Randomly found Val's while driving around and what a lovely little coffee stand it is! All the ladies working were a delight and helped me figure out what to get. Had a delicious peppermint mocha drink and the gluten free banana bread. Great assortment of drinks and real food as well as pastries. Great little Brazilian outdoor coffee n snack spot in the heart of OB. The owner Val rang us up and she was so nice and friendly. I had an iced Vietnamese coffee and a coxinha (chicken) potato ball and they fried it up for me to order. Ask for the house hot sauce if you like a little kick, it was nice and spicy and delicious! The menu is wonderful--varied and delicious! It's definitely worth a visit. The setting could use a renovation--it's a bit dated--but the food makes up for it. The prices are a little high compared to other cafés, but it's still worth going! The staff are always very friendly. read more

Went here during the OB Street Fair and Chili Cook Off because my wife was craving caffeine. There were a lot of ladies working. Always nice to support female owned and run establishments. It was busy and looks like they were making everything fresh which is awesome. Plenty of seating to hang out and pup friendly. Took a while for my wife's order, but she had one sip and said it was worth the wait. Would definitely come back to try one of their Açaí bowls. read more

She removes tips after delivery and reports items damaged or missing when they are in fact perfectly fine. As someone who has employees and they also receive tips you'd expect her to be polite and respectful but that's not the case! Terrible. read more

I ordered the Vals Bagel, on the menu it comes with cream cheese , avocado, tomato and everything seasoning. When I got to work, and began eating , there was no cream-cheese. I know they're a local business.. but I wouldn't say it was my favorite spot by any means. There's plenty of outdoor seating and you can bring your pups.. however, service was slow and it seemed I'd you knew the employees, you were given better service. I ordered a bowl and a chicken empanada. I got my bowl within 10 minutes and it was okay - nothing to write home about or nothing crazy good or bad. I got a mermaid bowl which was blue since it had spiralina in it - picture worthy i suppose. But my empanada I had to go remind them about. When they got back to me, they microwaved a breakfast something or other. It was soggy and had eggs and potatoes in it. I didn't want to be bothersome and ate it anyway... but didn't leave a great impression. read more

Your can order their bowls in three size options 12, 16 and 20 ounces. Pictured here is a 16oz bowl. The original açaí bowl comes with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, toasted coconut, and chia seeds. It's perfection! I also tried a Vietnamese iced coffee. Strong, sweet, and delicious! Let me tell you, if you're a fan of açaí bowls, you have to come here! Their açaí bowls were made to perfection- perfect consistency, topped with LOTS of fruit (strawberries, banana, blueberries), coconut, chia seeds, granola and honey! It was refreshing on a scorching hot summer heatwave day! The Vietnamese iced coffee was strong and tasty! Theres an open patio seating area to sit down and enjoy your food. I so badly wanted to like this place. However, the girls there seem pre-occupied with flirting with male patrons rather than doing their job. I have an egg allergy, so I asked if their croissants contained eggs. The woman at the stand gave me a blank stare. When I asked her to look at the ingredients, she looked at me like I insulted her mother and could not provide an answer. As someone with both food allergies and a decade in the service industry, that is completely unacceptable behavior. Seems like I'll be sticking to Villi's and Cafe Bella.
