This is the first time I've been compelled to leave a 2 star review. It felt like nearly everything from booking to our New Year's Eve dinner was less than desirable and seemingly could have been avoidable. I called countless times to inquire on booking reservations because the website wasn't working properly. I left messages requesting call backs. I spoke to staff (I spoke to Sam at least twice) asking for call backs from management to clarify what action to take for booking. I called after booking reservations to confirm the booking because something was still wrong with my email confirmations. I asked for call backs after speaking to another person and never got a call back. We walked in to speak to someone about our booking and left a message (with Sam again) and never got a call back. I called again a day before our booking and was able to speak to someone about our booking which still needed to be corrected and I could only hope we finally had everything squared away. We checked in at the Weatherford hotel prior to our booking to inquire how early we should return to check in for our dinner reservations and were told 10 minutes early because we would lose our reservation if we were more than 10 minutes late. We checked in and ended up waiting about 40 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated we waited a long time just to get water. The place cards we were given were mixed up even though I had gone over those details a day ahead of our reservation. At least whatever we preordered was correct. We were told that one of the appetizers was completely out and the wine we ordered also was sold out. We felt like that shouldn't have been an issue if we had been seated at the appropriate time. Another table was seated while we were waiting to get our appetizers and they got their water (with lemon) in no time and their appetizers came out in no time. Our main dishes came out and at least two of the dishes were barely even warm and the polenta was completely cold throughout. Although the dishes were tasty they shouldn't have been cold. We communicated our disappointment with our cold meals but were only provided apologies. We were extremely disappointed and don't understand how our overall experience could begin to quantify the pricey dinner. Considering all of the attempts I made to get assistance with our dinner reservation I cannot wrap my head around what happened. I don't know if there was anything else we could have done differently to improve our experience. We recognize that our waitress was doing her best and appreciated her efforts. She seemed a little overwhelmed. She wasn't doing a terrible job but she could have used some assistance. I spoke to Sam on the phone twice and in person twice relaying messages to him three times requesting a call back regarding my reservation but no one ever called. I also saw Sam working in the restaurant helping to clear tables. I don't think Sam was the problem. I even spoke to Sam after dinner and told him we were not very impressed with our cold meals. He was apologetic for the bad experience but it wasn't his fault. I don't think he was in a position to remedy anything for us. We wanted so badly to enjoy a wonderful New Year's Eve but unfortunately left our meal much later than expected with a less than stellar experience than we had hoped for. We also had to cancel and rebook our prearranged ride service due to our late departure. I honestly don't like leaving bad reviews. I can only hope that everything we experienced was a result of poor communication coupled with problematic technical reservation and email confirmation system issues. If management wants more specific feedback, I would welcome an opportunity to communicate with them further. read more

Had two great experiences here recently. On July 9th I went to their blues night featuring Dennis Herrera & Chicago Bob. It was a $5 cover but they also give you a ticket with that for a drawing at the end of the night for something free. The music was fantastic and well worth the $5 entry. A week later on July 17th went back for drinks and apps on the balcony at Zane Grey Ballroom, Bar & Balcony. You order at the bar and they bring to you. Food was great (we ordered the nachos and the Charley's dip) which was served super fast. Our drinks were great. I would definitely come back for the blues music inside Charly's and the great spot and food on balcony. read more

Western decor inside captures the back in the day western saloon and lodging vibe. I expected to run into cowboys and miners inside. The furnishings reflect the earlier years. Beautiful woodworks, lots of red velvet seatings. It's super interesting and I feel so transported back to the wild Wild West ! read more

My wife and I will always stay at the Weatherford when we come to Flagstaff. Hotel has three bars; Charley's on the main level, Zane Grey is on the higher level with a gorgeous veranda where you can sit outside, and the Gopher Hole which is downstairs (basement). Both Charley's and Gopher Hole have live music which we love. It's great to stay in a hotel where you can just go up or down and be entertained. That being said, we had the worst experience staying there at the end of June. Our room was number 43 which we have never stayed in. Room 43 faces the street (Aspen) and has two windows directly above a concrete stairwell that leads to the Gopher Hole which can be accessed vis Aspen instead of going through the hotel. What they don't tell you about this room is that the bottom of this stairwell is a designated smoking area for the Gopher Hole patrons. What happens is that people go out to smoke (not only cigarettes) and will congregate for extended periods of time talking loudly as they've been drinking most of the night. Being that it's in a concrete stairwell the noise has nowhere to go but up as does the cigarette smoke. You cannot open a window or get any peace to try to sleep until after the bar closes which is 2am. We both went to the desk to complain and asked for another room. Unfortunately no other rooms were available and we were just given the canned statement that, "we're an entertainment hotel and noise is to be expected". Yes that we know but you didn't tell us about that room and possibly 44 when we were checking in. That would've been easy especially that we checked in on a Wednesday and they probably could've given us a different room. Anyway long story short is I'll never stay at the Weatherford again as they showed that they care more about the bar patrons than hotel guests. At $200 a night, I think a little head's up about the room would've been nice. read more

The bar upstairs at 5:30pm was a mess, dirty glasses, filthy bar towel on bar, bartender using his bare hands to serve fruit on the drinks after touching money, credit card machines, his face. Came back after a walk - 7;15pm to listen to the guitar player downstairs and the bartender was just as bad. Filthy bar towel sitting out, couldn't handle the drinks for the 4 - 6 people sitting at the bar. Another woman popped up and handled the drinks professionally - he couldn't keep up. The lack of professionalism was apparent and surprising for this establishment. read more

We had dinner in the main dining room. The fish dinner is the best I've had in Flagstaff. Ambiance is great and peaceful compared to a lot of places. My husband ordered the Apple, cranberry and nut salad which he raved about. I recommend you give the main dining room a try. read more

I wouldn't walk into the Weatherford to use the bathroom. the owner clearly doesn't care about her employees and yells at them in front of customers...great way to keep customers. Sam Green is and has been the downfall of the Weatherford Hotel for decades, and it sounds like her daughter of closely following in her footsteps. owners are trash, clearly they need to sell and start fresh, too bad they will be leaving the place in disarray for the new owners. terrible to see how owners tear down employees, I guess I now understand the demise of the once great Weatherford Hotel. read more

Some very good friends of ours came to visit us and we wanted to go to Charlie's for their 50th wedding anniversary in our 52nd in anniversary. Unfortunately it was the same Saturday as they had the protest in town about Trump. We went anyway the waiter told us to sit anywhere so we set the back which was by the bar. Took a long time to get somebody to come back there we made our order. And I must say the food is not that good the drinks were excellent the service was okay I'm going to give it a three stars. It was very disappointing for anniversary to have such bad food. Probably won't go back. read more

Went to a memorial for an old friend I had known since 2nd grade. A sad time but we tried at his prior request to celebrate his life. As part of the celebration he liked going to The Weatherford Hotel. A group of us went and there was a band playing in the large bar. This is much more than an 1897 historic hotel in the heart of Flagstaff's historic downtown district. I wandered around and took these pics in between throwing down a few cocktails in our friend's honor. I know there seventeen boutique hotel rooms, but none of us stayed in the rooms here so I leave that to other Yelpers. I definitely enjoyed our celebration for our friend. read more

Beautiful facade and the restaurant/bars are amazing. I had a navajo taco and it was the fanciest Navajo taco Ive ever had! We stayed 2 nights. The mattress was so hard my boyfriend had back/hip pain and was taking Tylenol and a heating pad the day after. The pipes by the bed were clicking/noisy at all hours of night. Also, there's a note on the wall to not use the AC, open the windows instead. Which is fine, but one of the windows was nailed shut and couldn't be opened. read more

Chaotic and uncomfortable. They are really missing the mark with what could be a pleasant stay at a historic hotel. First, we want to note the staff that we interacted with were incredible (both bars, front desk, restaurant). All were so kind, relaxed, and helpful as they could be. Our review is really more reflected by what management above them must be doing. PS Sam at front desk rocks! Review rating is reflective of overall experience (if this review was on staff then it would be a five star). This was an absolute beautiful property and in such a central location. Peaceful restaraunt, pleasant vibes at the Gopher hole, kind staff, cool historic stories. It was not all bad, it's just the chaos/discomfort listed below really made for some stress. We originally booked the king suite through air b and b several days prior to our stay. We were looking for a nice get away weekend and to tour the area. I checked in through the hotel after a prompt via text on the day of arrival. About 30 minutes prior to our arrival and a couple hours after check in, we get a call that the room we reserved isn't actually available. Sam, the manager, was very kind and apologetic. He seemed to genuinely try to work on a solution. Unfortunately, his management or the owner was unwilling to repair what went wrong. Instead, they would only give us 4 drink tickets. And a confusing reduced rate we couldn't make sense out of til now. Which we used and did appreciate. They told us we would pay the price they were asking for a room (more than what is listed on the website) for accommodations less than what we reserved or they would give us a list of other hotels to stay at. We were kinda stuck since we traveled all day and were now too tired to do full research of where to stay. I inquired about how this could happen. First, we were told they don't have a system to ensure air b and b rooms are not also booked by their hotel system. Later, heard from several staff that their system double booked a bunch of people and it's because there is a disconnect between the third party systems and their in house system. Which seems to be a chronic issue according to reviews we later saw. They didn't "discover" we didn't have a room until moments before we were due to be there. There was no explanation about why I was able to check in for this room through their in house system. They then said the price was not correct on air b and b and that they only had a standard room available. They also stated that prices on rooms were not correct on their website and that we would be charged more for a room than what we were paying for a king even though we ultimately ended up with a queen. There was no explanation about charging us more than what was online other than it is a "holiday." We reserved a room December 28-30. Now that we can make more sense of this, the website lists a "usually" range but the actual price could be outside that range once you select a room (confused yet, us too especially since we went through air b and b for the first go around). So when you select a room, for example the queen was listed as 215 for a Saturday- was now 300 for a queen, which they marked down to 250 per evening for us. Many reviews state ear plugs are available. They are not, they had no idea what we were talking about. It was incredibly loud on Saturday. The website does mention that it will be noisy, but we were not prepared for the actual level of noise. We imagined an acoustic Jack Johnson not front row Ozzy Osbourne featuring Megan the Stallion. Like music blasting until 2:30 AM and drunk people screaming "THE WEATHERFORD!!!!!". It's a good story now, but wow that was something. It's like there is no insulation. Sunday was moderately loud, closer to what we expected. The bed is very old, hard, and not comfortable at all. Needless to say, we slept poorly during this trip ;) You might wonder why we stayed the second night given above. Well, no other hotel had availability last minute in downtown. After spending time trouble shooting with the hotel and air b and b (because the owner tried to label it a change and not a cancelation on their end), we just wanted our intended chill weekend downtown not more problem solving. Needless to say we won't be staying here again. read more

I traveled 2 hours for a Tribute show for a long time friend who passed away. I get there and find out the owner does not want me there. He is holding a grudge because I called him out because they over charged me 5 years ago 70.00 and another time 30.00 and he won't own up to it. All within 5 years. This is solely a review of Charley's the Grill and Pub on site. I enjoy history and wander off on topics like who built it, who designed it, who was allowed in upon completion, were there bouncers, etc..... II throughly enjoyed looking at and reading about the old photos and memorabilia. Now the food, we ordered the portobello and fried chicken sandwiches along with a beer and non alcoholic beverage. Yes, if you stay here on the weekends, it's going to be noisy. You're right downtown, over not one but two bars, and there's live music and shouting customers. Some of the hotel guests get a little too drunk, and I woke up to someone banging around the hall and swearing at 2 AM (a ghost?). The hotel does supply earplugs for the room, which is very considerate. We stayed in one of the more expensive upgraded rooms with a cool clawfoot tub, so you'd expect the room to be a little nicer overall than the typical rooms. It was large and spacious. No views from the room (windows looked out onto some mechanical parts on a roof), but that's fine. My main complaint is the lighting. For some reason, right above the door, there's a skylight looking into the hallway. The lights from the hallway shine through this skylight directly onto the head of the bed throughout the entire night. We tried to fix this by moving some chairs around to climb up on and hang the towels from the bathroom over the light, but that still didn't fix things entirely. That said, staff are incredibly friendly, the bars downstairs are great, and the location can't be beat if you're looking for some downtown Flagstaff weeknight adventures. read more

Stopped in just for a meal one day prior to New Years 2018. Had a party of four, ordered 3 Leroux Burgers, all medium-well and one Flagstaff Dip sandwich. Meals were okay, burgers themselves weren't the 'tastiest'; but definitely not bad either. The staff was stellar and the price was a bit high for 'burger meals' totaling $70.00!? Incredible history and decent food; but again overpriced. And for sake of specify concerning 'drinks' and to Claudia N., our beverages consisted of four waters with lemon and one single beer. No TVs the old beds and dressers just nostalgic some rooms have shared bathrooms some do not I got one with a very tiny tub I guess there is a room that has a clawfoot bathtub so upset it was not open. it's just unique historical as they actually have the bar that Wyatt Earp sat. A lot of history also they say it's haunted it one of three The original hotels of Flagstaff. This place is the worst! The security is bullshit! Chelsea is completely unreasonable. Do not stay at this place. They accused me of being drunk when I was not. They kicked me and my son out at 10am. They have parties to 3am. I got zero sleep. Here's the video. They allowed drunk men to go to my room and knock on the door. This place doesn't even have a shower. Save your money and do not deal with this bullshit. My son is 12. I'm literally beside myself with the service. Chelsea should be fired immediately. I'm calling an attorney. 10am is check out???? We were headed to a music festival in Flagstaff, and the Weatherford was right in the middle of town, which would give us a chance to walk around, try different restaurants and do some shopping. We reserved a room for three nights. There is not even a space to pull up and check in, so we waited for a spot to vacate, paid for the parking meter and walked back to the hotel to check in. Being a New Yorker, I found this absurd--even in the heart of Manhattan, hotels manage to enable guests to check in with ease! We were told the hotel had no actual guest parking, but had a arrangement with another building to use their lot as Long as vehicles were removed Early in the morning. We located that area, and had to tote everything from there back to the hotel. Love traipsing with luggage and musical instruments for a block. There are neither Bell hops nor an elevator; luckily we're fit and simply shrugged and made our way upstairs. The room was clean and bereft of anything you might expect to find in a hotel. No phone in the room, no thermostat, no nightstands or bedside lamps...I could go on, but you get the picture. The Weatherford calls itself an entertainment hotel, and rightfully so. There are 3 bars, 2 with dance floors. One has live music; the other a DJ. We thought this was a plus. We are frequent travelers and usually pick hotels with entertainment. Those hotels are well constructed with soundproofing. The Weatherford, unfortunately, is not. They shrug and smile about this and note that there are free ear plugs next to the ice bucket in every room. The music was loud in our room as it was in the bars. And it stayed that way until 2 AM. When we complained we were told that we had been informed that it was an entertainment hotel. Gee, So is every hotel in Las Vegas and I have never been kept up by music or screaming revelers. My impression is that The folks who own this hotel are torn between being a college bar and dancing destination versus a restored charming 19th century hotel. As a result there failing at both from the look of things. No the good news is that there is still significant blue laws in Flagstaff, and Sunday night was quiet as a church. So if you want to stay in town at the Weatherford, do it on a Sunday. Otherwise skip it!!!! read more

Finally got to stay at The Weatherford Hotel - it's super cute, has all of the historic charm and creaky wood floorboards you could want! We lucked out with a room on the 3rd floor, so we didn't experience what other reviewers mentioned about hearing people walking in the room above. That is pretty typical for the older hotels we've stayed in before anyways, so I would honestly expect that a bit. Now, the Zane Grey bar on the 3rd floor was absolutely poppin and very loud into the night. I'm glad our room was at the very end of the hallway tucked away into a corner because I'm sure it would have been rough trying to sleep or relax through that. The window AC noise helped to hide any noises too which is fine by me. All of the staff and bartenders we talked to were super nice and attentive. Overall I would recommend this stay for anyone looking for a night or two of historic hotel charm. Our bed was small (again that's typical with historic hotels) so I wouldn't do an extended stay but it's really convenient for a spot downtown! read more

Not only do you get killer drink from an awesome bartender, but you get a little history lesson as well. Weatherford hotel, I didn't get the name of the 3rd story bartender this evening, a cute young female who's hustling to provide for her and her young child, but she needs to be hired on as your town history tour guide! She was an absolute delight! Attentive, great drinks, friendly, smiling, and fun. The rooftop balcony you can walk on is excellent for sunset photos of the area. This is our favorite of the trio so far and we are 7 places in just today alone. Love the charm, love the location, love the prices and food portions. Highly recommend this place! Put me in all my Tombstone feels knowing this bar is from the late 1800's and Wyatt Earp had a little something to do with it! read more

This is for the restaurant only. We stopped for a bite on a Friday afternoon. First, we weren't given place settings: no cutlery or napkins. Then my son ordered a lemonade but my daughter declined. The server brought two anyway and forgot my tea. We ordered the chicken tenders and fries from the appetizer menu and a dessert. The chicken was mostly fine. The fries were completely undercooked. I would have asked the server to have them fixed but she didn't return. Not to ask how things were and certainly not to refill the $4 beverages we only sort of ordered. We also never got those table settings. The kids and I shared chicken from the same plate. It was a painful and wasted $40 midday pickmeup. read more

Historic gem of a hotel in downtown flag! We're locals and decided to do a staycation for our anniversary, the staff was so helpful booking the perfect room, #42, a stunning corner suite beautifully updated room with a wonderful claw foot tub! Zane Gray bar is one of our favorites even when we're not staying here plus they have live music downstairs almost every night. We will definitely stayca again here and recommend to others. read more

This hotel is fun to experience once but overall there is nothing that's worth the price tag. The hotel is very old and has a particular old smell to it, very musky and dirty. Our room was fairly large but had awful views of the parking lot. We had ants in the bathroom. The mattress was hard as a rock. Not enough towels. No iron. You can hear everything from upstairs and hallway. Will not be back. read more

This is in regards to the bar at Weatherford at the top of the stairs often referred to as Zane Grey. This incident took place after restrictions were lifted. The bar tender purposefully did not take my drink order and served every other person at the bar skipping me each time. I patiently waited without tapping or calling her attention until she was ready to take my order. She never acknowledged me even after making eye contact. This was my first time at the bar and this was the first stop of the night. It was very apparent to every other patron that the bartender was purposefully skipping me. I stayed here on Halloween and the night after with my boyfriend. We absolutely loved it! Old hotels with character are right up our alley, and the three bars on site didn't hurt either. I think all the bad reviews are from people who didn't do their research prior to staying here. On the weekends, this hotel probably isn't the place to stay if you have kids or if you're looking for a quiet night's stay. People in other reviews complain about the noise from the bars, parking and lights being on in the hallway. They tell you about all of these things when you check in, and most of them have easy fixes, like simply shutting off the hallway light if it bothers you. Lol. That being said, this was the perfect place for us to stay. We had a few days off of work and came from Phoenix to party and enjoy Downtown Flagstaff. We had so much fun that we plan to come back and stay here again in January or February to see the snow. This hotel will be our go-to for the foreseeable future! read more

Pros: Nice staff. Great music venue in the bar. Beautiful, relaxing views from the top floor bar. Close to wonderful restaurants and shops. Large room. Cons: To be fair, they did warn us that it would be noisy and there were earplugs in our room, but it was way more noisy than we anticipated. Both mornings, the garbage truck emptied the dumpsters at 5:00. The floor in our room sloped due to it being such an old building. The shower was in a claw-footed tub and there wasn't enough flat space on the bottom to stand; I felt like I would fall at any moment. The bed was uncomfortable. The AC was behind the headboard and made noise. Too expensive for the quality of the place. Just not what we expected and will not return. read more

What a stroke of luck. My wife, son and I were walking the flagstaff's haunted walk when we got lucky inside the Weatherford hotel. Much of the walks building are closed Sundays but the Weatherford was open. We walked in to have look around when one of the hotel/ bar managers Westley was walking by. My wife asked to make sure we were able to have a look around when he politely offered to give us a quick tour since it was a slow day. He gave us an awesome tour from bottom to top. He gave us some historical facts, showed us the rooms, and even took us to the room Theodore Roosevelt stayed in.
