Ok, I have been wanting to try this place for the better part of the year with all the raving reviews it has been getting, especially about the pancakes. So I finally made my way there this early afternoon and was not disappointed but ...not like overly wowed either. First the decor inside, is beautiful. I am in love with the brick wall. There is a tv in the restaurant very nearly hung on the ceiling. I don't think anyone has a very good view of it from any seat in the house and feel like it just should not be there. But other than that inside is beautiful. I ordered the eggs Benedict, which came with breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit. Then because I heard I had to have their pancakes, I ordered a single pancake as a side (for $3.19 goodness). The pancake came with a huge scoop of real butter WHICH I loved, not one of those fake pads of butter that you would need 8 of. The pancake, gotta admit, was good.. but out-of-this-world, knock my socks off good? No. But it was light and airy... like Ihop's pancakes are. So they do it right. The breakfast potatoes were probably my favorite, they were cooked exactly how I like them and were very tasty. I filled up on those more than anything else. The Benedict was nice. Eggs were cooked perfect. But I didn't enjoy the ham on it. It still had the ham rind on it and it was hard to remove without getting messy from all the hollandaise sauce. Maybe some people eat that part of the ham. I do not. I would definitely choke in public if I ate that. The coffee was good, but I wished their creamer had flavor options instead of just half and half. I get spoiled at other places that have flavor creamers. So am I happy I finally got into Weather Vane? Absolutely. Will I go back? 100%. I definitely want to go back for the weekend brunch buffet and that way get to taste a bunch of breakfast foods and see where they really shine. read more

Fantastic little restaurant! Was told it was one of the best breakfasts in Menasha and it lived up to the hype. It actually might not have been hyped enough. I got pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs and sausage links. All tasted amazing. The hashbrowns were hands down the best I ever had. They were just the right amount of crispy and had great flavor. The sausage links and eggs tasted great as well. The prize fighter in this round though was the pancakes. They were huge and fluffy and tasted great. Definitely one of the best pancakes I have had in Wisconsin. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to when I needed refills and to get my order. This is definitely a good place to eat when recovering from a hangover. Get here soon and get some fabulous food. read more

One word...pancakes. They're so fluffy and good. I opt for the scrablers usually, but everyone I go with always gets the pancakes and they're so so good. On the weekends, expect a wait as they are very busy or get there early. The weekend also offers a breakfast buffet - $9-10 for adults, $6 for kids 5-12, and $4 for kids 4-under. The lunch menu starts after 10am. It includes sandwiches, burgers, wraps, melts, soups, and salads. There is also a kids' menu that includes both breakfast and lunch options. On our visit today, I had an omelet with ham, sausage and tomato with a side of hashbrowns and toast. The omelet was exceptional. The hash browns were perfectly cooked as I asked for them extra crispy. My kids had the french toast sticks with bacon as well as the chocolate chip pancakes. The french toast stick meal was a bit small; however, the chocolate chip pancakes were falling off the plate because there were so many. The kids ended up splitting them. The ingredients in my Wisconsin omelet was slimy and the sausage wasn't cooked enough. The potatoes lacked flavor. The pancakes were blah. The coffee was weak. Was wanting to try them out after reading the reviews. I finally got in there today. I ordered the Weather Vane Plus. It has bacon, sausage, potato, eggs, and pancakes. I had coffee to drink. My friend ordered the Reuben. My meal was pretty good. I liked the rags, they tasted very fresh. I do t know if they're local or what, but I haven't had eggs with that good of flavor at a restaurant before. The breakfast potatoes were seasoned perfect. The bacon was so so. The pancakes were middle of the road. I didn't like the flavor of them. Taste was off. They are very fluffy, if you like that, but I don't. Coffee is also just eh. My friends Reuben looked good, but he said the kraut wasn't drained. It did look very messy. He said it taste decent. The decor inside is nice. The wait staff was friendly. Waited a little while to get a table, but it was totally worth it. Yummy mimosas and the breakfast potatoes were sooo good! Also- can't say enough about how sweet our waitress was. Went to SAP in Appleton and was told the wait for a table for Sunday breakfast at 9am would be 1 hour . Left and drove to the Weathervane in Menasha and was seated right away. Had the Sunday buffet and was pleasantly surprised that it was a spread of morsels fit for a king and queen. Meats, eggs of all types, quiches, numerous potato dishes, bakery, and tons of fruits. Sue and I ate our fill and then some. When finished we commented that we might just be sitting down at SAP and wouldn't have had half as good of a meal at twice the cost. Ok guys, here's the deal on Weathervane. Best breakfast spot in the Valley if you want straightforward but not gourmet breakfast, friendly people, and nice environment. Pat is the very visible owner and his crew execute the basics really well. When I order eggs over medium, they're consistently cooked right over many visits. The bacon is solid quality which is rare at many restaurants and is prepared well. The French Toast is my favorite simply because of the flavor. I suspect a little extra vanilla - it's really good. I heard the Pancakes are good - not my scene. The american fries are very good if that's your thing and the hash browns deliver. The coffee is ok - competent but doesn't stand out. The lovely Maureen orders the same food I do so I can't cover dishes outside the basic breakfast. I can't comment on the buffet. Not my gig but plenty of people go for that at Weathervane. Some people may walk away with a "Meh, it was a basic breakfast" but the quality of the food and the consistent quality preparation over many visits makes it better than what you get at the other breakfast places in the area. Wait!! I forgot. Last time I was there, I asked Pat what his specialty was and he said the Eggs Benedict. I'm usually not adventure breakfast but I ordered it and the flavor was out of this world.
