Met a friend for lunch at Webb Custom Kitchen over my holiday break. From the time we entered the restaurant, we were treated to the best service possible. I enjoyed admiring the creative decor and its homage to the original theater. The big screen playing Turner Classic Movies was also a classy touch. For lunch I chose the French onion soup and wedge salad. Both exceeded my expectations. The wedge had a generous amount of blue cheese on it, which I greatly appreciated. My friend and I decided to share a piece of the peppermint cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect ending to our exceptional meal and phenomenal service. The concept/ dining area is unique. A old movie theater and old movies are shown while dining. Our server was Dalton. He was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Our dinner choices (braised ribs and pork chops) were cooked to perfection. Unfortunately we are traveling home to Texas and will not be able to return soon. The meatball appetizer over polenta was incredible. We asked about it and apparently it is the recipe of the chef's grandmother. We've been long time fans of WCK for 8 years and thought we struck gold getting a last minute Valentine's Day reservation for two. Our experience was disappointing - the cocktails were syrupy and served in sticky glasses, my ribeye ordered "medium" arrived purple and very undercooked on one side, and was white like a pork chop on the other. Our waitstaff never checked on us and we had to flag down another person to help with my meal. The beef was fatty and nothing like the cuts of rib I've typically received at WCK. I understand holidays are busy, but I did not expect for basic service to go out the window. read more

This is probably my fifth or sixth time dining at Webb. I just felt like it wasn't up to their service standards. I had ordered the French onion soup for my starter and I'd only took three bites before my main arrived. I had ordered it medium and it came out raw and cold in the middle. My husband ordered the same thing but medium rare and his was a nice warm pink in the middle so I just switched with him. I would've said something to my server, but he wasn't around. I guess I'm just old school, but don't think that you should be coming to our table removing plates before everyone is done eating. Then our server started telling us the dessert selections while I was still eating my steak. We didn't want dessert and said no thank you and I continued eating. We did not ask for a check, but the server just went ahead and presented the check while I was still eating dinner. We'd only been there 50 minutes at this point. My husband had to ask to get his water filled and when I ask for a second martini the server replied "well you threw that one back fast". As he was laughing. A beautiful restaurant with fantastic ambiance and service. I was with a group of 6 and everyone loved their meals. From the ribs, burgers, steaks, salmon, to the wings and fried lobster tail appetizers everything was great. The converted theater still has a lot of its amazing charm. The conversion was done amazingly. Entrees average around $30 per person but if you go for the $99 porterhouse and finish it, you're immortalized with a plaque on the wall with your name on it. Apparently a gentleman is set to do it for his 100th time tonight, July 22nd, 2023. So it has to be great but too much for me to bite off. We had been wanting to try their food for while.... and finally went for my mom's birthday. I was torn between ordering the Angry Lobster and the Shrimp & Lobster Tortellachi. I should've went with the Angry Lobster. I thought the artichokes were TOO much in the pasta and was left still feeling hungry. I ordered the truffle fries, when my food was brought to the table. I had to wait a long time for them and flavors did not leave a good impression. My brother enjoyed the Caesar Salad Theater, especially the cheese bowl. He also was a fan of the angry lobster but not the Mac & Cheese. Hubby enjoyed his whole meal: Charbroiled Lollipop Rack Chops of Lamb, Country Potato Cakes and Duck Cigars. If you haven't been to Webb Custom Kitchen, it's a must-try in my opinion! My wife has been before and after hearing from her and numerous others how good this place was, I had to try it out! First, the restaurant is an old movie theater, converted into a two-level restaurant. So your literally eating in a theater! VERY cool! Second, the food was cooked to perfection and was delicious! If you go, try the baby lobster and the duck cigars! The waiter that we had was super attentive, alert to our orders/needs and made our experience great! Covid protocols were in place to ensure safety and we were tucked away in a small corner booth, which made us feel that much more safe. Definitely try this place out if you're in the Gastonia area or decide to take a drive...it well worth it in my opinion! read more

THE BEST BRUNCH IN THE AREA!!!! I've wanted to come here for years and finally made it on a beautiful Sunday morning for brunch. The inside is stunning however next time I will request a table upstairs to over look the old theaters architecture as well as the open kitchen. Devon was our waiter and took such good care of us. We started with tangerine and orange mimosas and a scone basket. The scones were the best I've ever had. The butter served with them were packed with flavor. One had a smoky bacon and onion flavor and paired with a light and buttery cheesy scone. A perfect starter that excited us for what was to come. We ordered to share and we got a variety of things to try. I had the braised short ribs that came in a bowl surrounded by the perfectly whipped mashed potatoes and red wine gravy. My sides were collard greens cooked in pork belly and Mac and cheese. Everything was amazing however the Mac and cheese was just okay. Needed some salt and maybe a sharper cheese. My friend had the angry lobster which came with a spicy honey mustard sauce. The portion was a lot and the presentation was awesome. Her sides were the grilled veggies and risotto with goat cheese and bacon. Definitely coming back to try more of the menu. I have my eye on the ribeye special and the honey chicken. We were stuffed and could make room for dessert but the pineapple upside down cheese cake sounds delicious. read more

GET THE BURGER! it's worth every calorie - mine was moist well seasoned cooked to perfection and dressed with bacon Dijon honey mustard grilled shallots cheese and lettuce! I was tempted to try the Tres Hombres Steak entree but I just didn't have the space in my tummy lol. So yeah I'll have to go back and try it! It was our first time here and we absolutely loved our experience. We came in for brunch and everything was delicious. We had our 6month old daughter with us and it wasn't an issue at all. My daughter and I made a reservation at Webb Custom Kitchen for Thanksgiving Day at 3 pm. We started off with Strawberry Mocktails, Angry Lobster, a delicious shrimp and crab dip with pita bread and a creative salad with toasted pecan and feta cheese. We chose the perfectly cooked melt in your mouth glazed salmon for our entree. I love tasty deliciousness. I had the decadent bread pudding and. my daughter had the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Kudos to the chef. There was not a huge crowd and the noise level was low and there was laughter and good vibes. I had one issue that was handled expeditiously. Our server and the manager were friendly, attentive and accommodating. Webb Custom Kitchen staff and chef are outstanding and I highly recommend. I've dined there at least six times with family, friends and our out of town guests. Last but not least I appreciate the valet parking because of my mobility. I celebrated my birthday dinner starting with a Pretty in Pink (perfect balance), moved on to Fried Green Tomatoes (seasoned to perfection, the right amount of crunch and can't forget the corn relish adding extra flavor and texture) and lastly the main course was a 1/2 rack of ribs and a baked potato (note..I'm not a big ribs person but they were amazing. Fell off the bone at the touch of a fork. The combination of the dry rub and sauce had you wanting to lick your fingers, lol). We sat upstairs in the balcony, what a view! First time visiting and it was worth our 45 minute drive. We sat in the balcony, so we had a great view of the whole restaurant. The old movies playing such a great touch and adds some charm. The service was great! Our server Logan was very attentive and made great menu suggestions. We had the fried green tomato appetizer. My only complaint about it was that there was a lot more toppings than tomato, but still very tasty. For my entree I had the crab cake which also had great flavors. There were so many things I wanted to try so we will return. My only complaint is that you can't hear the movies that are playing. Overall a wonderful experience. read more

You really can't go wrong eating here. Oh, there's some things I like better than others, but honestly, every dish is at a minimum, good. The service is top notch and I like the ambiance. Pineapple Upside down cake is sooooo good it is mouth watering. The service is FLAWLESS!! For the price this is a must go restaurant! If you are local or from out of state it is worth the trip. Webb Custom Kitchen is a gem in the near downtown Gastonia. The building was once a theater and is very ornate w/ beautiful high ceilings, an upper dining room, a bar, and movie screens that play old movies. The food...it was a definite experience. I am not big on lobster, but, the Angry Lobster was delicious. Perfectly fried, not overcooked, and the sauce was delicious. Fried Green Tomatoes: Eh...I mean, it's a lot of stuff, good flavors, but, I'm old school, and like my fried green tomatoes to taste like we just got them out of the garden, a little salty, with hot cornmeal breading that is a little brown and doing the hashahasha eating because they're so fresh from the cast iron. I like them simple. I would not order these again, but, try them, you may like them. Asparagus: Because of the level of everything else, I was surprised that this asparagus was served. The stalks were yellowing and they were very thin. It was asparagus that I, in my own kitchen, would have thrown away, or maybe tried to spare the upper half. I definitely would not have served in a restaurant. Bone-In Cowboy Ribeye: DELICIOUS! Perfectly seasoned, seared, and cooked to a perfect medium temp. I'd order this again and again. The country potato cakes were delicious as well. Perfectly seasoned, with a nice crunch, and soft yummy centers. Braised Short Rib: My husband really enjoyed this dish. I look forward to trying the next time we visit. The meat was tender, the demiglace perfectly accompanied the short rib and he commented several times on the mashed potatoes being buttery and delicious. All of the servers were friendly and everyone helped each other. It was a well oiled machine and we will be back often. They do offer large circular booths that seat several people, and have the ability to host larger parties. There is no dress code - come as comfortable or dressy as you want. Enjoy! read more

We had 7 at our table. I was disappointed in my Ribeye steak. It was just okay. Honestly I can cook a much better steak at home than what I was served. My Daughter was disappointed in her spaghetti squash with salmon. She said the flavor was bland. Her Husbands pork chop and potatoes were amazing! He actually described it as Devine along with the mashed potatoes. Another guest ordered the Lollypop Lamb Chops, and she was disappointed. She said there was not much meat on them and the flavor wasn't good. She very was disappointed. My Son ordered Crab Cakes and enjoyed them. His wife ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Cappellacci and enjoyed it very much. Another guest in our party was disappointed in her ribeye as well, she did like the vegies though. The total bill with tip was $500. Over all it was NOT worth the price. Had the food been amazing all of the way around, then it certainly would have been worth the cost. Sat at the bar, took about 10 minutes to get greeted (not busy, only 5 other people at the U shaped bar and a separate bartender doing service bar). The meatball appetizer was pretty good, they were flavorful and tender. The spinach prosciutto wrapped mozzarella sounded amazing but missed the mark for me. Needed salt, too much balsamic. Just had lunch with a group of women. My first visit to WABB.Everyone ordered something different and we were all blown away! I had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with truffle fries and man it was great! Crispy, juicy flavorful hot chicken on a wonderful bun with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. It was superb and the truffle fries helped to make it a memorable meal. Some of my friends had the short ribs which got rave reviews and the strawberry salad as well. The restaurant itself is in an old movie theater and full of history and ambiance. They have a 40 oz. steak challenge that many people have concurred.
