This is a local chain restaurant in Albuquerque. Definitely not a regular but I can say that they are doing something right, as their restaurant was packed! Upon arriving, I appreciated the sign outside welcoming customers in, and including there was no wait time! This specific location had a cool retro vibe which is replicated across the other locations I've been to! The service was great!! I always appreciate servers which provide a coffee pitcher for the table. Our waiter consistently checked on our party and even remembered to bring our pancake at the end of the meal. Even though we'd been to Weck's yesterday, we went again this morning for breakfast. After a short wait, we were seated and deliciousness ensued. Usually, I go for something a little lighter, but today the Farmer's Benedict called my name. Two delicious sausage patties on a big toasted biscuit, topped with two poached eggs covered in delicious white gravy with bits of sausage and bacon, with a side of their fantastic hash browns, lettuce, and tomato that had some flavor despite it being winter. Dh had the Weck's Benedict - a tasty ham steak on top of a toasted English muffin with the poached eggs and a really nice Hollandaise sauce with the same sides that I had. He thought that maybe the hash browns could have been spread thinner when they were cooked, but I thought they were great as is. Flew in to Albuquerque to visit my in-laws. Saw this place after returning safely from a hot air balloon. WECKS!! First sign of good food to me is great customer service. This Weck's location near Cottonwood Mall has very friendly and family friendly atmosphere, very clean, and easy access. Food came out hot, fast, and good. Our server, Dominic was awesome. I am going to tell you a true story about him. I knew Dominic when he was a cashier at the Weck's off of Paseo next to the church I attended. I would go there every Sunday before church. Oh heck, let's meet at Weck's!! The perfect place for your weekly dose of green chili cold prevention! Most of the time when we come here, the chili is very much on the hot side (at least for us gringo types). My husband is sure that the chili helps clear out his sinuses and helps prevent colds. Other than that, their service is always dependably good. Our waiter ALWAYS asks us if we have any plans for later. The quality of food never varies. Their tortillas are wonderfully fluffy. The portions are really good sized and the prices are very reasonable! It can get a bit loud on a weekend morning, but otherwise, it isn't too bad. They serve soda in giant glasses! And they use wonderful, sonic style ice! My favorite!! If you're the type that loves to have your food all mixed together in one bowl ... this is the place for you! The Papas are wonderful! They fill a bowl or plate full of hash browns and then cover it with meat, or gravy and cheese, chili, an egg, whatever you like! It's awesome!!! The red chile always seems spicier than the green, but both are smooth and bursting with flavor. If you've been before and you want to branch out try their new carnitas eggs Benedict. The carnitas is so moist and well prepared it falls apart in your mouth. One side is covered in red and one side is covered in green (Xmas), and the little bits of cilantro add the perfect amount of sweetness to a very heavy bit amazing dish. Stopped by for a quick lunch during my lunch break. Due to COVID restrictions the restaurant has moved tables outside with umbrellas to provide shade. The area where tables are are roped off so that you can only enter/exit from one part of the parking lot which is nice. We were greeted right away and got to sit right down. Each table has a bottle of hand sanitizer on it which I think is a great touch. Our server was very fast and friendly taking our order and bringing out drinks which I appreciated as I was on a timed lunch break. I have NEVER had a bad experience at this Weck's until today. I waited an hour to receive my food, and when it was received it was cold. There was other people who came in after me who had eaten and left before I even received my food. I was with my elderly grandparents who have diabetes, and when it was brought to the managers attention he asked us if we wanted them to put it in the microwave. There were no accommodations that were made. I flew in from out of town to visit my family who lives in NM, and this has always been one of my favorite places to eat at, but after this experience I will not be back to this location. read more
