Fresh off a flight and hungry my girlfriend brought me to Wecks for breakfast. She warmed me going in that I was going to be stuffed when we left. She was so right. The portions were huge. We were greeted right away and seated. The coffee offering that day was a French vanilla. We both were skeptical at first until our first sip and blown away by how good it was is an understatement. We couldn't get enough. Breakfast for me was a classic burrito stuffed with eggs, bacon, cheese and it comes topped with your choice or red of green chili. ( It's not a sauce I've been told). My girlfriend ordered a burger that came with the house made potato chips. The flavor was delicious and their was a sauce on the burger that made this burger uniquely stand out. Chips and guacamole were a must also. Oh and more coffee. It was so good. I'd suggest trying it without any cream and a touch of sweetener to get the full flavor. Our waiter even warned us about this. lol We came here for breakfast and they are well known for the hashbrown plates. You can either get it on a plate or in a bowl. And let me tell you, they do NOT skimp on their servings. Holy cow, their portions are huge! I ordered the Carnitas Hashbrown plate. It is a plate of hashbrowns, topped with melted cheese, two eggs cooked to your order, carnitas and your choice of red or green chile. Ohhhh myyyy goshhhh.. It was delicious! I loved everything about it! Their service was also excellent. Oscar was our server and he was extremely friendly and made sure we got everything we needed. Our coffee cups were always filled. Even the manager came around 1 or 2 times to make sure everything was to our liking and made sure we didn't need anything. I loved how friendly and helpful the staff was. I've only ever had breakfast food here, generally something consisting of shredded hash browns covered with eggs, cheese, and green chile. Breakfast at any Weck's location tastes great and is extremely filling. I recently had the chicken enchiladas, topped with over easy eggs and green and red chile, served with beans. The chile sauces were thick and savory, with a hint of spice. I actually preferred the flavors in the red chile, but it can vary by the day. Wecks Benedict: poached eggs were cooked very nice but the hollandaise was broken and had an extra flavor, as if it had sautéed onions or miracle whip mixed in. I picked the Lombardi which is a tuna sandwich, added cucumbers & bell peppers, & selected the green chile stew. The first bite of the green chile stew was FABULOUS! The chicken is tender, there are *fresh* carrots, *fresh* potatoes, *fresh* celery, and even *fresh* green chile! The sandwich is also delicious with the croissant being just the right combination of tender, flaky & buttery goodness & the tuna to mayo & vegetable ratio spot on. I ate there for breakfast today and the South of Colorado Omelet was delicious. It could have used a bit more cheese for my taste, but not a deal breaker. I got it Christmas Style and the Green Chile sauce had a wonderful kick and the Red sauce was a great balance. The hash browns were plentiful if a little soggy. The sign outside that said there was no wait was very convenient, the lot was very full, but there was plenty of room inside. The service was awesome and timely. My coffee was never low and I never felt like I would have to wait for long if I needed something. Overall, worth the stop. It was a perfect day. Went to my Sagebrush Church, then went to Wecks where my wife and I enjoyed a fantastic breakfast. The manager Mr. Oscar made his nirmal corteay rounds and he was as just a pleasure to speak than his staff. The Big Pig was a full and filling meal. Used to love this place but never again! Very disappointed in the service and the food not that great. I ordered huevos enchiladas asked for light red chili and on the side. Plates delivered, mine drowned in red sauce. Super hot and green as well. Which isn't a big problem but most places give their customers a heads up. That's why I asked for light red. After being served, was not checked on. My group had finished and I had 3 bites. She finally came to clear our table, my plate being basically untouched. Not once did it occur for her to ask if everything was OK. You'd think to ask if your customer if evening was ok or wonder why someone didn't want a full plate to go. The Papas bowls are very good as well and a definite family favorite. They always have bottomless drinks and will be happy to send you out the door with a to go cup. My husband loves Wecks and I so wish that I could. He loves protein, lots of starch and green chili in oversized proportions. Me not so much. I was over the moon when I saw Eggs Benidict added to the menu. Until I ordered it. Yuk. If the English muffin isn't toasted, well everything goes down hill from there. I like a bit of fresh veg and/or fresh fruit included in my meals. Unless you consider shredded iceberg lettuce and diced up anemic tomatoes in that category, fresh is not to be found at Wecks. I hate wasting food. There are no reasonably sized plate offerings at this restaurant. Not even on the seniors menu. I pushed aside the Carb attack potatoes and sipped water while the other two girls I was with ate and chatted. The waitress takes the plate and doesn't ask why there is a full portion of food not eaten. This makes me think it is a common occurrence here. Girls said I should have ordered double carnitas next time. Manager comes by every table quickly for a status check but tells US everything is good to go instead of asking our opinion. Of all of the Weck's, this is my favorite location. Everyone is always friendly and the customer service is on point. The manager usually comes by, just to make sure everything is great. We've had ok experiences at the other locations but some don't have enough highchairs, food takes a long time, customer service is less than standard. So if you're planning on Weck's, eat at this one! I've had hazelnut coffee here twice and it was amazing, but they don't always have it. I usually stick to the huevos but the papas bowls are excellent and cure all hangovers. Try the green! Nom nom nom!! read more

Weck's is one of the spots I always have to visit for breakfast when I'm in Albuquerque. I love the papas plates. A "mountain" (their word and NOT an exaggeration!) of grated hash browns with red and green chile, tons of cheddar and jack cheese, topped with two eggs any style; I recommend over medium. Depending on which you order there will also be meats like carne adovada (my pick), carnitas, chicken, or traditional American breakfast meats like bacon, ham and sausage. If you're not a meat eater, you can get a veggie option or just the plain old "bowl o'papas." The price is certainly fair (just under $9) for the portion size, but it would be nice if you could get a half order for a little less. I spent the rest of the morning running errands and my boxed left overs did not survive the 90 degree plus temperatures in the car! :( The other reason I'm docking a star, is because the hours are 7 days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and I was looking forward to grabbing another bowl after my reunion festivities. It'd be a great meal after a wild night out! Guess I'll have to go to Village Inn or Frontier instead. There are worse things that could happen... read more

My husband and I LOVED this place. We stayed in New Mexico with family for 3 days and we ate here TWICE. Each time the food was on, the service was INCREDIBLE and the atmosphere was pretty cool. But let me tell you what impressed me the most about this place, and it's so hard to choose because the food and service were both amazing, but the service, stood above the rest. Each time we were greeted with a friendly smile and led to our table. Each time our waitress/waiter was SUPER friendly, and seemed like they actually cared to be there! EACH TIME during our meal a manager came over to us to make sure that we were taken care of. I was BLOWN AWAY. But I have to talk about the food, SO good. Each time I ordered the oatmeal breakfast which came with oatmeal, toast, fruit and brown sugar/raisins/milk to put in the oatmeal. The oatmeal was fantastic. They are rolled oats so they aren't soggy and each time I ordered this the dish was consistent. The fruit is good, it's just a small bowl but with the amount of food you receive, it's well in range. The toast was almost my favorite part (Sorry toast, oatmeal wins) , because they butter two piece of toast, cut them in half and butter the inside so that when you get to the toast the butter is still visible. And it is SO good. I only had one problem with the whole thing - there's not a Wecks in Los Vegas. This needs to change! :D read more
