Have been spending winters on Jekyl Island for several years and have eaten here several times. Last night will be the last. Arrived about 5:30 pm with a party of 8 and was told they could not seat 8 together in a nearly empty dining room. There was an empty table that would seat 8 but they were holding for the band that still hadn't arrived when we left an hour and a half + later. We have been here before when they have moved tables together for over a dozen people. They simply didn't feel like going to the trouble last night despite the fact that there were at least 4 tables in a row for four or six that could have been moved to accommodate our party. After ordering, and while waiting for our food to be delivered, the servers came through the restaurant and told everybody that there "carbon dioxide monitor" was beeping and we would all have to go outside in the cold while the fire department came to check it out. It was unseasonably cold here last night, about 40°F. Despite that, when our food was ready, our waitress came out and asked if we would like to eat at one of their outdoor tables. Hell no! After standing outside for about 15 minutes, we were allowed back in after the fire department cleared the problem. Our food arrived and was fine. One might have thought that management (if there was any) might have offered a complementary round of drinks for the inconvenience. You'd have been wrong. Sorry, but there are just too many restaurants in this area that will accommodate more than four people together when the restaurant is empty. Won't be back. read more

Probably one of the better bang for your buck restaurants on the island. We dined twice, once on a Saturday afternoon and the second time on as Sunday evening and both times has great food and excellent service. Like someone else mentioned, the water is terrible, but that's just island water. Even our shower water had the same odd and taste. The turkey sandwich and onion rings was super filling and served piping hot. For dinner I ordered the nachos and was surprised it was served with beef as that wasn't on the menu. My mom got a sandwich and soup, but didn't care for the soup. Drinks are served heavily poured and delicious. This will definitely be one of our frequent stops. read more

We were on Jekyll Island for the tour of the island and to visit the mosaic Museum as well as the historic district and the sea turtle center. This place came recommended and so we went. The wait was estimated to be about half an hour, but happily we had a table within about 10 minutes. There was a long wait for the food, but we had the impression that they were short on cooking staff that day. However, that does nothing to take away from the taste and quality of the food. We decided to order a variety of items and share them among our family of four. These included boneless chicken wings with a barbecue coating, cheese, sticks, and a chicken platter with fries. Ranch dressing and buffalo sauce were provided for dipping. Both the chicken fingers and the buffalo chicken were well seasoned without being overcooked. We enjoyed the mozzarella cheese sticks and the french fries as well. The atmosphere does feel like an Irish pub. It is located within several shops at a short distance from the beach. It is surrounded by resorts for people who are vacationing on the island. Our waitress did a great job, and we would happily return to this restaurant. read more

Of all the restaurant choices on the island I thought this place had a great location, the food is the best bar type food on the island. Had the fish and chips which are a little different with a thick batter kinda like a fried chicken- was very good. Burger's great, fried shrimp very tasty. My son was craving pasta and I found some items on the secret vegetarian menu which you have to ask for. My son got the garlic Parmesan pasta which was not as hot as he would like. My daughter got the pasta primavera. They both ate the whole thing with a little coercion. I picked the Ooey Gooey butter cake which came with raspberry sauce and whipped cream. My husband got the Philly sandwich and fries which he said was okay. The waitress was friendly. The funniest part was when a young boy came to apologize to a woman for hitting her with a fry. My daughter got hit by a young girl with her collectible frisbee, whereas she came to apologize too. Good parents promoting apologies. We went to Wee Pub last night and really enjoyed it. I had naked chicken wings and my husband had fish and chips--but subbed onion rings. The wings were just fine and the fish was excellent . I had a few drinks and they were pretty strong--so pretty good value. What made the meal really wonderful was the live music. We found out that the main performer was Eddie Pickett, and Dr. Google informs me that he's owner/partner at Wee Pub Beach. In any case, the music was very good, especially for us because the music was largely from the 70s. read more

Typical pub food but our food was good. My nachos were piled sky high and I like that the toppings were evenly distributed throughout. It's the worst when you get past the first layer of nachos and there's nothing but a stack of plain neglected nachos. Thankfully, that wasn't the case with the PADDY SANCHEZ NACHOS which was loaded with chili, lettuce, queso, shredded cheese, jalapeños, tomatoes & of course a dallop o' sour cream. For once, I had leftover toppings instead of leftover chips. Service, however, was just ok. After a food server brought our orders by, I expected a quick check-in from our waitress to see if we needed anything else but after waiting for a bit we eventually had to flag someone down for extra napkins, ketchup & eventually to-go containers. I dropped into Wee Pub for a Bloody Mary and stayed for a few of them while I was in town. The Wee Pub was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, I was expecting a small English pub; but it's more like a large pub without all the traditional English foods I was also expecting. I get fish & chips and sheppard pie are the American British food staples; but was looking for something a little more British like a proper English breakfast complete with pudding. Also they would benefit by having more imported British beer and liquor choices; but the selection they had was pretty good for the island. Service was good from the bartender, but he did seem to be more into talking to everyone at one side of the bar leaving the other side needing more drink refills. But he was friendly and made a damn good Bloody Mary. read more

Amazing local pub. Exactly what we were looking for. The food is great and the staff makes you feel like family. I've been here for a few days and so far had the Reuben, Philly, and the fish and chips. Everything has been great but the fish and chips and the onion rings were standout items for me. When we walked in at lunch it was relatively empty. We should have seen that as a clue, but the reviews on here were strong so we stayed. I will say the best part of the meal was the crab dip appetizer.That dip saves the place from a one star review. I ordered the nachos which were advertised as HUGE. I was really hopeful. Then came the wait.....and then ........more of a wait.......and then.....more of a wait. Our server had ghosted us so we wound up flagging down a bartender who said she would check. 45 minutes later, my average sized plate of COLD nachos showed up. As you can see in my picture, the cheese is not melted even a little bit. I was so disappointed. Skimpy toppings as well. Service can make or break a meal for me. The first night we ate here we had incredible service. The food was FANTASTIC. I had the grilled fish tacos and steamed broccoli. We finished by trying both the bread pudding and ooey gooey cake. The Bread pudding should not be missed! Incredible!! The cake was very good too! Large serving that we could take for leftovers. The second time we ate here the service was NOT good. No refills, no check backs during the meal. I had the chili and it was very good but the Caesar salad lacked and I could never get extra dressing because the server never returned. Not exceptional busy at the time we went so I'm not sure what the issue was. I will say my husband really enjoyed his fish and chips, the #1 menu item. We would definitely recommend and hope you get a better server when you go. Ambiance is very nice if you sit outside, otherwise it's a very pub feel Inside. read more

My mother and I were staying on the island, and since we were visiting we were looking for a place to eat dinner. This was a very slow part of the year, so very few customers were in the area, and a number of places were shutting down early due to lack of business. However, the Wee Pub Beach was open later, so that is where we went. Entering, we found that there was a two-person band playing. When we asked if there was a seat further away from the band, we were told that the only table available was right up in the front of the restaurant, fairly close to the entrance and the band. Ah well, I guess we would just have to shout in order to hear each other's conversation. Why restaurants, even pubs and sports bars, feel that they need to amplify the music so loud that no one can hear themselves think, let alone speaking to others across the table from them, is beyond me. Anyway, aside from my ranting about restaurant music being entirely too loud for its own good (and don't get me wrong... I love good music... it isn't about the music, it is about the venue!), the place is a good one. They have the standard items you would expect to find in an Americanized Irish pub, and I went for the fish and chips. My mother went for a couple of appetizers, as nothing else on the menu was piquing her interest. The fish and chips were quite good... nice flaky fish, the chips were solid, and the battering on the fish wasn't excessive. The fish also came in a large quantity, so it was certainly filling. If it is later at night, the Wee Pub Beach is definitely worth your time, even when it is the place of last resort. read more

We stayed on Jekyll Island and decided to try this pub for dinner. The service and food were both excellent. We ordered the crab dip, which I highly recommend, for an appetizer. We shared the fried shrimp meal, the shrimp were huge and was very tasty although it wasn't fried correctly as it fell off as we attempted to eat it. For dessert we tried the Butter-Pecan Bread Pudding with ice cream, per server recommendation. This was another excellent choice. read more

Came here for lunch today and the crab dip was delicious! Now...everything else plus the service was bad. I came in at noon and promptly ordered a crab dip appetizer and a Black and Bleu burger. At the time, there was not many people there. The crab dip came out within minutes. 45 minutes later, my burger still hadn't come out and I watched a few people that had come in and order WELL after me receive their entrees. I asked the waitress about the status of my order because I had ordered 45 minutes earlier and instead of apologizing for the long wait or simply going to check, she sniped that all the orders piled in at once...which was true for the orders that came in about 15 minutes AFTER I had ordered. So she finally goes to check and comes back with my burger saying "lucky...went to check and it was ready!" The burger...I ordered medium...was well done. And...it was stone cold! The broccoli that I ordered as the side instead of fries...stone cold! I'm pretty sure my order was ready for a long time and just sat there because of the inept staff. We visit this area each year, for our annual Turkey Day vacation! Each year, it is our tradition to have Thanksgiving lunch here! Let me just say, I was relieved the moment I walked into this restaurant! I found it hard to find a place where it was more relaxed and not so uppity on Jekyll island. Definitely 5 stars on ambiance and the fun Irish vibe (shelves lined with empty Jameson bottles) you get the moment you walk through the door. For an early dinner, it was pretty empty, we were sat all right away. My husband got the wings and I stayed with a classic Bangers and Mash. The wings were mediocre and fries were meh. The bangers and mash had a nice flavor, but half of my mashed potatoes weren't even warm. We went to have dinner as a family of 6 on Tuesday right at peak dinner hours. There was a bit of a wait, but nothing major. It was our first time dining here and we were pleasantly surprised with some pretty good food. The shrimp on the platters are massive! The kids enjoyed their meals and shakes as well. We had great service from our waitress, despite it being a packed house. Only "downfall" was our Pina Coladas weren't very well made. They were full of not well-blended ice, but otherwise tasted pretty good. (Who doesn't love a good cold pina colada after a day on the beach, right?) read more
