Nobody moved so she called the police for assistance... again, understandable. Meanwhile, she had her staff in the pool with Lightning 3 miles away. By law, pools have to close if Lightning is within a 10 mile radius. This would be a form of negligence if anyone was struck and can result in prison time. This happened around 10:30AM on 9/27/25.

The capacity of Kiwanis Sprayground is 90 kids and kids under 3 must wear waterproof diapers to prevent unwanted accidents. The water park has staff that monitors the grounds for kids accidents and the staff is pretty prompt about temporarily closing the whole Waterpark down and cleaning up kids accidents, which is nice. The Water park features a dragon, a gator, flowers, a pirate ship slide, hoops, a mushroom waterfall, and a dolphin with water everywhere! Next we visited Highlander's Aquatic Center Pool with 2 slides that the kids loved. The pool was clean, had a lifeguard, and had friendly staff! The aquatic center has swimming classes and after school kids babysitting programs. Highlander Park's Kids playground is officially designed for kids 5-12, has 4 slides, a fish theme, a rock climbing wall, and swings. The kids playground is not covered from the sun is about medium in size. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here just for the playground but it's a nice addition to complement everything else kids can do at this park. Highlander Park occupies a whopping 70 acres and is Dunedin's second largest park. Highlander Park has a multi-use recreation area featuring the Dunedin Community Center, the Fine Art Center, 3 playgrounds, picnic tables, picnic pavilions, tennis courts, sand volleyball, baseball little league fields. Highlander park hosts many community events here including the annual Dunedin Celtic Festival which I had the pleasure of attending many moons ago. If you're in Westchase, Oldsmar, Dunedin, or Clearwater, I highly recommend making a short drive to Dunedin's Highlander Park to give your kids hours of fun!

Had a slightly traumatic experience today. My 7 year old got stuck (for 5 to 10 minutes) in the big slide which is pitch dark all the way through (fun but not when you get stuck) and he wasn't helped promptly. Full story - I was up there at the slide entrance and i could hear him screaming that he needs help. There was a staff up there (looked like a teenage kid) who had a walkie talkie. I assumed he would have informed the people in charge as soon as he got stuck. I kept talking to my son to lie down and try to push himself down and he kept responding saying he's trying everything but is still stuck and it is getting very uncomfortable. After a while I checked with the staff whether someone is coming to help. And then I see him telling on the walkie talkie "the boy is stuck on the slide can someone help?". I was shocked. It must have been a good 5 minutes (no watch, just guessing) and he just thought of informing?! By the time someone could come, my son finally managed to push himself down. I told the guy "you should have informed quicker" and his response was "talk to my manager". I thought "ok no use talking to the teenage kid he probably wasn't trained how to react in these situations". I went to the manager and told her "please train your staff to inform quicker" her response "he probably was sitting down, we cannot do anything about this" i go "No he was lying down this time.. first time he was sitting, but this time he was lying" she repeats "he probably was sitting; we don't promise how long it takes to slide; you eventually get down and that's what matters". Is this an empathetic response? I mean i get you have to stick to boiler plate legal language at times, but im not trying to sue anyone here. Im just looking for "i understand that must have felt scary, ill talk to my staff on acting quicker". I felt like I was talking to a robot both with the teenage staff and with the manager. Anyway, my husband intervened and helped the communication and both the manager and the teenage staff eventually apologized and i really appreciated it. Takeaway - If you're not staying in Holiday Inn, NorthShore Aquatic Center might be as fun for a fraction of the cost If you're staying in Holiday Inn, avoid the blue slide or go shirtless (another staff pointed out that might have helped) I see other reviews as well about untrained and disengaged teenage staff. Nowhere to change- Yes, you heard me! It's a resort style lagoon(yeah right!) with nowhere to change! We asked where the locker room was and a worker (an adult man mind you not a kid) looked at us like we were crazy to even ask that and responded arrogantly that they don't provide that. He directed me to get changed in a bathroom stall. Wth?!! So I hiked back to my car parked on another planet and then hiked back to the facility. It's was crowded with people in water that was maybe 3 feet! People were kneeling to try to stay covered by their dirt water. Bathrooms of horror- After our horrible couple of hours, we went to get changed in the bathroom like we were directed. Omg! Nowhere to put your things but on a filthy floor. The bathrooms smelled like pure diarrhea from the bowels of hell! Toilet paper was thrown all over the floors, empty food containers in the stalls (who is eating on a bathroom?!) Spiders and bugs everywhere- you get the picture. Took off my swimsuit to find dead bugs stuck all over my body and my sunscreen had turned green in their pool. As O attempted to changeover a filthy toilet, I could hear everyone in there complaining about how disgusting the place was and how shocked they were that they were not provided with anywhere to get changed. This place is the perfect example of misleading marketing. They built it as a luxury experience, but it is anything but. Common courtesy is nonexistent here. Don't expect to get a lounge chair with an umbrella because they are "sold out" within the first hour. Talk about being completely unprepared to deal with customers coming to location. Pretty much everyone was complaining in the pool about how filthy it was and how they had no idea that they were going to be restricted to a tiny shallow portion of the pool. You are better off using your own pool at home or the pool in your resort then driving over here and using this place to cool down. Many of the people there were residence and were all complaining about how dirty the facility was and that there is only one place to swim for so many developments and homes. To head insult to injury, I was sent a survey after leaving to learn more about my experience. I quickly provided feedback which was a limited space to provide feedback in. Once I sent it, I was emailed a coupon for 15% off. It was completely tone deaf. It was an auto generated email. I clearly stated that I will never come back there again or recommend the place to anyone and there has been zero follow up. You would think that somebody would be calling to discuss these concerns as they were evident of health code violations. No, no call yet! Go get your own risk and try to enjoy your dirty kiddie pool experience! Once was enough for me!

While there have been some positives, the overall direction, especially in recent years, has been disappointing. The biggest issue is a clear decline in customer experience. The Metro Development Group management team seems to have lost sight of what made this place successful in the first place: its residents. The very people who built the Lagoon's reputation are now being treated like an afterthought. One example is the entry process. Residents used to have a dedicated entry and bag check, which made sense and showed value for membership. That has slowly been phased out, leaving members stuck in long general admission lines. For a paid membership experience, that's simply unacceptable. Even more frustrating is the constant rollout of new systems that feel unfinished. Instead of leveraging existing member data, residents are repeatedly forced to re-register as if they're brand new. This creates unnecessary confusion--for both members and staff--and leads to avoidable issues. This past weekend, I watched a longtime "legacy member" family of five get told only the father existed in the system. The rest of the family had been removed and would need to enter as guests. That's not just inconvenient--it's embarrassing and unacceptable for a venue of this caliber. I had a similar experience myself. I used my membership card to check in and purchase a drink with no issue. Less than an hour later, the same card suddenly "didn't exist" in the system. I was forced to go through the entire setup process again. There's clearly a lack of consistency and reliability in their system. At this point, it feels like this location is being used as a testing ground for new processes rather than being properly managed. If that's the case, there's little evidence that feedback is being implemented or that improvements are being made for this community. Metro needs leadership with real hospitality experience--someone who understands how to run a high-quality, member-focused venue and deliver a consistent experience. If management is reading this: please remember what made this Lagoon successful. Invest in your residents, fix the systems, and bring back the level of service this community deserves. This was the first Lagoon in the U.S.--it should be one of the best, not one of the most frustrating.

Call and Jade assisted me at the snack shack where they have pizza and soft serve unfortunately they did not have any software available at the time when I was there or they didn't have any pepperoni ready either they just told me 15 to 20 minutes wait. It's so nice having a playground so close to Armature Works…read more I think an idyllic afternoon is grabbing a bite to eat and a drink at Armature Works and then walking with the kids to this playground/splash pad. There are restrooms here that make it easy to change your children into their bathing suits. They also have shaded picnic tables. The splash pad and playground is gated so you can let the kids run around inside while you sit and chat on the outside of the gate at the shaded picnic tables. I would highly recommend bringing swimsuits and all your water stuff if you decide to come here, because the playground part is quite small and in the same area as the splash pad. They aren't separated, so your child will most likely get wet whether you want them to or not if you come here, better to just prepare for them to get wet. The splash pad has one of those buckets that fill up and then dump all over the children, which I find kids absolutely love. There is also a ropes climbing part that they can get to a crows nest, so I would say the ideal age for this play area is between four and 10. I have a five year-old and a seven-year-old and they loved it.
