I happened to be driving by La Cascia's with my son and told him that I used to stop by there every…read moreweek almost a decade ago to get the best steak tip subs in the state and he was in for a treat. So I get a large Chip's Tip sub and a few pastries for snacks. The bill was steep for what I got but I thought it would be worth it for my son to try the sub. After getting it, we split the sub and ate it in the car. Let me tell you that this was not the same steak tip I remembered. It was so bad, we tossed it in the garbage at the gas station next door. The steak was very tough and hard to chew - almost like the tips had been cooked earlier and then reheated for my order. Everything just seemed greasy. We also did not enjoy the raspberry turnover or yellow cream cannoli's we got for dessert. Maybe it was us or maybe it was the food but I will never go there again. We are not food snobs by any stretch of the imagination, and I rarely will say anything bad about a restaurant experience but we ended up going to Augusta's which is just a little bit down the road, for chicken just to erase this experience from our mouths. I know a lot of people will swear by their steak tip subs and that is great but it's just not for me anymore.

It is a wonderful bakery of bundt cakes. Why can't they have more than one kind of frosting? I'm not asking for a frosting bar (although far be it from me to be the one to discourage that kind of thinking), but cream cheese frosting is a very specific flavor and not everybody likes it. Buttercream seems like a pretty easy, and the odds of someone liking it if they do not like cream cheese frosting are pretty good. When I asked about an alternative the staff was very nice about it, I just could not hide my surprise. I really want those bundt cakes, but unless something is done about that hideous frosting, I am going to have to take a pass. This makes me sad.

Wegmans is about all the prices you like from Market Basket combined with the high quality and service that a Roche Bros offers. The prices are very good, and there is just an occasional item (like any other store would have) that is overpriced. There's plenty of great deals to be found to offset these items though. Selection is about the best you are going to get if you are a middle to high end shopper, and if anything, the better selection does save you money. Market Basket does omit many things that you are forced to buy name brand for, particularly in almond butter. Since Wegmans does have a store brand available for almond butter and MB does not (must buy name brand at MB), I pay $2 less per jar of almond butter at Wegmans. This is the same story for sorbet. Wegmans has great quality store brand sorbet bars and a great sorbet sold in quarts. At MB, I have to pay up for Haagen Dazs to get decent sorbet. That being said, for the low end shopper, it may not be the best selection but I think there's enough close substitutions available for missing items like hood ice cream (which is wegmans ice cream) so you won't leave feeling deprived. And then you'll still save buying their value pack items throughout the store so you can still get most of the benefits of Market Basket and get the great deals on value packs you'd normally have to go to Costco for. Prepared foods are of high quality, and the pricing on many items reflects that. The prepared foods here is more like what you would expect from a middle market sit down restaurant like Bertucci's. read more

Wegmans is the ultimate grocery store experience. They truly have to broadest offering under one roof. I do find that Wegmans is priced better than Market Basket, and has better quality meat, seafood, and deli departments as well. Wegmans breadth of store brand selection is absolutely superior to any store out there, which does further reduce your grocery bill. They do also offer value packages of many products, which amounts to about 3/4 of what is in your typical Costco or Sam's Club. Thankfully, since this store is reachable for me at least a few times each week, I can take advantage that I can buy these products without paying for a club membership. A good example is 72 kcups go for $27 which about $1 per 12 less than their regular pack pricing or $1.50 per 12 less than Stop & Shop, Market Basket's, or Shaw's pricing for store brand k cups. Sign up for their free Shoppers Club program and they will send you $6-$7 in weekly coupons. read more

I do not know what the hype is all about. I bought a box of blueberries a few weeks ago and I probably should have taken a huge hint that there might have been something wrong with them as while I was selecting the perfect box, a produce worker was removing them from the display. He could have taken the initiative to tell me that they were past peak. No words were spoken. When I got home I realized they were moldy and super tart. Threw them away. Further, I was disappointed with the quality of the produce/fruits in general. Market Basket has a bigger and better selection all day long. They do offer a huge selection of gluten free items. They are also open until midnight daily which is a plus. The cheese section is pretty good. I was able to buy freshly shredded gruyere cheese. Booze section awesome if you like booze. They stock plenty of it. The booze section shuts earlier than store closing. read more

Our friend had addressed this issue multiple times and even with head office he told us. The problem was inconsistent availability of hand wipes at entrances to store, to wipe carts from who knows what bacteria or gross wiping might be contained. It finally seemed to have got fixed via a new supervisor..and good for many months. This mirning we shopped and we do love the store, arrived 8:05 am. To our surprise no wipes at either door. Told person at customer service counter and he was going to take care of it immediately. To our greater surprise, we left the store at about 9:10 am, and guess what? Still no wipes!! Going to see if maybe they fell back to old habits and complain myself to corporate. Otherwise, I would easily give 4.5 stars. read more

I love love love this place!!!! I don't enjoy grocery shopping normally, but I love coming here. It's clean, the staff is kind and really show they want to help you. They have EVERYTHING too!!!! They also have this awesome app that helps you to find things in the store, and you can create a shopping list on there as well! I'm serious this place has made shopping into an art form. Someone put a lot of thought into the customer service aspect of this place. Also the fact they can sell liquor and beer in their store eliminated a whole trip for me, and they have imports too! I just can't stress this enough, if you haven't been here it's worth the drive to come. :) read more

There are only certain days I will even try to come to this grocery store.. Usually on the weekends it's way too packed to even try to get in the store and actually shop. We come here for the Lemon Pepper Rotisserie Chicken which taste so so good. Probably the best Rotisserie chicken I've ever had! However the downfall seems to be the lettuce/produce section, I can never seem to buy romaine lettuce from here since it's always wilted and old. I wish they would check their some of the produce they have here, it seems extremely old every time I come here. read more

Wegmans is by far the best grocer around. In many cases you can get the same products at Whole Foods for a lower price. For the shopper who wants to get out with the lowest possible bill, you are in luck here too as the prices are typical grocery store staples are the lowest around, even when you compare to Market Basket and especially if you buy their value packs. read more

Bigger is NOT always better. This is just a food warehouse and I was NOT impressed. Overpriced. Good for lazy people that don't know how to or want to cook and just buy things premade or in bulk.
