When it comes to reviewing Wegman's... well words cannot really describe the enormity of the place. I don't think I need to explain what a supermarket is, so let me get to the point. This place is big, really big, and they have a lot of stuff. By stuff I mean food, drinks, flowers, herbs, home products, etc, all the stuff. Their selection is really mind boggling, especially in their unique sections like international. Normally to buy a tomatillo, Goya coconut milk, serano chili, and fabric softener you'd have to drive all over the place. Wegman's has it all in one place so you don't have to search around. They also have their own brand which is actually pretty good. I normally don't trust generic products but theirs are good, and have clear labeling that I wish the brand name stuff would use. And then there's the food court area. They have a fairly massive section with things like a deli, sushi, Asian buffet, pizza, cheeses, seafood, and gourmet salads all in a big L shaped ring. There are usually all sorts of free samples for you to try, and when you decide on something, you can go up on the mezzanine and watch the ensuing chaos below while you eat. I don't know why I don't shop here more often. I guess I've always had the impression that it's kind of far from downtown Baltimore, but it's really no further up Rt 83 than say Towson Town Center, which I frequent for my retail therapy sessions. Wegmans is enormous. Not to mention it is also next to a retail shopping center so you can get your retail therapy fix and grocery shopping done all in one stop! I could probably spend all day in Wegman's if I wanted to. There are aisles and aisles of produce. You're supposed to weigh out and print price labels for your produce prior to checking out, which totally brings back childhood memories of pretending to be a grocery store cashier and making my mom buy all the plastic produce toys that I had. Aside from all the grocery items, almost half of the store is dedicated to prepared food items. I've been to Wegmans just to eat lunch. There are so many kinds of food to try--from sushi and Asian stir fry to pizza and subs. There's also a wide selection of premarinated meats, which would be great for grilling in the summer time. Wegmans is the best grocery store ever!!! They have an incredible selection of all the basics - and much better prices than other stores in the area. The specialty aisles are why I go there. No other general grocery store has the imported items, cheese, bakery, organic and other special selections that Wegmans does. Their produce area is fantastic, higher quality and more selection than any other store in town. I don't buy much of the prepared meals, but enjoy browsing thru for ideas. Everything looks delicious. The cafe has decent Chinese buffet lunch and excellent salad bar. Coming to Wegmans is more a pleasure than a chore. It has ruined me for any other grocery store - no place else compares. read more

Since I was only a weekend visitor to this area, I do not have much experience with the grocery section of this store but the food court is amazing! I could have come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all four days I was staying at the hotel across the road and still not run out of food choices. Even more impressively, they have a large, comfortable dining area upstairs with free wi-fi internet. The downsides are price and crowding. I could probably do better than their per-pound price at a local restaurant and the aisles in the food court area tend to get very congested at meal time. read more

I had such a great experience shopping at Wegmans. The nearest store is about 45 minutes from my house, but I think it is well worth the drive. The store is clean and the organic foods section and international foods section are both awesome. They have so many great products, and some unique ones that I can only find in expensive health food stores otherwise. The employees are always friendly and helpful, which is a huge plus. I The Market Cafe has an amazing selection of foods to choose from. They have hot bars filled with a ton of different options: Chinese, Vegetarian, Indian, BBQ, etc. The sushi is great too. You can choose to take your Market foods home with you, or eat right in the store in the huge seating area that has tables downstairs and upstairs. read more

Wegmans coming to Maryland is like the second coming of Jesus... and I can't exactly say that the reaction is unwarranted. The "market" side of the store is pretty fresh and fantastic, although the staff is not always the most helpful around. The rest of the store is pretty much par for the course, but the freezer section has wood paneling.... oooh. The natural foods section is quite comprehensive/impressive. I agree with whoever said not to go on a weekend. The entire shopping center is a zoo on the weekends and around holidays (which happen to be some of the only times I'm in the area), and you have to be REALLY patient about finding a parking spot. Or just park far away and walk. It's good for you. If I lived in the area, I don't think I would patronize Wegmans as my usual grocery store. The "Gucci Giant" around the corner is now always virtually empty because of the business Wegmans sucked away from it, and Giant has most of the same stuff, grocery-wise. read more

Where do I even start.... I love love love this place! Everything from bagels to soups. They have a great bakery where they make delicious bagels, muffins and bread. The cafe is also absolutely awesome. My favorites are the italian food and the soups. I would definetely recommend the shrimp bisque soup, chilli and organic tomato soup, they're delicious. From italian I really like the meatballs, not a big fan of their chicken parmesan though. Some of the indian food I've tried there is also good like samosas. Definetely a great place for a quick and delicious lunch, beats all other fast food places. read more

This is my bi-weekly shopping place. My husband and I always go on a Saturday or Sunday. We get something to eat first in the cafe and people watch form above. Then we shop. Wegman's is a great grocery store, hands down. While some people say it's too expensive, Wegman's prices on staples (milk, toilet paper, pasta, etc.) is actually better than other local stores (Giant, Mars, Safeway). They also have a better selection of store brands which actually taste good and are less expensive than the major brands. They DO however, convince you to buy more than the basics, by offering such a great selection of high quality food. Wegman's Nitrate free thick sliced bacon will make you think you've never had "real" bacon before it's so good. (True, it's expensive, but they sell the cheap stuff too.) The Trois Petit Couchons Black Pepper Mousse is my favorite for those of you who like Pate (it's available next to the soft cheeses in the cheese department). Spread on a fresh slice of Italian bread from the bakery and it's fantastic. The Triple Berry pie is the best pie I've ever had, with high quality berry ingredients. I don't buy it all the time (how could I at $15), but whenever I splurge, I'm happy. The meat and seafood is always the freshest and highest quality around, and you'll never find brown spots covered by price labels like I have at Giant and Mars. The prices are also competitive as long as you stay away from the pre-assembled kabobs and the stuffed fish. But if you're buying basic cuts, you get a good price. One complaint is that they don't have more ethnic food, but they have a decent (if minimal) selection, and you can usually get by. If you're looking for something less common, you won't find it there, but for most of your basics you'll be fine. Overall, high quality goods, and good prices on the regular stuff. If you can avoid temptation, you can get away with great prices, but good luck with that. read more

First things first... open til 12:00am 7 days a week (as of this post)! This is by far the most impressive grocery store I have ever seen! Think Whole Foods made sweet, sweet love to Walmart... and only the best traits of each were passed on to their love child! Excellent customer service. My fiancé and I were in town for a wedding, and were looking for bars and restaurants to hit while we were in the area... Too bad we spent about 3 hours (in 2 days, so we are not completely insane) walking around Wegman's! For comparison's sake, maybe through Costco in to the love triangle since they offer fresh samples of a variety of their foods!! If you need snacks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack at 10:30pm when you are already hungover after waking up from a post-day-drinking adventure... Wegman's, plain and simple! i ordered a delivery with wegmans. the order was 3 hours late, and two items they charged me for were not present. they said its instacarts problem. called instacart and they had someone who can't even speak english say i have no information on order, order number she said can't use, and basically did nothing. never order delivery from wegmans. they are cheats and liars. they act stupid like they don't know they stole my money. never shopping at wegmans again. poor customer service on wegmans and instacart, the company you hire represents you as a brand. wegmans and instacart are pathetic and have poor customer service and acquisition skills, i guess you get big and screw the little guy, it will bite you in the ass one day. wegmans! wegwimps is more like it. read more

I've been shopping at this Wegman's location for many years. My experience this past weekend was the last straw. They had 4 registers open with lines going down the frozen food aisles. Customers were all crowded in that area with their shopping carts looking around, hoping someone would open up another register. It was so crowded and at times claustrophobic feeling that a man even passed out and 911 had to be dialed. It was around 8 pm on a Saturday evening. There's just no excuse for such poor customer service. I've worked in grocery before and have seen store managers and front desk personnel get on registers just to thin out the lines. Yeah, that didn't happen, The overall customer service at this location has gone to hell. Compared to other Wegman's locations I've been to this one is by far the worst. I also find their organic produce selection to be quite sad. So many pears and apples are badly bruised. I am done with this location unless I urgently need an item they carry. Otherwise, I will take my business elsewhere because the Hunt Valley location needs to seriously change how they care for customers. read more

I am a seafood lover and they did not have ANY seafood. I normally get oysters or Cherry stone clams but I did not see any of those items. I have not been to the Hunt Vally location in a minute. OK, being from Upstate NY, I grew up on Wegman's. To us Upstaters, Wegman's is a magical place, rivaled only by Disney World and is a completely acceptable place to 'hang out' on occasion (we don't have much else to do up there anyway). I take high offense to anyone who disagrees with me. At every Weggie's I've been to, the quality of their food is amazing, the staff is always super friendly and the prices aren't bad at all. The store in Cockeysville is no exception! At the risk of sounding like an utter weirdo, I'll admit, the first thing I did when I moved down here was find the closest Wegman's, So, I drove the 15 minutes and viola! I felt like I was (almost) back home. The store itself is pretty new looking and very clean. They had a HUGE selection of everything and I was not disappointed by the quality of my choices. I *highly* recommend their muffins and their subs are THE best subs I've ever had! You can taste the fresh quality! The only downside is shopping on a Sunday; it's awful and enough to make anyone claustrophobic. Not cool. I was also not a fan of the layout. All in all, Wegman's is pretty much the most amazing grocery store EVER. All you haters seriously have no taste, so please, go shop at your Whole Foods or Super Wal-Mart. I have to say this is the best grocery store I have ever been to and I like it a lot. They have lots of fresh foods and lots of stuff prepared ahead of time. Shoot it's almost like a restaurant in there. They have pretty much everything you might need. The selection is outstanding. Great produce and great fruit. I also liked that they had quite a few different types of gourmet foods the kind of things you won't find in a regular supermarket. The prices are a little high but you can probably save gas by getting everything you need in one place. I don't think there was a single thing I could think I wanted that they didn't have. The service is not bad either they have a lot of people walking around and most were helpful and knowledgable. The lady doing my checkout was a little slow but I may just have gotten in the wrong line. I would go to this store every week if it was closer to my house. read more

Rarely shop here because it's pricier & customer service is NOT what they advertise. However, my daughter bought some cream cheese there.when we opened it, there was mold in it. I returned it to customer service, showing the receipt & noting that the sell by date was November 15, 2012. The manager told me ,in a rude manner, that this could not be a Wegman's product although the container was clearly marked Wegman's. She refused my refund. I have been going to this Wegmans since it opened and have been quite happy with the selection. However, today when shopping, I arrived at the meat department only to find the entire section practically empty. I have never been to a grocery store where you could not find one pack of chicken breasts, no chicken period. There was no ground turkey...nothing, not kidding, it was empty. Looked like the milk case and bread aisle right before a 1-inch snowstorm in Baltimore. So, I asked an employee behind the beef counter about it and he acted like it was a normal occurrence and not a big deal, "It happens here" he said. I think the buyers need to step it up and do a little more research on the buying trends at this location. The sushi is delicious!!!!! They also have very nice fresh juices and cold cut sandwiches! Lots of vegan and vegeterian options that are ready to eat meals besides just vegan cheeses and tofu products! I live 5 minutes from Safeway, but I still drive half an hour each way to shop at Wegman's. It's simply the best grocery store on Earth. The deli counter is always packed but you never have to wait too long. All employees are friendly and professional. Their selection is never ending. They also have a restaurant inside the store. My lady friend and I usually stop there first to avoid shopping on an empty stomach. The sandwiches are top notch. Since I've been going to Wegman's the prices have been going up and up to the point where I generally just avoid it now. There are no more $6 meals and the choice for $7 and $8 meals are limited. Plus, their deli luncheon meat selection is also very limited. I really like the fresh soup, but $8 for a quart it's quite painful. I could spend hours in this incredible grocery store. It is not your typical grocery store at all, there are so many varieties of everything from teas to cheeses you've never even heard of. I love going here in the fall because they have incredible apples and Carmel dips. Which I'm sure they have them year round but they just taste better in the fall. It's no more expensive than a giant or Safeway either. Which is great, because I find that Whole Foods is just laughable with it's prices. Wegmans also has an abundance of kitchen stuff, like pots, pans, plates, aprons, really cool glasses and other cool stuff you wouldn't even think about. It's a really fun store and it's HUGE! What a disappointment, I walk around trying to find the things I want and after 40 minutes I am ready to check out. Maybe $150 to $175 worth of groceries and prepared food and only 4 registers open plus 2 express. So I get in line the light is on and I wait my turn, but no the woman says she is closed and the person in front of me will be her last. Why have me wait 5-6 minuets before telling me , why not turn off the light so I would know she was closed. To top it off it said handicap accessible and I'm handicap. I could not stand another 15-20 minuets in line so I left, open extra registers when people are in line excessive amounts of time !! read more

I'm in Hunt Valley pretty often (and even more often now that I work a lot closer) so I have no idea HOW I had not been to Wegman's yet. I was seriously missing out. I actually kind of wish I hadn't come in today because I forsee it being a huuuge money drain considering all the awesome stuff they have here. My coworkers and I stopped in for lunch today and to do a little shopping and I was completely ovewhelmed (in a good way). There were a ton of places to get take-away food... sandwiches, pizza, salads, crabcakes, mac and cheese, Indian food, sushi... literally way more choices than you could possibly need. After walking around going "I want this! No I want that!!! Or wait, what about this...?" I settled on a chicken caesar sandwich at one of the little sandwich places/bakeries. It was sooo good. Really fresh chicken, yummy bread, good caesar dressing. Added a little thing of chocolate chip cookies and it was definitely a good lunch. There's a whole set-up of tables on the second floor (a ton of tables) but they were super crowded at lunch time. Afterwards, we did a little bit of shopping... great selection of fruits and veggies, meat, seafood... everything. They have a ton of ethnic foods, way more than you would find at Safeway or Giant. And a non-grocery plus, they had a huge selection of Burt's Bee's stuff. The prices on things I normally buy were about the same price as what I pay at Giant, and some were a little cheaper. In conclusion, my checking account balance and credit cards will suffer because of my newfound love for Wegman's, but I will be very, very happy. read more

I love Wegmans maybe not as much as Whole Foods but its pretty close. This supermarket opened up in 2005 and has been a success ever since. Its huge, but my favorite thing is the subs. Its the bread, the soft honey wheat is so delicious. You have to come and have a freshly made sub...everything good. This store is humongous anything and everything you could think of they have starting from fresh produce to precooked items for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to see that all items were reasonable priced. The only thing I could see lacking at this establishment is more employees on the floor to assist customer find items they can not find. Over all I had a nice experience visiting this location. I have to say that I was impressed by Wegman's. I went in with a huge group to their lunch area. They had everything a girl could want - pizza, salad, sandwiches, sushi, deli, the list goes on. Anyway, I had some pasta from the deli and I was very happy. They have some nice seating upstairs as well, so that everyone can enjoy their meal.
