I've never been to Wegman's prior to now working in Hunt Valley. This place is huge! Because I'm too lazy to fix my lunch, this has been my go to spot for my lunch break. The hot bar is huge! It's been YEARS since Wegman's has been here now so I've had a pretty good taste of the place, enough so that I feel my review is nothing but fair... I have a lot more good to say but there are a few "dirty marks" on the chalk board as well. The Good: 1.) FRESHEST fruit & veggies! (and nicely displayed, hell... it's as if they care!) I know, I know, isn't that EXPECTED? Guess what? Not so much in this area!!! The local GIANT's vegetables section is appalling & surprisingly overpriced for something that's near turned while it's still on the shelf! You're lucky to buy anything there that doesn't turn in less than 2 days... The MARS in Cockeysville has a very small selection (in fact... seriously 45% of the entire stock is made up of a variety of Apples... not kidding. The fruits and veggies that they do have are pre-packaged so that you can't just buy one of something. Not being able to buy more or less of something & get exactly what you need is an inconvenience. In fact, it can potentially be wasteful... I know it wastes my time going in there... In fact, the only place I've been to that has as much variety & quality (in Baltimore County) is the SAFEWAY in Parkville. Yep. I miss living close to that place... I can actually say they have some things I miss because I can't get it at Wegmans... True fact! 2.) Online shopping list w/ aisle info. & map! Ever get lost in the grocery store or forget where the condiment aisle is? Or maybe you have limited time & need to get everything & get out quick! Wegman's online list has made it so much easier to find things... If I get time to put it together, I do! It also lets you know how much your estimated total is & what is on sale. 3.) Pricing is suprisingly inexpensive! Of course, if you're looking for something rare, you're going to pay a little for it... but I suppose you know it's rare & that you would pay more for it anyway? It's a bit of a myth that they're expensive... I do believe it's because the prepared foods are a bit on the pricier side. Like the pies... $16 for a pie... isn't that a bit steep?? NO. It's not.... when its... 4.) Triple Berry Pie!! My family in Southern MD (2 hours away) begs for it at Thanksgiving... They make them fresh every day & can run out quick, I was happy to see them skip the lattice & go with crumble topping so that they could produce more last year. I had missed out the year before & my family was completely disappointed!! 5.) Lunch! Fresh olive bar, salad bar, hot bar, fresh bakery, sushi, subs, etc... everything you could want for lunch in one convenient location! The Bad: 1.) Lunch! Didn't I just say that was good?! Well, downside to it is that when you have everything everyone wants... you get crowded, there's no parking, there are lines.... During the week it can be trying to get in there for lunch unless you go a little early or late. 2.) Bit pricey on the Baked goods... 3.) The Organic section It is quite large & though it might be convenient to hipsters, vegetarians & vegans that everything is in one place, it could also be nice to have the vitamins near the other medicines.... etc. Same with the gift card & magazine section vs. the "home items" they're split up & I just think all non-food might be better in one place... Personal opinion though... The Ugly: Not too much to say on the "ugly" but.... 1.) MAJORITY (not all) of the employees are jerks. It seems that some of the check-out staff that work at Wegman's seem to have this "I'm better than you because I work at Wegman's" attitude. Um, yea, get your head out of your ass & pack my groceries neatly in a bag. You still work at a grocery store & it's your job to provide good service. Get over yourselves & just take care of the customers... 2.) DON'T FORGET YOUR Club Cards!!! I signed up for mine online... I had a card, but one day thought it would be cool to download the app that would let you scan your phone at places instead of carrying cards... NOT at Wegmans... wouldn't even humor me & try it. SO because I didn't have it on me, we tried my number... I was told it didn't work so I must go to the customer service area to "update" my phone number (it hasn't changed in years) and I was told my total once again... so I asked the checkout staff if that meant I was unable to get my discount, she told me to "Calm down, I have to call a manager..." So then I had to wait... and wait.... until finally a manager came with a card attached to a lanyard around their neck as if it was a fine gold chain.... Is it REALLY that serious??? From then on anytime anyone has been in front of me & said they didn't have a card, I have offered them to use mine so they can get the discount without having to go through all of that crap. So... even with the bad & the ugly sides to Wegman's... the overall good points definitely outweigh the bad... and after being to the Giant quiet a few times.... yea, THAT'S the extra star. read more

Used to be a loyal shopper of Hunt Valley Maryland location but now go to new Trader Joe's! The staff has become rude, unhelpful and even the manager said "we are busy here, we just try and get you in and out as quick as possible". Grocery store nirvana!!!! HUGE selection of cheese, meats, (PRIME MEAT!!! SO FREAKIN' GOOD!!), AWESOME fresh seafood; PRODUCE ROCKS!!, all sorts of high-end funky bakery goods, meats, cheeses, seafoods, etc.; dedicated areas for import foods (I LOVE HP Brown sauce-- good source! and if I run low on fish sauce, I know where to find it!); dedicated hippy-food area; large, well-stocked regular grocery store area, too, with pharmacy. It's not expensive if -- ONLY if-- you can restrain yourself in the fancy-pants area. Also sells lots of prepared meals which look really tasty, and has lots of seating in-store to eat them at!! My only complaint- after the cool decor and fancy variety of the gourmet area, the industrial-cheap chintzy lay out of the regular grocery store/pharmacy area is kind of a downer. Why can't the whole place look fancy?? And be warned-- the fancy area gets CROWDED!! This would be my regular store, if only I lived a bit closer. As is-- special runs are made here. Esp. if we feel like cooking something fancy at home-- for real, you can dine on prime beef and crabcakes for a fraction of the price you'd pay at the Prime Rib or similar establishement for equivalent quality. read more

99% of the people at Wegman's are fantastic! I won't bother with catering from there though. I understand the employee was probably talking to a customer on the phone but if someone is standing right in front of you for 10 minutes shifting their feet, please just glance up and acknowledge them. My choice for best grocery store, of only there were one closer to my house. Great corporate ethic, unparallelled variety of fresh meats, seafood and baked goods in one place make this the best grocery around. Also one of the best vegetable departments I've ever seen. Nice variety of Latin and Asian ingredients that most stores don't carry. Many products priced competativly with Giant and Weis markets. read more

It's like someone plopped a Whole Foods in the middle of a conventional grocery store, which is awesome. Their produce is miles ahead of conventional supermarket produce, and I love their cheese section. Their bakery is awesome, and as people have said, their food court is pretty impressive. They are not very friendly. They used to allow "socializing old ladies", disabled, and those using a laptop, in the eating area upstairs. Now the rule is, buy the food, eat it, and get out. If management notices you've finished eating you will be asked to leave. They've gone corporate in the bad way; you're always on the clock. (I hate eating with one eye on my watch.) And I note local business people don't arrive for lunch much anymore.... Their attitude is they barely tolerate their customers. I wonder why their employment turnover is so high and why their workers don't care very much. Now I know. Management only has eyes on the bottom line. ( Their most important metric is IPM- items per minute a checkout clerk moves). Def an Amazon style business if you like it. The Wegmans "Happy Family" myth can be put to rest as it's just an advert. ( Like I still believe in Santa Claus, right?) BTW this started pre covid 19 and so is nothing new. It's a shame since the chain used to standout but they do not any more. read more

I'll begin by saying I love shopping at this Wegmans. Accessibility & selections rule! I have only one minor complaint. Too much heat. Whether it's their in store guacamole or any of their other Mexican sides. Nothing is labeled "spicy" and yet I've been burned several times. Mostly by their guacamole, but most recently by their tamales. I couldn't even finish it, & I've got some pretty solid taste buds, for a former Chef. Just putting this out there that a little cautious labeling could go a long way! And yes, most times I make my own guacamole, but tamales, come on! read more

A review of this store is long overdue, I'm there at least once a week. To have that kind of selection and that many employees, and maintain a clean, organized store must be challenging. They've had the same GM since it opened. I'll give her a lot of credit for having some wonderful staff on hand. Not really buying into the hype. Their prepared foods bars are pretty extensive and the products I've tried have been good, but I think everything is ridiculously expensive for the quality. It's also always been hit or miss with availability every time I've shopped there. I'd never shop there exclusively because too many times they are out of things I want or need. Truly the Disney World of grocery stores. My grandmother and I were one of the first 10 customers in the store during its grand opening, and we still love coming to the store. I come here for speciality foods, the trail mix bar, and the gluten free/organic foods. Not my favorite place to buy staple foods, but you can get some on a deal sometimes. Wegmans store brand anything is always delicious and competitive in price, so that's a huge plus. The submarine subs are amazing. The chinese food bar is the bomb. The tarts?! Incredible. And open until midnight every night. I like to go late because it isn't crowded. I come here way too much! read more

After a lot of searching, I decided to use Wegman's catering department for all of our food needs at my sister's baby shower. The staff was attentive to my needs and the food was prepared fresh. Guests raved about the selection, and I was pleased with the quality/cost. Overall, I would recommend and order from the catering department again. Thank you, Wegmans! On a side note: If you are local (which I am not) I would go to the store and order your catered food. The website is not completely accurate with serving sizes. Excellent market. The staff is nice and courteous and they sell quality products. Even their own line of products are usually pretty good. Their hot bar can be a bit pricey, but Wegmans is definitely my favorite super market. Also Wegmans brand light yellowfin tuna, is the best canned tuna on the market!!! Customers at risk, person(s) targeting shoppers. My purse was taken right out of her cart while she was with the cart reading a label and with the many security cameras their security staff couldn't find anything and brushed her off since the purse wasn't on her arm. I've never pushed a cart and kept my purse on my shoulder personally. Unfortunately for me I was targeted from the get go. My purse was in the deepest end of the cart under the baby's car seat with a baby bag and lunch bag more exposed in the front part of the cart. It was a Vera Bradley sachel which just by eyeballing it was packed full, though zippered up as were the other two bags mentioned. I am thankful Kailea and myself came out safe though violated and feeling dismissed in a store I thoroughly enjoyed entering! I guess this person needed my property more than me! Best grocery store ever! Their prices are reasonable and they have everything. Plus....they are open til midnight. This place is literally a mile from my house, so I make runs to it constantly. My wife bought a cake from the bakery and the cake itself was excellent but the icing was just whipped cream. When I buy a cake I want icing, not whipped cream or marshmallow. They have a wide selection of prepared food which I have not tried, but everything that I've gotten from the bakery has been delicious. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Fantastic upscale grocery store. Tend to shop mostly from the east side, the other half is like a Giant or Safeway. The fish counter is outstanding - fresh gulf shrimp, huge cod loins. Amazing cheese selection, good olives, fresh produce, even handmade chocolates. I love this store, and it is definitely worth the drive from downtown a couple times/month to indulge in the foodie version of Disneyland. read more

I was recently in town for a meeting at the embassy suites across the street. On our first night, someone recommended wegmans for a quick dinner without a wait. It was such a great place, that we returned another time the next day for lunch as well. Wegmans is not only a good grocery with some good prices, but it's also a top notch international foods and restaurant. It's divided up in to easy to navigate sections. The food is very fresh (we got cornbread that had just been put out), and is actually of great quality. I would recommend this not only for shopping, but for a quick stop for lunch or dinner if you're in the area as well. I wish we had one of these in Columbus,, I would be there all the time. read more

i love wegmans!!!! i used to think that they were a lot more expensive than the typical grocery stores, but they're comparable. they have SUCH a big selection - stuff that's organic, stuff that's not organic, stuff that you don't see in regular grocery stores, pre-made meals... and everything is really fresh. i love how they have a separate cheese bar and a tea section. there is also a cafe, which has a good variety and good food. if you are feeling like a glutton, stop by their bakery section... yummm.... read more

Definitely a little expensive for things, but great for finding random foods or getting ideas. I like going with my parents (fellow foodies) to just check things out. GROSSSSS! "Plain chicken" is marinated in sugar. there is sugar in the fresh salsa. Those are 2 grocery items I expect to be additive free - and definitely NOT sweet. Gross. I can't take it anymore - this is disheartening (type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardio problems) and gross - I like chicken-flavored chicken. I like tomato-garlic-onion-pepper flavored salsa. I know the sugar sellers and re-named-high-fructose-syrup-people keep looking for new markets - new ways to "slip it to us" but this is just gross. "They" (the corn sweetener people) are already sweetening the dog treats - and why does puppy get cavities?? The dog has a sugar jones! Will cast around for true "plain chicken" rotisseried with only chicken, maybe some herbs - but how to tell? Gotta read the ingredients, who knew "plain chicken" was a brand name and not a true description of what was in that hot plastic bag. Ugh. read more

Oh I've spent hours here. I love the variety that is here. It's so large that it takes forever for me to get through the store. They have cheap groceries(canned veggies for 39cents), a large gourmet cheese and produce section, just everything. It's a little pricey but better than whole foods. My favorite grocery store in Maryland, though I only know three. Lot's of selection and sometimes even samples. Ada G sent me off with a grocery list to do the weekly shopping and aside of a few zig zags through the store for items I forgot, I managed and we were restocked for the week. This review is for the sandwich shop only, and specifically for the food itself. I never thought I would write a bad review in Wegman's but I guess all good things come to and end, including the chicken salad. Wegman's used to have the edge on the completion in Hunt Valley/Cockeysville in regards to it's deli sandwiches. The fresh bread baked daily and the copious amount of meat on the sandwich in my opinion, made Wegman's the #1 go to if you're in the mood for a deli sandwich. The produce is fresh if you wanted lettuce or tomato, and the meat was always a nice helping and fresher than any other stores around. But alas, the chicken salad has taken a turn for the worse. In the past, it would be made of what I assumed was rotisserie chicken. Today, it appeared it cubed processed packaged/can chicken. At least half inch cubes with little to no mayo. I was saddened. That will be my last chicken salad from there. I used to get the chicken salad wrap from Rofo too but the one in Hunt Valley stopped serving wraps. #MAGA :-/ read more
