Would have liked to be seated somewhere more secluded since I was dining solo. But this is more of personal thing gripe more than anything. No points were deducted from the overall score due to this. My waitress (Alma) was really attentive to needs, regularly checking up on overall satisfaction throughout my time here. Insisted on grabbing me a new set of utensils when switching meals to now cross the contaminate flavor profile. This restaurant has really nice qualities that could make it my goto. They would just need to rework their flavor profile on the dishes i've tried. I will return later to try more menu items but as for now, my score stands. (7.9/10) Mimosa orange juice // 6/10 // Flat, orange juice was not fresh. But for the price ($6) you can't really complain. Brioche French Toast // 8.5/10 French toast was really good. Not overly soggy nor lacking in flavor. Nice balance of sweetness to complement the slight saltiness of the fried chicken. The berries that come on the side of the meal were not fresh enough for my liking, Barely room temperature. The chicken was seasoned well, could be slightly more flavor to the actual chicken and not just the breading.But still flavorful nonetheless. ($22) El Pepino // 8/10 Very refreshing taste from the cucumber. The quality of tequila used was well balanced with the flavors. Although mines did not come with the cucumber ribbon garnish, the drink still packed a punch from the slight spice added. It is slighting lacking in the mint flavoring, that also may be due to cucumber being naturally overpowering. Well worth the price ($12) Chilaquiles // 6.5/10 The short rib although incredibly tender, lacked a lot of flavor on the back end. Not much depth to the flavor profile of the meat. The other ingredients were fresh and inviting to the dish. The fresh pico became a fresh palette cleanser that kept me going back for more even with the inclusion of a short rib that was really lacking any true flavor. The fried egg on top was slightly over done which didn't allow the yolk to be as runny as it could have been. For the price ($20) I fell as though this dish could have been a true star but when the main protein is lacking from the start. It only gets in the way of what it truly could have been. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch, had a 10:30am reservation and the table was ready when the first person arrived. Restaurant had about 7 empty tables so the place wasn't booming yet. The experience went downhill from here... I got water poured into my glass once I sat down but as the rest of the group arrived, we didn't see a server for about 25 minutes. Once a server came back around with more water, we asked for paper menus which never came. I walked up to the host stand to get the menus. Later, someone else in our group went up to the host stand to ask if we could get our order taken. Placed our drink and food order. I asked for an Ancho Rancho mocktail, an Aguachile Margarita mocktail arrived to which the server told me it was the same thing. I did ask for the correct mocktail to be brought out even though she insisted these were the same thing. Two of our 7 plates were served, and then... nothing. The server came out and asked if we were missing food, which we replied yes but it was awkward because 5 people didn't have plates in front of them! We also had to request more water at this point because we were all on empty. Overall, a disappointing experience. Food ordered: carrot hummus, texas summer fruit salad, and mortadella and leeks pizza. Hummus and salad were excellent and recommend, pizza was a bit too salty for my taste. read more

This is a pretty good brunch place but a little on the pricey side. I ordered the house smoked salmon. I absolutely loved the different flavors in the dish. The truffle egg scramble was delicious and had the perfect amount of truffle in it. Given the price and the number of brunch places in the Houston area, I will probably only come back for special occasions. A very surprising find. It's a fancy spot in an unexpected place. There's fresh flowers everywhere in the entrance and the quaint bakery. Everything looked very delicious and tempting. The cocktails all have great names and taste equally good. We decided to share a pizza with pepperoni and sausage. It was quite good and doesn't leave you stuffed. We also had the meatballs (5) as an appetizer, which was also good. We had a chocolate cake for dessert. My one complaint is that it's tiny, maybe a 4" diameter. It is delicious though. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for a few months. My husband and I decided to try it on Valentines Day for dinner. He made the reservation a few days prior. We were running a little late coming from Clear Lake so he called to find out if it would pose an issue upon arrival. The woman that answered the phone rudely said "hold on" and left him on hold for 9 minutes. A different woman then picked up the phone and after hearing of our late arrival told him it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived and found the parking lot to have space and were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant not packed as we originally expected. We reserved a patio table. We were the only party/couple seated on the patio which was so nice. Like having our own section! The weather was perfect as well on this night. Although I could see it being uncomfortable if it were too hot or cold. Our server quickly greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered appetizers to share. Ahi tuna and bacon. The bacon was great but I didn't like the tuna at all! There were far to many onions and it did not taste all that fresh. Our cocktails were yummy and poured to perfection! I ordered the salmon as an entree. I found it to be on the dryer side but definitely tasted fresh and the olives that accompanied were flavorful. I ordered an Irish coffee and our server brought us complimentary truffles which were amazing!! We were disappointed to hear several members of the staff loudly venting about guests that were apparently still seated in the restaurant while the staff were picking up outdoor furniture. One server/bartender even threw a chair down to the ground after hearing that a table ordered another drink (it was 9:30pm) not super late. I have heard so many good things and hyped it up to my friends and was so completely disappointed by the whole experience. We will not be returning. For these prices I expect GOOD food. The food LOOKS good. It is presented nicely (aside from the obnoxiously huge platters they serve the food on - just get normal sized plates maybe?) but that's the only good thing about the food. I ordered the brunch Benedict special which was a salmon cake on top of a corn muffin with kale and the usual poached eggs and Hollandaise. I was so excited to dig in but after about two bites I was searching for the waitress so i could get some condiments and spices. It had absolutely NO FLAVOR. The hollandaise was more frothy than creamy and just tasted like butter, not how it is supposed to taste. Same with the salmon cake. Dry with ZERO FLAVOR. Do they have seasonings in their kitchen?? I didn't even eat half of it before giving up. Money down the drain. I thought maybe I just made a bad choice but soon the rest of my guests were saying the same things. Their food and bloody Mary's were both bland and they were flagging down the server for salt, pepper and hot sauce. The only person at the table who actually enjoyed their meal was the one who got the steak and eggs so I guess that's a safe bet. Overall it was a huge let down. I had high hopes and am frankly embarrassed that I talked it up so much to my guests. I would strongly suggest going elsewhere if you want good food. read more

The waitress said the chicken in the chicken and french toast was white meat, but it was actually dark meat. A 20% charge for parties over 5. Overall, not a great experience. My wife and I decided to try the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu on a Saturday evening and were unimpressed. My wife ordered the ribeye and it was substituted for a chewy flank steak. I ordered the mahi mahi and got a dry rectangular piece of tasteless white fish. We both ordered the salmon tartare and that was good. Frankly, for the cost we could have gotten a much better meal elsewhere. The only upside is that the Food Bank will get a portion of the price. This restaurant's HRW menu is an example of the downside of HRW: restaurants that add special items (that is, cheaper) to their menu in order to participate. In my experience restaurants that do this create a truly forgettable dining experience. The best HRW experiences are at those restaurants that make items from their regular menu available during HRW so you get the food that their reputation has been built upon at a discounted price. I had the opportunity to try Weights + Measures last month with some friends. The restaurant has a decent sized parking lot for the area. The space itself is pretty spacious, with a semi-private back room, where we were seated. There are also TVs playing sports. Service was great, and our waiter was really personable. I tried the following dishes: Wood Roasted Eggplant (pickled golden raisins, red onions, anchovy, toasted almond, aged balsamic, shaved parmagiano) (3.5/5): This eggplant had an interesting mix of flavors, although something was a little weird about the flavor profile. I did enjoy the raisins with the eggplant. Chickpea Hummus (wood roasted mushrooms, wood fired flatbread, bomba de calabrese) (4.5/5): Really great hummus. The mushrooms were a really nice addition to the flavor, very savory. The flatbread was also really tasty. Avocado Salad (pickled currants, toasted pistachios, ricotta salata, oregano vinaigrette) (4/5): Very tasty, refreshing salad. All of the ingredients were super fresh, and I loved the vinaigrette. Came here for HRW 2021. It was my first time, but a tried and true favorite of my partner. HRW was a 4 course meal for $35, which is a better deal than most HRW menus, PLUS there offer a HRW bottle of wine for an additional $25! We got the cauliflower crustini and mini charcuterie to start. Both were nicely flavored, and a good small light plate to whet the appetite. Then we both had the gnocchi, which while good, we're a bit chewy and dry for my taste. Main courses were the ribeye and the mahi-mahi. The ribeye was surprisingly delicious, thinly cut but expertly cooked. The real winner here was the mahi-mahi. A wonderfully juicy interior with crisp crust, paired with a butternut squash purée. It was an inspired mix of sweet/salty, juicy/crunchy, and all round goodness. It was too much for me to finish, so my partner gladly cleaned my plate for me at the end. Finally was a dichotomous experience with creme brûlée. His had a perfectly crunch top with plump fresh fruit on top. Mine had a soupy top with yesterday's fruit. Flavors were excellent with both, but I just missed the crack of the spoon through sugar crust. Overall a fantastic option for HRW, or any other time! Make a reservation in advance on holidays (duh, right)? Luckily we were able to get seated at the bar. I don't believe that the food is worth the high price. The food is good, is it great? No. I paid $24 for a small steak that I wasn't given an option on how cooked I wanted it. The mock cocktail a whooping $6, I mean... come on (there's no alcohol). The service was not bad, our bartender did the best to try to to check up on us. The reason for my low rating is for the taste of food and the quality of drinks. My friend had an alcoholic beverage and it was as if she had a mock cocktail too. In all honesty, I rather take my money to another place where I am guaranteed better tasting food. read more

My family and I went here for Mother's Day and in my brother's glass of water he noticed a tiny roach. It was not just a fruit fly, it was very clearly a tiny baby roach. He got a new glass and found the same thing. The waiter was very kind and apologized and got him new glasses each time. My brother got the manager's attention and after explaining the situation, she told us this hadn't happened in 5 years. She apologized and asked "what would you like me to do about it?" It seemed very rude to say to a customer and made it seem like it was our fault there were two bugs in both glasses of water. Nothing was comped from our meal, and nothing more was said of the situation. Went for Houston restaurant week dinner and it was SO MUCH FOOD! My favorite dish was a starter - the Spanish Octopus - the greens were incredible and I had never seen a whole octopus tentacles prepared so nicely! However, the most flavorful starter were the oysters - I will never forget how good that yogurt tasted on the oyster - although the dish was small - only 3 oysters. My main was the crispy skin duck and DANG the rice it came on was incredible but the duck was tough to eat. I don't typically eat duck so if you get it cut it into small pieces and it will be so tasty! My waiter was very nice but SO SLOW (this is why I am giving the restaurant 3 stars - otherwise it would be 4). We were sitting there from 7PM to 1030PM because the waiter forgot our 3rd course. Even for restaurant week that is a long time and there is no reason for that. I'm sure my duck wouldn't have been so tough to eat if it had been hot. This dish alone could feed 3 people so keep this in mind if your eyes tend to be higher than your stomach like us! Our server was a gem--she made great suggestions and though the bartender wasn't there yet, the manager made me a Bloody Mary with their housemade mix. Great experience! This is a bit of a fancy restaurant that is especially suited for not only vegetarians, but also CARB LOVERS. I was visiting in town and decided to go to a nice sit-down dinner with some friends here. The drinks here are strong but tasty. We munched on the charcuterie board and tried the roasted vegetable pizza and gnocchetti (we were too tempted by what looked like gnocci in the windows to the kitchen soon after entering the restaurant). The pizza was the standout in my opinion, but everything else was solid from a flavor and texture perspective. Overall, a pretty good dining experience. Service was friendly and good at offering us options. For its price point, however, I don't think that anything really blew me out of the water. I hear they have good brunch though! read more

I got the breakfast pizza (Morning Cracked Egg Pizza) to share, and it was delicious. This isn't one of those places that skimps on the eggs (i.e. phoning it in with one cracked egg on the pizza). There were three beautifully-cracked eggs on top of my pizza. It was extremely filling, even though I only ate half of it. I also got the cake donuts and fried chicken with sautéed spinach to share. The spinach was excellent, and I've been trying to replicate it at home to no avail. The cake donuts were meh, and so was the fried chicken. Honestly pretty disappointed with the choice. FOOD I was here for happy hour and I got the ribeye meatball sliders. The sliders were pretty good, a good portion for the price and the flavor was pretty solid, although a bit too muted. The pickled vegetables brought a much needed crunch and acidicy to the sliders. Overall, I recommend if you want sliders for yourself just spring the $3 to get the burger. DRINK I got the Dark and Stormy which was really good! A strong drink with all that you expect. For $5 also well worth the price. ATMOSPHERE I really like the 70s theme going on! The music is on point and the decor is subtlety 70s, something you can either appreciate or ignore. During happy hour there weren't that many people here so it was pretty relaxing. Highly recommend the cracked egg pizza and the fried chicken with French toast ( it used to be cake doughnuts and that was amazing as well) Usually comes with a side of potatoes but this time we had to order that separately. The fried chicken was so flavorful and crispy, although I wish it boneless or chicken breast which would've made it easier to eat. We ordered the banana bread and pork belly but substituted for chicken breast. The banana bread was good not overly sweet and a bit dry. The creme fraiche complemented it well. But they were accommodating with our substitutions which we appreciated! Also ordered the banana foster latte and asked for it iced. It was okay but nothing special. There wasn't much banana flavor. Our server greeted us and first apologized that they are running lean on staff due to the parade happening outside (road closures). The lunch agenda: Fish and Chips - Crispy batter and served with chips. This is a big enough portion for 2. Their menu states there's a $3 sharing charge. Waygu Short Rib Sandwich - (I opted not to post the pic.) It's tasty and flavorful. UNFORTUNATELY after 2 bites I noticed 2 pieces of short hair (brows or beard?) on the bread and was kind of disgusted. I tried flagging down our server but he didn't see me so I got up to grab another server. I showed him and he apologized and took the plate. He asked if he can get another order put in for me but I declined because after that I didn't want to eat the same order. I just shared with the bf's fish and chips. I came here with a friend for a weeekend dinner and was surprised how empty the restaurant was. Maybe it's more of a breakfast destination? Nevertheless, it was a really solid choice for a tasty dinner. We ordered the tiger shrimp as an appetizer and this was amazing. While it only comes with two shrimp, they were very big so you could easily share this amongst four people. They were served over too a creamy, cheesy polenta which was delicious. For entrees, we ordered a kale salad and a nightly special pasta. The kale salad was good, and the pasta was good as well, but the pasta did leave something to be desired. It was supposed to be a light cream sauce, but it was pretty bland and he noodles were thick and not cooked entirely though. Decent enough, but not outstanding. We did order carrier cake for dessert and hat was phenomenal. An extremely large piece of cake with a perfectly tart cream cheese frosting.
