All the dash lights came on --- the car had over heated, and more. I was in Reno from out of town; I thought I was out of hope and out of luck. Fortunately, I got a referral to an auto repair shop from the place I was staying. The referrer said, he had been bringing his family's cars there for 20 years and the people are honest and I'd be in good hands. Next day AAA brought me to Welge Automotive. It was like going back decades to a better and nicer time. Robert, Jared, Diana, Charlene, and the other people have created a wonderful auto repair shop. As busy as they were they made room for my needs. While I was there I saw they would help anyone who came in. They helped them all; as busy as they were, they helped everyone. It's amazing how they still hold onto the business style of helping another person. Here I was not treated as a customer number or a worksheet order, I was treated as a person in need of help and that they were going to make sure I got the help I needed. The car needed help, our only car. The shop looked at things and gave honest an accurate diagnosis. Their estimates were spot on and the parts delivered quickly. They have a wonderful network of suppliers. They even know of wholesaler and help pass on the savings. Thank you very much!! They even repaired a part for far less than the whole part would have cost. When did you ever go to an auto shop that actually repaired a part and saved you money? It was wonderful. They noticed how filthy the inside engine compartment was and possibly masking other problems. They cleaned the engine for me. They saw it was built up over time and not to worry; just keep an eye on the valve cover area and gasket. No need to immediately have it replaced. They are very good people running an honest and skilled auto shop that take pride in their work and doing an honest days work to help people. I live four hours away, but I will do what other people have done after finding such a wonderful shop. I will schedule a few days vacation during the week, come up, and drop off the car at Welge Auto for an inspection and any needed work. At the end of the vacation I will pick up the car knowing it's all maintained and done so honestly. Thank you everyone for helping us, I don't know what we would have done without you. read more

What a letdown!! Came here after issues at another repair shop and thought I'd found a good one. Sadly, it wasn't to be. After trusting Welge's with our family vehicles (total of 4), paying them a substantial amount in repair costs, and even referring others here, I stopped bringing our vehicles because I am convinced that Welge caused my daughter's vehicle to seize. Prior to bringing my daughter's jeep here, two separate repair shops told me that it needed a new radiator, but I trusted Welge so I had them take a look. Welge told me that it didn't need a new radiator but it did need something else so I had Welge fix it. When I came to pick up the vehicle, Welge himself told me that in addition to fixing it, he also took the vehicle to wash the engine. What for, I don't know, it's not like the engine was particularly dirty and I hadn't asked him to! Within a month, the engine in my daughter's car seized. I brought it back to Welge. Welge himself called me to confirm that the engine had seized and it would cost about $6000 for a new engine. I was flabbergasted and told him I didn't have that kind of money. Welge suggested that I ask my church to help. WHAT kind of messed up advice is that?? His suggestion left me baffled. Needless to say, I never returned and ended up getting rid of the vehicle. Oh my heavens! Welge Automotive was such a blessing. My siblings and I were on a trip to Utah from California and had to stop to get gas when our car started to overheat. It started to shut down and we called about 10 different shops, all of which told us that they couldn't look at it because they were booked some of which were extremely rude. Our cousin finally called and told us about Welge Automotive and they were able to check out our car right away. All we needed was a coolant cap but they were the sweetest people going as far as to walk to the street to guide us to their shop. The sweetest people and the biggest blessing. We will definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone we know. 10/10 service. read more

Took my 2016 minivan here and they supposedly fixed a problem I'd been having with it stalling. However, after paying almost $500 and picking up my minivan, the problem was still there. When I returned to Welge and asked someone named Robert about it, he told me that only the dealer can fix the issue. He didn't have an answer when I asked him "why did I pay you almost $500 for it?" So I ended up taking my minivan to the dealership and they charged me $1,300.00 to actually fix the issue. The minivan has been running smoothly since. What bothers me most about this whole thing is that I brought my minivan here on my wife's recommendation. More than that, this is the fourth of our family's vehicles that we brought here and I believed my wife when she insisted that I bring the minivan here. She told me that she trusted Robert and I should do. Sadly, now we both wish we hadn't brought any of our cars here. read more

I had an engine swapped into my 95 Lexus ES300 about 8-9 months ago. After already paying $3600 for JUST THE HEAD OF AN ENGINE. Weldge Automotive believes they helped me out by charging $1000 ontop of the $3600 for the engine swap.... They said there would be no labor charge... You'd think that, after spending $3600.... Here we are months later, with problem after problem, after problem. Now I have to replace my Master Cylinder, and in order to do that, the air filter hose needs to be removed. Except there's one MAJOR problem..... the hose is DUCT TAPED to the Throttle Body!! After taking the hose off, I can see the hose is ripped, and in no way, would reach the throttle body without this duct tape filling in the gap.... PRETTY GRIMEY FOR A MECHANIC TO SWAP AN ENGINE WITH DUCT TAPED PARTS YOU ARE BY FAR THEE QORSR MECHANIC I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I CAN DO MORE AS AN UNEDUCATED MECHANIC, THEN THIS SHOP CAN DO WITH ASE CERTIFIED MECHANICS. read more

I almost don't want to leave a review about this business because I'm selfish. Finding a good honest mechanic is more difficult than finding the right doctor. Welge is OUR mechanic and have been for 2 years following years of sleezy mechanics taking advantage of my lack of automotive know how.. They are exceptional, fair and honest. The only problem is that others have also discovered this and consequently they are very busy. They always make time for us and they are very speedy but I selfishly kinda want to keep them all to our self. read more

Super Happy!! My daughter relocated there after college in San Francisco. She has a lifted 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 that is nearly new condition, that she loves. It's been a struggle to find a mechanic in that town. When she goes to a dealer, they want to sell her a new one. Mobile mechanic is more for a car due to size / weight, one shop put in OEM Mopar U joints, 4 hours later the drive shaft came off, so needed a new drive shaft while in CA. After $35 to install a $5 bulb in fog light, the shop said the new Front hub was bad, Okay had a 2 year warranty on hub and was sent another one but, wanted the shop quoted $300 just to swap out. Found Welge on Craigslist, made an appointment, took in at noon, quoted less than $100 to swap out hub,actual $50. Front end still made noise, so he yanked off rotors and machined, like new again and done by 5:30, Cars are imperfect and they arrive in different condition with different issues. Most shops these days call with a list from low brake fluid, to measuring brake pads? Welge just did the job, no BS. Diagnosed,Fairly priced and done right, it's all you can ask for. I'd give more stars if I could. Absolutely, hands down, the best mechanic in town. I found Welge a few years ago when I blew the heads in my car. I have a quad 4 engine and not a ton of mechanics have a clue about them. And they were quoting really high prices to fix the heads with no guarantee. Welge quoted the cheapest price and a year guarantee. I took my car there and it was fixed in a few days. I paid the price quoted. I've taken my car there ever since. The entire staff is wonderful and friendly. They guarantee all work and parts. Once or twice when something was still not right after a repair I've taken my car back and they fixed it with no problems. I won't go anywhere else, ever, and neither should you. read more

Having been fortunate enough to escape Southern California some 10 years ago, I landed in Reno. I came from the land of rip off artists. When my radiator went out on our Volvo wagon I had no where to turn for help. I tried several shops in town over the years and was always overcharged, and the work was often terrible. Mr. Welge was mentioned to me as being the best mechanic in town. I can tell you without a question this is one honest man, and his mechanics are fantastic. This morning I was lucky enough to have my brakes fixed on my Subaru wagon. I was expecting a long walk home. They gave me a ride home and said no problem they would come and get me when the car was done. I am 61 and was not looking forward to a long hot walk home and back. Problem solved.
