I have mixed feelings about Wellington Pub because the food is honestly some of the BEST bar food I've had anywhere in Macomb County. Their handmade pizza is absolutely amazing and nobody competes with it. I usually order the pizza and the Caesar salad, which is huge and easily shareable for 2-3 people. The kitchen alone is the reason we continue to come back. The owners clearly care about this place and have put their heart into it, so I want to make it clear that this review is not directed toward them personally. Unfortunately, the biggest downside is the crowd late at night on weekends. The bathrooms are often left disgusting by disrespectful customers, and the karaoke crowd can get pretty rough. Service also tends to be slow enough that you'll probably end up walking to the bar yourself for drinks. That being said, this has still become one of our regular meetup spots with friends before deciding where the night is going. We usually go very late and stay until close, so I'm sure it's not always the same atmosphere during earlier hours. If you can look past some of the chaos, the food alone makes this place worth trying at least once. I really wanted to give 5 stars because the food deserves it, but the overall environment keeps me from doing that. read more

They have karaoke every night but other than that there is no music, no break in the karaoke at all. Would have been great to be able to listen to music and dance or just get a break from the "singers" for a little bit. Food was just ok. There is a "game room" separate from the bar/restaurant area with darts and foosball. The bar is very dated. Needs some love and creativity as it's a rather large area. Not being used to its potential. The owner is very very elderly and not really interested. One friend went to the bar for a drink because the ONE waitress they had was extremely busy and he snapped at her and said "why don't you get it from your waitress" I guess he's the owners son and has no idea what customer service is. The food was beyond sub par. Majority of servers disappear for extended amounts of time with no word of when they'll return. Let alone the wait times for drinks from the bar. Most employees are the family that owns the bar and continuously drink on the job (witnessed first hand). Overcharge on tabs, as well as open disrespect other waitstaff blatantly (overheard on multiple occasions). If the ability to give 0 stars, that would even still be too high. read more

I used to love this place. I just moved back from Florida two months ago. Before that I came up here around two times a year and always brought a 20+ group here. A few years ago it was great. The last time in December we walked in and to smelled. Food wasn't good everybody had a complaint. Right before I moved back I had a friend that was a big regular there tell me she was banned because she was at the bat with friends and wanted to go to a different bar and the owner heard her and told her she was banned because she wanted to go somewhere else. Fast forward to when I came back. I still came back here probably 3 to 4 nights a week. Drinks were fine service was ok but always a new server because they can't keep staff. Karaoke system isn't great and hosts don't pay that much attention to volume whether it was low microphone or music to low. They are normal outside smoking or drinking it's terrible. I finally order a pizza (tasted like a gas station pizza), ordered a lg with half pepperoni and half bacon. Get my bill and they charge me for two toppings ($2.50 each which is also kinda of ridiculous). Told the waitress I think you over charged me and she said she would take it off. I then get some cocky bartender which I think is related to the owner come up behind and say it's two toppings which I said one it's half and half. He said tough luck you have to pay for it. I have heard the stories of this place padding bills and over charging but this was the first time I dealt with it. He didn't care I was there as a regular he had a terrible attitude. I told him I hope that $2.50 was worth the loss of a customer and everybody I bring and he had cocky smile and said get out. This place has gone so far downhill. There are way better karaoke places, bars with cheaper drinks and way better food. Don't give this bar your money. read more

Seriously! Totally surprised this destination for undesirables is still in business considering they only care about money and not their customers. All family employees and they tolerate you as long as you never have an issue with your food, drink or tab. if you do they will become irate and insulting. They are notorious for this as well as padding tabs so pay cash and even better do yourself a huge favor and avoid this loser convention of a pub all together. read more

Came here for a night of drinks and karaoke with a friend. Plenty of seating, very friendly service, good drinks, great prices, and good vibes. There was a whole mixture of different people- people of all ages, all wardrobes, and all ethnicities. It was great for people watching. Everyone seemed to get along and mingle with each other. The karaoke DJ was fun and interactive. We didn't try any of the food so can't comment on that, but someone next to me ordered seasoned fries and they smelled amazing. Overall would recommend this place for a night out and will definitely be returning. read more

Big. To call the food nondescript would be a complement. They put the D in Dive. I can't believe this place is on Hall Road/M 59. There was a group very much into the corn hole tourny on tv. For such a big place the actual bar is small. I do see a few pool tables in the next room. I guess low end bar is the best descriptor. I imagine the Golden Coral crowd would like it. read more

Met up here with some friends on Saturday night and our server Laura was amazing! We had 9 of us in our party and she was all over it. She never allowing an empty drink, kept our table clear of empty glasses and dishes. Just 100% on top of everything. Very impressed with her awesome attitude and skills. Will definitely be back! I've been going here since I moved here from Denver 20 plus years ago I can tell you this place is tan by one of the most amazing and wonderful family that I know here my co workers and I come here after work to hangout with the dad and son at the bar and what makes it great is that when we sit down they know who we are and what we want to drink they make you feel like one of the family it's refreshing and the bonus is that the kitchen stays open till 2 so yeah wonderful environment to hangout and sing if you what. read more

So....I have been here several times over the past, I would say... 15 years! This bar kind of sucks. I've come back several times because I want to like it. When I was around 21 years old, I lived in the apartments next door to this place. And it sucked back then too. The only thing that I can say is that karaoke here is great! That is what keeps this place afloat. There isn't much else though. We have come here during the week, and tried to get food. And the bartender acted like we will come up from a nap. He had to start the grill, even though it was well past opening. The food was just meh. Nothing impressive at all. However when we came for karaoke, this place was hopping. We've been here a few times for karaoke, and it's usually a little bit on the annoying side, however there is something fun about getting drunk and singing your heart out. Either way we had fun dressing up in costumes and just having a good old time. I don't know that I'll be back. it's not someplace I would recommend unless you like karaoke. If you like karaoke give it a shot. If you don't don't even bother coming. read more

When I first went up there with my cousin Jill, I had a kick ass time singing karaoke, we were the stars of the night, and a table that was having a party bought me my drink. about a month later. I walk into Wellington Pub. The door was propped open and there was no one in the bar, and no one behind the counter. I hollard "Hello!" Are you open? "The lady with an attitude looks at me and goes "Did you see the open sign?" I replied "Sorry, but there is no one here." I didn't know if the bar was opened or not. She acted like I convined her from her TV time and didn't care about serving me a drink or food, so I had to wait until a server came in to serve me before I watched a couple walk in and right back out. Later on that night, the same bartender that was bartending told me to order a drink, or get up and leave, note: I did order food and drinks that night. So I told her, I am sorry! I have been going here for about a year now and this is my favorite place to go. I am 22 years old and I love playing pool, darts, and singing karaoke. The staff there is all amazing and treat me like family. The cheese bread and Caesar salad are so good as well as their other food like the burger and patty melt. This was once referred to as the smelly welly because of the disgusting smoke smelling your clothes would have when you left. That is not the case anymore from the smoking, but the poor quality food and the padding of the tab has been a long standing issue with this ownership. They love when you run a tab and spend a few hours here ordering drinks. They don't miss the opportunity to add to your tab and then if called them on it either say it was a mistake or threaten you with banishment for questioning the tab. The amount of times that this happened it was obvious that it was their intent. I have run tabs for years at many establishments and never had the issues I have had with these people. Watch your tab. That's all I have to say. They are notorious for it, like no other place you will ever go. read more

This is the worst place I've been to. The waitress was very inattentive, always wanted to hold my credit card . Took forever to get our drinks. Had to ask her a few times for a menu, which lacked a better choice of food. $2.90 extra for seasoned fries. This is by definition: a dive karaoke bar without the cheap dive-bar prices. The bar has definitely seen better days and you feel a little bit gross just being inside. But remember YOU'RE HERE FOR THE KARAOKE! Once you accept that, you're in for a great time. Its a good crowd for Karaoke. The wait staff was good, our waitress was very attentive. Wonderful corner bar that has reasonable drink prices & casual atmosphere. This is a karaoke bar 24/7 with a separate room for pool & darts. The crowd is all ages & very laid back. Our waitress Dakota was the best!!! She was so busy yet made sure our table was always clean & our needs met! I usually sit in the bar area but from now on I'm going to sit in Dakotas section! I can't say that I'm a fan of this place but our waitress was really nice. The whole place has an odd vibe to it but I can see locals loving it for what it is. It's the Sneakers of the east side as it was referred to by my Shelby buddy. The karaoke was a little rough to handle but people were still really enjoying themselves...they can sing better than me anyways. The layout is kind of fragmented with the main bar in your face when you walk in, a game room off in one corner and a banquet type area running galley style along the back wall kind of hidden from the main "dining" area. It wasn't my kind of dive but I can see why people would dig this place. It has a dance floor and a few pool tables, one of those punching bag machines and an electronic dart board or two. A friend wanted everyone to meet them here for a birthday gathering (apparently it's a regular hangout for them), and so sure, it's a bar, it looks a little dive-ish...I'm in. I should've stayed "out". Look...I love dive bars. Truly do. But this isn't a dive bar. This is... Well, it's kinda... Okay, look. You know the rule that you never EVER bring a blacklight into a hotel room because sweet jesus you just never know what you're going to find that will freak you the hell out? That's this entire bar. And then I'd take it one step further and guess that if you took a swab sample off of any surface in the place, it's quite possible that new and different strains of things are evolving in this place that may very well spell the end of mankind as we know it if they ever escape. At least we can all rest easy in the knowledge that they probably couldn't survive outside of that environment, so I'm pretty sure we're safe. The food...what I saw ordered, because there was simply no way in hell I was eating at this place...was atrocious from every aspect I chose to partake in: it looked nasty, it smelled nasty, but, again, no way I was tasting anything because...ebola. Then you add in the fact that drinks are way, WAY too expensive for this kind of environment, and you have yet another reason to stay away. The bathrooms? Oh god, the bathrooms. Clearly there used to be mirrors in the men's room at some point...but those are long since gone, which might have something to do with the indents/marks on the wall that are likely the remnants of them being broken. From what I heard from the ladies, the women's room is no better, with no doors and a toilet just hanging out between the door and the sink...my guess is that's "the hurl bucket" toilet for when the dainty lasses that frequent this place are ready to purge. Good times. They do have karaoke seven nights a week though...and we all know addicts will go to some dark, dirty places in order to get their fix...and the host did a decent enough job with the few (I'm guessing) regulars that...and I'm not kidding here...stood outside smoking and planning "their set" with each other. Really? people do that? Another "where in the hell AM I?!" moment... So look...it is what it is...don't say you weren't warned. If you want a good reason to come here, I'd suggest bringing the most OCD neat-freak germophobe you know here just to watch them dissolve into a puddle of goo after their aneurysm. read more

It's not even worth going into one of my normal reviews, other than this place will be avoided in the future. Clue to the management if they read these things: when someone says a two dollar glass of pop tastes bad, don't argue. I'm not sure where to begin- first(this will be a long one, but important to read how they stole from me), one star is WAY too generous. My friends, Fiancee, and I went out Saturday night to do some karaoke. I don't frequent Sterling Heights, but we were meeting up with a group. We got there, it was about as dirty as a bar in Pontiac, after sitting for a few minutes, my gf and I went to the bathroom- um, ew- as another reviewer said, I'm sure one could easily catch a venereal disease. When we were back at the table I ordered a margarita, that tasted like JUST the mix; after that, I ordered a shot- not realizing it'd be $6. After the shot, I later decided to give a mixed drink another shot (maybe they just got it bad with the margarita) and I ordered a dry martini-- I was given straight gin, when my gf who ordered the same thing asked the bartender about it, they told her that's what she ordered, but dumped it out (per her request) then gave her a cup of vodka- not much better. Finally, I just stuck with beer, mine tasted fine, although another guy at our table said his tasted like "warm butter" and we determined the glass was dirty. At the end of the night, my Fiancee and I went to close the tab. The bartender handed us a stack of credit cards and told us to "find ours"- we did, she tallied up the bill- $63!! I was shocked, but paid it, and added a $2 (I'm normally a 20% tipper) and chalked it up to a bad bar experience. This is where it gets good- this morning I checked my account, as I had over drafted (the account I use for my spending budget only) and I had been charged $10 by Wellington's NOT the $65 I authorized them for! I found my receipt and printed at the bottom is a "tip helper" they took exactly 15%. I was furious, I called my bank who told me to call the Pub to ask them to issue the refund, called 4 times and could not reach the manager. Finally my bank refunded me my full $10- I'll pay for the AWFUL drinks, but they won't be getting a tip from me! read more

Smoke, a fully stocked bar, karaoke? Check, Check and Check. The Wellington Pub is a typical dive karaoke bar. It's very dark, attempting to go for an Irish Pub feel with the dark woods. Bathrooms definitely need an update and the stall doors don't always lock. Beer is usually $3.75 or a tall domestic, shots are between 5 and 9 bucks. It seems like everyone in this bar is a smoker. The karaoke is really fun though. Lots of decent singers, and regulars in this bar. We're always in the Wellington because friends of ours in Shelby Township always go here. It's in the same plaza as Roosevelts. If I had my choice, I'd go with Roosevelt's but we go here exclusively for karaoke. Pizza is pretty good, but there is nothing terribly special about the menu or what comes out of the kitchen. It's your typical bar food. The crowd and karaoke all the time scratch the itch, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Mixed experience here. The occasion was my friend's birthday. She wanted a central location to do some Karaoke. I will list the pros and cons, but first wanted to address the issue of smoking. Of course now all public indoors are smoke free in Michigan as of April 2010. Pros: Decent Karaoke singers. Food and Beer prices were fair, and they had Amber Bock on tap :) I was starved and was not expecting much, but the cheeseburger and fries I ordered were pretty good. Did not make me ill and was tasty. We had fun. Cons: Fruit flies in the bathroom?! In the middle of the 20 degree weather of December?! yep. That was the first trip to the bathroom. Second trip there was a huge black house fly buzzing around. In the bathroom. In December. I am no health inspector, or biologist or anything but there must be some nasty stuff somewhere in that building that these things are feeding on and breeding in. YUCK. The bathroom itself needs some cleaning with some bleach and just needs to be gutted altogether. About as quaint and comfortable as a well-used gas station bathroom. Tables and chairs were pieced together, did not match. Server was only half interested in serving us and many times did I have to go to seek HER out for a drink or to order my food. The crowd was mixed, but I felt this was a place where trouble may brew from time to time. Some old-timers at the bar, but the tables were packed with 20-somethings for karaoke. Most were okay, but some seemed to be glancing around the room looking for trouble. Is this going to be my new hang-out? nope. Will I go back if I am in the area and want to do some karaoke. Maybe. Chances are I will never step foot in here again unless someone else pressures me into it! read more

To top it all off, my friend tipped them what they deserved (because they sucked so bad and were rude) & checked her account today...they gave themselves a $10 extra tip!! What can I say it's a karaoke bar, you can't really expect much lol. First time here, it was a co workers outing. We had a group of 20 and sat up close near the dance floor. Over all I like where the place is at, corner plaza plenty of parking and it's safe nothing sketchy lol. The windows that circle the whole place is a nice feature, so you can always tell if your friends are outside smoking, you never feel trapped in and nobody gets lost 2 thumbs up. The place is really universal from ages 21-50 years old, super casual if you just want to talk and catch up and enjoy bad karaoke. The DJ didn't have much of a personality on the mic he was very mellow which I can deal with, this isn't a club and the song selections where great! We did get to dance tho which was nice. Our server was attentive as she was always checking on us. Overall the crowed is just super mellow so if you're not singing along or dancing I can see someone getting bored fast and resorting to endless drinks. Are they pricey? I had a Long Island and Stella bottle which cost me $13.50 so pretty average in my eyes. For karaoke bars I always suggest buying pitchers of beer instead because your going to be doing a lot of people watching if you're not planning to sing or dance. Bathrooms where clean, no complaints no holes in the wall lol Rule of thumb bring the best of your friends and you'll have a blast it's not the place it's the people you're hanging out with it's a karaoke bar people you can't really have high expectations for bars like this because they're not suppose to be fancy. We didn't have high hopes for this place as we walked up but were pleasantly surprised. The food was good, not great. The restaurant is dark and smoky (in Florida we are spoiled, all restaurants are smoke free). The menu is your typical bar stuff. We tried the onion rings and deluxe nachos for apps. The nachos were heaping and covered with cheese, meat and sour cream- tasty. I opted for a burger which came out without the cheese I requested but was quickly fixed. The burger was good, just the right amount of salt and grease any good burger should have. The beer selection isn't great, which surprised us for a pub. And even more surprising was when we got the bill and saw that the beers we were drinking were $7 each (I was drinking Stellas)! Yeah, they were fairly big but it was still a lot to charge.
