Well, first of all, this is a very cool spot and I kind of got caught in between brunch and lunch so I didn't eat as much as I normally would. But the one word that describes this place is service and Ruby. Every single person had a huge smile on their face and couldn't wait to help. You just don't find that very often, but I found it in the last 24 hours in the gas lamp it quite a few places. The menu here has something for everyone Plus great Beers and a really nice mimosa. I'll be back as soon as I can because I got a ticket for a free mimosa. Thank you, Ruby and Amber. I think also helped love them all.
Had such a great experience at Werewolf! The food was so good! We had the breakfast burrito, chicken inna biscuit, steak scramble, and the cinnamon roll cakes, and everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious. The drinks were just as amazing. I had the Blossom Something and the Juicy K, and both were great recommendations from the hostess Jazzy who was also wonderful and made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Our waitress Fiona was amazing and provided excellent customer service throughout our visit. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great food, great drinks, and great service all around. We'll definitely be back!
This place is awesome for brunch. Vibe is lit. Drinks are good. Food is good. And it doesn't break the bank. They have a dj during brunch and the music was good. Food was good. Those breakfast balls were EVERYTHING! The bourbon burger was good too! Taylor is a ROCKSTAR and definitely needs a raise and a promotion! He was the dj, the bartender, the waiter, the runner.... I mean he did it all.. and with a smile. This place is definitely the bomb brunch spot and I will definitely be back. The only reason I took a star is because they were understaffed so the food sat for a bit. Other than that, this place is it!,
I absolutely love this place. The customer service is amazing. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes and it was so big and so fulfilling and tasted so great. The mimosas are also very tasteful. If you're interested in a Mexican style breakfast and American breakfast, this would be the place to go to. The blueberry lemon pancakes are refreshing and the Oreo pancakes are a little too much to chocolate my friends enjoyed the California burrito, but said it needed a little bit more flavor. And my other friend enjoyed the steak and egg breakfast. Oh yeah, on the weekends they have a live Deejay, which is great. This is a nice restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating
We stopped in for breakfast before we head to the airport. The staff was so sweet and amazing. The restaurant was half fall when we first got there but completely full including bar seats by the time we left. There were so many choices and we both ended up with BISCUITS AND GRAVY * Scratch made sausage country gravy - two biscuits - cheesy chive scrambled eggs - breakfast potatoes. Huge. Delicious. Wonderful experience overall.
If you're looking to go to brunch but don't want to succumb to a overly fried or sugary brunch option, the steak scramble at Werewolf is a solid choice! Tortilla is folded up on the side in case you want to skip the extra carbs. Sauce on the scramble is really tasty. Potatoes are perfect. Little bits of corn are a nice surprise! I also tried La Mariposa and it is perfectly floral and light. 100/10. Jasmine was a super friendly waitress and so attentive. Ambiance is a lively and fun--the perfect spot to start an afternoon pregame or have brunch in the morning.
Chose this spot for breakfast because I assumed it was a cool, interesting restaurant due to it's name. I was completely surprised to realize that it was more a sports bar than anything. There's a decent amount of seating and the walls are plastered with random prints and posters. There's at least six TVs. The spacing of the seating is kind of weird and the bar takes up about half the restaurant. It was half full when I got there with two bartenders and one server. I sat at the bar assuming I would get quicker service, which was not true. I ordered a coffee and a blue plate, which was basically cheesy chive scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit. The original plate comes with bacon but I subbed it for avocado. The food came out warm (not hot), but I was hungry so I didn't say anything. The eggs, although delicious, were not made with chives, but rather with green onion. The biscuit was dry and came with a pat of butter and some packaged jam. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and well seasoned, however, most of them were burnt or just the scraps at the bottom of the fry basket. Disappointing. The one good thing about this place (other than the friendly staff), is that it might be the cheapest breakfast you can get in Gaslamp. I would say this place is more of a hangover restaurant/bar for people to come to after a Padres game.
I do not see the wins here. A. Service is horrible. Our server had no clue on certain items on the menu. She forgot an item extra fee for house salsa (tiny cup) no less which she got later. She gave us a cranberry spritizer when a person asked for cranberry juice. I had the short stack with eggs, and chives. Ditched the cheesy part. For San Diego and California they didn't offer egg whites. That makes no sense. Almond milk? Nope Oat. She offered to heat it. Nice that would be cool. Showed up coled. The short stack,, well the pancakes were solid as in a frisbee and downright awful. Inedible would have made more sense Pricing could have been better. The place is tiny And the vibe wasn't cool or hip. Just blah, like the food itself
Great cocktail selection and nice bartenders! Jasmine and Taylor were outstanding--friendly, attentive, and on top of every request. The drink quality was excellent across the board. If you're walking by, definitely stop in and grab a cocktail--you won't be disappointed. Good music, cool vibes, and great drinks.
Came here for brunch after a morning at the swap meet! It was a hot day and I really appreciated how cool it was in here despite the front all being open. Much needed cool down for me. This place was packed and the reviews were really good so I came in with high expectations. All staff I interacted with was super nice and friendly! We got biscuits and gravy (no egg), country fried steak, and breakfast balls. The breakfast balls were amazing, little fried balls of mashed potato seasoned so well with bacon and gravy. It was sooooo good. I may end up just getting that for breakfast next time. The biscuits and gravy were just like my mom makes. Good country gravy with a nice soft but crispy biscuit. The potatos were not that good imo, they needed a longer cook but they tasted decent. The country fried steak was cooked and seasoned amazingly, and were the eggs. I will be back!!
Visiting for work, and I was looking for something different and interesting to try. It had been years since I have been down to the gas lamp area so part of the allure besides the name was the location. It is the quintessential college town, bar area, downtown (city) collection of people. Some homeless people (not too many) really add to the grunge essence, with the streets providing the fairly grimey feel. Werewolf had quite the vibe for 4pm on a Monday, good music, young adults chatting about some food, the music, and everyday life. One young man was journaling, memorializing his thoughts. BOOM, there's Fiona, a friendly face, interactive, formal intro (she did this with each patron), and it gives you a welcoming feeling. She is attentive, and patient as you navigate the menu. Menu had strong suggestions, happy hour had 50% off appetizers, and prices were very fair. I ordered the Beets/ Brussels/ and Blue salad. It stated it had golden beets which you don't see on many menus and unfortunately is the reason I am giving a 4 for this location, there was not one golden beet in my salad, in fact, there wasn't even one beet. Blue cheese crumble was minimum, and the Brussels were pan fried, to the edge. I also ordered the Hot Chicken Sandwich. This was good, the chicken thankfully slathered in Franks red hot was trying to hide the "blackened" fried chicken. Just on the edge but it was still enjoyable. The star of the food... was the fries. Crisp, hot, lightly salted, and retained the heat and crispiness through me eating the whole sandwich. I am eating healthier today and wasn't planning on any fries, but I did enjoy a few. I would bet anything fry orientated here had to be a winner. Garlic fries, etc. I did buy a t-shirt for my wife, selection was minimal compared to the online store, but seriously, point of sale is where it's at for your merchandise. Set up a swag area, and stock it.
This place is so cool! I love the atmosphere here, it gives 80s rock and roll vibes. The food is delicious, I've been here for a date and I've been here with my kids- it works well for either situation. Our server Ruby was the best - so friendly and fun. Made it a great experience. For the date- loved brunch and having some delicious Bloody Marys.

Werewolf was an eclectic, casual find in Gaslamp district downtown San Diego. Not overly busy on a Thursday morning but so glad I stopped in! Service was lovely and brunch was fast and fresh. The pork belly Benedict with scrambled eggs (my modification) was so tasty with a hot honey sauce on top and potato patty as the "English muffin". It looks like a smaller portion but honestly after your 2nd piece you start to feel full and satisfied! The ultimate savoury dish, I give this pub a 10/10! read more

Was visiting downtown San Diego for the weekend and stopped by here . I got the California burrito and the pork belly sliders, they were so good. The sauces in both of these foods were amazing . Pork belly was tender and crispy , and the steak in the burrito was just right . The lady in the kitchen was also extremely nice . She was killing it in there. The vibes were also good , it was overall a 10/10 experience . When I'm back in San Diego this is the first spot I'm going to. read more

I've been here a handful of times and I love the vibe. They really try to make you feel like they appreciate you as they get your name and introduce themselves as well. I always see them greet patrons that are clearly regulars with such joy that it's just fun to be there. I enjoy the pop music and feel like I can sing along to everything. We were able to get there during happy hour so we got some of the apps. Poppas balls, chicken wings, and Brussels sprouts. They are all deep fried with the wings being the best imo. My bf wasn't totally fond of the aftertaste on the poppa balls but I think it was fine. The sprouts are quite crispy and good as well though I'm finding that I generally prefer my sprouts to be baked or air fried. Great place to start off a night downtown! read more

When you think dive breakfast it is not Werewolf. This is definitely a class way above. We started with drinks. Don't judge use, it's a holiday weekend. I had the tiramisu martini. So good with a heavy cream float. My friend had the Irish coffee which she enjoyed. Her husband had the Carajillo. He really liked it We ordered the hush puppy balls ( I don't remember the exact name). The texture was a little soft for me. We got the gravy on the side because my friend does not like gravy. I ordered the pork belly Benedict. The eggs tasted a little like water. I think that they could benefit from hitting a paper towel before coming onto the plate. The pork belly was delicious though. The dish overall definitely could use with some salt. My friend got the triple threat burger. The serving side is huge. She really enjoyed it and again the pork belly hit the spot. Her husband got the steak scrambled. Again, the portion was huge. In the future, I think we could probably order two items and just share between the three of us. Now the best part of our brunch.... The staff. The customer service was really fantastic. Personable, attentive, and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. It is downtown so parking is hard. I was lucky to find a spot right outside. Don't be afraid when you get there it definitely looks like a dive bar. But there's a reason that it has almost 1500 reviews. It's iconic. It's fun. Great entree prices! Cute dive bar interior and friendly service! Our server told us slay and asked for our names so we love that. Bit of a longer wait time for our food which I notice is a pattern for other reviews here Breakfast balls were crispy fried potato balls w/ bits of bacon. This rolled in the gravy is so good. We shared this bite and had zero complaints Cinnamon pancakes were so delicious. These are more soft and fluffy with no crisp edge. They are super sweet, it'd be hard to finish this by itself but perfect if paired with something savory to balance it out Country fried steak was yummy! I don't have too much to say about it but my friend said that she'd return and she was able to finish most of it Pork Belly Benedict had a sweet maple bbq sauce on it. Werewolf American Pub is a HOWL in the heart of Downtown San Diego! From the minute we rolled up, the energy was popping! Some tips before you go: 1. Hop on the Yelp waitlist ahead of time! 2. You can park at Horton Plaza Parking garage for up to 3 hours for $12.00 with ticket validation from the restaurant A huge kudos to the general manager for hiring wonderful staff! Sooooooo......Huge shoutout to the lovely hostess working this morning (she knows her stuff and was extremely informative and friendly and im sorry but I didn't catch her name.) And....Taylor was super attentive and kind, offered to take our drink order, he checked on my friend and I while we were waiting (get yourself on the YELP Waitlist early....trust me it's a game changer) even sparked up a conversation and quickly brought us back to our table. Once seated, Brian took amazing care of us from start to finish. Good service and just a good vibe all around. We also chatted with Fiona and she was a total Vibe too. Everyone here has an admirable personality that's adds to the experience. Food was delish, drinks were pretty tasty, The DJ was throwing it back with some Classics and we found ourselves reminiscing about the good ol' days while grubbing. Such a lively, fun, no pressure atmosphere. The kind of place you could easily spend a couple hours and not even notice the time by fly. I'll start with the good things: service was good, friendly, and attentive. Menu pricing was very reasonable for the downtown area. The elote dip was pretty good. My entree was the BBB salad (beets, brussel, bleu cheese) was so disappointing. I was looking forward to a delicious salad. I love Brussel sprouts, but not this. The brussel sprouts were BURNT. Not charred, BURNT. I Inedible but I tried to eat it, I didn't want to waste food but I only could eat a third of my plate. So heavy on the dressing underneath the brussel sprouts, the light spring mix never stood a chance. read more
Great spot in downtown San Diego! Hubby and I popped into Werewolf for brunch after dropping friends at the airport only a 5-minute drive, parking right out front. It's an open-air bar with a fun view of the sidewalk, clean, and family friendly. He had a Bloody Mary and a breakfast burrito (a must!), and I went with the pork belly Benedict, even though I'm not typically a pork belly fan. (everyone was recommending it based on the yelp reviews ) It was really flavorful and looked amazing. The best part? The CUSTOMER SERVICE The bartenders and servers were so friendly and on it. I loved this place!!! Everything about this place was amazing. I especially loved the atmosphere, from the decor to the DJ, it was great. The DJ had an amazing play list going. I ordered the pork belly benedict, doesn't that just sound amazing?!?! Well it was, pork belly was nicely cooked, good sauce, over potatoes, just YUM!!! We came for brunch and didn't have to wait long since it was a weekday, but it quickly filled up! But in any case, it would be worth the wait. I can't wait to eat here again!!! We came here on a holiday for brunch around 11am and the restaurant was almost about full! Luckily there was so bar seating so we were able to get seated immediately. We then ordered food at the bar, which went pretty smoothly. We ordered a Country Fried Steak and the Steak Scramble. It's fun they also have a live DJ here too. Although, the wait for our food took wayyyy longer than it should have. We waited about 30 minutes for our food to get to our table, and it just soured our appetite for it. We got the country fried steak first, which was my bf's dish, and he said it tasted like it was "sitting out for awhile"... This was really disappointing as we had waited for a long while for our food. Then came the steak scramble, which felt like it was freshly made compared to the first dish. Taste test, I mainly had the steak scramble, which I thought it was pretty good. I feel that this type of dish would taste even better with alcohol, but I just wanted food lol. My bf's comments about the country fried steak was that it was just "okay", maybe because it wasn't as freshly made. Overall, we wanted to like this place, but the wait just made it not as worth it. I would say, it's a good place if you want to come here for both drinks AND brunch. You'll probably get through several rounds of drinks by the time the food comes. Stopped by during New Year's eve to check this place out and to get a drink. Karaoke seems to be a big deal here at 9 PM and they had a lot of food options that you could get late in the night which was cool! They also are open for breakfast and lunch where it seems like lots of people really enjoy their food. The bouncer outside was really nice and told us about the karaoke right away. It was a cool place but wasn't very lively around 7-8:30 PM (definitely earlier in the night). So it was super easy to get a spot! My Mai Tai was good and I loved the cute glass it was in. The bathrooms are also super cool with comic book pages all on the walls. It was also really clean! They also had popcorn in a popcorn maker which was cool! read more

Came into Werewolf for a Sunday brunch date! Devoured the pork belly benedict and hushpuppies which were so good. Loved that they had a cake of the moment which was peppermint with a scoop of ice cream on top. Portion sizes had us stuffed and we still left with plenty of leftovers. DJ spinning at 10 AM, because nothing says brunch like beats before noon. Great service by Angie! read more

The service was good, though the server got one of our drink orders wrong but we didn't want to make a fuss about it. The atmosphere wasn't the greatest. Oh we also ordered breakfast shot - if you certainly want to start your morning, I would suggest this shot. Dangerdorf herbal liqueur- butterscotch snaps, OJ, bacon garnish. Immediately, the vibes are high! Theres a live dj right when you walk in. Service was great, they are very upbeat and energetic! The portions are huge, definitely recommend sharing. The breakfast balls were crispy and packed w flavor. I ordered the pork belly benedict. Thick slices of meat with a strong glaze flavor on top of a fried potato hash. Taking the day out in the Gaslemp to have some great food with the high heat being at home going to a great place with grwat people . The Werewolf is the one place when you come to the restaurant you see the shout house the walk to the the restaurant you get to the restaurant the painting of the werewolf and human touching fingers.giving the welcome to the Werewolf Restaurant close off 4th ave. Great food of the Werewolf that can fill you up with the best in pork belly or you xan have sliced bacon with breakfast. Amazing! Service was above and beyond, food was delicious and the cocktails were great! We used to come here a lot before covid, but don't live as close. We did a little staycation this weekend and decided to stop by for brunch. They had multiple games on the tv, and were able to put the packers on for us. Music was popp'n too! (Kudos to the DJ) Everything was still top notch and we're sad we're not closer! We split the country fried steak and triple threat burger with garlic fries. Breakfast with lunch :). One of the best boozey brunches I've had in SD, and definitely the best one in downtown!! I love the vibes, it's vibrant and loud work great music, but still able to have a fun convo. The food is great, I loved the breakfast burrito! The best part is certainly the mimosas, you can order bottles of champagne with fruit juices for as cheap as $15 a bottle (their version of "bottomless"). Awesome wait staff as well, and very attentive despite the busy place! 10/10 will be returning :) read more

The husband and I felt like a night out but also wanted food. We found this place in Instagram and decided to give it a try. Our bartender Jasmine was great! She made our drinks exactly how we wanted them, got our appetizers out in a timely manner and she even made recommendations on brunch menu items for the next time we want to stop by. Okay, yep, the hype is real. My man and I came here for brunch after being impressed by the reviews and it certainly did not disappoint. We ordered the hush puppies, steak scramble and pork belly benedict. To die for. Unbelievable. Chef's freakin' kiss. So glad we decided to come here for Brunch on our last day in town! We knew we picked the right place as soon as we saw/heard the DJ! The host greeted us with a smile then came Mike who took our drink order while we waited outside. He also ended up being our server once we got seated. This guy can run for Mayor and WIN! What a personality! He was funny and made us feel so welcome. He took care of our group and was so attentive! The food was great, the drinks were deliciously put together and the overall service from all the staff made our visit so worthwhile. You can tell the staff enjoys each other and what they do - it reflected in their interactions with each other and with the customers. Thank you Werewolf! Will come again! Where is the easiest place to park?
Try to park as close as possible to the restaurant. Best parking will be with the closest paid parking lots and meter parking close to the restaurant.
Is this place kid friendly?
Yes, you can take a kid there, I would recommend breakfast or lunch though.
Do you broadcast the boxing fights on Saturdays?
Is there still karaoke? If so, which nights?

I believe so! I have been here multiple times and seen dogs inside and if I am wrong, there is an outside eating space where pets are welcome.

Absolutely. It's 90-120 mins right now on a Sunday around 11:30am. Yikes!
Can you make a reservation for brunch?
They have a waitlist and take reservations over 10 ppl. Call and ask them. They were very helpful for our party of 8.
Can't find the happy hour menu?
I've only done brunch here but your best bet is to call and ask.
Did they get rid of the lottery tickets?
I didn't see or read anything on lottery tickets there.
Is it celiac friendly?
I'm not saying this place is not celiac friendly, but I am saying, "damn! Your eating our choices/experience is greatly limited!!!" That's crazy man. Good luck. I have no idea if this place is your peoples friendly.
Are there gluten free buns?
I'm sorry I don't know. I do plan on going there again though 🙂
Is this establishment dog friendly?
Last time we visited, we sat at the bar (inside the restaurant) and there was a dog with the party seated next to us. So i assume yes!
