I've happily made it a destination restaurant because I always felt the food was worth the trip. That's why this visit was so disappointing. The creamy chicken was nothing like I remembered. Instead of the rich, thick, yellow gravy I've always loved, it was thin and almost like a clear broth. The waffle arrived folded over on the plate, so even the presentation wasn't very appealing. My mashed potatoes were fine, but my second side was a single-serving lunch cup of applesauce, which honestly felt more like something packed in a school lunch than something served in a restaurant. Unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn't much better. The first booth I sat in was dirty, so I moved to another one. I genuinely felt sorry for my waitress because she was obviously overwhelmed. She was pleasant, apologized several times, and was clearly doing the best she could under the circumstances. She kept mentioning that her relief person never showed up and was running around trying to keep up with everything. The cook even came out and announced, "That's the last order I'm taking," which made the whole dining room feel tense and uncomfortable. Whether he was simply overwhelmed or not feeling well, it wasn't the kind of atmosphere you'd expect when you're trying to enjoy a meal. The bright spot was the club sandwich I ordered to go. It was made exactly as requested and was very good. What concerned me most, however, was what I observed regarding sanitation. I watched a container of individual half-and-half cups accidentally spill onto the floor. Instead of discarding them, they were picked up and placed right back into the refrigerator to be served to future customers. Later, I also watched clean drinking cups dropped onto the floor and then placed back with the clean cups instead of being rewashed. Those are the kinds of things customers notice, and they undermine confidence in a restaurant's sanitation practices. Checkout was also frustrating. Even though I was the only customer waiting to pay, it took three employees about five to seven minutes to figure out an issue at the register. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a restaurant I've supported for so many years. My hope is that management takes this as constructive feedback because Angie's has been one of my favorite destination restaurants for a decade. I'd love to recommend it with the same enthusiasm I always have, but the food quality, sanitation practices, and overall dining experience need attention. Loyal customers notice these things because we genuinely want to see a restaurant we love continue to succeed.

I remembered the good times, the trophies, awards, and accolades for your delicious sauces, and the excellent reputation that you've had all of these years. It was finally time for "The Return." Last night, a completely enjoyable meal and great service at the bar. (The dining room was very busy, and there were several seats open at the bar). It was actually our first time sitting at the bar and I believe this will now be our regular spot to eat and drink here. Got 6 Hot and 6 Creamy Garlic Parm. These wings were the perfect size for me, a little on the small to medium side, and they were cooked well. Not perfectly crispy, but close enough, and the flavor of the wings themselves were tasting fresh and delicious. I always loved their traditional hot sauce and this was my first time trying the creamy garlic Parm. The creamy texture was a little too much for me, so probably just get the regular garlic Parm next time. No issues with flavor, just a little thick and messy. (Somehow, I got that sauce on my shirt and on the back of my neck.) The Blue cheese was a great dipper for the hot sauce but I should've ordered a large cup. Yet here we are and their latest inspection on 03/31/26 has -28- violations, including these: Inspection Violations: 3/31/2026 COCOA DINER 590 E MAIN ST HUMMELSTOWN, PA 17036 717-566-6002 --Food Employee did not follow proper handwashing procedure. Food employee did not wash hands for adequate amount of time of at least 20 seconds. --Observed food ingredient storage containers, bottles, shakers, rolling bins, in the entire facility, is not labeled with the common name of the food. --Food Employee observed changing tasks that may have contaminated hands without a proper handwash in-between. Observed employee touching numerous dirty items, handles, etc. and not wash hands and change gloves before touching food or food contact items. --Food Employee observed donning single use gloves without a prior hand-wash. Not all foods were removed for proper re-heating. --Observed numerous boxes of food stored directly on the floor in basement walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. --Observed an open carton of raw eggs stored on the top shelf over numerous ready-to-eat food items in the Avantco single door refrigerated unit. Corrected on site. --Observed some, not all, foods in the upright refrigerators and freezer units and area stored open with no covering. --Observed a five (5) gallon pickle bucket filled with use bread and the heels of bread. Discussed with Management and Owner and was told it was to feed the birds. Discussed that this food cannot be stored in the kitchen with foods for human consumption. Discarded on site. --Eggs held at 68.5 °F, on a shelf next to the cook line area, rather than 45°F or below as required. Corrected on site. --Numerous bags of frozen raw chicken was observed thawing in standing water in the one of the three-bay sinks, which is not an approved thawing method. Discussed to keep water running on the food for proper thawing and every time I entered that area of the kitchen, someone turned the water off. --Observed no food items (commercially processed and food prepared in the food facility) in the walk-in cooler and upright refrigeration units, and being held for more than 24 hours, is not dated marked with the date it was opened or made. --Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in kitchen area which were not in the original protective package or inverted to protect against contamination. --Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in basement dry storage area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor.
