First off I love Mike . I have a Range Rover sport , 2006 & I've been coming here for over a year! It's my favorite place to be , it's always so clean everyone is so nice and so smart! I've been to alot of mechanic shops but this one by far is the best one I've been to...there really honest and knowledgable which made me feel really secure about there work...with them being AAA approved really gives me a peice of mind plus I got a 10% discount being a AAA member...mike the manager was really helpful and worked with me on the price plus they had a awsome waiting area with a flat screen water and cookies. read more

Call Mike. If you're local, you're lucky. I got lucky when AAA gave me his number after I lurched off the 405 at Roscoe. AAA and their guy Artine (awesome) got me to West Automitve. I was at Mike's / West at 2:30 PM. Mike put his guy right on troubleshooting (thankfully only clutch cylinders), got me a reasonable quote (and with folks constantly coming in also needing mechanical help), then parts ordered for pickup first thing. I overnighted in Sylmar and I was back on the road by 11:00 AM. Mike understood the nasty feeling of getting stranded in a strange area, the need of getting back on the road, the importance of a parts warranty that travels. He and his guys got it done, and got me home. His two mechanics were polite, friendly and responsive. I felt like family. The second person I met at the shop is a friend of Mike's dad and Mike who happened to be there. Which told me all I needed to know: 1 - Mike was proud enough of his dad's business and profession growing up to do the same. 2 - Mike had earned the opportunity to take over. 3 - "Shop friends" won't hang thru generations in shops filled with nasty energy from disatisified customers. My car needed service and I found this station by looking at Triple A, brought in by tow. My car was not starting dead battery and Mike did an inspection and found out what was wrong with my car. It is a 16 year old car Honda Accord that is driving like new. than. Mike is going to get my recommendation to others I know. All the workers I spoke with were very pleasant to talk on the phone. Exceptional service & family-oriented. I've been having battery issues for weeks, car would die every time I'd get in and would have to jump it. THANK GOODNESS FOR THIS PLACE. I am a single woman used to having to deal with so much bullshit when I go to any auto repair shop anywhere. But not here, thankfully! I had a last minute battery issue right before my shift at work and had no choice but to take a chance on this place that I found through the AAA website, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Not only were they able to help me right away, but they didn't try to upsell me on anything or mansplain basic automotive information to me... none of that. If anything, the shop was super friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, everyone was joking around, but still getting the work done. I was out in time to make it to work, and for a lot less than I was expecting! And the owner, Mike, was incredibly knowledgeable and down-to-earth. The work is good, the people trustworthy, and it's the kind of business you want to support. Feels like a local staple, you know? I don't know how I lucked out finding this place after just moving to the area, but they are definitely going to be my go-to shop while I'm here! read more

I have been going to West Automotive Center for a number of years. Just recently my car didn't pass the smog test so I took it to Mike at West Automotive. He ran a test and the Oxygen sensors needed to be replaced. The monitors didn't clear right away so Mike gave me a car to use until he could drive the car and get the monitors to clear. He then made sure it passed the smog test!! All the guys at West Automotive are so helpful. I was stressing out over getting my car to pass the test and they reassured me that they would take care of it. For an oil change or something more involved, take your car to West Automotive. read more

West Auto did the transmission on my jeep a couple of years ago and we decided to use them again for break issues and an actuator issue. Mike is friendly and accommodating and the prices are fair for the scope of work done. West Auto is honest and so much easier than dealing with the dealership. I want to be as fair as possibIe on my review. I can say based on what I checked on other shops that they can be overpriced. Also i noticed the owner wanted to sell services I don't need inmediately or that you can do it yourself. At the end of the day business is business and to be fair they need to sell to keep in business. Today somehow my kid managed to get her cape stuck in the door of my car to the point where we couldn't open it at all. I called a different place and they said they couldn't help me. I went to West Automotive and the owner was super kind and courteous. He managed to open the door within 90 seconds and wouldn't accept any money from me. Dishonest! My car was toyed here unfortunately referred by AAA. The coolant water reservoir tank was broken in pieces so the water was leaking out. Also there was a tiny seal that may have been damaged but not sure. I purchased both of them and brought it to him to replace. I knew it was going to cost me more for replacing the seal but the reservoir coolant tank was cheap to replace. So after replacing the tank he called me and said water is still leaking which was BS. the fact that car was there I guess I have to have it done. My suggestion would be if you bring your car here make sure you see the damaged part before replacing. read more

STAY AWAY!!! Mike seems like a sweet guy and this is nothing personal, just don't want anybody to have the horrible experience I had. Was originally told my car would need $700 worth of work then it went to $1200 and then went all the way to $2100. I kept saying yes because they already had my car and I needed mine fixed for work. Long story short, they had my car for over a month for two sensors and a valve cover that I bought, granted he lent me a car. Got my car back worse then I left it, which wasn't stalling when I left it. He gave me my car back stalling and barely made it home. It was take my car or spend thousands more for something that wasn't happening before I left it. I Took it to a professional place they showed me under the hood how my car wasn't even put back together properly!! and was missing hardware!!! AND the error codes they said were taken care of were still there!! ALL OF THEM. I was completely ripped off by these guys. DON'T LET MIKE SWEET TALK YOU. Shady salesman. Now I have to pay a real mechanic to fix my car for half the price I was quoted. These guys are snake oil salesmen. YOU'CE BEEN WARNED. read more

Got towed here when AAA recommended them as a place near my house that had night drop off. They wound up being extremely friendly and helpful and informative, as well as being transparent, fair and upfront about the price (which was lower than I expected). I had to get a new radiator, drive belts and timing belt. They finished sooner than I thought they would, then I was shown my old replaced parts before I got my car back. I would happily recommend this place and return if I needed to. I was nervous about going somewhere random but wound up being very happy with the situation. read more

Great. Another shady place took our hard-earned money. My old hooptie needed to be smogged, so I decided to take my car to this place as it was by my work and my folks' place... my man dropped my car off only to find out that not only did my car NOT pass smog (which is surprising, because it has ALWAYS passed in all the years I've had to smog it), but that it would be an additional $75.00 to clear the EGR valve. Well that sucks, but okay.... we could give them the benefit of the doubt on that, I guess. The sticking point was the manner in which this was conveyed to my boyfriend was rude and very shady, and just slick... in that bad way. Instead of just asking for the car keys back after my car did not pass, he was led to believe he could not do so and so authorized the extra $75.00 charge. When my boyfriend inquired if he paid this $75 to clear the EGR and it didn't pass, what would happen... the answer the owner gave him was, "Oh, trust me, I know it will... I do this for a living, my friend." That raised a red flag with my boyfriend as absolute bullshit. Now he could be right, but the whole deal reeked of shadiness. It sucks because we as consumers have no way of knowing if our cars are truly passing smog or not... they can bend and fudge and smear the numbers and technique any way it suits them... as long as it lands some extra money in their pockets. If they were screwing us, I hope that extra $75 dollars was worth it. I am a loyal person and I tend to stick with a business if they do me right... this could have been a very positive business relationship, but now I will be letting everyone in the hood know of our experience. This shop has serviced the last 4 vehicles I have owned, and they live up to their great reputation every time. I have gotten many parts repaired from West Automotive, from gear differentials, to brakes, to simple oil changes, Mike and Andy are the guys to talk to. The shop consists of a great staff that are all very educated in their specialized fields. Whenever I drop my car off, the manager Mike always tells me to go grab lunch and when I come back the car will be ready -- and he definitely delivers every time. This is a great shop if you are one of those customers who constantly worries about the quality of care that is bring put into your vehicle, as well as the amount of money. I love my Fj Cruiser, that's my baby and I have only had it serviced at the Toyota dealer for All repairs. I am the type of person who gets 2 or 3 quotes before making a final decision. My best friend recommended that I take my truck into West auto for a basic oil change. I was so pleased with the rate I was quoted (competitive), efficient service and the work was done rather speedy considering I walked in without an appointment. And the shop is AAA certified!!
