You know they say it's hard to find a good mechanic shop. We'll I must have hot the jack pot. I've been taking my cars to West Automotive Center since 1996 and I can't say I've ever been disappointed. The staff is always friendly & helpful. Their waiting area is comfy with cold bottled water, cookies & tv. What more can you ask for? There's even been times I come in for something as small as a nail in my tire and they seal it on the house. My friend said her mechanic charges her for everything :( She's going to my mechanic next time! I truly appreciate this place. I'm always given time frames and detailed explanation of my cars repairs, as well as options. They have even taken care of a rental car when my work will take longer than I can wait. I really feel like they care about their customers. They remember people's names and I've heard them asking other customers about situations they may have discussed at last visit. Stuff like "how's your mom, she had her surgery right?" Isn't that sweet?? I think so. Hope this helps someone make a decision to try this mechanic shop. I'm so happy with the work Mike did on my car. I was sideswiped on my way to work. My car was hit on the driver side door and scratched aaaallll along that side. It was very ugly :( Anyways, I filed a claim with my insurance and opted to take my car to West Automotive, instead of one of their recommended shops. been there done that, was not impressed with their recommended shops.. ANYWAYS. Mike has worked on my moms car, and my brothers car. both cars are looking great and running great too. So I knew he'd be a great choice. I'm very happy that my car looks brand new again (yay!!) and I'm very happy with the level of customer service we received. Mike told me it would take a week and a half to 2 weeks for my car to be fixed and it was done in that time frame. he always let me know what was going on, and provided such great service. Good prices, good service. Had them repair my fuel pump. While it was out found a issue with the tank. So had Mike order a larger tank. Paid a little more than I should have for the tank itself, but not by much, and it was worth every penny. Was interesting to be on the other side of the fence . ie. being the crazy customer as compared to the guy trying to make it all run smooth. lol. Karma I guess. :) I can honestly say I would highly recommend Mikes shop for your repairs needs. Straight shooter, no BS. Aint nobody got time for that ! I took my car for oil, brake, disc, axel change at this shop they gave me the absolute best price plus they did it so fast that I was like wow not like other mechanic shops when they try to scam you and try to make you pay what you shouldn't be paying for something that's not even wrong on your car... I have been here a few times and I really love how the staff takes the time to explain issues and they always suggest what needs to be fixed rather than demand it. They also offer great prices and have helped me with a few small things at no cost. They are always very welcoming and will take your car as soon as possible. My most recent visit with them I had my car towed to them on a Saturday afternoon (After hours!). Five minutes after my call with AAA, Mike called to ask if my car had been delivered yet. I cannot be happier knowing that someone knows that my car is going somewhere and that he is also very much on top of his business. I first came to west auto in 2006 when my Kias' starter failed. I called AAA and they had me towed in. Im very skeptical of mechanics shops, but these guys are kind and professional, very clear about the diagnosis of my car, going over every part down to the gasket. I am mechanically savvy I just don't have the time. They tell me straight up what the problem is and what it will take to get it fixed. All within a reasonable price and time frame. I have taken my car to them ever since for everything from minor services to accidents. I don't trust my car anywhere else. For their level of service and quality of work, you can't find a better shop. L O V E West Automotive Center! Been coming here for over 15 years now! In all those years I can not think of one negative experience. The staff EVERYONE is always so courteous and helpful. I absolutely love how they walk me through everything from what they will do with a simple oil change to a larger job. They always outline diagnosis for me and explain it in terms I can understand. I feel like family there, they know my kids names and always ask how we are doing. I even get a periodic call to check on us. For some larger jobs I have needed, they have helped me get a rental car. On 9/18/14 I took my car in for suspension work. When I picked it up later that day I noticed that the tank was empty. This prompted me to look at the mileage. The shop manager neglected to generate an opening invoice, therefore no initial mileage. I then checked my dashboard camera and was shocked to find that the manager took my car for a "test drive" of at least 15 miles. I was angry and asked for a partial refund due to the abuse of my trust and misuse of my vehicle. They declined and insisted that this is an acceptable and customary practice, asserting that I gave them the right to drive/use my vehicle when I signed the opening paperwork. Oops, they didnt get my signature on that paperwork!! The Bureau of Automotive Repair investigator told me it was "not illegal" to do this but agreed that most consumers would be unhappy with this practice. Do You Know Where Your Car Is? read more

This place is a scam! I tried going here to get my car fixed due to overheating and he gave me an estimate which was very high. Way too overpriced and it turns out the diagnostic he gave me was wrong! I didn't need to fix my water pump or thermostat it turns out that the wiring was wrong. Went to my other mechanic and fixed the problem for less than $100 the guy really had the nerve to charge me 1310 for something that was not even broken. Don't go to this mechanic!! read more

Mike, Leonard and Andy have been more that patient with me when it came to properly diagnosing and repairing my 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. From the moment I walked into their facility, I was attended to immediately and had all my questions answered pertaining to their business, their labor rates and as well as what they can do for my vehicle in terms of repair and service. I had just bought my vehicle and I was shopping for an honest and reputable repair facility (yes, believe it or not, they are rare, but they exist if you do your due diligence) to take care of it. I went to four different repair facilities in the Van Nuys area to see if they would be able to work on and service my vehicle. To be honest, I didn't get a good vibe from them. I didn't appreciate their manner and attitude in the way they approached me. They didn't even take the time to talk with me and find out what I really wanted done to my vehicle. Also, their prices were quite astronomical. We're talking price gouging here, people. I understand you're in business to make a profit, but please don't rob me blind in the process. My last stop for the day was West Automotive Center. From the moment I walked in, I felt an easy feeling. Mike, the Manager, was patient, professional and knowledgeable when it came to addressing my questions and concerns I had pertaining to my vehicle and the repair facility. He was also willing to work with me when it came to the pricing (unlike the other facilities I visited) of the work that needed to be done to the vehicle. I had major things to be done and he more than accomodated me and my schedule. I must say that when I got my vehicle back, I was more than pleased with the finished product. My car is runningt like a top now. I am a very picky person when it comes to my vehicle and so I inspected and went over all the work that was done with him like a fine toothed comb. Mike also went out of his way to point some minor things that needed to be done and he took care of it free of charge. I really appreciated that attention to detail on his part. I have taken my car here a few times in the past couple of years because it's the only place that I've come across that has impressed me and not disappointed! I first was referred to this place by a friend, but was hesitant to go because it's a bit far. After trying my luck at local shops I was frustrated by the waste of time and money I was experiencing. I made the drive to this shop and it has been one of the best decisions I've made. Thank God for the integrity of Mike and his team...it is priceless! Visit #1- I had a range of problems from engine heating, leaking, shaking, to AC malfunction. I know a thing or two about cars, and about bs (which is what I was getting from other shops). I was being quoted $$$$ for a new compressor, sealing the leaks, fixing engine mounts, and possibly a new radiator. What I feared the most was losing that money for a job that wouldn't be done right (if those were even the real issues). When I came to West Automotive, Mike inspected my car and gave me a list of problems in order of priority. He showed me the issues personally (so I knew this was not bs). The amount I got quoted was a few hundreds as opposed to over $1000. There was no need for new compressor since there was just a wire misplaced. The radiator was not an issue, but rather a defective water reservoir which was allowing water/coolant to escape. The leaks were fixed, engine mounts too, and my car no longer shaking. A problem I had been struggling with for months was suddenly fixed overnight. This was about 5 years ago. Visit #2- I was so impressed with their work that I decided to get my rear side brakes replaced, as they are the ones that are boxed in (not just break pads) and are harder to do it yourself. No more breaking sounds and cheapest price! And I also got my transmission serviced and strut mount fixed. Lol...make the trip count. Visit #3- My car gave up on me in Glendale. It was overheating and the steering wheel too stiff to rotate. Called Mike and described to him what happened. He asked me over the phone to lift the hood and told me the rubber band next to my water pump should be loose. I did...it was. I was willing to pay extra to have AAA tow it to his shop rather than try to save money towing it to a local shop that would most likely rip me off. I got the water pump fixed and band for a reasonable price. Have been there other times for minor inspections. Planning a trip there soon. Establishing a relationship with a shop you can trust is so important. I'm happy I was able to do that. I've referred friends which have been satisfied as well.
