Mu-Shu Chicken Lunch Special

One of my favorite spots to have lunch at in town! This Chinese restaurant is amazing, the staff is always super nice and helpful. The food is really good fresh and it comes out quickly. Love the interior decor of the place. It has that classic old school Chinese restaurant vibe to it I love it here.

Finally got to try Imperial Garden and it falls somewhere between 3-4 stars. I always round up when I'm unsure of the number, nice staff will always leave enough of an impression on me to round up. This restaurant is definitely giving blast from the past, I loved the inside. Baby pink and green decor. It's definitely old school in decor and that's what gives it its charm. I called in an order for pickup so I didn't get to dine inside but I went in for my food and waited a few minutes so I got a good look at the place. The staff working here were very very nice. Both a woman and a gentlemen helped me and had friendly attitudes. I felt my patronage was appreciated. My food was ready right on time and packaged nicely. The food overall had hits and misses. Every dish was good but having read some of the higher 5 star recent reviews I think I had gotten my hopes extra up. The dishes I enjoyed were the veggie egg rolls. As simple as they were they were very tasty and the winning combo is how good their spicy mustard and sweet and sour sauce are. Would totally get this again. Another dish that I liked was their chow fun, needed a little more sauce in my opinion but was promising. The two dishes that were average were their fried rice and shrimp egg foo young. Wouldn't likely get them again or recommend them. Not bad by any means but just okay. An appetizer, one main dish, one noodle dish, and one fried rice dish came to $60. Always on the hunt for good Chinese food. This place definitely filled my craving for the day but not sure it would be in my very top Chinese restaurant recommendation for this side of town. My breakdown is: Service 5/5. Food 3/5. Pricing 3.5/5.

Hot, fresh and savory!!! Food came out fast! Great quality ingredients were slowly tasted. Inside is your typical old fashioned Chinese neighborhood restaurant. Nothing wrong with that. Let the great food and fast friendly service do the talking. Plenty of parking outside. Inside is clean and the restroom is not dingy like the ones in Chinatown. We randomly selected this place because we were craving for some Chinese food and we don't want to drive to Alhambra or San Gabriel.

I was in the area for an appointment and found this place on Yelp! So glad I gave it a try, it's so delicious, flavors are so authentic. Staff are kind and give it a family vibe! Definitely coming back to try other dishes!

My family and I have been loyal patrons of Imperial Garden for over six years, appreciating its proximity to CalLu and the convenience of its fast pickup service. Generally, the food is satisfactory, with generous portions and consistent quality. The restaurant maintains a clean environment, providing a pleasant ambiance for dine-in patrons.

Was surprised to find such an authentic spot for Chinese in Oak Park!…read more I came by for a Mother's Day lunch with my family. When we arrived around 1 pm, the restaurant was maybe half full. But clearly it was popular as people were coming in constantly the entire time we were eating. Even though the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, most of the dishes on the menu were more like Sichuan dishes i.e. spicy. All of the food was super solid and portions were ginormous. My recommendation is to order 1 dish per person if you want leftovers, or order one less dish than the # of people if you want to finish most of the food. I don't handle spice very well, so we ordered a mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes. We shared the following: #1 Yunan rice noodles ($16.99) #32 scallion pancake ($8.99) #104 Chong qing fried chicken ($16.99) #107 braised pork belly with buns ($19.99) #109 boiled two items - fish and duck blood ($21.99) Given that the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, we felt like we had to order one of the most popular dishes from that region, the Yunan rice noodles i.e. crossing the bridge noodles. I really enjoyed the silky smooth mixian noodles as well as the flavorful broth. The fried chicken was too spicy for me; I ate one piece and my whole mouth was on fire. Everyone else said it was quite spicy as well, so eat this in moderation unless you can really handle your spice. The 3 pepper signs next to this dish on the menu are no joke! The braised pork belly was delicious, but portions were on the smaller side for this one. Still, I enjoyed making a little bun sandwich with the pork belly and pickled veggies. The boiled fish and duck blood was also super solid. It was just a little spicy, so I was able to manage a couple pieces with the help of rice on the side. Portions were very generous for this dish. We all ate lots of fish and duck blood and still had a ton left to take home. They also have some precooked 涼菜, i.e. cold dishes, on the side you can buy for dine-in or to go. We got 3 of the meats - pork tongue, pork head, and and beef tripe, to go. Paid $16.99 for a huge box of these meats. We thought this was a steal too. Can't wait to try some at home!

Top notch authentic southern Chinese food…read more The yunnan rice noodle was beyond delicious, kind of like a Chinese pho with silky Chinese noodle This is definitely one of the best Chinese restaurant in the area I use to goto the original Monterey Park location back in college, and now Being able to get it here is definitely a win! I like the house special braised pork belly which is a caramelized and salty meat in a pot. Delicious with copious amounts of white rice. Some of my favorite items to get at this place are: -Stir fried intestines - these are cooked with spices and numbing pepper. The intestines taste like they were deep fried and have a crunch to them. -Mushroom medley - 3 different types of mushrooms in a brown sauce and some type of white meat. -Beef rolls - sliced beef inside a flaky savory pancake with hoisin sauce and cilantro This is a great spot for Hunan-style dishes that have the complex smoky, spicy, and numbing spice flavors. I'd go for those dishes over more traditional fried rice, beef and broccoli type Chinese food.

The Ordering Experience:…read more Ordered via GrubHub, but disappointed to find staples like Peking Duck, Dan Dan Noodles, and Shrimp Dumplings missing from the online menu? Broccoli Shrimp ($19): The broccoli was perfectly steamed, but the shrimp were a letdown Instead of the expected jumbo/large size, they were small (51-60 count) and lacked flavor Also, the peas and carrots felt out of place in this dish Spring Rolls: Crispy and worth the price! (Note: They were served with ketchup?, so have your own chili crisp ready) Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables (The Star!): Absolutely delicious Perfectly textured pork with just the right amount of fat-not too heavy or falling apart Even with the overcooked vegetables, this is a "must-order" again The Verdict: Good flavors on the traditional dishes; just wish the shrimp size matched the price point!

No biggie - patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you had in mind. I had to write a review because I knew one particular person was going to tarnish them because they didn't have that patience. As I suspected, he did. See the other review entry for today. It's definitely him. Let me share with you the chain of events I witnessed that allowed me to connect the dots so I can likely assume was him. With us other patrons waiting so patiently, because again, the manager was sharing with us how they were looking and was super apologetic. One can only tell you 10-15 mins but hey I knew I wasn't the only one there. Except for this guy who believed he was the only patron and should have been waited on hand and foot. He says 45 mins. I call BS. I was there. At the end of it all, he and his party walked out because 10-15 mins in a restaurant with patrons eating in and taking out was "too long." Thank goodness. Plus his attitude to some of the patrons was gross. The cherry on top was he was honking his horn to Mandarin Bistro for some reason as he was driving away. Um ok? In conclusion to that fool, YOU want private dining, stay your ass at home. For the rest of the Yelpers, if you want amazing chinese food while supporting small business in Newbury Park, I highly recommend Mandarin Bistro with utmost enthusiasm!

One waitress reminded another that we were "on the waitlist," and she then loudly shouted across a room full of customers, "We don't have any available tables right now." The way the situation was handled felt very dismissive and humiliating, especially in front of my children. It was disappointing because we had been looking forward to returning and spending a special family afternoon there. The sushi was excellent, the customer service was outstanding, and they made our family feel genuinely welcomed. Highly recommend Muzen Sushi.
