Always a solid spot for takeout. This time we ordered orange flavor beef and cashew chicken. Fresh, flavorful and filling. Order is always ready on time and the woman at the front always so friendly!

One of my favorite spots to have lunch at in town! This Chinese restaurant is amazing, the staff is always super nice and helpful. The food is really good fresh and it comes out quickly. Love the interior decor of the place. It has that classic old school Chinese restaurant vibe to it I love it here.

Finally got to try Imperial Garden and it falls somewhere between 3-4 stars. I always round up when I'm unsure of the number, nice staff will always leave enough of an impression on me to round up. This restaurant is definitely giving blast from the past, I loved the inside. Baby pink and green decor. It's definitely old school in decor and that's what gives it its charm. I called in an order for pickup so I didn't get to dine inside but I went in for my food and waited a few minutes so I got a good look at the place. The staff working here were very very nice. Both a woman and a gentlemen helped me and had friendly attitudes. I felt my patronage was appreciated. My food was ready right on time and packaged nicely. The food overall had hits and misses. Every dish was good but having read some of the higher 5 star recent reviews I think I had gotten my hopes extra up. The dishes I enjoyed were the veggie egg rolls. As simple as they were they were very tasty and the winning combo is how good their spicy mustard and sweet and sour sauce are. Would totally get this again. Another dish that I liked was their chow fun, needed a little more sauce in my opinion but was promising. The two dishes that were average were their fried rice and shrimp egg foo young. Wouldn't likely get them again or recommend them. Not bad by any means but just okay. An appetizer, one main dish, one noodle dish, and one fried rice dish came to $60. Always on the hunt for good Chinese food. This place definitely filled my craving for the day but not sure it would be in my very top Chinese restaurant recommendation for this side of town. My breakdown is: Service 5/5. Food 3/5. Pricing 3.5/5.

Hot, fresh and savory!!! Food came out fast! Great quality ingredients were slowly tasted. Inside is your typical old fashioned Chinese neighborhood restaurant. Nothing wrong with that. Let the great food and fast friendly service do the talking. Plenty of parking outside. Inside is clean and the restroom is not dingy like the ones in Chinatown. We randomly selected this place because we were craving for some Chinese food and we don't want to drive to Alhambra or San Gabriel.

I was in the area for an appointment and found this place on Yelp! So glad I gave it a try, it's so delicious, flavors are so authentic. Staff are kind and give it a family vibe! Definitely coming back to try other dishes!

My family and I have been loyal patrons of Imperial Garden for over six years, appreciating its proximity to CalLu and the convenience of its fast pickup service. Generally, the food is satisfactory, with generous portions and consistent quality. The restaurant maintains a clean environment, providing a pleasant ambiance for dine-in patrons.

There are many other options on their menu, feel free to explore. My kids are picky eaters but they absolutely love the Chinese food from here. I of course enjoy the authentic sechuan flavor being Chinese myself. The restaurant is kept tidy and clean, if you want a dine in experience I recommend you to make a booking, walk-in is very welcome but keep note that sometimes it gets really crowded. They have frozen handmade dumplings for sale too if that's something you want to look into.

Was surprised to find such an authentic spot for Chinese in Oak Park!…read more I came by for a Mother's Day lunch with my family. When we arrived around 1 pm, the restaurant was maybe half full. But clearly it was popular as people were coming in constantly the entire time we were eating. Even though the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, most of the dishes on the menu were more like Sichuan dishes i.e. spicy. All of the food was super solid and portions were ginormous. My recommendation is to order 1 dish per person if you want leftovers, or order one less dish than the # of people if you want to finish most of the food. I don't handle spice very well, so we ordered a mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes. We shared the following: #1 Yunan rice noodles ($16.99) #32 scallion pancake ($8.99) #104 Chong qing fried chicken ($16.99) #107 braised pork belly with buns ($19.99) #109 boiled two items - fish and duck blood ($21.99) Given that the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, we felt like we had to order one of the most popular dishes from that region, the Yunan rice noodles i.e. crossing the bridge noodles. I really enjoyed the silky smooth mixian noodles as well as the flavorful broth. The fried chicken was too spicy for me; I ate one piece and my whole mouth was on fire. Everyone else said it was quite spicy as well, so eat this in moderation unless you can really handle your spice. The 3 pepper signs next to this dish on the menu are no joke! The braised pork belly was delicious, but portions were on the smaller side for this one. Still, I enjoyed making a little bun sandwich with the pork belly and pickled veggies. The boiled fish and duck blood was also super solid. It was just a little spicy, so I was able to manage a couple pieces with the help of rice on the side. Portions were very generous for this dish. We all ate lots of fish and duck blood and still had a ton left to take home. They also have some precooked 涼菜, i.e. cold dishes, on the side you can buy for dine-in or to go. We got 3 of the meats - pork tongue, pork head, and and beef tripe, to go. Paid $16.99 for a huge box of these meats. We thought this was a steal too. Can't wait to try some at home!

Another delicious meal from Sesame Inn!…read more We've lived in the Suntree neighborhood in Newbury Park for 23 years, and have really enjoyed food from Sesame Inn (3327 Kimber) recently. Sesame Inn was owned for a long time by Jennifer and Paul, but went through two changes of ownership once they retired. A new couple, Ling and Shao Yung, now own Sesame Inn, and have kept the original recipes. The restaurant is currently carry-out only. Ling handles the phone and Shao Yung runs the kitchen. They're delightful! We've ordered most things on the menu (including the "secret" menu), but keep gravitating towards our favorites. The shop has a few small tables situated, but found the floors dirty in multiple places and the overall smell was just not pleasant for such a small place. The table service was handled by an older woman, who may have been the manager. She was rude and curt towards us. When we were finished with our small bowl of the Asian style crunchy noodles and smaller bowl of duck sauce, we asked for more, and she informed us that we would have to buy a bag of noodles for $7 dollars. This is after we were seated and ordered our dinner. The orange chicken was over-fried and lacked taste, while my sweet and pungent shrimp was super soggy, almost relying on the sauce to act as the seasoning. Our pot stickers were ok .. but not great. They also had little to no flavour / seasoning .. and were dried out .. possibly over cooked, as well. I'm unsure if new management acquired this business, but it was not this way a few months ago. Seems like this place is beginning to penny pinch on the small things to save/make a few extra bucks. I so hope this place improves or turns around as I will check in now and again for good news! Thanks !

No biggie - patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you had in mind. I had to write a review because I knew one particular person was going to tarnish them because they didn't have that patience. As I suspected, he did. See the other review entry for today. It's definitely him. Let me share with you the chain of events I witnessed that allowed me to connect the dots so I can likely assume was him. With us other patrons waiting so patiently, because again, the manager was sharing with us how they were looking and was super apologetic. One can only tell you 10-15 mins but hey I knew I wasn't the only one there. Except for this guy who believed he was the only patron and should have been waited on hand and foot. He says 45 mins. I call BS. I was there. At the end of it all, he and his party walked out because 10-15 mins in a restaurant with patrons eating in and taking out was "too long." Thank goodness. Plus his attitude to some of the patrons was gross. The cherry on top was he was honking his horn to Mandarin Bistro for some reason as he was driving away. Um ok? In conclusion to that fool, YOU want private dining, stay your ass at home. For the rest of the Yelpers, if you want amazing chinese food while supporting small business in Newbury Park, I highly recommend Mandarin Bistro with utmost enthusiasm!
