If you check before you sit down, you might find a dessert special at the bakery bar when you walk in, offering a half-off dessert to go with your dinner or to take home. Since it was New Year's Eve, I get the staff was having fun. Just should of made sure tables were cleaned off for new customers to sit and to make coffee the way it should be made, instead of getting confused because you were talking about that evening and what you're all gonna do. They do have a membership, to enter your phone number , and after a certain amount of coffee you get a free cup. I at least got credit for my iced coffee that I couldn't even drink.
