On the way to Stroudsburg today, we decided to stop for soup and sandwich. The Italian wedding soup with small cuts of beef instead of the usual sausage, $4.25 a bowl, was hot and the fried fish sandwich on hamburger bun, lettuce, tomato and onion for $6.50 filled my endless craving for something fishy. The tuna salad on a hard roll was great, $5. Really nice server, fast and on pointe. read more

Stopped in to Beseckers today to continue my tour of "the best omelet in the Poconos". This was bittersweet for me right out of the gate because I used to come here often with my father before he passed away. I haven't been here in over 15 years...it was my first time in without him. My server was very friendly and good at her job. The place honestly looked exactly as I remember it looking a decade and a half ago. I ordered a western omelet with cheese, home fries, and rye toast. Trying to keep my order nearly the same everywhere I go so I can rate accurately. There were onions available for the home fries so I opted in for those. I love me some onions. The Omelet was cooked well, probably the best I've had so far as far as the cook on the eggs goes. Very light spots of brown here and there but pretty much spot on. The ham dice was a bit larger than ideal so some bites were a bit tough, like large pieces of ham can be. Otherwise this was excellent. The home fries were cooked well and the onion flavor was awesome. The toast was toast. The coffee was good, not great. This cost a little more than other spots but home fries were an add on, and the onion was also an add on. Typically these spots have home fries come automatically with the omelet so I was surprised by that, but perhaps because the clientele is primarily senior citizens I guess maybe they don't eat as much and it made more sense this way. If that was the case though, the omelet could have been another couple dollars less. All in all it was a solid breakfast and I'm happy I came. Well well well. Been coming to Beseckers for a long time and every time I step in here the atmosphere is what you expect when you here the word diner. Service has always been super friendly. To be honest, I only ever get the corn beef hash and eggs which they ran out of! Couldn't believe it haha. This stuffed French Toast was - not my first or second choice but we'll give the extra star for Nostalgia. :-) I'll be back again and again. read more

An old style diner in the Poconos where the locals flock to. If this is your cup of tea, you'll love it here. Have only been there for breakfast but got less than $10 you can get 2 eggs with home fries, bacon and sausage and either toast or pancakes. Besecker's is local to me, and I find myself going there several times a week when I can. Most of the time I'm in the mood for breakfast, which they serve all day long, and I usually get a ham and cheese omelette, with their home fries, which are always the same, very consistent, and taste great. I add salt and pepper to taste, I haven't gotten it with onions yet, but after reading one of the reviews, I'm going to try it. The waitresses are very friendly, and are starting to know me by name, which is nice. They do offer a reward card type thing and it's tied to your credit card or your cell phone number so after about $100 or so you get a five dollar credit which is just nice. The coffee is wonderful, but since I'm a diabetic and I like sugar, I keep it to just 2 cups otherwise well, I could overdose on the coffee! They do have specials for lunch, and I'll pick one occasionally and they usually very very good. I don't have any complaints, it's clean, friendly, nice people, they'll sit me in a booth where possible, but I'll make myself accommodating and sit at the counter if they're very crowded. All in all, I highly recommend them. Oh, and they also have free Wi-Fi. read more

Excellent!!! The food and service were top notch! The decor was nice and VERY clean; it was a diner! I had liver & onions with mashed potatoes and gravy! It might have been the best I've tried! The pirogies sautéed with butter & onions on the side were great! My husband had vegetable soup, about which he raved! He also had a grilled cheese with Turkey and tomato on it. It was superb and neither of us could believe how much Turkey was on it! Our server was impressive; she came around the perfect amount of times. The prices were incredibly low. Wowza! This diner is the bomb diggity! Came here for brunch with a bachelorette party, we were able to sit all around the counter top. This place is legit. No bells and whistles, no crazy decor, just a cozy feel of an authentic diner. The menu sports classic and beloved diner staples - eggs, pancakes, bagels, hot drinks, and the most amazing French toast. Half of our group got stuffed French toast and not one bite was left on our plates. We also tried the pancakes, farmhouse eggs, hash browns, and home fries. Everything was smack and tasted like love. The pancakes melted in your mouth and tasted like a perfect fluff of butter. Home fries had a perfect crisp! They had glass bottles of hienz ketchup, as I said this is a legit diner. Server did not checkup on me when I was sitting waiting for another cup of coffee .. she took forever to give me my check when I was leaving she said she was busy serving other people and I had to wait for the check . I ordered with my pancakes 1 egg no toast and she charged me for 2 eggs 4.25 and she only took off 0.95 for one egg she needed to take off $2.12 for the egg . Which when I told her she said no .95 only I said I refuse to pay that and I went to a manager who finally took it off and told me not to come back again !! I was shocked is that how u treat a customer. I will never come back . How dare she . Paid for what I ate no tip !! UPDATE. Don't wait a month to reply and then lie and invent your own version of the facts. I wasn't rude from the start. Your waitress was rude from the start. Being EXTREMELY busy is no excuse use for poor attitude or to tell your existing customer you're busy and they will have to wait for their check. It's no excuse to make them wait 10 minutes to fill an empty coffee cup when a diner has pots of coffee at the ready all day long. Don't try to slander me by making it sound like I didn't pay for my bill or tried to skate on it. All I wanted was a fair bill and not to get raped for one egg on the side that I ordered with my pancakes, and it was you who made it unnecessarily a problem, not me. You don't charge a customer $4.25 for two eggs and toast when all they ordered was one egg on the side, and then tell them that for your mistake you will only take off 95 cents and still charge them $3.30 for that one egg on the side. It doesn't cost $3.30 for a single egg on the side at any diner in this area. For your information, I am very happy with another diner...your competitor...Triplets!!!! Where I always have a great experience and they know how to treat their customers and they don't try to rob them blind. It should have been a $2.12 deduction. I should not have been charged any more than $2.12 for my single egg on the side and that is all I was asking for. It was a reasonable request. You unreasonably denied it and insisted that 95 cents was all the computer was taking off so that was all I was getting. You were extremely rude about it to me. That is why I was mad and expressed my anger about the situation and said I wouldn't pay the bill until the eggs were corrected. I never said I wouldn't pay for what I ate. I never demanded you take the eggs off altogether. I asked to speak with your manager to get the half credit adjustment on the eggs. I asked only for $2.12 to be removed and had every intention to pay for my single egg that I consumed. Your manager rudely decided not to come out and speak with me face to face but to send you back telling me you took the entire eggs off the bill and to never come back again. The only person that made us feel welcomed was the hostess. The hostess got a nice tip from us because she deserved it, the waitress got $0.00. Great affordable place to stop at when I'm in town. Usually go for the Turkey melt and fries after having mozzarella sticks but, today I tried the Italian wedding soup. This housemade hearty soup is flavorful and awesome during any season. I also had dessert for the first time. Ordered the triple layer strawberry cake. Really enjoyed it. I do recommended a glass of water with their sweets. My best friend is a huge fan of their beef noodle soup and comes highly recommend. Trust me she's a local. Thumbs up! read more

This diner has been in business for decades. They can be very busy at times. Earlier this year, I took my mom there for breakfast and their parking lot was nearly full. Best meal in the Poconos in all our trips! In fact, it was so good that we came back the following day with a group of 8! We were meeting our real estate agent down the street at the ReMax office and ran here for a quick lunch before looking at houses. Otherwise, we probably would not have found this place since it's not off Rt 209. It's a lot less busy here but even on a Friday at 11:30am, the parking lot of this place was packed. On our second visit, we came back that Saturday around 3pm and that's probably the better time if you have a larger group. The Tuna Melt was everything I could have asked for. The thickly sliced bread was crunchy. The tuna and cheese were oozy. The cole slaw on the side was delicious (I almost forced the rest of the table to get cole slaw the next day). The dinner rolls were warm and we asked for a second basket despite many at the table being on carb free diets. When we came back with friends, everyone all but licked their plates clean. We ordered everything from the Fish and Chip to the Hamburger Soup to the Steak. Everyone (all picky Manhattanites) finished their dishes. Prices are very reasonable. Dish sizes are on the large side (I had leftovers both days). Our waitstaff both days was phenomenal and we plan on being back often! read more

literally my favorite diner ever... i bring everyone i know here and i always get the same thing every time (steak n eggs with a short stack and hashbrowns [the real hashbrowns, NOT home fries!!]) and it's always so good. it's a very small-town vibes diner with a family-like staff. the pancakes are to die for, best pancakes in the area hands down. idk what they put in there but i am an addict. it can get very busy during the typical hours (breakfast and lunch). the diner isn't huge (compared to the pretty large parking lot) but the wait time is never that long either. one time i went for lunch on president's day and it only took like 10 minutes to get seated so, not bad. i'll never not love this place :-) read more

My friends and I went to this place for lunch, however the second we walked in we knew we wouldn't be welcome. Apparently, if you have too much melanin, you aren't welcome in this restaurant. The staff was racist, and was very cold to us. We got yelled at to close the door while we were waiting to be seated. Rather than subject ourselves to this kind of bigotry, we decided to leave. Passing by, needed lunch around 3pm, found Besecker's on Yelp and with 4 star reviews...... Classic diner. Although I think the tile work may be as old as I am, (don't ask!), the service was fast and very friendly. Menu was typical diner, went for the liver and onions, (one of my faves), with a side of Italian wedding soup, and mashed with gravy. Soup was pretty darn good, although meatballs were just pieces of larger ones. Liver and onions (with BACON, of course!) done just right, and mashed and gravy standard diner, but good. My wife and I were on vacation and stopped here for lunch. It was built in the 50's and they've kept that retro look. The atmosphere is warm and casual, and the service from EVERYONE from hostess to servers to waitstaff was top-flight and friendly. (We returned twice again in the same week and had the same great experience.) The food was consistently good and their tuna melt is the best I've ever had! Since living in the Stroud area I've also gravitated to this little nice diner. Every time I am in the area I have to stop whether to get something to eat in or take out. Just got back from there from dinner. Ordered a hot roast beef sandwich which came with strange-looking mashed potatoes, lumpy gravy and a very generous amount of the toughest beef I've ever had! My brothe-in-law got the special, spaghetti and meatballs which looked good and my husband got a stuffed pork chop which was baked so hard and was so dry, it was hard to get down.
