First off. This is a sports bar! With abnormally good food! So if you want waterfront and table clothes you ain't gettin it. What you do get is really really good food! And typically a very fun and engaging bartender if you sit at the bar! The wings! Let's start there. Have to be the best I've had! Anywhere! I like sandwiches and this place has several that are amazing! The regular burger is better than " the worlds greatest" that they also sell. Yea yea it's meat from Pat Lefreddas in NY or whatever. Excellent food in a sports bar. The crab cakes were fantastic, the side vegetables perfectly seasoned, with tasty homemade potato chips. My husband had surf and turf and said both the steak and crab cake were perfection. The asparagus was not an afterthought, it was perfect as well. Sat in bar area and had plenty of TVs to watch sports. 4-5 beers on draft, so liked that. Boursin Quesadillas were flavorful. Steak & cheese sliders & boardwalk fries were good combination. Not the best place, not the worst place to eat in Annapolis. I would go here to drink and maybe have an appetizer but I don't know if I would come back for a full sit down dinner. There are plenty of other restaurants that are more enjoyable than this one. I have searched high and low in the area only to be disappointed over and over again by bad service and sub par food. The food didn't leave a lasting impression to me, nor did the service. If that is what you are looking for, something that will do, go here. My son and daughter-in law gave my wife and I a gift certificate for Christmas but we don't get to Annapolis very often, so today was the day.We did lunch for our anniversary. The service was good waitress was friendly and very helpful. The food was good even though i had to send my burger back to be recooked i asked for med. rare but a little to rare and cold in the middle, but they recooked and it was very good a little cosly at $12. My wife had the chicken salad the veggies and lettace were crisp and the dressing was very good. We also had the super nacho good but not worth the cost $12 small plate, we finished off with a dessert shared the moltten lava cake, good but not worth the cost $7. First let me say that most of my food was quite good. I had the Peruvian Shrimp, the tater tots, and a chocolate cupcake for dessert. It tasted and looked great. The reason for my low rating has to do with service. I was so pleased when the restaurant had a gluten free menu and I ordered only from that. I have to assume that either the waitress forgot to inform the kitchen of my needs or that their "dedicated fryer" was contaminated because I felt sick for the rest of the day. WHAT A GEM!! Between the two of us, my fiance and I have over 25 years' restaurant management experience. We're huge foodies and always on the lookout for new places to dine out. A friend of ours (who also used to be in the restaurant business) described what the chef is doing at West End Grill as casual, quality, and creative--kind of like a gastropub. Of course, we had to check it out. We were absolutely blown away by the creativity of the menu and the quality of the wine list. (Thursday night is 1/2 price wine!!). They have a great selection of beers too. It was a little early, well before the dinner rush, so the chef came out, introduced himself, and even offered to do a tasting menu for us. What an experience! Every dish he brought out to us was thoughtful, presented beautifully, and absolutely delicious! The fish didn't really hit the spot for either of us, but by the time dessert came around, we were to happily stuffed to even consider it! If you're like us--you want to be able to relax, maybe watch a game, have a nice night with your friends, and definitely have a choice of delicious, crafted food versus deep-fried bar junk. On that note, I have to say that West End Grill hits the spot, not the wallet. It's a hidden gem we plan to take advantage of often before the word gets out. Best sports bar in town. They have tons of tvs and the food is great. They have a big lot so it is a nice alternative to the Towne Center or downtown when you don't feel like parking in the garage and walking a few blocks to the restaurant. The decor is pretty casual but every meal I've had there has been good. My favorite is the pork chop or the berry salad. read more

I love this place. The food has always been good and I have sampled much of the appetizer menu, a few sandwiches and entrees! Their happy hour special for half-priced appetizers can't be beat. $5 for hot crab dip and $3 for a large portion of cheese tots. This place can fill up too as it isn't very large, but I can see why. I used yelp to help find something good close to me and it delivered. The food was excellent. I wanted to try so many things. I settled on the Maryland Style Nachos as one thing. These where the bomb. As a starter or side, the homemade chip with crab dip and corn were addicting. As for my other item I got their hottest wings called Otis wings. I was a good dry rub, very hot but not uncomfortable hot. Wings where cooked well. Good stuff. Oh am I had a house salad that featured artichoke hearts and their own dressing. The restaurant is hidden in the shopping center across from Double T Diner but totally worth it even if you have to make a U-Turn. They have by far the BEST Thai Wings in town. I crave them on a month to month basis. There appetizers in general are all pretty good along with their assortment of entrees/specials. Great to go and watch sports on TV and have several games to play within the bar. Great beers on tap and a nice wine selection. They have a back room that is pretty spacious for any parties. And the servers/bartenders are always on top of your orders!! Along with their annual New Year's Eve Bash is always a good time :) I gave Westend 5 Stars for the wings and the great bartending service. read more

I must apologize for the harshness of the stars. I was so very disappointed with my lunch there today. I wanted to try something new and the reviews seemed SO positive. The single star is from my experience, but it may still be worth a shot for others. Quick summary : - Work-day lunch, should be somewhere between 30~60 minutes, took nearly 2 hours. The service was the main culprit and was so slow we got more attention from the manager than our waitress. - Food was good when done right, but the uneasiness cause by the baby roach on the appetizer plates overshadowed this. - I know others will have better luck than we did, but my friends and I will not eat here again. Full story: The outside was cool, but the inside did not reflect this modern theme. It does advertise as a sports bar, but their menu makes it seem like more. I was not impressed with the atmosphere. From stepping through the door, it looked like a dark, cramped diner (mostly vinyl booths, torn and patched with duct tape, and laminate tabletops), which is fine except the strange smell (dingy mop, grease, and something I can't put my finger on.) First, about the meal, we went with the Thai wings to start, delicious! There was an extra guest brought to our table, a baby roach (alive) on the stack of appetizer plates. I couldn't stop staring at the thing running around; my husband kindly put the plate on another table out of my sight. I have lived overseas and eaten in much worse conditions and been fine, so we continued. We order a couple of sandwiches, couple of burgers, and the chicken bruschetta. All of it looked good and tasted good. However, the burgers were both ordered medium and they were very bloody and first bite exposed red (not pink) meat. They kindly took them back and grilled them up a bit longer for us. They did finally taste good. Ironically, the main complaint and large part for the singular star was the service. Our waitress was very nice and personable but was never there. She may easily have been over tasked, but the place was not crowded and it was really under-populated for the lunch hour (noon). The meal started out okay, minus the lapse of refills. Once we got our entrees and discovered the burgers under cooked, we could not find her. We were checked on by the manager (~10 minutes after our food arrived) and we used that opportunity to send the meat back to the fire, which is good b/c it was cold by now. She was also helpful and took care of it. By this time, a total of an hour has lapsed since we were seated. Since this is a work-day lunch where we arrived around 12, I expect to be out before 1. My friend, who had the other burger, had to get a box to go once the burger got back from the re-grilling and leave without getting to really eat it since he need to be back for a 1:30 meeting and this was taking forever. It took us another 30 minutes to get out after he left. Even when we got our check, we actually had to flag down another waitress to break a 20 for us. They kindly took 10% off the bill for the under-cooked food. read more

Hosted our wedding rehersal dinner here last Friday and it was awesome. The food was great and the back room had lots of space for my 40+ guests. Service was good and we spilled over into the bar area after the dinner for more drinks and to listen to the live music. They have tons of tvs - so would be great place to watch sports. Your typical sports bar. At first I was dismayed, the place looks rather "din gee" as though it probably isn't too clean. Did not use the restroom. So I thought the food would be commensurate with the surroundings. Wrong. The food is good. The MD crab soup is made from scratch and is delicious--better than any other Annapolis restaurant. Do not go if you are into atmosphere. It is on the darker side and smells like a well used bar, but, that is what it is. The service is ok, the food takes a little time to come out, so order up a drink and an appetizer and watch one of their TV's. They have an excellent beer selection and their wines are just average. The food is very good. Crab Cakes are above average, the salads are fresh and tasty. Fish Tacos are very good as are their wings. We have gone back 3 times and each has been consistently good. After coming here three times, I'm kind of over this place. The service is great but the food is just mediocre. The first time we ate here, several months ago, I was overwhelmed by the menu and had trouble deciding what to get. I settled with the little river chicken salad and it was pretty good. My husband got the bruschetta fish and I remember that being a pretty solid dish. We also tried the chimichurri wings, which he liked but I wasn't blown away by. The second time we got buffalo wings. I can't remember what my husband got, but I got the chicken and avocado sandwich without a bun. Again, so-so meal but I think the wings were good. Today we came for dinner and we got buffalo wings once again. They were good, but the skin kind of weirded me out. I once again ordered the wrong thing and tried the new bistro salad. It was a great concept, but the pears were not fresh (they were canned) and the dressing really tasted bad. It's my fault since I did not ask for it on the side. My husband got the special rib eye and he liked it, but did say it was over cooked in some areas. I think I'm finally done after three separate visits. If you are looking for a place to watch a game, have some apps, and drink a beer, then this is definitely your place. If you just want a nice dinner, I would say to look elsewhere. read more

I want to lead off by saying the food here was 4 star, but the service is a 2 for sure. Also I think the name West End Grill is misleading. It's more of a sports bar, which is totally fine, but I did expect something different based on the name. We arrived and sat ourselves in the bar area. We were approached a few minutes later by a blonde server in a Capitals jersey, who did not provide her name, but did provide menus and take our drink order. She returned with our drinks and we placed an appetizer order and our entree orders. At this time I told her we had purchased the yelp deal $10 for $15 worth of food. She said no problem she would get the code at the end of our meal. This is apparently one of those places where they don't write down your order and unfortunately our server did not have the skill set to remember our order, hence the 2 stars. We ordered the crab dip; however, our server brought out the Maryland nachos instead. We pointed out her error and a few minutes later she returned with what we had actually ordered. No biggie. She then brought my fiance out the Greco-Roman Caesar salad he had ordered requesting no tomatoes or olives. Of course it had both tomatoes and olives, which he just picked off because at this point the bar was getting busy and our server less available. Our meals were then brought out by an expediter. My fiance ordered wings with extra bleu cheese and I ordered the Cuban sandwich with a side salad instead of fries. Wait for it........ranch dressing with the wings and fries with the sandwich. Since the expediter did the drop and run we were unable to bring this to his attention so we tried in vain for about ten minutes to locate our server. Food was now cold so we gave up and just ate our meal. My fiance is REALLY picky about wings and was thrilled with the buffalo and Thai chili options and my Cuban sandwich was fabulous! About 15 minutes after we completed our meal the server came back to see if we were done and then quickly ran off to get our check before I could remind her about the yelp deal, which of course she had not remembered on her own. She came back with the check and gave her the code at which point she had to go back and get help to fix the check. Ten minutes later we had the corrected check and she had a $5 tip on a $55 bill, which reflected the level of service. If you choose to roll the dice on the service here I would definitely recommend the yelp deal. read more

Recently had a retirement party at West End and they exceeded our expectations. Very helpful with the planning and allowed us to put our personal touch to the room. Definitely a bar more than a restaurant. I had the French dip, which was pretty good, but not great. I also had the "Annapolis Rose" soup - a mix of Maryland crab soup and cream of crab soup - very good stuff, but not enough crab meat for the $4.75 price tag for a very small cup of soup. After reading a lot of mixed reviews I decided to give the West End Grill a try. This is definitely a locals spot which is a good thing. The environment is very laid back and chill. The food is pretty good and I recommend their tator totts to anyone who makes it out. They have some very unique and good desserts such as deep fried oreos, cinnamon roll french toast bakes, and fried ice cream. Their draft beer selection is a bit limited but if you are looking for a place to chill and have a few that's not an issue. read more

I've been to West End many times. It is one of my favorite spots because of a great drinks options, happy hour and excellent service. I have never though, been there for any sort of event. Today we went there after my wife's Grandmother's funeral. They had a private room off to the side dedicated to use with enough service to sufficiently meet our needs. Well, to not make this too long winded, they absolutely blew our minds. The food was fabulous!!!! We had crab dip with toasted baguettes, mini crab cakes(I guess crab balls), meatballs in marina and chicken satay. From top to bottom they were all amazing, absolutely blowing all of the party goer's minds. I would highly recommend having business meetings, family get togethers and parties to anyone in the future. Absolutely amazing experience. Thank you for making our event so special!! read more

Very tasty food. We had the buffalo and teriyaki garlic wings with their house made blue cheese dressing as a starter and they were good, especially their teriyaki garlic sauce. I had their Ridiculous Dog - a huge deep-fried dog covered with beef chilli and cole slaw while my husband tried their "world's greatest burger". I enjoyed my hot dog tremendously! My husband said their burger was just OK. It came out overcooked and not as juicy as it looked. Great place to watch all kinds of sports since there were Tv's all over and the bar area was very popular. I wished they didn't play the country music though! All in all, it was a great first experience. We will return to try more of their dishes!! read more
