Would love to love this place. There are a couple of issues. First the good, fun atmosphere, communal feeling. Great waiter and the Pretzel with Mustard and Beer Cheese and the Schnitzel Sandwich were great. Now the bad, no handicap seating in the bar. Only tall very narrow metal stools no foot bars. Dining room, no handicap seating. If you are in a mobility device there is nowhere to pull out a chair to allow the handicap chair in only long benches. I have to say, it is not handicap friendly. If I could rate this restaurant 0 stars I would. I was so excited for a German schnitzel. I had had one in years. When I ordered one, it came to my table burnt to a crisp, hard, and because they used pork, it still had that nasty pork smell to it as if they hadn't cleaned it properly. I then kindly returned the schnitzel and they brought me a brawtworst, which I was also excited about. About 10 min after diving into my "so-so" brawt, I take a look and notice about an inch of green mold on the bun. I mean, come on...really? Love the open outdoor-indoor concept with big garage doors that roll up for great ventilation. Also have patio seating. The service is personable, prompt, and attentive. I have medical restrictions on my diet and the kitchen was understanding and my food came out quickly as ordered. Vegan options including sausage are available and tasty. It was a nice evening the night I decided to check out the new "German" restaurant in town. The weather was mild and there was a cool breeze. I sat in the main hall. It's literally a hall with hard concrete floors, hard walls, and a hard ceiling. Sound in this hall does not absorb well at all. It was incredibly loud, also the staff were kind enough to let the door that led to the restroom crash loudly when it closed. This probably happened 15 times. It was really jarring. Did I mention it was loud, because it was. I wanted to find out if the food was worth the obnoxious noise of the dining room. Well, it really wasn't. I order the schnitzel. It is served on pretzel bun, with cole slaw and a fancy mayo. I got the fries as a side. My order came and it was laughable. My fries were 2mm thin wedge cut potatos. Nothing really of note about them aside from being lazily plated. My main course was only edible. My schnitzel tasted as if it were a frozen and then over cooked. It was huge and stuck out of the bun by quite alot. It was only passable when eaten with the cole slaw, due to it being very dried out. I tried it by itself and it really didn't taste good. If someone had told me it was frozen chicken or beef I would have believed them. It really had no discernable taste aside from an over cooked burnt taste. So really nothing really to come back for. I wouldn't recommend this place. The price of admission doesn't reflect what you receive. Unless it changes, spend your money some where else. read more

Hot, new German spot in Lodi! Overall, we had a great experience. We decided to order the pork Schnitzel, kids grilled cheese, and a burger. The burger was just ok, but the schnitzel was definitely a winner! I loved that the buns were like pretzels. My daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese. The beers were good too. The fries that came with my daughters grilled cheese was enough for all us to share. My husband liked the fries probably because they were like chips and thin. I understand that their business is still new so they might working out a few kinks. The server took awhile with our beers and almost forgot my husband's cider. Saw some buzz about this new place so we decided to check it out. They have a few appetizers, but we had to try the deviled eggs as we use this to measure attention to detail at places. These were really good. Tasted great and were well-constructed -tipped with a little piece of bacon. We ordered the burger and the schnitzel sandwich. The burger is ground in-house from brisket. The grind and texture were perfect. The schnitzel was very flavorful and tender. Many places often serve a very tough smidgen but this one was delightfully tender. Toppings for both were proportional -just the right amount for the meat and bun. Now about the bun. It's a soft pretzel bun that isn't tough and over-salted like other places. It really made the burger and sandwich truly amazing. The side salad was fresh and had stone blue cheese crumbles. The fries were really great. They had and interesting cut -like a cross between French fries and potato chips. They were thin but perfectly cooked. Some places overcook their thin fries but these weren't overcooked to the point of becoming potato chips. They have a great beer selection in draft, bottles and cans. This is a great little German tapas style spot. The drinks here are super delicious!! The schnitzel sandwich was crispy and tasty. Deviled eggs are pretty but skippable. Spaetzle was pretty good but a lot of sauce compared with the traditional presentation. Nosh fries are really good- pickled onion and jalapeño on top of a nice béchamel sauce poured over thin, steak cut fries. Love love love West Oak Nosh They have a great menu, It may be a little on the small side but I much prefer a small well executed menu then one that is large with few quality dishes. I always get the apple butter burrata as an appetizer but everything I've tried is delicious, the food has excellently balanced flavors. The environment is fun and it's super cute inside. I will say that it can be quite loud when they get busy Friday or Saturday nights in the bar but they also have a separate sitting area They have an awesome selection of beers and wine and some fantastic cocktails. Five stars for the schnitzel sammich! We also tried the spätzel and sausage platter (2 brats and one polish). DEFINITELY get the schnitzel...possibly the very best schnitzel sandwich I've ever had; the pretzel roll and slaw garnish were original and perfect. Included the fries which were also simple, but original and a good complements the schnitzel-pretzel roll sandwich. Wasn't as impressed with the spätzel. It was also very original with bacon, poblano, mustard seed and cheese sauce...had a little toooo much going on and was a bit soupy. Yay- finally a great German Restaurant in Lodi!! I went here with my 2 girlfriends. The seating is communal which makes it fun. They were really busy but we were attended to right away and the service the whole time was spot on ! The food ! The Nosh fries were yummy as was the deviled eggs. We split the schnitzel sandwich was on this amazing pretzel bread - so soft - the schnitzel was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. "Stumbled" upon this establishment and we were extremely glad! Koa was attentive, accommodating and his attention to detail was uncanny, (If you don't want to read a quirky story skip this part) So after our delicious Brussel spouts appetizer he noticed my buddy kept his his fork and napkin (he is weird) and I had my napkin. We came in on Sunday about 2ish and it was kind of weird. The kitchen was changing over so we had to wait a few but honestly the food menu was a bit lacking. From the moment I pulled up I could feel the positive vibe and knew I was about to have a really great experience for our Mother's Day Celebration. Having lived in the bay and experienced great restaurant vibes in SF, Oakland, etc, I got a feeling that I had possibly taken a wrong turn on 99 and somehow got beamed-up to Hwy 580 in the bay! And the food? Shooooot!! Don't even get me started!! Well, ok...for Starters; we had pretzels, avocado toast, deviled eggs and the Nosh fries!! And ALL OF THEM WERE DELISH!! My fave were the Nosh Fries though. They were hot, thin, just enough crispy and the beer cheese and flavor...out-of-this-world!! You'd think after all those starters we'd be full, and we kinda were...but the food was so amazing we HAD TO order more!! I had the Pork Schnitzel and it was excellent. Never had one before, so didn't know what to expect, but that was part of the FUN of this restaurant! The pork was tender & moist on the inside with an amazing breaded crunchy goodness on the outside. It was served on a pretzel bun (the ONLY menu item not prepared on site) with just the right amount of relish, greens, and German condiments served on top. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their food choices. I was told repeatedly by my brother and sister-in-love how Excellent their sausages were. (Again, made local on-site!!) And to top it off, our server Jessie was freakin' adorbs!! She was fun, attentive and soooo knowledgeable about all of the food items, as well as the beer recommendations. I have been wanting to try this place since it opened, and we were finally able to to do so! And it was sooooo worth the the wait. We stopped by for an appetizer and a beer. Their beer list is great with a large selection. Marcus recommended one to us, Mother Earth's Creamisicle (I believe). Fantastic recommendation! We then decided to split the Nosh-os. I do believe this was the best decision we ever made. They were big enough for us to split and they were LOADED. The flour tortillas chips were so perfectly fried and the toppings were on every single chip. Bacon and beef were delicious, avocado was amazing, the pickled onions were so good, I could have just eaten those by themselves, and every other topping was just so damn good. We can't forget about their Nosh-o cheese and the cilantro jalapeño sauce. Holy moly. I may have a new addiction and it's called West Oak Nosh. read more
