Easily one of my favorite coffee spots in Rhode Island, West Shore Coffee Bar is owned by a great guy (Dan). They have a bar selection, CBD selection, and coffee selection... a good variety for a coffee shop, it truly does live up to the name. I ordered the coffee milk latte today which is 2 espresso shots and Munroe Dairy coffee milk. If you haven't been to West Shore Coffee Bar you are absolutely slacking and need to be put on. West Shore Coffee Bar is an adorable beach inspired coffee shop. It is filled with surfboards, Beach art and various license plates. Teenage girls are running this coffee shop. I got a banana flavored iced coffee and a Chocolate chip muffin. The coffee was ready quickly, I had to wait a bit for the muffin because it was in the oven getting heated. In the back of the shop were the restroom is, are two armchairs and a sofa. These were extremely filthy. They really should be replaced. You can also sit at the bar, or at the booths. My coffee was strong and cold, but the banana flavor was very subtle. The chocolate chip muffin was cut in half, I think it was a bit over heated, it was still very good and the chocolate was gooey and melty. This is a cute coffee shop worthy of a visit. It's not on the menu but the barista made me a cortado this morning. If you're usually a latte or cappuccino drinker, try a cortado next time. Instead of foamed milk, a cortado features steamed milk with the espresso. I think it's a richer flavor. And it was tasty this morning as I sipped it and studied my phone for the horrible weather and how I would make the most of it. WSCB is comfy with a nautical theme. Neat place with major surfer/boarder vibes. Definitely different from any other coffee place I've been to. And it's not a bad thing! Just had an iced coffee with cream and it was good! What a great spot. My dad and I stopped in when we were running an errand in Warwick. They had a lot of options for the coffee lover and many breakfast options. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel and it was quite tasty. Prices are reasonable , service was great. Recommend for sure. read more

Dang, The ice coffee was not it. I don't know where to begin with the flavor. It was also half warm and half cold. I'm looking for my drink to be cold! Not warm. On the other hand, customer service was pretty good. They were kind enough to go over the menu and was patient while I was deciding what I wanted to get. Parking is also pretty good. I have to say I had really high hopes for this place. However, I was highly disappointed and grossly unimpressed. I ordered through DoorDash so a return wasn't an option. My order was incorrect and it could've been tolerable if it was actually worthy of being called anything remotely close to what was ordered. Btw, let me just tell you, when ordering a $6 drink, you get a small. So don't expect your money's worth. One drink was supposed to be a shake with whipped cream and brownie crumble toppings. Apparently not. So don't expect anything. Also, don't recommend the ham & cheese croissant. I'll include a pic below of these two items. It wasn't a croissant and the ham was apparently still at the market. I'm all for trying new things at new places. But I'm also all for never going back. I always try to find a local coffee shop every time I travel. Coming from the west coat to the East coast, I was utterly surprised by west shore coffee bar. I got 3 drinks, just because I couldn't make up my mind, and they were all on point to satisfy my caffeine addiction. I got the coffee milk latte, Samoa latte, and the chocolate peanut butter latte. The chocolate peanut butter was a little bit different then my usual, but I'm on vacation, why not.. and it didn't disappoint. All 3 actual had a good amount of espresso to milk ratio. I even got a sample of their coffee milk, which was a little sweet, but i definitely can see how that would bring out the coffee in their drinks. Great friendly service! Great little coffee shop, a bit pricey but good coffee . The death by chocolate iced latte is incredible.

This surprised me because I didn't realize how much it had going on. There's a pretty decent food menu, alcohol (!), smoothies, and a *secret* latte menu. (I asked the poor employee about every picture on their Instagram: "what is this?! And this? What ARE these things??" And then I was given the secret menu). I came for the açaí bowl, but this is the first place in all of my research that had nuts in the granola they use :( So instead of granola, I had my choice of strawberries, more banana, or more honey (standard: it comes topped with banana, honey, and granola). I went with strawberries thinking they'd be sliced berries, not a sugared compote version. The açaí bowl was fine if you've never had one before, but I found it SO sweet. Whatever health benefit is incurred from the açaí is negated by the sugar. (But did I eat the whole thing? YES I DID. I liked the giant mug it was served in.) I also got a decaf Maui latte, and I really liked it. Again, it was sweet, but I expected it there. Their other drinks (like the unicorn one) are a diabetic coma waiting to happen, but great for the teenagers who come in. My only real complaint was that it was rainy and cold that day and still all the windows were open. It was FREEZING inside. I liked the decor and would have wanted to stay longer, but a smoothie paired with cold temps made my teeth chatter, so my friend and I cut our lunch date short. It's a fun spot, but I might not make it back unless it's a warm day and I'm waiting for someone to arrive at TF Green. read more

Wanted to love this place... the outside is cute and the attempt at decorating the inside was unique. However the overall space looks a little grimy. You can see into their food area and they cook their food with an oven/microwave too. The table booths looked worn and their were phones and stuff strewn on the breakfast bar. I really, really like this place. West Shore Coffee Bar is an all around friendly, efficient, and cool little joint that is WORTH all the West Shore Road traffic during the summer. I first went to this place at the beginning of the month because of the RI Food Fights Iced Coffee tour. They've got an array of syrups and freshly brewed coffees, but the glazed donut flavor really caught my eye. Ordered it decaf with cream. It's a delicious brew. Not as sweet as I'd expected (but that's on me for not ordering with sugar), but it definitely had that "glazed donut" taste to it. The breakfast sandwiches are great. The surfing pig on an everything bagel is excellent, piled high with ham, bacon, cheese, egg, and avocado. Ordered ahead, but it was still piping hot when I got it home. Gotta respect that level of freshness. I also think they're handling the pandemic very well, and I feel safe going into their storefront, which is a big deal. I've been back three times since I got the free RI Food Fights coffee. I think I've found my coffee spot. read more

One of my favorite coffee places for sure. The people here are beyond nice. I went here for my first visit on 6/4/19 and got a coffee. The coffee was phenomenal. They have an abundance of sugar free flavors that most coffee shops do not have. When I went there, I stayed talking to the workers for at least a half hour. They were so nice. I went back the next day and got the raspberry beer I believe it was and that was really good too. I had their Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte as well which was SO GOOD. The banana split latte is really good too, but I would ask them to put more banana in it for that extra flavor. The scenery of this place is so cute. I love it. They have a bunch of games too which is awesome. It's a cute spot to just hangout and go with friends. It's very comfortable. I love it here and I will be back ! read more

Warwick finally has REAL coffee!!!! I've lived all over Rhode Island and in other states and was so pleased when a local business came to Warwick and brought real coffee that tastes great. I know RI is filled with D&D fans (dunkin donuts, not dungeons & dragons people...oh wait, there are a lot of dungeons & dragons fans there though. Anyway...) but, I was so glad to have artisan made coffee without pretension attached. VIBE They have a beachy vibe, which makes total sense being a stones throw from Oakland Beach and the other beaches on this side of Warwick (I'm over at Conimicut). It's very Cali, beachy, surfer vibe inside and is cute, homey, local and inviting. Also a great space to work in since they have booths and wifi for you. Many people also stop by with their pooches, so bring your doggie in for a coffee spin. (Note to bad dog owners: Dogs should not eat dairy, so you probably want to rethink giving your dogs whipped cream, just sayin', sorreeeeee.) Other than that, your dogs are so cute. VEGAN & LACTOSE PEEPS They also have plant-based milks that they can make your latte with, so go for it vegans and lactose intolerant peeps. They have you covered! TAP BEER??? Yes, they have a selection of tap beer so mix it up and get a latte, get a beer, sit for a spell either way and bring a mix of friends- some have coffee, some can drink- both are covered. Check the website for the full list, but you won't be disappointed and they also have a daily selection of different pastries in the front case, so go there and see what is there each day. Family First Cafe is an odd name for a coffee shop but my review isnt based on that. I went in today on my lunch break for a Buzzin' Bear- a specialty drink they made when it was known as West Shore Coffee Bar... I was taken aback by the inside of the shop, it looked dirty and rundown. You could see they haven't remodeled much at all from when the previous owners had it. The stools at the counter still had the previous name embroidered in them and they looked dirty- (never use white stitching on somewhere people are sitting LOL). The walls were bare and you could see all the paint scuffs where the previous decor was. It looked really shabby, sadly. Unfortunately, my drink was nothing more than milk and ice, I couldn't taste the peanut butter or honey of the old recipe. I wanted to like this spot again, because its so close to work, but with so many other options in the area its going to be tough. The only positive part of this review is the customer service. The cashier was very nice and seemed friendly enough. Might wait a while to try again and update my review. read more

Unsafe and poorly run. Do not go here. I do not like writing negative reviews, but this is actually a public health concern. The employees masks were often pulled down, exposing their noses. Then they'd touch their faces, negating the usefulness of wearing gloves. There were at least five customers sitting at the bar wearing NO MASKS AT ALL. Other customers who were waiting for their orders or sitting to dine-in were also not wearing masks. This is unacceptable and should be reported. I will be finding out if it's possible to do so. The manager, who disappeared for about 20 minutes while the place was really busy, said nothing to the employees or customers who were violating the mask rule. Also unacceptable. Yes, COVID is a pain. Yes, RI is doing better than most places. That is no excuse for becoming lazy about following the simple and well-known rules. That will easily undo what we've accomplished to this point. All of that is reason enough to report the place and never go back, but the service was also terrible. 25 minutes for two coffees and a bagel sandwich? The coffees are supposed to be served first while you wait for any items that take longer. The people sitting at the bar, who appeared to be friends of the manager and employees, got all their orders right away. Do not go here. Report face mask violations. The businesses that are doing things with conscience deserve your money, not this one. read more

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating. The concept is different and welcoming. More of a beach vibe feel inside. I just don't know if West Shore Rd in Warwick is the best fit for a place like this. I love the fact they are trying to do something different with serving an extensive beer list and having different events at night. It not only brings in a day time clientele but also builds the business at night which most coffee place may not have. Here is wear it falls short. You have a lot of competition in this market. From Starbucks, Brewed Awakenings, cafe tiempo, etc. The product just fell short. The coffee strongly tasted of the flavored syrup. It didn't have a good coffee taste. The bagels were not made fresh you can tell they are outsourced. The sandwich was just average. There was very little food displayed. A couple muffins and two bagels. The only thing that I thought was pretty awesome is they use Monroe dairy for coffee and chocolate milk. This place is new and has potential but they need to work a few things out. read more

Have been coming here for awhile and never had a problem, however today I ordered a sandwich and was disappointed because it was ice cold and didn't look or taste like it was cooked. I went back in and explained and then heard an employee say, "just heat it up for a couple of minutes". I was hoping for a more genuine and caring response and more effort to make sure the customer enjoys their visit. They were nice enough to make a new sandwich, but it was burnt to a crisp and the cheese and egg were nearly black. Way way too crowded- seemingly not following the rules which have been put into place during Covid. Many weren't wearing masks, even just sitting around- 20+ people inside despite it being small. The drinks seem lavish and sugary but I'd try elsewhere, at least for now - to stay safe! read more

Basically it was like a horrible guac spread over cream cheese and it was nasty. I like fresh avocado much better. I would have given this place 4 stars when they first opened up, but it lost a star for me for a variety of reasons. I'll start by saying the food and coffee are delicious. I love the acai bowls. The iced coffee is creamy and perfect without needing cream or sugar. Personally, I stay away from the syrups as they are overpowering and sugary. I used to come in every weekend for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee, but I rarely do anymore. I have a dog, I am a dog lover. With that said they are a little TOO pet-friendly. Essentially there are no rules when it comes to people bringing their dogs inside. I've seen dogs sitting in booths, I have watch people play fetch with their dogs across the entire length of the seating area and I have seen dogs off-leash inside. It is one thing to be pet-friendly, but there should be policies and rules around this. read more

So I am disappointed and really would rather have been giving this place a higher rating because this was one of my favorite spots. My husband loved it, I brought my daughter here and she wound up bringing her college friends too (they all bought merchandise to represent) but the negatives are starting to outweigh the positives. Like I said, I have been a regular for awhile now, in fact, I have purchased quite a few pieces of merchandise for friends and family and even came into the shop with my West Shore T-shirt during my last visit! But there have been a few consistent issues that are beginning to affect the experience. I usually like the cookies and cream concoction. It is offered as a latte with espresso. I am highly anxious and cannot have too much caffeine for numerous reasons, so I have been ordering just the coffee version. Whenever I clarify, the barista charges me accordingly because I believe it really is the espresso that is the up charge not bits of cookies. But my last visit was strange... So, I arrived ( in my West Shore T-Shirt) on July 21st, looking forward to my coffee and order. It began with the encounter of the barista who I often see and get really bad vibes from and STILL don't know her name because she isn't friendly to me and avoids eye contact and dismissive. After ordering, she quickly informs me that she is going to charge me $5.00 for the coffee whether it is the latte or not because of the "fixings." I am almost 100% positive that she meant the crushed cookie pieces. I asked her if she can just make the flavor, she said yes, so it was the coffee without the cookie pieces. I cannot understand how the cookie pieces would warrant an extra $2.00. I can understand the espresso! This puts me in an unfortunate position because I can't justify paying $5.00 for cookie pieces in my coffee, so I ordered it without the cookies, a tea and an avocado toasted bagel. I can understand charging a little extra, but not the same price as the espresso. This confusion had also cost me from having my coffee partner( husband) accompany me there. He often encourages us to go other places because he said he no longer likes going. I asked why and he said they are "not friendly, charge unfairly and take too long." I argued and would say that only a few people were unfriendly and perhaps he was unclear to them as to whether he was ordering the coffee or espresso. He would often get charged different prices. Now I know it wasn't him. Maybe there had been confusion amongst the staff as to what they should charge, and this was their decision unfortunately. In the beginning, there was a lively, friendly and informative gentlemen we would often encounter. We returned often after ordering from him. We are unaware if he is he owner or manager, but it would make sense that he was. Whenever we would go in when he wasn't there, we would feel unwelcome. No eye contact, personal conversations that would make us feel awkward, and the workers just talk amongst themselves with whoever their "friends" are at the bar. They are often so engaged in their own conversations it takes FOREVER for them to complete orders. I remember and understand how nice it is to have fun with co-workers and hang with friends at a work place ( coffee shops and bars) and I understand that the theme is laid back, but it is still a business. People are often in a rush when they grab their coffee, unless the ambiance and people are welcoming. I often returned regardless because the vibe is intended to be relaxed ( music , allowing dogs, Disney movies) and so I anticipated longer wait times, but if the staff isn't having you join in on the friendly laid back atmosphere never even saying HELLO or goodbye you end up feeling like an " outsider" impatiently waiting for your food. Overall, it isn't good business sense to only be friendly to a certain client base ( I guess we don't fall in that base) and not others and to lose consistent and dependable income from regulars like me in the long run. Eating the extra cost of cookie pieces ( probably like 15%) from a dependable source who comes back and brings others to the business just doesn't add up literally. I am writing this lengthy review so that it may help the owner. I also gave it two stars because I didn't want to hurt the ratings too much, but needed this to come to their attention because I am sure there are others like me. I like the food, the coffee and the theme and the few interactions with the friendly people but said above needs attention. I may try it again in a month or two to see if anything changed. Perhaps my review won't even make a difference, but it would be nice if it did. I like to see businesses thrive. My family owned one. It was in the family since 1929!
