We had been coming all summer for Sunday brunch, which has always been a 5 star experience. Incredible food, bloody Mary's and ambience - this place is an absolute gem for brunch. We finally went for a splurge dinner and the experience was nothing like our fond summer brunch memories. The experience was unfortunately a solid 3 stars and not one I plan to repeat given all the other dining options in Longmont. Service: we did not see a server for 25 minutes after being seated. I had to go wander outside to hunt someone down and even then it took awhile. No apology or acknowledgment from the server either which I found odd. I'm not sure they even knew we'd been seated in the cabana so not sure we'd ever have been served if I hadn't of found someone. Drinks: Fantastic. I would love to try happy hour at the bar sometime to try more. Food: disappointingly subpar for the price. I got the nearly $30 chicken and it was... fine. Chicken breast served on rice in a rich very salty gravy. I felt like I could have recreated the dish at home (with a heck of a lot less salt), which is not what I want when dining out. My husband had the steak skewers and felt similarly. Portions were hearty, which was a positive. Bummed dinner did not match expectations, but I do look forward to continuing to enjoy the Sunday brunch. And happy hour! read more

Steak frites was excellent! Loved the fact that they cooked the steak exactly how I ordered it. The frites were yummy-- essentially house made potato chips. Mediterranean chicken was really good too. We weren't drinking that night but the cocktails looked really good. We'll be back! read more

BRUNCH!!!! The absolute best Eggs Benedict I've ever had (veggie version) - and I've tried a lot. The hollandaise was perfect and clearly made fresh. My wife ordered the Monte Cristo and she was also in heaven. We sat at the bar and had great service and it was all quick too. They have a bottomless mimosa or Bloody Mary situation but we had things to do so didn't partake - but next time for sure!!! read more

Both my partner and I have 2 girls each, so getting some much needed 1 on 1 time has to be scheduled well in advance. My reservations were made 2 months in advance and it was totally worth it. I don't want to say too much about my personal experience, just because you should call them today and ask to reserve there basement room. You'll be happy I didn't leak any secrets or details. 2nd time here: good drinks, but thank goodness I wasn't asked how the food was. I ordered the Four Cheese Grill, which is basically a grilled cheese. It was ALL bread. Almost no cheese. So if you want to pay $12 for some greasy bread, please do come by. See picture for the one bite that had some cheese in it... Otherwise, great atmosphere and cozy place! Response to the managers comment (since I can't hit reply): thank you for your care--I really do appreciate it. Also, please check the cams again as I was just there and I can guarantee I was not asked. You referred to my server which I did not have since I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and made great drinks, but also did not ask. I'd be willing to give you all a 3rd chance, and regarding hating Yelp (in which I do not disagree) and, I implore you to see my track record on Yelp and I only leave a negative review if it's been at least two or three times with a less than appealing experiences. The hostess did not save our indoor seating reservation. After waiting at the bar for 45 minutes we accepted patio seating although the temperature was 90 degrees. Far less noise there than inside and the seating was comfortable. After a disappointing start the service was excellent. Our party of four had mixed reviews about the food. Two said food was quite good. One found the food good. One was not pleased with his food. Consistency in any business is a challenge. I've lived in Longmont for almost a year - drove by Westside Tavern at least 200 times thinking "we should check that place out." Despite the creepy decapitated giant skeleton next door - we ventured in. Wow - the pictures don't do it justice. It's mechanical and artistic in the best way. We sat at the bar and while we don't drink, we watched the artisan bartenders create amazing drinks. Our food was so flavorful and amazing. My husband and I shared our dishes - and I wanted to lick my plate. My only sadness was that there weren't leftovers. Yummy yum yum. Keep up the excellent work! This is our 2nd visit to WST. We are in Longmont about 4x a year and now this is our "go to" restaurant for an upscale family dining spot. There is nothing to critique here as the entrees are excellent - very well thought through with unique flavours and combinations. The beverages as well are quite out of the ordinary with amazing flavours. The kitchen definitely knows what they are doing here !!!! The serving and greeting staff are very professional, kind and helpful in explaining the dishes. The staff are very helpful when trying to assist in making a dish gluten free and will swap components to get you there. We came as 4 adults and 2 children (5&2). Maddie was just an excellent and sweet server (we had her our last visit in January). Get ready to be wow'd !!! The owners are really nice folks and you can tell they love what they do. read more

I am a brunch aficionado. I've worked in brunch restaurants as a cook. I've had brunch in the global food capitals of the world. And this place is up there. the service is incredible. After all these years driving by and not trying West Side Tavern, I decided to check out Yelp reviews Friday 3/22. They have a really good review average. What really impressed me about the reviews is the replies that the I assume owner gave back to several of the whiney customers. He did not sugar coat any of his replies. People need to realize the world does not revolve around them and if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Anywho, hat tip to you sir....the world needs more people like you. Now, we sat at the bar for Sunday Brunch 3/24. Sierra was our bar tender and did one hell of a great job, my Wife had a Bloody Mary and she said it was really good. My beautiful Wife (I outkicked the coverage when I married her) ordered the avocado toast and absolutely loved it, I had eggs and ham. Everything was great. The sourdough bread was awesome. I noticed they have a very nice liquor selection specifically their whiskeys. First time in West Side Tavern and we will be back soon to try their Dinner menu! read more

West Side Tavern is the place I like to take friends and family visiting from out of town. The restaurant is encompassed by gorgeous, stately homes of Longmont's Old Town (peep the giant skeleton in the neighboring home's backyard). West Side has expanded their outdoor area, and with gas heaters and privacy tents, eating outdoors is just as cozy and enjoyable as it is dining inside of the stylish restaurant. The cocktails, food, and service are always superior, but be sure to make a reservation. The secret is out, and getting a table during peak evening hours is almost as hard as finding a parking spot. read more

We came here for a date night on a Friday night- first time trying out the place. It was highly recommended to me by a friend so I was excited to try somewhere new. Our first impression was how tiny it was inside. There were 6 tables, one long shared table that sat 8, and a bar in the inside area. I'm not sure what all was outside- I saw an outdoor bar area where we were leaving, and I thought I saw heated tents in their previous reviews. I didn't see any tents, but they could have been tucked in the back. The interior was whimsical and fun- very Alice in Wonderland-esque. But again, SMALL. We were seated right away and brought waters by the hostess. I looked over the menu and was slightly disappointed in the drink menu- It seemed to lack variety in terms of liquors. I first ordered to rose, and was informed that they were out and was brought a blush Pinot Grigio to try. It was not to my taste, so I ordered the rose bud tequila cocktail. YALL- that thing was STRONG. I sipped it the whole hour of our dinner. It was a very interesting taste- not sure how to describe it, but it reminded me of a Mexican resort cocktail but x100 in strength. We shared the crab avocado appetizer and then ordered the steak kebabs and chicken au vin for our entrees. The appetizer was OK- the seasoning on the chips was great. Idk what I was expecting, but the "dip" was kind of hard to maneuver in the halved avocado. Maybe it it had all been mixed in together and then restuffed into the avocado halves. But once we scooped the top of the crab dip off the avocado, it was just plain avocado on the bottom that we had to hollow out ourselves. Not much flavor. Our entrees were really good and HOT! The chicken was smoking hot- the flavor was amazing. It was rich, deep and fragrant. My only complaint is that the skin left in the chicken was not crispy at all- it was rubbery and not very appealing. The steak kebabs were great. We thought they were over cooked, but they were tender and flavorful. My husband LOVED the sauce on the potatoes. He wanted more, but our server never came back once the entrees were delivered, other than when we asked for the check. Our meals were delicious- our reservation was for 5pm and by 5:30 every seat in the place was filled and service slowed. I think there were two servers handling all the tables. For such a tiny place, it was easy for it to feel crowded and claustrophobic. Overall- it was a nice date night for us to get out of the house after a long work week. This tiny neighborhood gastropub is a small gem hidden in the middle of 3rd street Longmont! One of my friends recommended it, so we decided to give it a try, and it was a pleasant surprise. Although the place is quite small, they have a community table that could seat up to 10 people. There were 6 of us and we shared this table with another small group. There is a nice outdoor area with fire pits and tables; it would be lovely to go back when the weather is less chilly. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the bar is quite impressive for such a small place. Originally, it was a 1915 grocery store, became a sandwich shop and a few other small food places before being restored to become West side tavern. Not only did they do a great job with the space, the food and drinks are also very good. They have a nice selection of craft cocktails and the menu offers small plates, sandwiches, salads and entrees that change regularly. I had the Turning Violet cocktail, pretty looking and delicious, the flower flavor subtil and not the least overwhelming as it can sometimes be. For dinner, I ordered the steak frites, consisting of two medallions of beef covered with delicious Gorgonzola sauce and served with shoestrings fries. Perfect! We shared the s'mores pot de crème and the olive oil cake to end the meal. Both were very good! We had a great time and I can't wait to go back, maybe Ï'll try their brunch! read more
