I was quoted $2000 at another auto repair center to fix my mini-van last month. It was periodically not starting. I was told by the other garage that I needed a new a/c system, alternator and battery. I was skeptical about these all being the issue. My brother (who has a lot of car experience) thought it might be a relay switch. I decided to get a second opinion so I brought my van to West Springfield Auto Care. I was told it was the relay switch and to the total repair cost was $245. I was shocked that another garage would've charged me needlessly and so much money. This has become my go to place for any repair or maintenance for my car. They are very honest with their recommendations on what needs fixing, and what can wait until next time. My car always comes back clean and running great. For oil changes, they're quick and very detail orienting inspecting the car. For inspections, they always tell you what's wrong, and give you options for how to fix it. They will tell you what's best for an old car that just needs to pass, and what's best for a newer car that needs to last a long time. The owner of West Springfield Car Care has been a service-writer for at least 20 or 25 years, as he used to work at a (very) nearby competitor. The common theme in the comments of others is fairness. I've found this to be the case also. As far as Tapas' complaint is concerned, it is generally understood that the anti-theft features that typify ignition switch work is difficult by design to: surprise!! - thwart theft! And it is common practice to charge a half-hour's labor to correct issues that arise during state inspection. They risk losing their certification under some circumstances by NOT issuing a rejection and also NOT fixing the problem in question. read more

Called this place after receiving big runaround from one of their "big box" competitors on backlick road across from outback that sell tires and do repairs. Those a**holes book appointments on line and then send you an email 2 hours later saying they don't have anything available and to call them. I call them and they don't have anything available for 3 days. Thanks for wasting my time. Anyway, Granted I only wanted a new battery before the first artic blast of the season. But Gary couldn't haven't been nicer or more helpful. Exceptionally kind and patient with me. For a battery! Turns out I was right when I thought something wasn't quite right because when he checked my battery tested bad. It was an interstate that I didn't even buy there but he informed me it had a 5 year warranty that he was able to honor because they sell them too. He Took 40 dollars off the price of the new one. I asked if they could please check the antifreeze too. Yes I checked it the day before when I heard the forecast but it was reassuring when he said we will check all the fluids. Just plain nice guys. I spoke to the person that did the install and he was nice too. All of them are genuinely nice. I may not know a whole lot about cars but I usually can spot a con pretty quickly. They didn't make me feel that they were saying and acting and doing just to get my money and get me out of there. I felt appreciated as a customer. I left there feeling just really good about them. How refreshing to find a business that knows the meaning of "customer service." WSAC is right around the corner from me and didn't even know they were there. So sorry I've wasted a good 10 years going to that other place and giving them my money. Yeah I guess the other place was "OK." That is until they screwed me with their dishonest online booking tactics. Never again. I'll be giving my business to these hardworking guys from now on. We have been using West Springfield Car Care for years. It is nice to be able to trust our repairmen... something that has not always happened at other locations. They have always been up front on what repair needs to be done and what can be delayed till later (and the warning signs to look for if the part is breaking.) One time when they could not get me in for a repair on the same day, they told me it was safe to drive for a bit and if I broke down to call them and they would come rescue me. :-) They are friendly and it is nice to see that they know their repeat customers. read more

Just a terrific place for car care. We've been going here for years and I can't imagine taking our vehicles elsewhere. When I read the occasional bad review here, I have to believe that they've accidentally posted a review on the wrong site. Many times I've taken my car in with the possibility of an expensive repair or just something trivial and WSCC has gone with the lower option when they could have easily charged me more. Searching for a reputable and trustworthy mechanic is tough when you do not have in-depth knowledge of cars and how they function. Cars are complex appliances with built-in computers and thousands of moving parts. Someone could tell me that my sprocket was not connected to my snagtop ramble on the left front beeble and I'd have no idea whether they were right or wrong. It is a foreign language to me. When looking around for referrals I found the shop closest to my house was actually the best and most highly recommended by neighbors. We have cars that are well over 10 years old so we needed someone we could trust. Neighbors told us about this place and we gave it a shot. They fixed one car and rang up a bill of a couple thousand. When I picked it up they showed me the broken parts they replaced. How many shops take time to do that for you? Not many. The prices here are very fair (I shopped around on the interweb for comparables for the work they did) and the explanation of the problems are simple and understandable when you take your car here to get fixed. We brought in our other older car here just this week to be checked from bumper to bumper to make sure everything was in good working order. They could have told me there were dozens of things wrong with this car and I would not have any way to verify it except to go through the hassle of going to another shop for another estimate. In the end, they found only one problem and fixed it that day within a couple hours. No hassle, no worries, low stress, easy transaction. It is clear why this shop has so many great ratings. They do good work. I will keep coming back to this place from now on whenever one of our cars throws a hydropling bolt. read more
