I'd say this drive in movie theatre is one of the best things about Glendale! On a Tuesday, you can see any movie for only $5 a person. Talk about super cheap! Also, some movies show double screenings which means after the first movie, there is another movie playing right after on the same screen and you're allowed to stay and watch that one as well. You can bring blankets, food, lots of people bring lawn chairs and just place them outside of their vehicle. I haven't been here since the early 90's and I was shocked to see that it was still open after all this time. The restroom were very clean to include the snack bar which had a lot of snacks to choose from. My only complaint is how they marked the lanes to park your vehicle, parking area 9 to be exact. The lanes don't match up to where the screen is and since everyone seems lost when the lines are in correctly, it makes it a total cluster when parking. This drive-in theater is a great way to get out of the house and do something (safely) during this pandemic lockdown. They have 9 screens showing a variety of movies at a time, and each screen is a double-feature for anyone who wants to stay late to watch a second movie at no extra cost. Depending on your vehicle it may take some parking finesse to position in a way for all your passengers to have a good view of the screen. Also, nearby light pollution (including from some cars that may rudely keep their headlights on) can make it difficult to see what is happening on the screen during darkly-lit scenes of a movie. I think the viewing experience could be improved if the facility had ushers go around to ask people to turn their lights off and/or if they turned up the brightness of the screen. read more

When the Hunt started, the projection was so dark that we literally couldn't tell what was happening on screen, so we decided to leave. When we asked for a refund, we were pointed to a poorly lit, barely legible dark green piece of paper with a disclaimer on it in very faded black ink, which read "no refunds" for the movies we chose due to dark projection. When we mentioned we didn't see the paper, the manager rudely and repeatedly told us they did their "due diligence" in posting the nearly invisible warning, even though nobody mentioned the projection problem when we bought our tickets. (Plus the kiosk we purchased from had the sign posted well above and behind the driver side of my car, so it was impossible to know it was important at all.) The manager did not even attempt to smooth things over and let us leave clearly feeling angry and taken advantage of. An attempt at understanding would've gone a long way, and passes for another time would have cost the theater literally nothing. Way to ruin the only way to see a movie out right now. Instead, we drove home and bought the Hunt on Vudu and enjoyed ourselves much more than we would have at that tiny screened, lame-ass ghetto theater. read more

We enjoy coming here with the whole family, especially on Tuesdays, when they have they're Family nights! Before, I would say the quality of the image wasn't so good, you didn't want to come to see a movie with lots of special effects, but that has since changed. When we went in for food there was a line but it moved pretty fast. We got a pickle and a large soda cost about 5 bucks so great pricing in a time like this. Cleanliness- was pretty good could have been better cleaner even with it as busy as it was. Staff was nice at least the lady that took our order was pretty nice and fast working. Was my first experience at a drive in! Saw The Marksman and WW 1984. I will definitely be back and not only because it's one of the few drive in's in the valley lol. Screens were good quality and no issues with audio. Came with a group and we used a wireless speaker/radio outside of our cars so no issues with sound quality. Saw a double feature and for the price it was a good deal! Facilities were clean as well. There are concessions and bathrooms that are cleaned and sanitized so that was nice! The projector stopped working 30 minutes into movie. Then when they got it back up and running again, they rewound the movie 20 minutes too far so everyone had to re-watch it again. Then the projector stopped working a second time and never came back up. This was on screen 1 which also was very dim and most scenes were hard to see and were very dark. Terrible experience. Only got refunded for admission fee, but not the online ticket fees. Understand before going that this may happen to you. I had the opportunity to attend a free movie here (courtesy of my partner's company) and I had an awesome experience! My only point of criticism would be that it was a little confusing at first figuring out where and how to park. It would have been helpful to have either some signage up or a person directing people to park in designated spots. Once we went through the entrance and were told what screen our movie was on, we were left to figure this all out on our own and there did not seem to be any system so we just parked where we were able to find room. It would also be beneficial to either have a sign by the screen or a message played before the movie reminding people to turn off their car lights as there were a few folks who left them on for the first few minutes of the movie until they were asked by other patrons to turn them off. Other than those minor things I had an excellent experience. The picture quality and sound quality was 10/10 and the popcorn was DELICIOUS. This was my very first time at a drive-in and I am already considering coming back! read more

A hassle with a side of attitude. We got 10mins into the movie and the sound through our car radio shut off. The low battery light came on so we briefly started the car to get the sound/radio back on. 15mins more into the movie and the radio shut off again with the low battery light. We realized as fast as it was draining, if we watched the whole movie, we would end up with a dead battery at the end of it. Since we had spent so much time setting up camp to watch the movie, we tried to listen to other car's speakers for few of minutes. Unfortunately, that didn't work. My 12 year old has a hearing impairment and it was just too hard for her. We decided to pack up and head out. On our way out, I stopped and asked if I could get a refund and explained our situation. $28 is pretty steep for 30mins of a movie. The drive inn rep lady told me that I had gone over the 30min time limit in order to get my money back (I have no idea where this information is). I said that was fine and ask if I could get vouchers to come back. She said "we can't do vouchers because you went over the time limit". I showed her my receipt to to prove we didn't watch much of the movie. Our movie started at 8:55 and the time just after 9:30. I guess you can't even get vouchers with the iron clad, 30min time clause. Then she said was going off of the time I bought the ticket which was earlier. She went on to say I could've gotten there and watched the end of my movie, before they restarted it. Alluding to my car battery may have drained that way. I ask her why in the world I would watch the end of my movie ruining the whole thing. I explained to her we parked near the snack shack, used the restroom, bought snacks, then headed over to the screen. To that she said well, I have no proof. Then she condescendingly asked if I was really doing everything for my battery. Like restarting the car often or even just leaving the car running. I told her the engine was too loud to leave on. Not to mention the lights turned on every time. I guess I was the only one worried about the other customers enjoying the movie undisturbed. I was actually surprised at the accusatory disposition. I finally ask "you guys really aren't willing to do anything to help your customers". She said the only thing they would be willing to offer is to "jump my car" at the end of the night. Was I being punked? I guess the owner has never heard of something called customer retention. Too bad, because they could've made it right. read more

The first movie I ever remember seeing was here, back in 1992. On and off through my life, I've dropped into this theater, and I've watched new releases no fewer than 100 times. It's a huge lot where you park, turn on a radio, and watch a movie outdoors. The sound quality is not as good as it could be, but you're getting a double feature for around 7 bucks, so stop whining. Bring a beer. Have a smoke. Cuddle up in blankets, when weather permits. If you're anything like me, you'll be too busy stargazing to remember what the movie was about. Oh, and here are some protips: -Drive slowly: Lots of kids! During my last couple of hours on my random trip to Arizona, I had attended two Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants Game (Don't ask me why I attended this non-Dodger game), I was curious if Arizona had a drive-in theatre. With the help of Yelp, I found the WestWind Glendale 9 Drive-In Theatre. It was about 630pm when I used my Yelp App to find the WestWind Glendale 9 Drive-In Theatre. It was still bright outside, but the place was already open. I was one of the few people already entering in. I was greeted by one of the staff. Since I was the only person in the large vehicle, the lady didn't bother to inspect my truck for any other people unlike other locations. Admission is $6.75 per person. The lady told me a lot of people drive across Arizona to come to visit this drive-In theatre. This location is near an industrial area and railroad tracks, but not close to the movie theatre. During the weekends at noon, WestWind also serves as a Swap Meet. I wish I was there to experience that like my younger days. I saw some pamphlets that there are some concerts at the WestWind. With a huge lot, I wonder if this location host an event like Coachella! Since I've seen most of the movies already, I just wanted to experience the drive-in theatre. I watched, "The World's End" and "Two Guns" at Theatre 9. When I parked my truck, I parked it as I would park between the lanes while the other cars parked wherever. I think I may have blocked some views and spaces, but I was far away. Sorry! The quality of the sound and picture was OUTSTANDING! It was like I was at the movie theatre, but in my truck. With all the other people's radio out loud, the sound was spectacular and echoed throughout the lot. I wish I had my Dodger lawn chair and sit in front of my truck. While you wait for the 1st or next movie, you can head to concession area and grab some popcorn, drinks or ice cream. I grabbed a King Cone Ice Cream ($6.95) since it was really hot and it definitely hit the spot. I miss going to the concession stands, but do be careful when you walk during the dark. You might step on trash and slip. There are plenty of trash can bins and still don't understand why there are tons of trash. I have visited a couple of California's, Georgia's, and now Arizona's Drive-In Theatre. I think this is one of my new list to do in my life. If I see a drive-in theatre, then it is a must to do. Love that they have a great concession stand. Most drive in concessions suck. This one doesn't. Pretty dead for a Thursday night but that is what we wanted. Just to get out of the house. Bring a radio. Catch a double feature. Stop at the bathroom before you park or the walk could be pretty far when you really have to go. My mom, her bf, me, my husband, and my 7 and 5 year old plus my 1 year old went to the drive in theater for a double feature of the grinch, and Instant family. It was so much fun sitting in our trunk. My mom put a blow up mattress in her truck and even brought her dog. It was the most comfortable I've ever felt watching an out door movie. We absolutely love this place. It's 7.50 per person for a double feature and they always have a great selection of movies that you would find at any other traditional movie theatre. There is a concession stand with food, but we prefer to pack our own and have a little picnic in the car. I watched avatar and couldn't see anything because it was so dark and the quality was bad! The radio had bad static the whole movie and would switch to other music constantly. The movie was basically unwatchable and when I tried to get a refund they said it's been 30 minutes and I can't get one. Like the company was somehow worried I was ripping them off for their poor quality and my bad experience. I drove an hour to get here and I was very excited to go to a drive in movie.
