Ive been living in gold crossing for over 11 years now. Its been a safe and comfortable community to call home. The river is across the street lots of parks and schools to walk to. Most of us have been there for a long time and get along great. The manager and maintenance staff are nice and i never have had problem with them entering while I'm at work for repairs as long as i have my dog locked in his crate, everyone is happy. Really nice guys. The Manager is quick to help and resolve things that come up in a timely manner. You just have to talk with him . They are old buildings and things are just going to happen. I work full time-12 hour shifts and I am in school. Preferred method of communication is email so that we can once and for all resolve this. Thank you for your cooperation.*** Respectfully, you legally cannot evict me. The last couple of emails sent was of me telling you/keeping you informed of when it would be safe for me (physically and mentally) and my dogs (for their health) for you to enter the premises to then remove the covers without further exposing me and my animals further more. That is documentation of me complying with your request. And that was on April 10th (please see below email traffic). As soon as I knew, you knew Darlene. You had advanced notice and waited-literally- last minute to outright refuse to show up. I kept you informed every single step of the way. Please see below email traffic. Darlene-you didn't do your job and I'm tired of telling you this. You were uncooperative in communicating with me. You were made aware of my schedule of working full time and 12 hour shifts and yet you still handled a life threatening situation in such a disgraceful way. Again, this is mentioned in below email traffic. You left letters on my door that I could not respond to because when I returned home business hours were over. Hence the 12 hr shifts. That placed a delay in Communication and -again see below email traffic- I continuously informed you of this. You were non complicit of assisting me with relocating to a safer habitable place for me and my animals to stay. I understand the legality of placing the letter. But how about a follow up phone call/email to alleviate further health crisis. Inform me of what is going on to then be able to make plans accordingly. You blatantly ignored me. I asked for fair treatment, explanation/clarification and you were noncompliant throughout this whole ordeal. I have informed the property manager of my autoimmune disorder and the jeopardy this has placed my health in, my livelihood. Autoimmune diseases are also inflared/exacerbated by external stress. From the mycotoxins I was inhaling every single day and to the unnecessary stress this whole interaction with the property manager. My eyes are not fully healed at all and due to that, high ocular pressure continues to cut blood circulation off of the optical nerve. Continuing with permanent eye loss. I will gladly sit down with westcal and explain why mycotoxins correlate with my Bilateral eye damage. And of course with the appropriate medical documentation in support of. Essentially, with the unnecessary stress caused by the property manager and staff (who also caused severe harm to my dog during this ordeal) also contributed and continue to contribute to placing my health in jeopardy. I explained my working schedule that fell on deaf ears. My ability to pay bills was threatened because of the property management/staff inability to professionally communicate in a time sensitive manner. I explained my concerns with the property management about entering my home while my dogs and I were still there. It fell on deaf ears. I asked for equipment for safety and protection. It fell on deaf ears. I was forced to cover up the mold via tape and plastic-aka being forced to be exposed more so to mold. I did not have both AC units readily available and had also informed propert management of yet another uninhabitable situation right after the other. It fell on deaf ears. The property manager did not offer to rehome me and my animals like it is required for her to do. This is in the property manager's duty description to ensure a safe, habitable living space. In fact, the property manager didn't start responding to my communication until I started cc'ing info@westcal.net. That was the only way I could get a response from her. The unprofessionalism westcal has allowed this regional property manager to display jeopardized my livelihood time and time again. My health. My life. This is shameful behavior. But took the property manager took the time to remove stated email above from the cc line when she finally did respond to me. Again, please see below email to verify. But your property manager is right. It still does need to be fixed. According to the CDC, those who are severely allergic to molds (me) treatment is not good enough. CDC recommends physical removal of the areas where the mold resided. So my question is, (WESTCAL Rep.) where am I and my dogs staying (and not in another apartment) for you to handle the situation in a timely manner? So that you can then remove both ac units and all three windows for them to be replaced? And maybe the WESTCAL Rep. can explain to me why I was not notified of still being exposed to black mold even after I had paid (by myself) for treatment? Where do I start? Management send notices they do not enforce. This place has gone to hell. The laundry room stays dirty. The washers are old and always broken. They spent money on a new security door, which is always open. Loud music from cars and tenants. Loitering in the parking lot. The grounds are dark and creepy. Neighbors drunk and arguing outside. Mailboxes repeatedly broken into. Homeless people in different areas of the complex. Never informed when contractors are working on the ground or buildings. Tenants stacked in units. Five children and two adults in a 2 bedroom? Questionable activities. Like shingles, management doesn't care. As long as rent is being paid. Don't expect any upgrades here. I was given a "regional director " to work with, Christina Dobrescu, and she never stopped complaining that I had to do whatever the task was faster and perfectly, after only 2days worth of training. she outright told us that if we made a mistake we could get fired. she was rude and pushy and made my life a living hell. they don't train enough, and they just put you on-site with little to no help. the owner/senior manager in the office is cruel and unprofessional. don't work here, there are much better management jobs out there read more

I love the company overall. I've lived at Modesto and Sacramento facilities. Although the process is typically the same when applying to other companies, I feel like staying within this company made my process smoother. Staying within this company I knew that I would receive quality no matter which facility I chose. My favorite is faculty so far is Sandpiper. Honestly it's not being of the property it's because of the excellent customer service skills. Diana is the sweet and most caring person. She makes it feel more like a community. Worst management! In the future I will be making sure this business does not "manage" any properties prior to lease. It will take several attempts of contact to have anything done. This business requires renters Insurance for residences in which they will tell you to contact for their mistakes!!!! They make a profit from pulling in many third parties business to nickel and dime you instead of them putting in any work. They do not take pride in their work and it the most unreliable people. They will make changes their first week such as putting tow stickers on car in the beginning of the pandemic and wildfire season due to car being dirty. You will regret renting here! The "remodel" takes precedent over resident housing & safety issues. I have reported WestCal Mgmt, McClennan Court Apartments & Freedom Park Apartments to Health & Safety Code Violations multiple times. Check the current status of COCKROACH & BEDBUG INFESTATIONS if you think you want to live in this "project".. Cockroaches will go in your ears and mouth... Serious electrical issues that are addressed haphazardly, at best. Sewer & water are ridiculously high, and they will NOT provide an itemization. It takes nearly a bathtub full of water to even get warm water. My neighbor blows the circuit breaker when he uses his oven. That's dangerous after multiple resets, and as they continue to remodel, they knowingly exasperate a serious potential electrical consequence. I lost 2 caregivers because they were so freaked by the COCKROACHES. Last weekend, I slipped at 5 am when the upstairs "remodel" resulted in over a gallon of water in my overhead fluorescent light with 2 BIG COCKROACHES FLOATING in it & dripping on me. After 10 days without heat & no response, I had PG&E come out for a pilot light check. He found pilot light was jammed shut and the stove adapter is stacked BUT no leak (yet). They keep coming in like they are going to fix stuff, but I just end up with dirty floors and bewilderment at the stupidity. I spent 4 days without warm water while they "fixed" the boiler. Don't be deceived by the inner courtyard - if you have children. I have a video where you can hear the children playing & see the flying COCKROACH MATTRESSES & DEBRIS in the air landing IN FRONT OF MY SCREENDOOR despite multiple calls; along with, a metal brace with rusting nails sticking out of it for HOURS despite my calls. The children kept playing. Then, they worked overhead 3 of the 4 days during the Thanksgiving Day holiday. And then, while I lay sick in bed, put the COCKROACH LADEN CARPET PAD PERFECTLY AGAINST MY BEDROOM WINDOW. They are now cockroaches in my bedroom, where they were NOT before. I have 24 traps, labeled so I can protect myself. The diseases......There are NO exhaust fans. How do we, as a community, help these types of companies understand these despicable business practices need to be discontinued immediately? We need to continue to broadcast the issues without bias, with transparency, accurately and timely. WestCal will bury themselves with their own actions. Past performance is a very good indicator of future performance. I am currently researching the personal and financial liability exposure of managers with westcal management. I don't know how else to get any action from them so that I can begin to have a quality of life that has been missing since the day I moved in. read more

I've been staying in marigold ln for going on 3 years now and I've never had any issues. Management has been extremely great always on top of things. Maintenance has been well as well anytime I needed anything they always came and always in good spirits extremely friendly and always willing to help. Our apartments have been out of hot water for over 24 hours & when I call the 24 hour number given to us for these situations, to see what they're doing to resolve it, the receptionist was incredibly rude & hung up on me twice. They're raising the rent with no new amenities whatsoever & there is no presence or help from the property management at all. This is in-humane & we've had nothing but problems since this company has taken over these apartments. read more

I rented an apartment in Folsom, CA 5-6 years ago that was sold and then changed property management companies to Westcal shortly after I moved in. The owners of the apartments next door dropped Westcal and suddenly improvements were being made. Westcal's district(?) manager did mold inspections and when asked, couldn't state what laws allowed them. Their apartment manager told me I couldn't use citrus based cleaners 'because they are too sweet'. Children were not allowed to play outside and BBQ's weren't allowed. I just looked at Westcal's website and the district(?) manager doesn't appear to be there anymore. Perhaps they're a better company now. Ha! read more

I have always valued the work that the Westcal staff has done for our community. The management is good spirited and professional. The maintenance staff is clean, time oriented and always gets the job done. The workers seem to really like their job and each other. When I had a problem with the plumbing in my bathroom the man who came was very respectful of my home and even worked over a holiday weekend to ensure that I was able to have what I needed. I don't trust some of these other comments, people can complain but Westcal always pulls through. read more

The head of the Human Resources Department is very supportive and quickly responsive to all of our needs. WestCal used to manage an apartment building in College Greens. Because of their maintenance employees lack of knowledge nothing got repaired properly, only sabotaged. Last summer when we had over 100degree temps I know about someone's AC that went on the fritz on Friday an hour after office closed on three day weekend. The manager (a week later) finally had to call in someone from outside the network to do the repairs on the AC. The AC unit had just been replaced the year before they moved in to the apartment. This gentleman informed the tenant that the unit had been tampered with, then showed them the proof. The roof never got repaired from the fire 3 years ago, and 53 families were very close to becoming displaced because WestCal didn't maintain the property in any manner that would be considered professional. I can't even tell you how many code violations there are. They made a decision at some point to no longer accept Section8 and several tenants were given notice to move. There is still one remaining S8 tenant. This company is dirty.. stay as far away as you can. Thankfully the owner sold it to a company that is correcting these problems and taking care of the code violations. read more

I've resided at a Westcal complex for about a year and a half now. The employee that's reviewing this company is full of it. Especially in regards to Cristina. She is rude, belittling, and a down right tyrant to her staff and residents. Don't try contacting them with any complaints or repairs. They'll go unanswered and ignored. And while they're ignoring your requests, they'll raise your rent almost $200. Got to keep the rent at market value, even if the service sucks, you know? Oh, and the pool was a swamp this summer. I have had an atrocious experience with the manager at my previous residence, (the hidden place apartments), and upon trying to come to a resolve, I couldn't get ahold of a single person at this company. I sent letters, left voicemails, and sent emails through their website; and have yet to recieve a response. Even after informing them that their employee, the manager Martha, had been threating and extremely hostile towards me and my mom, they have still ignored every effort I have made. Unless you want to take time out of your life to bring them to small claims court after they lie to steal your deposit, I wouldn't risk moving into any of their many locations. read more

Let me start by saying I'm not a yelper. This management company and their apartment employees are a joke. I have lived at one of their properties for two years. We have been through 5 managers and every time we get a new one it gets worse! Our manager is literally never in the office unless it's the first to collect rent. So if you have an issue good luck! We had a wasps nest that took them 1 year to take care of, parking is horrible (people park wherever they feel whether it's covered or uncovered). Currently we have been without a microwave for over a month. Residents fight and scream at each other outside. I can go on for hours. They literally make you live like this cause you can't get anything done or get ahold of someone. I have called corporate numerous times to try to get ahold of someone and the woman is extremely rude and talks over you and just tells you that if you want to make a complaint go online. I gave this place (The Village Apartments, Fair Oaks) a very good rating on my last review. I no longer feel that way. I feel this is a dangerous place to live. Often, during late at night, there are fights and people yelling at each other. I entered the office the other day and I felt I was set up by the new manager. I wrote a fair review (my first review) and this didn't set well with one of the residents. While is the office this person called me a prick, and get this, the manager wanted me to apologize to this person, all due to my review. I didn't call this person any names and tried to have a conversation, to no avail. I believe this manager is not well suited for her job. My biggest fear is something bad is about to happen. The units are old and you guys charge us? Wow Every time we ever asked a question about anything the answer was always it's corporate decision. So it seems when you guys took over it's all about money. Darlene finds every witch way to charge everyone for anything and she's able to do it because you guys are getting bigger pockets.
