We found this restaurant by accident and are so glad we did. The food is phenomenal and so much of it! We started with a bowl, not a cup of Beef Goulash. It was a meal in itself. I brought the remainder home and we ate it twice. Delicious. Moved on to the Breaded Pork Chops with Bread Dumplings and Cucumber Salad made with vinegar and it too was delicious. Again brought a bunch home with extra gravy and had another 2 meals. SIL also had a stuffed cabbage and loved it! You also get a dessert to finish the meal. Everyone liked the taste of the food they ordered. Chicken, schnitzel, breaded, pork tenderloin, and roast pork. My wife LOVED the cucumber salad that came as her desert. The Kolosky was very tasty also. I was very disappointed that the potato dumplings were not ready considering we arrived at 1:45 PM. I just don't understand this. The gravy was also a little on the weaker side however, the gravy they gave us to take home was thicker and had more flavor. I will give this another try. I will not be going back to that place again. First of all the guy at the cash register asked me "how many" and I told him 4 to 6 persons. Then he told me he needs to know exactly, because it's a small cramped place. Then he said I had to wait. He didnt even offer me one of the tables that could accompany my party that was comin in 5 minutes. During that time of waiting I counted 3 tables being used and there was about 6 tables empty. Then when we finally got seated and ordered. I ordered a bowl of liver dumpling soup and then the waitress told me I needed to pay an extra 3 dollars extra for that bowl of soup that cost about $4.50 to begin with cuz dat was their rule. And lastly the soup wasn't thst good anyway. So save yourself grief and find a better place to spend your hard earned money because they dont apparently need because of their exorbitant prices. Hugh portions of generally good reasonable priced food. We tend to get the breaded pork tenderloin and roast duck dinners. Servings are generous. Service is fast with minimal conversation. I saw this place listed on the pork tenderloin Facebook group and put it on the list for when we would be out in the burbs. Wow. This is just like the classic bohemian restaurants that have all disappeared. From the huge pork tenderloin to the bbq ribs to the bread dumplings and liver dumpling soup, it's all there. The only two things that were a bit weird were the kolatchke (more like a roll with jelly in the middle) and the gravy (too watery). Be warned, if you go here with kids or someone who doesn't want an entree, they will charge you $3 per person who doesn't order an entree. Different from a "shared plate" fee (which they also charge). Even if you order sides for them. Such a SCAM! Also, they are ALWAYS running out of desserts which are included in the price. Good management would recognize they need to order or make more. Management was zero help when I tried speaking with them. A restaurant with good customer service would have, at a minimum, offered to waive the fee as a one- time courtesy and clarify the policy for next time but they don't have good customer service. Came here with a friend who grew up eating Bohemian food. They seemed very happy and it was cute to see them reminisce with each bite over their childhood and meals at Grandma's. The food is hearty and plentiful but I didn't get the same wow effect with my dish despite it, Roast Pork Grandma's Style, being a house favorite. The meat, though fork tender, was dry and lacking in flavor. It could have used tons more of the caramelized onions it came with and gravy. About the gravy. It's another housed toted specialty and they serve a boat of it for the table but alas I found it thin and flavorless. To be fair my friend's dish, Svikova, was more interesting and truly tasteful. With a bit more salt and spice in all their items including the soup, dumplings and salad, the food could really elevate what should be a deeply satisfying experience. I normally am overjoyed with the quality and quantity of food that I receive whenever I go to the Westchester Inn. Today, I left a bit disappointed and a little hungry. I ordered what I assumed to be the large portion roast beef dinner, and I was charged the large portion price of $22.75. What I received was four modest-sized slices of beef, and smaller than normal scoops of mashed potatoes. I also noticed that the bread I received with the soup was sliced thinner than usual. I am wondering if the portion I got was actually a small portion, or if portion sizes had been cut down. Meal comes with dessert, the strawberry kolacky was very good but more cake like than pastry that I'm used to. I came back for the first time since then with my parents and had a nice experience. The Westchester Inn is tucked away inside of a strip mall so it's pretty deceiving. The interior has wood paneled walls, plenty of seating, and just overall an old timey and cozy feel to it. The service is great, and it blows my mind that every entree comes with two sides and a dessert included in the already fair pricing structure. I opted for the beef soup which I just thought was ok, it was a little bland but it wasn't horrible, and the 1/4 breast portion of the islander duck with sauerkraut and dumplings. Like I said before, the portions are huge, everything was cooked well and was very tasty. The gravy was good but a little waterier than what I'm used to/was expecting. My mom always raves about the breaded pork tenderloin so she had that and loved it, and my dad has the roast pork with the cucumber salad which was awesome. I wish I would've opted for the cucumber salad instead of the sauerkraut (it was good, it was just a sweeter sauerkraut and I prefer more of the tangy kind). For dessert I had the blueberry coffee cake which was fine, but I can't really complain since the dessert came with the meal. Overall, the Westchester Inn is a great place to come to for a quality comfort meal with huge portions and fair pricing. I suggest coming early for dinner because this place gets packed. read more

the worst part of our experience was the service. They really don't care. Granted, it was PACKED- but we've been sitting there for 15 minutes with water and bread, but no service. We've asked 2 workers where our server was, and they just shrugged there shoulders and said idk. Finally our server came. She was kind ig but didn't really check up on us often, ask she practically ignored us while we were seated. One of the people working there spilt soup on my uncle lol... I don't think they saw though cause they didn't apologize. As for food, it was OK... I had meat pierogi which was very doughy. Cucumber salad was very good. Pork tenderloin was also pretty good. the liver soup or beef noodle soup were meh. Dumplings were fine. The place wasn't that clean either, the seats were pretty dusty. The sun was beaming on me so I closed the curtain and the string fell off. It was attached to a clip so it probably fell off often- thankfully the server fixed it. read more

Westchester inn is a long time favorite of my wife and in-laws. They serve bohemian food, which used to be big in the area. These days I think it is the only one left. The food is simple, tasty and large servings for the price. Breaded pork tenderloin, roast pork, roast duck are all favorites. Weiner schnitzel, chicken schnitzel and especially smoked butt are excellent. Sides include mashed or boiled potatoes, dumplings, saurkraut, cabbage. They have good soup. Beef noodle is our usual, but you can be daring and get liver dumpling. And don't forget the brown gravy! Desserts are good. I enjoy the kolachkes, but the apple strudel is amazing if they have any left. Go early to beat the blue hairs! read more

Nothing fancy about this place, but boy is the food and service great! The restaurant is small and they close fairly early. I have been coming here for years! My favorite thing is the half roasted pork and breaded tenderloin. It comes with soup, dumplings and either sauerkraut or red cabbage. The tenderloin is as big as the plate.
