I have been using Western for many years for a flea problem that occurred after a new owner moved into the townhouse next door with two dogs. Miguel Zuleta a technician for Western called to confirm the time he would be over the next day. He came at the appointed time took care of the problem including removing a small pile of leaves next to the fence separating our backyards. I'm currently having a problem with Ron, our service technician. I asked that several rooms be sprayed for spiders. He said they have to set traps first to see what chemical to use and what type of spiders they are. He brought the traps and placed them in the rooms. He instructed me to call in a few days and he'd come back to retrieve them. He said, if I wanted, I could just put the traps in a plastic bag and hang it on the front - he'd stop by and get it. I called several days later - left message - no return call. I then put the traps in a bag and hung on front door. Several days later, it was gone. I called the following week to get the results - left message. Following week, Ron called with an attitude wanting to know about the traps. I told him they were placed in bag as he instructed. His manner changed immediately - became civil - said ,"oh, it's being tested" and he'd get back to me with results. That was THREE WEEKS AGO. I have been with this company for a little over six years. I have no problem for the first three years. The technician usually called before the service. But on the fourth year, they keep changing technician. Some technician never called and just inserted a service slip in my mail box. I have no proof if the technician really did the service. The company will then send the bill by mail and I'll just go ahead and pay them through my bank bill pay. The service is usually every quarter. Last year, I installed a 24 hour outdoor cameras both front side and back. Last quarter around February, I got a bill in my email for $98+ for the service which they claimed they performed on that same day I received the email. I checked my 24 hours nest outdoor camera and see no one shows up to do the service, beside, my gate were all locked up and I have a big guard dog. When he barked, it will trigger the camera to send alert to my iPhone. I spent almost an hour viewing all the clips from the camera but really cannot find anyone break into my gate to spray. I called the company and they were apologetic and promised to send the technician the next day which they did but I have to take off work for that to happened. Three months had passed, just three days ago 5/20/2019, I received another bill from my email. This time the bill was for $101.00 for the service that never happened. Again, I called the company, (you can only speak to the call center reps) but they insisted that they sprayed the perimeters. I said How? Spray my neighbor and the side walk? My gates are all locked. It's impossible for anyone to get in and beside my guard dog will be barking like crazy that will trigger my alarm and cameras. I dispute the payment and request to cancel my contract with them. It took almost three days to finally send the email to me. For anybody like me who has high blood pressure and senior citizen, I recommend to stay away from this company otherwise they can kill you with stress!!! Stay away with this company. I thought I was doing my due diligence when I started searching for a termite extermination company. Since I had seen the trucks of the larger companies around the area for years I figured they would be a good place to start. I made a couple appointments. The first, with another well known company. I was given a Hard Sell with them and encouraged to book a date for tenting with the provision I could cancel if I found another company to go with. That company proved a disaster as I "e-Signed" with them and was never sent my contract by e-mail and they actually charged my credit card! You can find that review under Terminix. However, I believe the information is relevent here since when I called Western Exterminator and the Sales Rep. came out he had a quite different approach. He had a softer sell and was in no rush to explain things and put me at ease with all my questions. He explained what we needed to do to prepare the house for tenting and he said it was no problem if I wanted to interview other companies before making a decision. Like the first company I could book to hold a date and then cancel if I wanted to. This made sense to me as I am sure the crews that set up the tents book several houses in a day. I liked the fact that Western didn't try to sell me a lot of other services I didn't ask for. We went over the contract line by line and I asked about the security on the house while it was under the tent. He said the tenters would put dowels in our sliding windows to prevent burglars from getting in during the airing out process. He also assured us that there had not been any break-ins in our area since 2010. He did mention that if we lived in Compton they would tell their clients that they would be broken into. Again, he assured us it was not a problem in Redondo Beach. He said he would be there on the date we booked to make sure everything went as planned. We were lulled into a false sense of security, so we went with Western! Preparing the house for tenting was extremely time consuming. Double bagging everything took much more time then I ever imagined it would. On the day of tenting we were finishing up the prep work (and the gas company had turned off the gas) when the tenters came to the door. The Western Sales Rep. I made the aggreement with never showed up. Your Way Fumigation Inc. (located in Murietta, CA) came to do the tenting and the supervisor said he would handle everything. I walked him through the house and talked about having some dowels of our own on some of the windows fully expecting them to have the rest. He asked for the keys to the house and garage. The men had already started dropping the tent sections onto the house.We were basically push out of the house. We handed over our keys and security to people we had never met. During the next two nights we stayed at a local hotel and came back to the house to check on it twice. The first night my husband did a walk around the perimeter and everything seemed undisturbed. The second night we needed to take the trash barrels to the curb and my husband and son did another walk around. The small vents in the back, by the deck, had been rolled up, to indicate the airing out process had begun. Everything look OK. The next day we received a text from a next door neighbor saying the police were all over our house. We rushed home to find the house burglarized! The tenting company called the police after they found the house ransacked when they took the tent down. There was no forced entry into the house. The windows had not been secured, at all. All it took was a thief knowing the signs when the airing out process began, a gas mask, and an open window. Several rooms were torn apart looking for cash and jewelry. We had taken most everything with us, but had two fire safes the thieves walked right out of the house with, that contained personal papers and some family heirlooms. I would imagine if we did not have the safes they would have done a lot more damage tearing up the house looking harder for things. The police spent a good deal of time dusting for fingerprints. Their recommendation was to write this review on yelp to warn others that despite what the rep. told us this is a big problem with home tenting for termites. On the "From the business" article Western has placed on this page it states "If you're not happy, you don't pay." We are not happy! The consumer needs to demand that exterminating companies provide security to furnished houses during the exterminating process! Would you hand the keys to your car to a stranger and sign a contract relieving them from all responsiblility? Don't let this happen to you! read more

I was initially very pleased with the inspection Andy provided. He answered all questions and shared a lot of information about termites/rodent proofing that I was unaware of. Unfortunately the quote came out to about $17K with re-insulation of our attic (that was recommended by Andy)--which was quite a bit much to handle all at once. We decided to get a second opinion (as anyone else would do before shelling out $17K), and were told that our attic did not need to be re-insulated by 2 other pest & termite companies and inspectors, so we decided to go with a different company for the termite & pest control. The one star is for the snarky response I received from Andy after I politely thanked him for his services but informed him that we decided to go with a different company to perform the services. What was an initially great experience turned into a sour one. One star--definitely get a different estimate from someone else or hire a different company. read more

I selected Western Exterminators because they were a well established company. But my experience was that they did a cursory inspection of the external portion of my home, never checked the eaves or under the house. Set a trap in my attic and kitchen. Caught one rat and two mice for $300.00. I had to deal with the expiring mice (horrible, I had to drown them) because it was the weekend ???!!! They did remove the one rat from the attic and said they could sanitize the attic for an additional $1,100.00. I subsequently went to another company, JJ's Rodent Proofing (626) 454-0087 who saved the day. MY ADVISE IS TO NEVER CALL WESTERN EXTERMINATORS. read more

On May 11 an inspector checked for termites, and after pestering them (6 phone calls) for an appointment to exterminate them, I finally get an appoint for 7:00 AM today, June 10th. I called the exterminator at 7:30 - he hasn't called me back. I called the Western Exterminator office at 7:40, but they couldn't get a hold of the exterminator. It's almost 8:00 and no one has showed up AND no one has called me. If I had to pay for this (and not my association), I would cancel and find another, hopefully, more reliable company. read more

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!! As the result of a rodent infestation in May 2018, I enrolled in your Pest Free Annual Maintenance Plan, HomeOwner Protection Plan, that included Drywood Termites and Misc. Services specifically Rodents and purchased five bait stations at a cost of $25 each with the assurance from Hugo that I would be given a key to the bait stations. Total outlay thus far over $500!! So last Monday the guy shows up while I am at home - I am usually at work when they call. I asked for a key to the bait stations and he obliged. He then got in his truck and left without even as much as an inspection (so he did not notice the termite droppings) at the back of the house. So I took the key and opened all the bait stations to fine they were all EMPTY and appeared not to have been baited for some time!! I called the office to discuss, asked for a manager and was told I would get a call back. Have not heard from any one this past week. My next call was to the credit card company to cancel any future charges by Western Exterminator Company. I am so done with you guys - a bunch of fraudsters taking advantage of the fact that I am not home when you deliver your non-service. Oh and they missed the month of July!! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We were set to have our house tented before we left on a cruise. They told us that they would be here at 12:30pm, then called the day of and told us that they would be here at 11am. We were rushed out of our house while watching a man open all our drawers and cabinets. Not the problem. When we were set to return 3 days later, they told us that they would be done at 12pm. We drove by at 11:45 and no one had even started the process yet. While we were down the street waiting, we received a call from the supervisor that our home had been broken into. We rushed over and the workers literally paid no attention to us whatsoever. Didn't explain anything, didn't show any sympathy, nothing. We never even received a follow up call for what happened. Although we don't want to point fingers, this company should probably do some thorough background checks on their employees because it seems like it was an inside job. read more

The worst customer service that I've ever experienced. Been with them since 2014 on their bimonthly program, but been having pest issues for the past 6 months. I called them on 5 different occasions about spiders and each time they made up a story, until I was told that's due to weather and they can't eliminate 100% . The time I signed up with them, I was told that they'll take care of all my pest issues, but I guess things have changed. I received an invoice for $79.00 when the serviceman never showed. The agreement that I had with them was to call me a day in advance in order to have someone open the door for him, but according to him he called, but didn't bother to leave a message. I called their customer service line to cancel my bimonthly agreement and after being on the phone for 16 minutes, the lady told me that I was calling a answering service!! The company is advertising on numerous radio stations about their great service, but can't afford a call center!! Really?? read more
