I am a realtor and in the distant past I used this company in my business. When I needed work done at my home I called them. They sold me an expensive pest control package and then came out once and never reported back to me. Today, they failed to show up at my home, and I had arranged to stay home from work and let them in. They never showed up or called. Recently, this company has changed...there customer service is non responsive, they are expensive, and they make dealing with them as a company next to impossible. I have been trying to cancel my service and I have been on hold for 3-4 hours...they keep booting me off...finally i got a hold of someone and told them i wanted to cancel and they told me they couldn't do that and they transferred me to another person. I don't ever do this, but our interactions with Western have been horrible. After the original service, which we later found out left a huge gap in what was supposed to be the "exclusion" service for which we paid close to $4000, allowing rodents to still access our space, we went on a roller coaster ride of phone calls with multiple departments who each told us something different, appointments with different technicians who all said something different, missed appointments, hours on hold. Six months later, we tried to cancel the "monthly service" that was never described to us and wasn't something we really needed, and are still waiting on proof that this service was cancelled. Absolutely horrible corporate exterminator (with some nice people working for them.) Dealing with them reminded me of the reverse mortgage shell company that tried to foreclose on my elderly parents. Started service in late 2024. Setting up service worked well and monthly services were going well for 3-4 months. Then they stopped showing up to provide service with no proof of their visits. No reply to multiple emails or phone calls asking for verification of service dates. Phone help is a generic national type switchboard, not contacting local office. Horrible company. They don't return calls, and they are totally disorganized. Turns out the sales guy gave us incorrect information about the treatment - service tech said treatment would not work. We asked to thus have our contract cancelled, but they billed us for $338 anyway. Unbelievable. I have called countless times to get it resolved, and they keep passing the buck to someone else in the company. Even before this, they said they would call to set up the service, and never did. Horrible and ineffective service: Western Exterminator provided quarterly service at my rental property in Santa Clara for the last few years. When our rodent problems became severe I paid for expensive special treatments. They did not catch a single rodent as the infestation continued to get worse. Technicians were often no shows or late for most treatments. One technician made inappropriate comments about my tenant's son. I had made three appointments to meet with a whole home inspector that required me to be present. After an hour drive to meet them, the inspector was a no show to all three appointments. I made nine phone calls to discuss the poor service and did not get a single return call as promised by their call center. read more

I would not recommend this business for rodent exclusion. We used them for termite treatment and they did a good job, so we hired them for rodent exclusion work. The work they did for rodent exclusion was expensive (we paid thousands of dollars), ineffective and unprofessional. They used hammers to 'reshape' the trim of the door in our garage (instead of replacing the trim, which is what I would have expected for the amount of money they were charging). Instead of replacing the mesh vents along the exterior walls of our home, they used caulk & wire mesh to 'repair' several very badly damaged vents along the bottom exterior walls of our house - the result was horrendous looking. The trapdoor leading to the subarea of our home should have been replaced, but instead they used scrap wood to try to 'repair' it - the result still left large gaps where rodents could get in, and continued to get in. They promised to set about a dozen traps both inside the subarea of our home, garage and attic, and they set only a few which were ineffective because we started to see evidence of rodents in our home. We called within 48 hours of them completing the job to ask someone else come to the home to reinspect and redo the work. No one called back. We called again and again and again with no response. When they finally did send us our bill, they immediately marked it 'past due,' we suspect, in an effort to bully us into paying asap since we were already raising questions about the work. So, we set our own traps and went back and redid the work we had already paid them to do.... and solved the issues ourselves. Do not waste your money by hiring this business. Their goal appears to be to charge as much they can while spending as little as they can to do unprofessional and shoddy work. Their customer service is horrible. We have used this company for years for our recurring residential extermination services. Recently, we came home to an ant infestation. I called Western Exterminators to come out and spray for the ants. I was told that they discontinued our service 2 months ago because they thought we moved. Their technician told them we moved even though there is still furniture in the house. We were gone for about 6 weeks but our service was always automatically paid by credit card. I told them we did not want the service discontinued and that we need to have someone come spray for our ant problem. I called twice in 2 days about it and was told someone would get back to us. Someone finally called yesterday from Connecticut, the other side of the country. By the time they got back to us, we had already called another company and the problem was taken care of. read more

Unfortunately no option for zero stars. I have dealt with technicians at this company who have been amazing. However, it is not within their power to address problems. The "management team" will not return your phone calls and if you do have a problem (I have had many since having them do a rat exclusion) they will do everything they can to make it sound like YOUR fault. Their guarantee, though sounding good means nothing to them and they will cite exemptions that were not disclosed and refuse to help. If you are considering them -- DON'T !! Here are my complaints. You be the judge. The manager at Western Exterminator said everything they did was A-ok. "Here it is, my complaints. Two Corned beef missing from freezer. Mark had Two Bags of items from my house, looked like groceries. He said they didn't fit???? Found husband's pain pills in a bag with food. Why did they not talk to me so I could get them? Why did they handle controlled medication at all, and who knows if some are missing because I had a stock for my husband who is severely disabled. Why did they drag my refrigerator and freezer out onto the driveway without my permission and then tell me they planned on leaving it in the driveway while we were gone??? Seriously?? Full of food and the chance of it being gone by the time we came home. The most ridiculous thinking I've ever heard. What kind of thought process was that? Then, he says he could bag the food for me. Why didn't he do that in the beginning before moving my freezer and side by side. Then, the items that were on top of the refrigerator, they did not put back on top but left them on the ground. I am severely disabled. This did not help me at all. Why did they put my persimmons on the bottom of a bag and then put packaged food on top. Of course, they were ruined, at a$1 a persimmon. Before anybody moves your customers furniture or any items, or takes even a kernel out of their houses, they need to get permission. They can't just take it upon themselves to take anything from my house, nothing!! Mark was supposed to be at my house at 9am, showed up at 11am. He told me the tenters were going to be later in the afternoon. They weren't, they showed up not long after Mark got to my house, and I had a lot of food to bag. Needless to say, it was a very stressful day for me which I cannot handle stress. I have been really sick ever since my son died, I have ptsd, and stress affects me really bad." If I could rate a ZERO I would.Giving them any stars is like giving a restaurant a star for getting food posioning and ending up in the hospital. My wife and I are in our 80s and got charged $6600 to get rid of rats.We were getting bit every night by somthing and no matter what precautions we took it continued.Mike Bowler[works on comission I was told] came out and said we had a rat problem and the bites were from rat mites.Bottom line 4 mouse traps were laid in the crawlspace beneath our house and NO RATS.The other work they did could have been done for $50 from a guy on the street corner and he would have done a better job.No follow up by a manager.If there ever was an example of financial eleder abuse this is it. I'm very disappointed. Western Exterminators performed exclusion work on our tenant's home a month ago. A few weeks later, I noticed debris again showing up on one of the spots that they had addressed. I contacted the person who lined up the work and left him a detailed phone message, asking that they repeat the work here. But I did not receive any word back. After waiting 10 days without any response, I called the toll free number and contacted someone to push the issue forward. The person who answered started working on the complaint, and then put me on hold as they supposedly tried to verify the address. After 5 minutes on hold, they never returned so I hung up and tried again. The second individual ended up ALSO putting me on hold. I waited 15 minutes before giving up. There is no e-mail to contact, no place on their website to note a problem. All they appear to be interested in is their next job, not following up on their guarantee of real exclusion. I am tempted to have my credit card retract the payment I made to them. Maybe this complaint will FINALLY get some action...... read more

If I could leave a 0 I would. I had an appointment 8-12. I called at 10:55 and was told "it's still morning", I called back at 2:10 and was told "they said they would call you before arriving" I called back at 4:15 and was told "I don't see an appointment, OH it was rescheduled for Tuesday" WHAT! No CALL, NO SHOW! Then told rescheduled with no apology at all! Then I received call from my Tech. (Jose very personable) about an hour later. He did apologize, and stated there's lots of changes, Terminix and Western Ext. Just merged. So he then assured me things will be handle, he would make a call to the inspector (Ruben) and I received a call from Ruben 1/2 hour later he to was very personable and apologetic, assured me he would personally take care of it the next day, he stated "I have a 10 am appointment, can I come to you before at 8 am" Yes I said that will be great, thank you. 8 o'clock am NO SHOW NO CALL at 8:20 I then call his number, he did not answer, so I sent a text and no response! I guess when a company gets to big, and monopolizes a space, they can treat you badly and say To Hell with CUSTOMER SERVICE BAD BUSINESS! read more

I rarely give 1 stars to businesses, but Western Exterminator definitely left me feeling cheated. Customer Service: 1 star. Setting everything up was easy, but after that, communication was poor and I was always directed to a 1-800 number that led to nowhere or told to contact my local representative who I didn't know. I would always have to email or call several times before getting a hold of someone. Service: 1 star. I had gotten the exterior perimeter of my house sprayed a couple times which seemed to have solved the issues temporarily, but the issues always came back. Western Exterminator claims that my home would probably be a recurring treatment type of home. They also sprayed some bait chemical inside my home without any real permanent result. Don't waste your time with Western Exterminator. Good thing I watch my bills carefully and was able to get some of my money back after some firm and lengthy phone calls and communication with some of the employees. I did my own DIY treatment which seems to have solved the issue better than the professionals. read more

Two years later I received a $336 invoice from GB Collection Service. No one from Western Exterminator has been at my residence since initial service. The services advisor was bery knowledgeable, friendly and professional, but I shpuld not be paying $4000 for services I dont really need from someone who is friendly. These owners of the duplex that I rent hired this company to come and do rodent treatment after the neighbor complained about hearing them in the walls. Jason was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done and the cost. I'm not certain the owners will have professionals do the rodent proofing , but I have to say that Jason was on time all three times he came, he set traps (not in the walls, because well, that's not possible), and explained that there's a lot more to ending this problem than traps. The rodents are not getting in the walls from where the sump pump is or in the attic. Great education on what needs to be done, very professional!! read more

Even called for confirmation of my last appointment and although it was confirmed by phone the afternoon of the scheduled service no one showed up. When I called at 5:00PM that day customer service had the nerve to say that there was no appointment scheduled. Worst customer service ever!!! I do not recommend this company. The only reason I called them is because this is, unfortunately, who my HOA uses. I called 2 days ago due to an ant infestation in my home. I spoke to Tanesha who could provide zero of the most basic information such as how long we'd need to leave the home with our animals when the service is being provided. Forget about whether or not the chemicals were toxic to pets, again, she had no info on that either. I asked for a Manager or serviceman call me back with that info. She kept me on the phone a long time, putting me on hold. Finally, she said someone would call back. 2 days later, no return call. So today, I called again and spoke to Steve. Again, he could not even provide the most basic of information. He was unable to pull up our HOA even with the name, address, and main phone #. He also became quite rude when I told him I needed to go and could someone who had basic information just call me back. There was no apology for the fact that it was 2 days ago when I first called for info. I will be contacting another company for our inside service. And I have let our HOA know about the awful service from this company. I can see why they have bad reviews. read more

I used Hitmen in Sonoma for years. They were awesome. Western Exterminator purchased them and service has done nothing but go downhill. Service people do not show up, no calls, no emails, just no shows. Twice in 2 days now, and has happened previously. Then they rescheduled without my knowledge (I see others have had that problem also.) They also came the last time to do the exterior service, but as it was raining, only did half a job. I inquired twice about a partial refund, but have not had an answer on that either.I have never had a problem with the service people who do their best, but their management leaves a lot to be desired. This has to be the worst company in the country. Don't waste your money like I did. It used to be a 5 star local company, but after a corporate buyout by Rentokil, things have gone downhill fast. I hired them 3 years ago for a rat infestation, paid a huge amout which was supposed to guarantee that they would get rid of the rats, but they are still here. They have only sent someone out to do exclusion work twice in the past 3 years. There is no way to reach a local manager or technician because all calls are directed to a central office which can be located anywhere in the country. It is nearly impossible to get any work scheduled through the central office, and if a technician does by chance show up, they haven't been informed about what job they are supposed to do. read more

I was in a desperate spot yesterday when I called this company, I'm dealing with fleas in my yard and they are now in my home. I called and spoke with Rosie and she was extremely caring and friendly on the phone, I was blown away with her customer service and empathy she expressed to me that I asked when was the quickest they could get someone over here! I got same day service and didn't have to go another miserable night worried about the next day. I am weary about signing a month to month service contract after seeing such previous negative reviews but as long as they keep up the prompt and friendly service I'll continue to use them. Wow been with them for 15 years and they have been ok. They advertise if you have a problem they will get to you in one day. Today we found a huge scorpion in our bathroom and a small one a week ago. We caught them and disposed of them.I asked them to come with traps and inspect the area. They said they could get to us in 3 days and said the window they required was 6 am to 12 pm.I said could they narrow the window they said no. So I canceled their service and am now looking for a new service. If I could rate zero stars, I'd prefer that. Fraudulent company. Did not service my property on their scheduled day(s), I rescheduled and they still didn't show up. I called to cancel and they tried to gaslight me and say that services were rendered. I was on site all day and have security cameras. No one came to service my property. They are now refusing to refund me and claim the property was serviced. Records can be falsified, but cameras don't lie and neither do I. If services were rendered, I wouldn't be writing this review. Please do not support this company. They are not good and honest people. Like most of the other people on this thread I feel cheated, and I am so mad at myself for not looking at their YELP first. I had a a gnat problem, and the exterminator did not take sufficient time to find the source of the problem. Instead he looked around for about 5 minutes and convinced me that a bogus $350 service would solve my problems. The bugs were back 2 days later. I told them it didn't work and they came back and did the same thing that did not work the first time. The next time I put in a complaint and they never got back to me about me, and when I called them back they said since it was over a month, there was nothing they could do. So I just paid them to do an ineffective service and a good company would be more committed to actually solving the problem, instead of just performing acts that don't work. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I used Hitmen in the past and they were efficient and punctual. Apparently, they were bought by Western Exterminator. First, scheduling is a nightmare. You get routed all over the country and then I had an appointment on a Thursday with a confirmation email. I received a voicemail message, the same day I was to receive service, that there was a system mixup and there is no service technician available. This is after I rearranged my work meetings to accommodate this service. Then, I rescheduled for today (Wednesday) and received a confirmation email. The technician called at 7am this morning to say he was within 30-40 minutes of arrival. By 10:15am I called him back and he said the "service ticket just disappeared from his schedule". What? Do not use this company! They don't know how to schedule and dispatch their technicians, however, they are very efficient in asking for a credit card before a service is performed. This whole scenario was a giant waste of my time. I rarely give reviews but this situation required me to alert other potential customers. read more
