It's so nice to have a dependable place to pick up food, supplies, treats, and toys for our dog. The staff is so friendly here and they have a great variety of options. They mostly cater to dogs and cats, but have bagged food, canned food, refrigerated and freeze dried options and even carry CBD products. They also have some great deals from time to time where we've been able to try out some new products for free or at a discount. If you buy food regularly make sure they have your name too, every 12 bags you get a free one. There is parking up front as well as on the street alongside the building. Went here to get a nice sturdy cat tree for my three cats. The lady was very helpful and was able to look at my vehicle and tell me what size cat tree would fit (6 ft) and she was right. Even helped me load it in the car. I was looking for a sturdy cat tree because my cats are hard on them. They seemed to like it and two of them kept taking turns sleeping on the top level. Only downside of the cat tree was that it didn't have sisal rope on it and one of my cats likes it. I just bought a second much smaller scratching post with sisal. read more

My pup and I spent a great 20 minutes wandering around this little pet store. She was so happy & sniffed everything in sight. I was very happy with their selection of doggy bags - especially because I was able to get 120 Earthrated recycled bags for only $7 (cheaper than the other less eco friendly options too)! We were able to find her Natural Balance wet food, Greenies dental treats & picked up a bag of Zakes Hip Action soft treats & a bottle of Papaya/Coconut shampoo for around $40. The staff was very patient & talkative. Seemed to be the only person working at the store but did a great job of balancing answering the phone/checking customers out. I was doubly surprised on entering to see how barebones (more like a warehouse store), and large it is on the inside. They have nice collars and leashes, dog treats and toys, crates and carriers, a wide variety of dog food brands, also loads of food and treats. toys and perching towers for cats, as well as food and accessories for other types of pets. Amazing people work there, who answer the phone, tell you what options they have, and when you get there, they help you find the right thing for your pup. Or if you just want to browse, they leave you to it. Tons of food, clothing, toys, treats, and other various kit. Highly recommend if you need something but want to look at some options before making a decision. I needed a waterproof coat for a dog freaked out by rain. He's a tough little dog when he plays with the big dogs, but water hits him and he turns into a trembling baby, so we wanted to help him cope. The woman at the Pet Dept helped me try different things on my pup until we found one that fit, and was really helpful. The parking lot is small, but that's true for a lot of places downtown. I have been a customer ever since the location was where Opa Opa is now. I had bought a small leather collar for my little poodle about a year ago. To note, I have bought these collars for my other digs through the years. While I was at the vet, my dog jumped at another dog and the collar snapped. No problem, I thought. I've always passed by this store on the way to school/work. I noticed the cat trees in front and the 40% off sign next to them. I've been wanting to get my cat a cat tree but the ones at the chain pet stores are too big for the space I have and/or have too small platforms for my cat. I went in to look at the trees about a week ago and was about to go home with the perfect tree for my cat, but sadly it was too big for my car lol. I was planning on going back to get it the same day but my cousin was out and about and didn't get home till later. So a few days later I went back again to look for a tree that would fit my car and the space I wanted to place it (luckily the first one didn't work out because it would have been too big for where I wanted it). It's a little over 4 feet tall and super sturdy for my guy!!! I got it for about $75 with the 40% discount which may seem like a lot but for the quality of it, it's worth every penny! I've also been wanting to change my guys diet to a raw diet and this place is the first pet store I've been to that carries raw food like dehydrated rabbit, venison, etc in various brands like Stella and Chewy and Primal (rn they have $3 off of their dehydrated Primal cat food!). Okay, so I've been coming to this store for at least 7 or 8 years (probably longer) to get items for my 2 cats - no cat-lady jokes needed, I've heard them all. I love this store because not only do they carry high-end, health and specialty foods and products, but they have all the basics as well. Treats, toys, litter, carriers, trees, you name it, they have it. AND, they are great about recommending items and providing advice when needed. The items here are priced well and the service is always super friendly. If I could change one thing, it would be the parking lot, which is extremely small and a little hard to navigate. My advice to avoid parking issues, go early in the morning and you'll be just fine. read more

Tucked away in a mostly residential section of J Street in East Sac, this store's 70s exterior might be mistaken for a thrift shop if it weren't for the row of carpeted cat towers that line the sidewalk like a cartoon hedge, drawing your attention as you cruise down J toward the river. This is a place that has done the research on pet food for you. (If you've embarked on that mission, you know how fiery the subject is). The store weeds out the mediocre, in addition to the junk, and carries truly healthy brands, such as Wellness and Nature's Variety, a small grain-free brand that is favored by a lot of online pet experts and independent vets. That's the brand the owner feeds her critters and so do I. Due to an astonishing decline in my short-term memory capacity, I can never remember the names of the owners, but they remember me (probably because my repeated, frantic visits in search of the right food to solve what is acerbically referred to among my friends as the infamous cat vomiting crisis of 2008). These guys are pros, not minimum-wage cashiers. I trust their advice because time has proven they are not beholden to particular companies or corporate kick-backs (as is the case with far too many vets, who push Science Diet with such zeal one wonders if it's linked to Scientology). When it comes to food and flea products, their straight-talk advice rivals my vet's and I've found them to be right every time. The place is always busy and, as others have pointed out, unlike Western Feed, it rarely runs out of stock. read more

Went to purchase cat litter and a domed litter box to help keep the odor in my tiny, itty bitty, apartment in check (not being dramatic). What a great place! I decided to stop in one day on my lunch because of the great reviews and I needed a collar for my pup. The front of the store makes it look super small, but then when you walk in, there is a ton of stuff inside! They have a bunch of dog and cat treats, dog and cat toys, some dog collars and leashes, a few cat collars, pet dishes, cat litter boxes, cat litter, cat houses and scratching posts, some dog clothes, accessories, etc. I would say about half the store is filled with the above merchandise, and the other half of the store is filled with varies bags and cans of cat and dog food! Many of the food choices are very specialized and unique, they looked like only the best choices for your pet, so I just wish I had more time to look around! I didn't end up getting a collar because the small dog collar selection wasn't too big, but I did buy a box of environmentally friendly waste bags which were the same price as Amazon.com! Which brings me to say, I was shocked at how GREAT their prices were, especially for being a small store. All the prices that I saw, were the same, or even LOWER than the prices I saw at the big name pet stores and Amazon.com! I don't know how they do it, but I love it! All the employees I came in contact with during my short visit were all friendly and helpful. They all said hello to me and volunteered their help, I was also shocked to see three employees working in the middle of the day on a Thursday, excellent! I will definitely come back here again when I need to pick up something for my dog and cats. The location is really convenient to get to and parking is easy. We always find toys and products here that we don't see anywhere else, and their prices are better (or at worst, the same) as the large chain stores. A bit out of the way from where I live, but it's the best pet food store if you're looking to spoil your furry family members! From the outside, it doesn't look like much - in fact, you might drive past and never notice it was there. Inside, it's a little treasure trove! There is a wide variety of healthy food available and lots of different yummy treats and toys for dogs and cats. The employees friendly and knowledgeable, and they have given me so much helpful advice! The shelves are usually well-stocked, but if they don't have what you need in-store, chances are they can special order it for you. The prices here are also very reasonable - way better than anywhere else in town, so you can spoil your pets without going bankrupt. It's my favorite place to shop for my pets! read more
