I had trouble getting responses from a number of other contractors on whether they could do a monolith slab for my backyard office/studio project. Ricardo was familiar with the work needed (vapor barrier under 2" insulation, and deep footers to support extra weight, and 1/2 rebar 24" OC). I opted for saw cut contraction joints which turned out pretty good, only a few small chips that'll get filled in with caulk anyway. The slab is 10x15', 10" deep footers with 5" depth in center for $4500. I got a similar quote from others but Ricardo seemed more familiar with mono slabs process. His team was very fast to complete the excavation/framing and was very communicative on measurements and location of things. It took a few days to pour the concrete due to availability of the concrete supplier and weather but it worked out well and the finish was very good, exactly what I was looking for (smooth finish). Highly recommend Ricardo and his team. Will be doing business again.

When we reached out to Harbor Deck, they were one of the only companies willing to take on our project because another contractor has already done work. They helped us identify incorrect and unsafe work completed by the first contractor and developed a resolution plan. Both John and Adam with Harbor Deck come out to our home multiple times to provide us an accurate bid and to ensure they understood our vision for our deck. The quote was fair/reasonable for the scope of the work. Once Harbor Deck and Fence began working on our deck, they were efficient, friendly, and frequently checked in to ensure we were satisfied with their work. You get a fly-by-night crew messing up your concrete, and there's no easy solution. I got three bids on my patio. Sione's was the most expensive. But in the walk-thru, Paul noticed things the other contractors didn't. He asked really good questions and provided a price quickly. His decades of experience was evident. So I decided to spend more and use him. He and his crew didn't disappoint. I wanted an arc on the end of the patio, and they worked on the form until I was happy with it. They answered all my questions and I had a lot. I'd overseen a lot of commercial concrete in my career, but was unfamiliar with several things they did during this residential job. It wasn't wrong, it was just unfamiliar. They explained why they were doing what they were doing, so I withheld judgment until the end. There were a couple of details in their prep work I wasn't happy with. They changed them without complaint or argument. And they cleaned up after they were done. On top of everything else, the crew was amazingly fast. Concrete is brutal work, but these guys moved like a well-oiled machine. The result was a beautiful product. No low spots, perfect slope, clean joint, beautiful radiused edges. I will definitely use them again when I'm ready to replace my old driveway. And I will recommend them to anyone I know looking for quality concrete work.
