Scheduled an appointment for my wood stove to be cleaned and inspected. We have lived here for 8 years and never used it since I am fearful of fire. Scheduled for a Monday and unfortunately the person who could do it wasn't able to look at it and we rescheduled for Wednesday. Nick came and took a look, inspected it, got on the roof, cleaned the stove out. Everything was good and he answered questions we had about lighting it for the first time and what we should use in it. Wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. I wanted to write this company a nice review. They claimed they could service both our dryer vent and our pellet stove. One person did come out for the dryer vent and did a fine job. He wanted the other one to address the pellet stove due to a lack of knowledge. The owner later assured me that they would get to the pellet stove. They never did. He did not reply to my text to follow-up, stringing me along all summer. We got screwed by these folks. read more

After living here for ten years, we thought it would be a good idea to see if we needed our chimney cleaned. Very nice gentleman came to our home and explained what he would do before giving an estimate. The chimney itself was clean enough, but the mortar on the chimney needed some attention which he showed us in pictures he took, as well as the mortar in the firebox itself. If you need help with your chimney or wood stove, definitely call SS Sweeps! Very responsible, responsive, has had to deal with my rentals which means having to check with the tenants and their schedules. I had to task them with a more unusual issue with flashing a faux rock chimney since the roofers wouldn't do it. Then to make matters even more difficult for SS Sweeps, I asked them to photo installing a new wood stove and recycling the old one, then fill out a form so I can get the reward from ORCAA! Poor guys! I had a bid from a different company and they were insane. Just stick with Nick and he'll fix up your chimney problems. read more

They completed a free estimate on my project and prepared me for a couple of different scenarios of what to expect in terms of cost pending their inspection. Nick came out to do a chimney inspection and sweep if needed on our new home today, and I've already referred a friend to call him for the work she needs done. Nick was very polite, professional, answered my multiple questions, and was very communicative about when he would be arriving and what he noticed. He even screwed in the flashing our roofer neglected to secure while he was doing the inspection at no charge! The inspection showed that we would need a total crown replacement, but that otherwise everything else was good to go. We will 100% be contacting him again to do the crown replacement and eventual install of a wood burning stove insert. read more

Our chimney hadn't been used for 20 years. The co-owner came cleaned and inspected the lining, flue and gave it a passing grade for use. The tuckpointing needs to be done and a new cap installed. It wasn't done at the time, because it is a concrete slab. read more

Our initial experience trying to find someone to repair our chimney caps was horrible due mainly to many contractors either not returning calls, not following up, or just plain not showing up. It was a relief to finally find a company that responded and was professional in their operations. This two-man partnership worked together in bidding the job and completing the work. The top cement caps had deteriorated after a number of years, and water was seeping in and down to create efflorescence on interior brick work. It appears that this industry is quite busy, but South Sound worked us in and they followed through and completed the work in a timely fashion, even going beyond to repair a leak around the exhaust pipe for our water heater that extends through the roof and also coming back later to remove debris from our roof, which I mistakenly thought was left by them (turned out it was from some painters!--but they were very gracious about handling it for us.) If you are looking for chimney specialists, be forewarned that many of these contractors just simply do not respond or procrastinate in following up. South Sound is one of the rare ones that apparently take their business seriously and cherish their professionalism. read more

I contacted South Sound Sweeps to inspect and clean a chimney that hadn't been serviced in at least a decade. Nick responded promptly and set up an appointment, arrived on time, and did great work. I really appreciated the transparency in pricing and thorough explanation of the inspection results. After explaining that I'd be ok with doing minor repair work myself, he even gave me an itemized list of a few things I could pick up and install myself in order to get the fireplace into working condition. The service Nick and Mike provided me was off the charts. I'm still totally amazed by these guys. They treat you like you're the most important customer they ever had. The first time I requested their service was August 2018 to inspect and clean my chimney. I received their response the same day, an appointment was made, and Nick showed up right on time. The chimney check and cleaning was done. Several years prior I wiped my wood stove down with alcohol wipes which resulted in rust covering my wood stove. Nothing I tried removed the rust until Nick suggested I use Linseed oil. My wood stove now looks nearly new from using Linseed oil to remove the rust. I also asked Nick for an estimate for chimney case replacement to be done down the road which he mailed to me. I contacted South Sound Sweeps again recently to replace the chimney casing and to install new insulation to wood stove and asked for pricing. Mike called me back and said they will use the same estimate Nick gave me over a year go which was a total surprise since I expected the cost would have gone up since the time of the original quote. An appointment was scheduled. Meanwhile I texted Mike several times with additional questions before the appointment time and he texted me back promptly each time. I received a confirmation text of appointment the several days before appointment. On day of appointment, I received another text with ETA. I appreciated the flow of communication. Mike and Nick arrived on time of ETA. Mike replaced the chimney casing while Nick installed new insulation to my wood stove door and top of stove opening. He also cleaned out the back of the ash tray which was preventing the ash tray door to close. They are professional, knowledgeable, excel in workmanship and their pricing is fair.
