My family arrived home from a month-long road trip, to find that our drains were not... You know, draining. After trying to auger the drain myself, and making it about 10 feet down before my small Home Depot tool reached the limits of its abilities, I realized I needed a professional. In hindsight, I wish I had known about Western Rooter before I called one of their competitors who advertises on the radio with a lowball, bait and switch price for drain cleaning. That other company came out, used pretty much the same style and grade of auger I had used, then suggested he needed to pull the toilet. I suggested... And I'm just spitballing here... That maybe he try the sewer clean out plainly visible on my patio. Nice kid, and I'm sure he was a better plumber than I am, but to cut to the chase, he was unable to resolve the problem. Told me he made it about 30 feet in, and despite trying both the tub and the toilet and making it through there drops, suggested that my cast iron drops was shot, and would require replacement to the tune of several thousand dollars. I thanked him, wished him a very nice rest of the day, and told him I'd be in touch if I wanted to go that route. Kindly, he only charged me for the house call and nothing else. Small victory, but not a solution. Back to the drawing board... To get to the Western Rooter part of this review, A friend here in town suggested I give them a call, and I did. By the time the other fellow had left, we were in the part of the day that required "double time" for the house call, but with no working drains, and all evidence pointing towards a mainline sewer stoppage, I pleaded with the dispatcher to send someone right away. She did. The Western Rooter plumber arrived right on time, and immediately got to work, sending a camera through the sewer clean out, and down the pipe. Using his tricks of the trade, he adroitly navigated a few plumbing twists and turns to snake The camera into the right spot... Bingo, found the blockage. Immediately after, the gentleman wheeled in the right gauge and grade of drain auger, ran it down a good 80 feet, then followed that up with another camera down the pipe to ensure that he got it. Problem solved in less than an hour for a ridiculously affordable price, even for the after hours plumber. Didn't feel the slightest pinch tipping this guy an extra President Grant for a job well done, without any mess. Effectively, getting a second opinion not only resolved the issue, but saved me thousands of dollars for a repair that I, in fact, did not need... And would not have resolved the issue! Talk about dodging a landmine! What can I say other than our family has a new go-to plumber, trustworthy, honest, and affordable. The fact that they are only minutes from my front door is a bonus... and while I can wish as a homeowner I never need to call them again, I'm relieved to know the reality is that when I do, Western Rooter is the company I'm going to call, and the company to whom I will refer all of my friends and family. read more

Once again the problem continues with this business. We had them go do a check valve test and in the process they broke the shut off valve for our fire sprinkler system and then they have the audacity to send me an estimate for $3850 to change it for us. I reached out to our fire sprinkler company and they told me that they did an inspection on that property last week and thy were able to shut off that valve with no problem. I sent them out to check out the broken valve and they said that someone put a wrench on it and forced it closed and broke it... So far Western has sent and resent me the replacement estimate 3 times but have failed to respond to my emails about this situation. Our shower drain has been getting progressively worse over the past 3-4 months. Tried Drain-o and snakes and nothing was working. The company sent Justin and Diego to my home and they both far exceeded my expectations not only as professionals but great humans as well! The job came with overgrown grass that covered the line, they could have told me it's not their job to find it, they didn't. Summary: Outstanding company, top to bottom, I would give 6 stars if possible. At my home within hours of my phone call. Work began 30 minutes after I later accepted their bid; the job was completed by 1 p.m. the next day. I found all five of the employees I met to be knowledgeable, professional, hard working, and yet friendly and sociable. If having SoCalGas turn off your gas wasn't somewhat traumatic, I would rate my experience with Western Rooter as downright enjoyable! Details: SoCalGas verified my reported leak and shut off my gas. After receiving an estimate from one company, I received two recommendations from friends for Western Rooter instead. Manny & Vinny came and reviewed the situation for one hour plus. That evening I received an estimate with two possible courses of action. The bids were extremely competitive based on my comparison to the other company's proposal. The next morning I selected the more comprehensive Option 2. By nine a.m. Vinny and his crew of Alberto, David, and Christian were hard at work. An 85 foot trench was dug. The next morning new pipe was laid to the front of the house and a new shut off valve installed. Their pressure test revealed a small leak in my home's interior. The source was quickly identified, the problem corrected, and a second pressure test passed with flying colors. I was able to call SoCalGas around 1 pm to request reconnection that afternoon. They came to install a faucet and did a good job quickly and left the place as clean as it was when they arrived. It was $245 for the work. If I have one complaint, the only thing that they didn't do was leave the old faucet (the plumber didn't ask and we didn't request it either) but it had to be cut off to be replaced, and I wanted to see what they did to it. It was also very expensive and brass. Other than that, terrific work, good price, and their plumber was a super nice and very together guy. read more

We've been having issues with our sewage throughout my whole life. I scheduled an inspection and hydro jet to see if that would fix it. Unfortunately due to the length of time we went without professional maintenance, the hydro jet was not able to clear the roots in the sewage pipe. I have been a happy customer of Western Rooter for over ten years. Our house was built in 1912, the year Titanic sunk, so we expected to have plumbing issues along the way. This week, we had another main drain backup. The fine folks at Western Rooter sent over RJ, Ruben and Angel to finally fix our root-bound main drain. RJ used a cool camera to show me where the recurring problem was, and suggested replacing the broken clay pipe intersection with high density PVC fittings. After a very reasonable quote for the work, the crew went to work digging a FIVE FOOT DEEP hole down to the failed pipes. I was getting tired just watching these men work like beavers! The job took two days to complete. How often do you hear, "Yes sir, thank you sir, excuse me please", from repair workers in your home? RJ, Ruben and Angel are fine men, with excellent skills and work ethic. My Wife and I are thrilled with the quality of the finished work.
