I recently had a technician from Rooter Hero Plumbing and Air come to my home to inspect a strange smell coming from the attic. I suspected a possible Freon leak and requested an evaluation of my AC unit. Unfortunately, the technician's demeanor was unprofessional and dismissive from the start. Rather than assessing the situation, Christian asked condescending questions that made me feel uncomfortable and belittled. When I explained my concern, he responded with, "What do you want me to do? Smell it?"--a response I found both unhelpful and inappropriate for someone in a service role. His tone and body language made me feel uneasy in my own home, which should never be the case, and I asked him to leave. I called this company expecting knowledgeable assistance and respectful communication. Instead, I was met with a lack of professionalism, minimal effort, and an attitude that made the experience frustrating and unsettling. There are a lot of places to call for professional help. STAY FAR FAR AWAY from these clowns. I just had to fork over 6,600.00 for a job that should have been 625.00 . Their TECHNICIANS are actually licensed SALESPERSONS. Check them out on the CSLB. The SP on the end of their licenses means SALESPERSON. Their technician L. S. misrepresented the job to his supervisor and told him that my 2 toilets were back to back on 1 line and that was his excuse for NOT snaking my master bathroom toilet. We called them out to clear our master restroom toilet and the technician "CABLED" my guest toilet instead. When I say CABLED I mean that Rooter Hero picks and chooses when to use a cutter blade or bulb to clear a soft blockage. They basically tell you that they will hurt your pipes if they use any type of a cutter blade so they can UPSELL you a DOUBLE CLEAN OUT like you see in a lot of reviews. When I asked the technician LS why he didn't snake my original, master bathroom toilet problem that we called him out for he said and I am quoting exactly what he said. He said, " What good would have that have done?" Well, it would have saved me $6,000.00 for beginners. I had put a stop on my job to try to straighten out why I had 2 UNAUTHORIZED signatures and why I was missing my 5 Day Notice to Cancel document, Right to Rescission document, and my 3 Day Right to Cancel document. 2 of which showed up after we requested a second set of emailed documents a day or two later. When I questioned the unauthorized signatures NO ONE could explain where they came from. They tossed me from one person to another to play the shell game that they play. They billed me twice as a COMPLETED JOB before I even had a FINAL INSPECTION done in the work that they did. Their billing department called to collect their money and when I informed the lady that the inspection had not been completed yet she said that she sent LS a message to call me back. LS never called me back. I tried calling back the billing girl to see if she had told LS to call me back. She has NOW BLOCKED MY NUMBER. They sent an "INSTALLER" out to glue the risers for the double clean out and to backfill. I observed the installer applying the ABS glue to the damp surface after he removed the riser from the adjoining coupler. I asked him if he was going to dry off the moisture before applying the glue. He replied, "It will evaporate." WOW! Is all I could think. And HE'S THE PROFESSIONAL HERE? He applied glue over the damp coupler as well and joined them together. Approximately 13 minutes later I went outside and observed him backfilling the hole BEFORE the glue had cured and BEFORE getting the FINAL INSPECTION done. He said that he took pictures to send to the inspector and they told him to backfill it. . The inspector made them dig it back out for an actual inspection. When final inspection day came the inspector passed it but the risers were still way out of vertical alignment and needed to be straightened out. LS did not come back to my job because "HE IS BUSY WITH OTHER JOBS." Ya, he's out screwing seniors and can't get back to you is what I was thinking. Is anyone else here seeing a pattern? They sent out another guy Phil to dig out the dirt for inspection and backfill again. He had to loosen the clean out bands and turn the clean out slightly to make it actually vertical. The problem with this is that the inspector was going to have to reinspect it again because he had moved the pipes again. At this point I am totally over Rooter Hero and all the BS that they have put me through. I asked their supervisor BF why his guy didn't attempt to snake my second toilet. He was told that the toilets were on the same line with back to back toilets so there is no point in snaking the second toilet. When I took the supervisor into my house and asked him if he thought my bathrooms SHARED the same line. He COULD NOT ADMIT that my toilets each had their own branch lines. My toilets are on separate branch lines. I have the master bathroom with a north to south drain line and a guest bathroom that runs east/west. The east/west branch line is approximately 16 feet long and meets with the north/south line connected by a branch connector. (Wye) The supervisor could not admit that they were wrong. He thought that the pipes were close enough to count as 1 I guess. There is a lot more to this story than what I have here. Stay clear of this company. BELIEVE the Yelp reviews. I don't recommend this company to anyone. State Board needs to take notice of this company and investigate it. Very shady business practices. I'm not done yet. I did my due diligence and paid them in full. Now it's their turn to pay. I gave 2 stars because Phil finished the job. Oh! BTW. When the supervisor was collecting the check he asked me, "Who is Phil? Your son? I had to explain to A SUPERVISOR that Phil was the guy they sent out to finish the job. He works for Rooter Hero. These guys are either incompetent or dishonest. My kitchen/laundry drains are joined at or close to the sewer drain in the concrete foundation, and one or the other clogs every few years and causes overflow through the sewer tap outside. It's a simple drain cleaning, and I've had it performed numerous times in the 25 years that I've lived in my house. Their technician brought up some debris and told me it was tree roots from the sewer line downstream in the yard causing a backup into the house; then he tried to get me to agree to a camera inspection and hydrojet. When I declined, he called his manager, which I didn't ask him to do. Nevertheless, I spoke with the manager, who also tried to convince me to do the camera and hydrojet. He said he would apply a senior discount as well as a military discount--even though I told him twice that I have no family members in the military--and the services would total $1400. I declined and paid them their advertised $59 fee (actually $60 because I paid in cash) , and then I called another plumber that I have found to be reliable, but expensive, in the past. They came and cleared the drain in less than 10 minutes for $179 and showed me that the clog was fabric from the washing machine (which does tend to shred towels). I called Rooter Hero back and informed them of this fact and asked to speak to the manager, who of course was unavailable. I was told that he would return my call, but he never did. Our family car stopped working on the freeway, thankfully we were able to drive off onto an exit but had to push our car away from those coming off the freeway. We were only able to push it a few feet off the intersection and ended up in front of this business at around 10:30 pm. While we were waiting for a tow we decided to stand as far from the car as possible in case a car was to crash into it since we weren't able to push it far away from the intersection. While we were waiting for the tow the owners started yelling at us through their security cameras and threatened to call the police on us multiple times for "trespassing". It would be obvious to anyone with eyes that we do not want to stand in from of their business for 30 to 45 minutes in the cold waiting for a tow. The AC in my house stopped working so I needed a professional. Turns out Rotter Pro Hero isn't it. Christian Macias came to the house and basically messed up my system. I trusted the word of a "Professional" and I got screwed. Lucky for me a family friend came to check it out and told me what needs to be changed to fix it. Christian started off by saying that I had a very old system, which I messed up and didnt check myself. He told me it was a 2008 system and when I went to check the manufacturing date it's actually from 2015. Once I saw this I started looking for someone else I knew these guys were full of BS. After that the tech stared claming I had a leak. I believed him so I told him to proceed I just wanted the AC fixed. After he added the sealant, he then told me my compressor was busted. Turns out at I needed was to change a fuse(don't know the actual name of it) and it started right back up. I was told the green liquid meant to seal a leak was actually now blocking the conversion of freeon from gas to liquid. Rooter hero tried to tell me I needed a new compressor and the total for a new one with service was $6840. I would steer clear from these guys and find a smaller company that actually wants to help you fix your problems. Don't waste your time when they are just going to send someone to actually mess up your system. Also when you try to call their care team to try and talk to them about what happened, they just blow you off. When above and beyond to take lots of pictures to show us what was wrong . When it turn to be out more the just a little clog he went through all the options for us with pricing . These people are scam artists. They went to my 89 year old father's house and claimed he needed a $12,000+ job done to clear a toilet clog. When I said I was getting a second opinion, they put the pressure on claiming his neighbor's apartment needed to be involved and that the neighbor was on a short timeline. They said they were giving him a senior discount. I sent a trusted plumber in for a second opinion and he immediately said he could clear the line and the pipe was stable and holding water. BEWARE.
