I have mixed feelings about this place. However, when I need an oil change this is my go to place. I've had a few minor issues with the staff but most of those technicians don't usually last a while there. Live on Kent Island and have gone here for many years as needed. However my last experience was so bad I will never go back. Employee at tire center desk was rude and disrespectful. Acted like they didn't need my business. Called and talked to manager who promised to address situation but also defended reasons why he might have acted that way. I had a flat tire crossing the Bay Bridge on my way to Rehoboth. It was late afternoon and the two other service stations I tried didn't have my tire size. I called Western and theysaid they had my tire but I would need to wait as there were customer ahead of me, not a problem. From the time I drove in with my flat to the time I was on the rad again was just under an hour. Great service and a great price! Really nice folks and extremely helpful. read more

So I dropped my son's car off to get an oil change and bleed front brake lines on a Tuesday. He was told the vehicle would be completed on Wednesday or Thursday. Drove by on Friday because we had not heard anything and the car was still sitting where he left it. Talked to someone inside and got well we are two weeks behind and if might be done tomorrow or Monday. Well if you were two weeks behind then why tell someone it would be a day or two. Explained that I would take it somewhere else to have the work done and was told that everybody around was two weeks behind. But never buy another Michelin Tire..not the fault of Western Auto, but I had only 23,000 miles on new car tires warranteed for 55,000 miles and Michelin would not honor any credit for the bald tires. Western Auto tried but Michelin would not budge.I bought other tires here and have used Western for repairs, oil changes and other purchases. They are reputable and reasonable. read more

If there were no stars I would have marked that. Took my car in for an alignment. Got a call several hours later stating a bolt broke off because it was rusted so they had to order a new one, they said is tomorrow ok? I said yes, as we have no other choice. I asked what is the additional charge. They said, well I can't imagine a bolt costing that much. Next day, went into pick it up and they wanted $239. The alignment is $99, they wanted to charge for additional labor for replacing the bolt. I refused and said I am willing to pay for what we discussed that was $130. As I was leaving they said, you are no longer allowed to do business her and we are NOT guaranteeing the work. Great business! There are plenty of other reputable businesses that are honest and keep their work. Seek them, don't go here. Reply to response from owner; Never in the 3 phone calls was I or my son told that there was additional work that was being done or additional fees. When asked about the additional fees on-sight, they admitted they didn't tell us about the additional fees, they said it was, "common sense". The owner made sure to put on his receipt, Owner of vehicle is not allowed back and our work is not guaranteed for the service that they provided. read more

I have been going to our local Western Auto store on Kent Island for over 30 years. I wouldn't buy a battery anywhere else because of the great folks there. My family has used western auto since before I could drive. A few years ago I bought my first car (2007 Camry), any issue I've had (mostly non-mechanical issues) I've brought my car to western auto. They are consistently amazing with my car. They don't try and find more things to charge you for. They do don't unnecessary repairs. My fiancée has also been a loyal fan of western auto. They've helped her, and showed her, how to replace headlights for free. They've always done her oil changes correctly. I stress the word "correctly" because there's a certain other mechanic shop with three letters around here that has always over filled or used the wrong oil, also they unnecessarily and with out permission change your oil. I will continue taking my car and any future car to this shop for as long as I'm around the island. read more

I had a slow leak in my tire, and then suffered a blow out in the parking lot at my work, just down the street from here. (I still thank my lucky stars that the blow-out didn't happen 5 minutes earlier while I was crossing the Bay Bridge...yikes!). So my car limped on over to here. They installed a new tire, quickly & cheaply, and sent me on my way. Good service all around. Some of the other garages here are kind of a joke, but I'd definitely recommend Western Auto. read more

We noticed a screw in our tire on way to beach, so put on the spare. There was either a problem w the spare or how we put it on, but it was vibrating like crazy. We called from the bridge and they said they could help us. We showed up and in less than the time it took to have lunch they repaired the tire and we were ready to go. They were so nice and really helped us out. Our son could not wait to get to the beach, these guys saved the day. read more

My Mercedes E350 alternator gave out on a return trip to the DC area and I just so happened to limp in to the Western Auto off Rt. 50 in Stevensville, Md. This occurred just before closing on a very cold Sunday evening in February 2016. I can't say enough good things about their professionalism, and genuine excellent customer service. They help me find transportation and gave me a lift to the rental location down the road (the rental facility next door had closed for the evening). When I returned to pick up the car they help me return the rental, and delivered my car back clean and in perfect working order. The cost was very reasonable and I highly recommend this business for quality workmanship, and amazing customer service. read more

I will not go back to this Western Auto in Chester unless they hire new management for the service department. I made an appointment for a fairly simple repair to my truck 2 days in advance and when I brought it in the manager would not make eye contact with me, was not able to tell me if the truck would be worked on in the morning or the afternoon. I called back at 3:00 and asked if they had an idea when the truck would be finished and he said he didnt know - they were slammed. I found another place to do the repair (I have lived on Kent Island for 20 years and have been burned before by this Western Auto) so I called back and told them not to work on it and basically got hung up on. Then the crazy thing was when I went to pick it up the bays were empty -the mechanic said he was about to take it back -- jeesh - I dont get angry at people usually, I never write reviews like this i am a nice person .. really. read more

Western Auto is a great place to buy auto parts and get your car serviced right the first time. Their prices are reasonable. And they'll do the little extras for free like putting on new wind shield wipers for you when you buy them there. I've had no problems at all with the car repairs they've worked on. Took our daughters 4 cylinder car there for an oil and filter change. It takes only 4 qts of oil. Bill was $43. Outrageous in my opinion!

I had an appointment for work to be done on my car. Dropped the car off the night before. Never heard anything all day. At 4:30 PM called to check on the status on my repair work. I was told that my car was not going to be looked at. I said I would have liked to have had a call letting me know that I was not going to be serviced. The only apology I received was that they did not call me, after I pointed out that I was not called. I went in to pick up my key to take my car home, and I still never got an apology for not adhering to the appointment I set up. I have had other poor customer service experiences with them and they have lost my business and I will let everyone know about their poor customer service. read more

This particular experience leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. I can honestly say that I have had wonderful service here before. This time, while the car was in for an oil change, I asked that Western Tire and Auto give me an estimate to replace the driver's side inside door handle. They called, told me the oil change was complete and quoted me a price for the door handle repair/replacement. I was stoked. Great price! Took the car back for the repair a few days later. Called the next day to tell me they had replaced the door handle, but that there was a "hole" around it because another part (a bezel) to "enclose" the handle was not included. Wait, what? You've completed the repair for which you gave me an estimate, but it is only partially complete because you did not include a needed part in the estimate? The service manager told me that they replaced the door handle, that they did what I asked for. I asked if it was my responsibility to provide a parts list for the repair I wanted. Do I need to specify that I want the job complete. The service manager explained to me that some people want things fixed only partially. Wait, what? Isn't this something that Western Tire and Auto should ask the customer? I guess my VOCABULARY was incorrect. I guess I did not specify the DEGREE to which I wanted the repair. That I wanted it fixed ALL THE WAY!!!!!! I just cannot wrap my head around this. I picked up the car with a new door handle surrounded by nothing but air. I can see right in to the door. I fully expected the service manager to tell me that this was poor service, and that they would supply the bezel around the handle at no additional charge. NOPE! It is my fault.
