I'm not sure how there are good reviews for Bar Louie... My wife and I have been twice. The first time we were there for over 2 hours until I asked when our food would be out. The waitress came back and said she forgot to put it in but she would get it to us ASAP. We said no because we had been there so long and didn't want to keep waiting. We were annoyed but they were very apologetic and ended up giving us a free appetizer and drinks. The second time we went was just as bad. The service/food were not great. We ordered three different meals on the menu until they said they had it in stock. AND our card got charged twice. I just feel like they don't pay attention and don't really care there. We went during Covid restrictions when most restaurants are practicing cleanliness. They seated us at a dirty table. It hadn't even been wiped down from the prior patrons' usage & still had food & drink remnants on it. We waited for them to clean it and the server walked over to take our drink order & laughed when we began cleaning it ourselves. The French onion soup & chicken tacos were REALLY bland. The Buffalo chicken pizza had SO much garlic in the chicken that it was almost inedible. The women's restroom was filthy disgusting. The handicapped toilet paper holder is SO low that you cannot reach the toilet paper to get it out. Absolutely inexcusable. The toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks or months. So when you serve minors and get caught you make your bar tenders ask 55 year old men for their ID... only restaurant bar in Westgate that has done this to me in years. Unfortunately I only had cash and a credit card so was obviously disappointed as I clearly look like a 55 year old man and a US Veteran. When I couldn't produce my ID the bar tender, who is straight trash, told me to get out of "his bar". Trust me on this, this kid, I'm sure, has a hard time paying his rent on his apartment let alone owning "his bar" at this restaurant. If you are unfamiliar with Bar Louie, may I ask why? Bar Louie has locations near two popular destinations in the valley (Westgate and Tempe Marketplace) and they have great visibility. While I have been to both, this review is for the West Valley location. Because of the proximity to Gila River Arena (it's right across the plaza) I've dined at Bar Louie on many occasions. Recently, I grabbed a late lunch before a Coyotes game with some season ticket friends. They are regulars here and it shows. Our server, Michelle, knows them by name and even seemed familiar with their usual orders. She did a great job being around, making suggestions and dealing with our motley group and sense of humor. Kudos to her! One consistency I've noticed at each Bar Louie, is the cleanliness. Fortunately for them, it's typically busy. Fortunately for us, the staff does a great job keeping it spotless. Bar Louie looks like a classy place from the outside, and luckily, it is equally classy on the inside too. The atmosphere is fun, festive and laid back. In other words, it does a great job of not feeling like an ordinary sports bar. The menu reads like a typical pub and grub, but in reality, the ingredients are higher quality and the food is prepared really well. I've dined at nearly every restaurant at Westgate. Bar Louie is one of a very few that I would be happy to eat at again and again. Now go find the Bar Louie closest to you and smack yourself for not trying it sooner. read more

Came to this place after an event. Lines are natural, and as a table of 3 we were seated fairly quickly, with full menus....but didn't even get seen till we had to ask 30 minutes later. At this time the waitress we flagged down didn't know who the waitress was for the specific section and said that they couldn't make the requested food items after 10 pm. Why give full menus if not offering full menu. Extremely poor service, could only get 1/3 of the items listed. Definitely do not recommend this place. Won't be returning. Very unhappy, not worth it. Decided to try this place for dinner on a Friday night. Stopped in and asked the bartender behind the bar to point us in the direction to where the front is to be seated and she said it was open seating, inside and outside. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather. However we ended up sitting outside for at least 15 minutes patiently until we got frustrated because no waitress/waiter came around. We noticed tables behind us and there was one server trying to catch up and apologizing to those tables for the delay in service. It frustrated me because we still were without waters. Finally my friend goes inside to get the attention of a staff member and a lady says she will be right out. After 5 minutes of waiting, (I think that's long enough) no one still comes out. We sat for another 5 minutes until I went in. I went in to the bar waiting for help but no bartender was on that side and I had noticed 4 staff members on the other side talking to each other. I didn't want to be rude but I went and asked if someone could come service us as it's been a long time now. One girl says she will be right out. She comes out and asks for our orders. Now I'm not sure if we were her table or her section or how it works or if she just decided to come help us, but she brought no waters with. We both ordered a drink and I placed an order for an entree. The drinks took a while to come out but surprisingly the food was brought over to me right after she placed down our drinks. That was kind of scary. I ordered the voodoo pasta that came with noodles, shrimp, sausages, and bell peppers. The pasta was cold but I was starving so I ate it. It wasn't bad but it lacked flavor and it came out way too quick. Water refills came so I am thankful for that but it took her a long time to bring the check, to pick up the check, and to bring back the check. I don't even know where to begin. I would say my dining experience here was by far the worst I've ever had. We decided to go here for a bite to eat before the hockey game. HUGE mistake. For starters, we ordered pretzels. The server brought them out freaky fast (1-2mins) and told us perfect timing since someone else changed their mind and didn't want these. I sat there in confusion because I didn't know if he meant that it was returned by another table and he decided it was ok to serve it to us because we just happened to order the same thing? Red flag #1. This gets better. My husband and I both immediately noticed the queso/cheese dipping sauce was extremely thin and like water and not the thick consistency it should be. We asked the server about it and he said "ya that's what the last group complained about it but I asked the kitchen and they said it will eventually harden". We waited 5 mins and told him this wasn't going to work and something is seriously weird with this entire platter. I have some concerns with this--is it ok to serve a dish someone else sends back to the kitchen? And why was the cheese so runny? I will never know I guess. Super shady and just makes me nervous dining out! He did however bring out another order of the pretzels and the queso cheese was perfect and yummy! I ordered a salad and my husband ordered nachos. He got his nachos with a ton of chips which was nice but barely any cheese on it...so a pile of dry nachos. I ordered the Quinoa salad...came out with a dust of quinoa on it ( literally the name of the salad is quinoa, where is the quinoa? See photo) and NO dressing! Here is the kicker--I asked for some dressing and the server disappeared on us! We saw him attend to new groups coming in and not once did he drop by to say I'm still working on getting it. I sat there staring at my salad that was now wilted and still no server. He eventually came back 15 mins later (no exaggeration) and asked how everything was? Ummm so you forgot about the salad dressing? We waited 10 more mins and finally he brought out the dressing. At that point we had to get going to catch the game. I couldn't believe this place failed me that many times. Had the lunch come out ok, I would have been ok with the pretzel situation. Thank Goodness my work sent me to do a scouting mission after a few coworkers raved about the food here; I ordered a rare burger tonight and not only did it take 50 minutes to emerge from the kitchen but it was also ice cold. The bartender was super nice and said she's refunding my money. Not sure if it will actually go through; I was so sad/hungry/tired at this point that I left with my sorry excuse for a burger. Have to tell my coworkers not to do our next big meet up here: we have anywhere from 20-50 people and drop 1-3 thousand a visit. Glad I learned my lesson for under $20 and can steer people away! Our last visit to Bar Louie was nowhere near the quality of our previous visit. This time the burgers took about 45 minutes to come out after waiting quite awhile to order. Our server this time, a male, was also not even close to as kind as our previous server. Matter of fact, he seemed annoyed the whole time. First time last time. Terrible service. Never again. The bar at sky harbor has better etiquette. No really, we were just there. Who serves food on huge platters with no napkin, silverware, condiments, side plates, nothing. Not even a drink refill request. After a couple of minutes standing at the door, we were greeted and told to seat ourselves. "This place doesn't have a sign that says to seat ourselves," Tran D. whines slightly. I legit had a full untouched glass on the table and was still charged the $5. Darn. At least the food and company was good. I had gone with the Pear & Blue Cheese Salad and Tran got the Loaded Tots. These plates were huge and we ended up sharing our plates. The cheesy hot goodness from the tots with the pickled jalapeños paired surprisingly well with the sweetness and fresh taste of the salad while the blue cheese gave everything a little funk. I enjoyed myself. We couldn't finish either of the plates since they were so generous with their portions either but we picked away at both plates while spinning two nearby Pokéstops while laughing insanely over Pokémons that kept running away. The drinks and service here super sucked. Don't go here if you want a decent cocktail! And the service couldn't be any slower. We came here before a Pearl Jam show and ordered a Moscow mule. What we got back was what tasted like 2 pixie sticks mixed with water. Moscow mules aren't supposed to be that sweet, so I don't know what the hell that was that was given to us. We paid for a drink, so I asked for another one, but I didn't have confidence in the bartender's bartending skills, so we just went with whiskey on the rocks. You can't fu#% that up, right? Besides having decent bar food/prices, Bar Louie is terrible. Service is horrible. Table was sticky. Even on a slow evening everything takes a long time. Came in with some coworkers and it took at least half an hour to get our appetizers. Our server had tables across the restaurant and had to rush back and forth. Took him ages to refill our drinks and get beers to the table. We also split the bill and instructed him what card to charge more on and he charged the wrong card... *There was one girl barking at customers "You have two minutes to finish your drinks and food until we close" and rushed off to complain to her coworkers that she has to work late. Don't work somewhere that is opened late and complain about it. The only reason why this place still has foot traffic is because it's in such a popular location. What is with the open seating in such a large space and the limited amount of servers working? No wonder why people are so against returning back to this establishment. read more
