After a long week at work, there is nothing better than Bar Louie on Friday nights at Westgate. They always have local sport teams on tv and everyone is so friendly and you must try their flat bread pepperoni pizza! I had the pleasure of being served by Marissa and Baylie. They were so attentive, amazing and extremely friendly. Marissa is a wonderful bartender that will make you feel so relaxed and chilled. I've never met anyone so kind and passionate for her job. She was always very assertive asking if I needed another beer or top off my water or a simple chat about my week. I highly recommend Bar Louie for it's perfect atmosphere and enjoyable staff. Our visit was on Fat Tuesday with a Coyotes game getting ready to start at home. I preface this because even though our service was unbelievably slow and painful, I would still return. After about 15 minutes with no server, we finally had a waitress and ordered beers during happy hour and put in our food order as well. Happy hour ended at 6 so we ordered a second round before it ended but our server didn't get them entered so we paid full price, which is annoying. There were 4 of us and we didn't order anything elaborate: 2 $5 burgers, a flatbread and the fish. It took well over an hour to receive our food. Luckily, our waitress was paying attention and sent out a chips and queso appetizer because she noticed how long it had been. The menu states burgers come out medium I think? My friend's burger was definitely rare to the point of undercooked. Mine was perfect because I asked for it medium well. Yesterday, I visited this location, during non- peak hours, (on a Friday afternoon), for an early date night. My husband and I, were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess. While seated and looking at the menu, I began to notice, not a single server had come by our table to take a drink order. No big deal, why can wait..... As we waited for nearly 20 minutes, I counted at least 5 waiters either talking amongst themselves or serving other tables. I then noticed something that bothered both my husband and I; two parties who had arrived after us, had not only gotten seated, but several members of the wait staff, taking their orders, as they repeatedly walked passed our table, without so much as a glance in our direction. I decided that it was time to leave, I would not be patronizing an establishment that obviously didn't want my business. Before leaving, I briefly spoke with the manager, recounting the situation. He was apathetic at best, so I can only assume his team is merely following the example he is setting. Long story made short, we left and went to The Lola and proceeded to have a wonderful time. I visited Bar Louie in Westgate after having lunch just doors away at Lola in Westgate on Saturday just before a hockey game. The service at Bar Louie was far superior in comparison to the service I received at Lola's. My server was Jessica, whom had recently relocated here to Phoenix. Jessica was very personable, friendly, and attentive to all in her section. We were seated on the far East side bar section in Bar Louie. This place was sooooooo busy, yet Jessica did not miss a beat in providing EXCELLENT service to us and everyone else in her section. Went to dinner Saturday night. No menus available. We leave our phones in the car as to not distract during dinner. Had to use the waitress phone to review the menu. Food came and was worse than bar food. The burger patties were pre-packaged frozen patties, the "Caesar" salad was iceburg lettuce (not Romaine) with really watered down dressing (paid extra for this vs fries). A really great new place to go for late night eats, since they close at 2am every night. The food is delicious! We started with the pretzel sticks app, which were fresh and hot! The dips served along were honey mustard, queso and cinnamon butter (I know, I know...but it was surprisingly wonderful). And, for our entrees, hubby got the mac & cheese sandwich w/pulled pork and tater tots. He devoured it! Hmmmm, I think he liked it. I got the Backyard BBQ burger and tater tots. The burger was juicy and perfectly cooked, it had cheese, bbq sauce and onion straws on it...so good! And, don't judge me, I asked for no bacon (which is part of the burger), and it came just as I asked. Our waiter, Mike, was friendly and attentive. Plus, he actually remembered us from a different restaurant, which we hadn't been to in a long time. So, it was like bumping into an old friend. The restaurant is really big (inside and out), there are 2 bars and they have live music on Thursday nights. It was comfortable and spacious...you don't feel cramped inside. A great late night choice at Westgate! Go sit outside and people watch! I've eaten at Bar Louie back east years ago and enjoyed the food. The menu has a great variety and portions are large. We ordered the pot stickers for an app. Cooked well with a bit of spice in the drizzle on the plate. Next up was tortilla soup and house salad for me and Drunken Fish for my friend. The tortilla soup was a 'cup' but was actually a huge bowl. The ingredients are very fresh and the soup has a smokey taste to it. The house salad was huge as well. The Drunken Fish had a fantastic crispy beer batter very worthy of being the best we'd ever tasted. The drinks from the bar are a bit heavy handed. Of course that's nothing to complain about at all! We went on a Saturday night and forgot about the late night club crowds at Westgate. We sat outside and it was a bit noisy with the various clubs playing loudly but that was just part of the atmosphere and people watching. We will be back again and again. read more

highly disappointing both service and quality. the food was lazily thrown together and not at all the quality the other reviews suggested and we expected. food was organized like the components were not cooked with the rest of the food, but put on after as toppings. my fiancé offered to let me sip his drink. the staff immediately told me to stop and put the drink down and that i was not permitted to share my fiancé's drink because i had not been carded. they then decided to take away the drink. we left after this. staff was rude about handling this and these comments were entirely inappropriate and unprofessional. i'm curious as to how management would have handled this situation as staff did not seem to know the appropriate way to treat customers. read more

I ordered an effing good martini it tasted very heavy-handed on the lemon or lime juice very very very sour, are usually like sour but it upset my stomach there is so much lemon or lime juice in it. I even put ice cubes from my water in it trying to tame it down. Besides less lemon or lime juice I wish it would Of had a little more cucumber flavor could not taste the cucumber at all... I don't write many reviews but Bar Louie at Westgate deserves a zero star review. We came in with a work party of about 30 people. Our server Justin was a nice young man who did his best. I'll give him all of that one star I had to give. The food and drinks are overpriced but what restaurants aren't these days. The problem is I have seen better quality food and service at a dive bar. One of my coworkers ordered loaded fries but after an hour and a half had to ask for them again and was brought just fries. They didn't even seem to be a whole order of fries. Here is the real reason I decided to write this. When we unrolled one of the rolls of silverware the fork had a thick layer of film or mold on it. At first I thought it was a stoneware or matte finish fork. I'm not talking a spot this was the whole fork. For the guy washing dishes this would have been hard to miss, for the server that rolled the silverware it would have been impossible. I asked to speak with a manager to point out the problem and the server returned to inform me they were really busy but they would come out when they could. An hour later and the manager never came. What kind of restaurant doesn't have managers check tables? Oh yeah, fast food restaurants. I guess when you are in a high traffic area like Bar Louie at Westgate you don't have to think about quality or return business. I just wish I would have taken a picture of that fork to share. read more

My wife and I got a drink at the bar which was good..... they say us down and we ordered.... every 10 minutes our waitress walked by and asked us if we were okay... I guess wanting us to order drinks... hour and fifteen minutes in ... we asked "any idea where our did is?"... " the kitchen is running a little behind" .... we asked for a manager.... she said he is checking to see how long our did would be.... he came to our table and stated... " should have it out in 15 minutes" and I stated.. in addition the the hour and 15 minutes we have been here?he said.... " yes - the tickets are taking a ridiculously long time - do you want to wait?" . So I said yes - I will wait the 15 minutes.... 20 minutes later.... still no food.... had to go get the waitress... very rude.... so she charged us for the mimosa and we left... So.... never have experienced such terrible service in AZ... and they just acted like it was normal.... if you go here..... better arrive in Friday for a concert in saturday... and pack since food!!! read more

Another great experience at Bar Louie! Went here the day after my 21st bday. Had the buffalo chicken flatbread, appetizer tacos and some drinks. The tacos were PHENOMENAL. I also enjoyed the flatbread, though my partner thought it was inedibly salty. For my drinks, I had the Strawberry Lemonade (I believe it was a Margarita?) And the Pineapple Express Sangria. This was a really bad experience. Came here to meet up with some friends for some food and drinks on Sunday 9/6/20 at 1:00 pm. Upon arrival no one was there to seat us to our group. Once we walked to the table ourselves and sat down we were never greeted again. We sat there for about 38 minutes before just standing up and leaving the establishment. It was like we were invisible a whole group of seven people politely stood up with no service and walked out and no one had stopped us to ask what was wrong. Again as if this entire group was completely invisible. The most aggravating part about this is watching a similar sized group coming in 28 minutes after zero service and they get greeted sat and served waters. We had a large group with a reservation, even so, they failed to have enough staff for the size restaurant. The server was great, but slow (bc of staffing). The kitchen was awful. They didn't send all the food out together, didn't know how to make a grilled cheese, and undercooked a burger so much that one of our party got food poisoning.
