This is by far the worst airline I have ever been involved with. First their system was down when it came to paying our check in and they triple charged our cards. Next there was a delay on our flight by an extra hour and to top it off, they didn't even package or know the status of my mother's luggage with us which included her clothing, and gifts for our friends and family in Canada. Never in my life have I encountered such an incompetent airline that shows indifference to its customers. Avoid this airline like a plague ridden ship, you'll most likely be inconvenienced or lose something in return. read more

Terrible customer service for inflight staff on top of losing luggage. We travelled through the west jet vacations - they lost my whole luggage , said it would take 24hr to get it - my luggage did not arrive at the resort until my last day , 30 min before I had to depart to the airport. On top of that , in the tracking on their website the status was still "trying to locate your luggage" Skip to the return flight - When we were checking in, we wanted to upgrade to the emergency row seats and were told none were available (I think the check in agent just didn't check) - lo and behold, flight takes off , a whole emergency row is free - I explained to the stewardess the situation, offered to pay, said my husband is more than able to deal with the emergency - she actually smirked, laughed and rolled her eyes at her colleague all infront of me. WestJet changed planes and my premium seat disappeared. They put me in economy and refunded by purchase to WestJet Travel Bank. I had paid with all the Travel Bank and more with my credit card. So when they refunded they used the old expiry date of my travel bank, with only 90 days to expiry. They are basically stealing my money. read more

Don't usually like leaving bad reviews but this is a low cost carrier that acts that way. None of kiosks were working, they would not let us check in online or at kiosks, and we missed our flight despite being at the airport 3 hours early. On top of that they would not acknowledge the error and provide a re-booking. They took all the money for check in bag and did not even refund that despite us not making the flight. I don't mind low cost carriers but when they don't go the bare minimum and steal money. read more

Very bad! This afternoon, 18Jan25, I will a flight from John Wayne Airport to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I tried to check in online 24 hour before flight time and proceeded with adding luggage. Then the system refused to accept my credit cards. I tried on several platforms: laptop, tablet, iPhone, samsung notes to no avail. From 12:30 pm the day before to 12:30 am the next morning, I called agents several times and all they could say is sorry, go to airport and pay there. When I wanted to talk to Kevin at 12:30 am today, I wanted to elevate this to his supervisor and was told that there is not a supervisor on his shift. That will definitely create chaos at the airport, inconvenience, and WestJet will charge much more there. I would say that is a fraud, a scheme trying to get more money from customer. This is the worst airlines! First, they cancelled our flight literally as we had just passed through customs and rescheduled us to another flight more than 24 hrs later and just sent us a text with no explanation of why. Then, I called customer service to reschedule, spent another 30 minutes on the phone. She told me that I should see my flight change updated in about 10 min. When I didn't receive anything, I called back to find out no changes were ever made! Then, I called again and was finally rescheduled for another flight about 6 hrs later. They scheduled us for a flight with a super short layover which we barely made our 2nd flight. And now we have finally reached our vacation destination, and 2 days later, still have 1 missing bag!!!! The flight was late, Something about the equipment being broken. I dont have very good luck with this airline. The problem is if you want to reach central canada you dont have a lot of choices. Its these guys or Air canada, and air canada does not service every shit burg in canada. Don't get me wrong I love canada. I just don't like west jet. On my way home our connecting flight was through Calgary a nice airport, recently remodeled but pretty big. Our flight was late getting in, so we had to clear customs and get to our departure gate which was clear on the otherside of the airport. Not sure why travel back to the USA they always make you clear US customs in Canada. I had to literally run through the airport, almost a mile in steps to barely make my flight by 3 minutes. One of My traveling companions got held up in secondary inspection at pasport control and did not make the flight. Since waste jet is a delta affiliate, and my friednd was a delta diamond flyer he was re-routed on delta from Calgary and made it home at 1:00am instead of 5:30pm. Not a great experience. I have traveled widely in North America, Europe, and Asia, and never have had as bad an experience as I did on a flight from Edmonton, Alberta to Victoria BC. on February 25th 2025. First, my flight was cancelled, and I had to postpone traveling by one day in order to avoid taking a connecting flight with a long layover. When I rebooked my Econoflex ticket the seat options were poor, so I accepted an offer to bid on an upgrade to Premium Economy. When I went to check in for my flight on line, the website tried to charge me for my luggage, and when I called customer service the person I spoke with advised me that I had to see an agent at the airport. When I got there at 6 am, having had little sleep, I realized that my Premium Economy ticket meant I could use the Priority check-in lane. Unfortunately, the man working in this lane denied me service and forced me to move to the economy line. I believe that he thought I did not look like a business traveler--I'm a woman and older--but when I tried to explain my situation he basically told me to stop yelling at him (I was not) and to follow him. The saga continues, but I will leave it there. I have traveled often on Westjet, but those days are over. Even if the cost is higher and the flight longer, I will chose other airlines if I have the option. Meanwhile, the final irony is that when I tried to submit a complaint on their website, the complaint form did not work. read more

They cancelled my flight and gave me an alternative flight TWO DAYS later arriving FOUR DAYS later! So My family and I would have arrived two days before we were scheduled to return home. So I booked a flight on another airline and WestJet did not even credit me for the flight that they canceled! I recently booked a direct economy flight on WestJet from John Wayne Airport (SNA) to Vancouver, B.C. (YVR) using my credit card points. It was a reasonable price so I wanted to get it while it was still available. I arrived at the airport and went to the counter to check-in my bag. I paid for the checked baggage online for $30. After checking the bag, I wandered around the airport for food and boarded my flight at the appropriate time. The process was fairly painless since I knew which seat I was sitting in because I checked in 24 hours prior to boarding. They had offered me an upgrade to premium but I didn't see the point in paying extra to sit a row in front of my current seat. Sure they offer alcohol and food to those people, but for less, I ate and drank at Javi's before my flight. My flight was on time and the flight staff were pleasant. I did not have any issues with WestJet and I would fly them again, especially non-stop to Vancouver. read more

They would not let me request an alternative time at all -- even though I offered to pay additional fees. Instead, my only recourse was to buy another ticket on top of the one I paid for. Who knew you could fly out of OC/John Wayne direct to Vancouver, BC Canada? Now that you do know, you'd be crazy to still voluntarily choose to fly out of LAX. Interestingly, on WestJet's site they promote John Wayne as being "Orange County - Anaheim" so I'm thinking they mainly devised this for Canadian families looking to go to Anaheim for Disneyland. Now, why anyone in their right mind would wanna go to D-land is beyond me, but I'll cut the little ones some slack. FLIGHT OPTIONS: it appears they have 1 flight a day that departs out of OC at 1:10pm, and 1 that returns from YVR- Vancouver at 9:30am (lands in OC @ 12:25pm). Not sure if it changes throughout the year PRICING: I got such a GREAT DEAL that I'm legally prohibited from disclosing it here. You would be foolish (and crazy, and insane, and psycho-ex level) to fly out of LAX for similar prices CHECK-IN: online, beginning 24 hours before the flight. You can enter your passport info at time of booking though SEAT SELECTION: this is done online when you check-in, but for an extra fee, you can reserve your seat well in advance if you'd like TLDR: it'd be pretty dumb to fly out of LAX to Vancouver if you could get a good price from WestJet out of OC read more

I had a GREAT experience flying WestJet from Vancouver to Orange County. The ticket was inexpensive and the legroom was twice the room as the other airlines and I didn't have to pay extra for it. I had purchased a ticket through Cheap Tickets to fly from Vancouver to San Diego. I had arrived at the airport between 8-8:30 for a 10:15 am departure only to find out THEN that the flight was delayed 6 hours! I had had check and neither an email nor phone call about the delay was communicated, which was very inconsiderate, disruptive, and not professional. Had I known that, I wouldn't have missed work and gotten fined! I did wait until around 2:30 pm for the flight until a WestJet member finally made it to the kiosk and assisted me on booking a different flight. In between that time not a bottle of water nor a meal voucher was even offered for this enormous inconvenience! On top of that, I had called to speak with someone on the customer service end to figure out if there were any additional delays as the automated system was stating one thing and the agent at the Vancouver location was stating another, and the gentleman was extremely rude and not allowing me to finish speaking nor helpful in any way. I finally made arrangements with the onsite agent to fly today, Monday, 08/27, and not an email confirming the reservation or a print out of when I should return to the airport was communicated to me. I called, again, this morning and the young lady was so unhelpful this whole experience has been A NIGHTMARE! I WILL NEVER, AND I MEAN EVER, BE TRAVELING WITH THIS AIRLINE AGAIN! You would like when you inconvenience people you would at least be cooperative and accommodating to their simple requests of sending an email about their new flight information. But, since I booked it through Cheap Tickets you couldn't send it to me? But, you wanted me to check in on YOUR website? That makes absolutely no sense and I am so upset. West Jet airlines STINKS there is no other way to put it. Over the Holiday season my bag, along with 10 other customers was mistakenly rerouted to another flight. We sat for 2 hours at baggage claim before our bags showed up looking like they had been drop kicked from the connecting flight and then dragged down the runway like an abused child. I had bought myself a beautiful Rimowa trunk for the flight to Vancouver. Unfortunately when it finally showed up it looked more like a crushed Beer can, scratched, scraped and dinged beyond recognition. The custom luggage tag which I had spent time delicately writing in my details had been ripped from the handle never to be seen again. I wish I had used my beat up industrial duffle bag, Im sure it would have hit back! However I lament the decision to use my sophisticated Rimowa with immaculate pedigree, it took the abuse! Coincidentally 1 other passenger in the unlucky group had the exact same bag as me...albeit good taste her face echoed my sentiments as she retrieved her bag, I'm sorry to say hers looked worse than mine and was missing a wheel. Rimowa's don't loose wheels you pay for the German engineering to ensure this...really. The saving grace being that her bag still had a luggage tag on it and I didn't go home with hers and vice versa. Heres the kicker...The agent at baggage claim told me to call customer service with my complaint as we were 2 hours behind schedule and holding up 2 other families. On return I spent hours on hold looking for the right Department to lodge a complaint or open a case with. It seems the holiday season is not ideal to have an issue and expect it to be remedied at west jet (worst Jet) I won't bore you with the boring red tape, essentially by the time I had kissed my lunch hour goodbye and waited the 40 mins to be transferred to the claims department I got Joanna who was "very Sawry" (Canadian accent) but I had 7 days from the incident to report it. I barely got home in 7 days and couldn't get through to anyone living for 2 weeks, I'm sure due to the BUSY HOLIDAY SEASON. So now I am left to wince at the sight of my Trunk and remember WORSTJET fondly. Happy travels people AVOID westJet AKA WORST JET. read more
