Beside a few delays, we had $1500 camera stolen from checked luggage. It was totally deliberate, left the case unzipped and other bags inside of it rummaged thru. If you can't trust them to take care of your belongings, how can you trust them at all- I am sure it's not the first, but I will never fly again with them, unless they make it right. read more

Good experience. From Dallas to Cali. Good and friendly staff. Airplane was clean (for an airplane). To watch and connect to their network while flying, you need to use Safari, it won't work with Chrome. Good amount of movies. I liked the little sanitizer wipe I got when boarding. Well , I thought I give them another shot after being totally side ways in Newark NJ ::: that was a cancellation 10 minutes before the flight was supposed to leave, so i think things happen don't be like that... So I gave them another chance in OC flying to Frisco , I absolutely need to be on time I have multiple people waiting on me when I get there. Right out of the gate 1 hr delay... so I talked to steward at the desk told her I can't be late what are options ? She said where's your destination, I said Oregon.... She said don't worry you'll make it! Ok so land then hope and pray it's next to the gate I need to be at. I don't need the added stress.... And if all goes perfectly I might have about 15 minutes to go gate to gate .. we leave early to be on time...whats my stress worth? What's the value of my or your being at ease and not having added worries on a trip that needs to happen properly?? These issues are consistent with this airline .. late late late. The we inherently have to eat stress that belongs to the airline. Bottom line ... "they're just unreliable"! I will avoid in the future.. I simply don't want or need this. read more

They have two stars because I made it to my destination and didn't die. That being said, I am underwhelmed by the lack of service. No food, no checked bags, no entertainment. I'm wondering what you are doing? This is such a big company and I knew someone who was a stewardess and she talked about this company in a way that was so positive. However, each experience I have had has left the worst taste in my mouth, so to speak. I know that my goal is to never set foot on their planes because they really don't have much to offer to make the experience better. I feel like they take our money, throw us a bunch of crap, and then want credit when we reach our destination with our lives. Thank you, but could you do that with a meal, entertainment, and for goodness sake, let us check a bag. Great experience from California to Tampa both ways. All of our flights were early arrivals and we were able to get last minute first class seats for a reasonable price. Food and service were good. I have no complaints whatsoever. read more

I had a flight on a Wednesday out of Prescott Arizona into LAX and that flight was canceled. They had nothing available for the next day, Thursday so they offered me the Friday flight out of to LAX. That flight was canceled. Both flights were canceled due to mechanical problems. I missed two days of work that week Thursday and Friday. I was reimbursed for that flight, but I had to rent a car and drive to the Phoenix airport. I had to purchase a one-way flight back to California utilizing miles and money from a different airline and seat. I also incurred Lyft charges to get from that airport to my home. The customer care representative at United suggested I file a reimbursement request to United requesting to be reimbursed for all charges incurred. United did reimburse me for my ticket but a lot more was lost than just that. read more

This "shoutout" review is for the AWESOME Gate Supervisor SEAN for United Airlines terminal at (SNA) Santa Ana Orange County, California airport. The agent Scott was also very helpful! Let me preference by saying I'm most definitely not giving kudos to United Airlines whatsoever! I've been flying that airline for over 50 years and on 6 September, the flight was delayed for 4 hours and there was NO air-conditioning on the plane during a heatwave also no air-conditioning in the jetway. I was traveling alone and stuck on an inferno of a plane feeling sick and shaky from the excessive heat. Since I was using a wheelchair and none were readily available, this kind man was like an 'angel in disguise' and immediately got a wheelchair and wheeler me off the jetway, then ran to the kiosk next to the gate and brought me an ice cold water bottle to put on my neck which helped me from passing out. I could never convey how much it meant to me at this young man was so kind. He was busy trying to fight off a mob of angry people because of the delays and trying to get them onto other flights. He was absolutely calm and friendly and never lost his cool even when people were in his face! Sean is the consummate professional and United Airlines is lucky to have him!! Scott was the gate agent and he was also very nice. He came over and tried to help me get on another flight and eventually I stayed with the same flight even though I got to my destination at 1 AM as opposed to 9 PM. Sean is the BEST!! read more

Once we arrived at the airport to check our luggage; the happiness began... I didn't realize I needed to stop at Kiosk One first. No matter, she was happy to help us anyway. We needed wheelchair assistance and it appeared quickly; the young man was patient and helpful. Once at the gate, Gigi (W.?) was beyond kind. She walked me through how getting the walker to our destination would work and then improved our tickets noting his physical disability. My heart runneth over! I recently flew United again (11/05/2021) and I am happy to report that they removed the requirement for a ticket agent to scan their badge to get your boarding pass at the kiosk (at SNA at least). I'm giving them a 3rd star because they are moving in the right direction by eliminating policy's that delay customers to try to get them to upgrade. Once they allow users to print their boarding pass at home or show the boarding pass QR on their phone I am happy to give a 4th star. (This rating is due to pre-flight policy issues and is not a result of flight crew or the flight itself.) read more

I typically like United but it has slowly degraded through the years. Compared to other airlines the staff is not a crowd pleaser any longer. Workers seem to say and act how they want and give up right away. My wife and I had booked our flights sitting together, and Hillary at the counter had moved us to separate seats without telling us. My wife is scared of flying. Hillary just gave up right away and said there was nothing she could do. I've given this company two chances! First time. They switched our gates last minute and then people were rushing to get onto the plane. Nothing was organized. On the plane; they had over booked so 2 people were standing and we were delayed for this mishap. During the flight I had A kid sitting behind me kicking my seat and screaming. The flight attendant just politely told her to stop and offered me wine. I don't drink, and that did not stop the kid. It continued the entire time. Flight home from that trip I was smashed between two passengers who clearly needed some extra room and the flight attendant asked if I was okay, I said no is there another available seat... and of course not. Now my second trip. They announced 5 min before boarding that something was wrong with the plane and they would have an update within 40 minutes.... hour goes by and they switch our plane and gate. Only to find out that the new plane they switched us to was also having issues. So it would now be a 2 hour delay and I would miss my connecting flight. So asked what the next best option there was to get me there today or before 8 am tomorrow. They were unable to find me anything, and or accommodate me. I missed the birth of my niece this morning. How do you have two planes with issues going on. And then screw your passengers over for a big life time event and all of your associates working don't give to Sh*ts! I even went to costumer service for United and the rude lady said I'd have to do everything on line!!! What the heck is the point of having a customer service at the airport. So you can sit and get paid to piss people off!?!?! On top of missing my nieces birth, now they are telling me it's going to take 7-20 days to get a refund and they won't add on for my travel time or wasted time. My family, and I have become the victims of fraud and repeated severe mental/emotional abuse at the hands of United Airlines and its employees. We have been manipulated into believing we were being treated fairly and with compassion. United Airlines has abused not only loyal, repeat customers but an active-duty member of the United States Armed Forces. On October 3rd, my husband unfortunately boarded a flight with United Airlines. He was returning from school in Florida to spend some time with his family and infant son. His checked bag was mishandled by united employees and ultimately deemed lost. Everything he needed for his career and daily life was in that bag. All military carry what is most valuable to them. What they deem necessary for their life is in there. United Airlines seems to be unaware of this fact judging by the cold-hearted responses (plural) that we have received. On October 9th , United Airlines confirmed the bag, was indeed, lost. We submitted a claim immediately and received confirmation of the submission on October 14th. After completing that, we began to purchase and replace what we could. Primarily my husband's military equipment since he could not return to school without it. My husband returned home again on November 18th to find a check of 1800 had been sent from United Airlines. He called and explained that did not cover the cost of replacing what we had submitted. We were told it was policy, 1800 for domestic, policy. We needed the money. We had no choice but to use the money we had saved for our son's first birthday party in order to replace his father's military gear. We were certain that we could trust United Airlines to correct it's mistake. Imagine our shock when the check was canceled/bounced and stamped with a big red stamp. The clerk told us it was worthless. It had been canceled by United Airlines. My husband was left standing there holding a useless piece of paper. He came home with nothing. We had nothing. We called and called, desperate for answers as to how a check from a company as big as United Airlines "bounced". Finally on November 30th, after hearing it would take another 20 days to "void" this useless check before another could be sent, I had a breakdown. I called United Airlines in tears. I called to ask how they could treat customers this way. We weren't even talking about compensation, we were simply trying to get our money back, what we were owed. Listen to my call. Hear my desperation in explaining that we had to use the money for Christmas for our son's birthday. Apology after apology for my families' "inconvenience", I was promised that this was being taken seriously and would be handled promptly and with the utmost urgency. My husband United Airlines personnel if our family would get receive our money back before Christmas, they said they would do their best to help. We had no choice but to sit and wait. United had our money and United did not want to give it back. This is where the mental abuse really took its toll. On December 5th, my husband received a call from a fraud/employee CONFIRMING the check was voided, and a new check was being reissued. My husband had to periodically call and check what progress is being made. United Airlines employees promise to call you back within 48 hours but that is rarely the case. We finally saw hope that we may, in fact, be able to provide an amazing Christmas for our children after all to order to make up for dad being away for so long. We eagerly checked the mail every day. On December 15th during a routine phone call made by my husband, we were told the most heartbreaking news. After being told over and over from numerous employees everything was fine, everything was moving in a positive direction, a supervisor shattered every hope we had for Christmas for our family. The Supervisor informed my husband that the check was NEVER VOIDED. There were virtually no changes to his account. It was as if we had never called. We are devastated. We have nothing. We used the money for our son's first birthday to replace his father's military equipment, depleting over 2000, we used our Christmas savings for our son's birthday. My son's first birthday was a shadow of what we planned and saved for. In the end, we had a 400 budget for our first child's first birthday. We have nothing for Christmas, surviving off credit cards. Compliments of United Airlines. As of December 18th, we still have no clear answer and there is nothing being returned to us. A manager had the nerve to hang up on my husband when we asked why we were lied to on December 5th. What a vicious and cruel company United Airlines and its hired personnel are. read more

Flew first first from Houston to Santa Ana CA. My five star rating is for this particular trip. Slight delay but not at all to the point of having to complain about it. Even with a child in tow. As for the flight- Very spacious seats, lots of leg room, good service, pleasant and kid friendly staff. Breakfast was decent - a croissant flexibly so-called with an egg and ham inside, Chobani vanilla yogurt, assorted fruits, and a cinnamon bun if requested. Annoying thing to note: despite paying for first we weren't permitted into the United lounge. It is for international travelers - and I assume members - only. Wasn't expecting that. Beware of the basic economy ticket. This ticket doesn't allow for carry on baggage, only one backpack of some sort. So, no regular suitcase. If you bring it by accident, it's a $30 check in bag fee. No other airline does this (not allowing a suitcase) that I know of. Be sure to read your ticket's fine print. Most people don't, so this is a warning to everyone! read more

However, Danny, the gate attendant here at John Wayne Airport absolutely exemplifies everything that a gate attendant should. A positive attitude, making sure every guest/customer is heard, and polite in all sorts of ways. No matter the person he interacted with, he did an absolutely phenomenal job. I flew to Newark International Airport out of John Wayne Airport last week on United Airlines and my experience was most positive. The flight left SNA at 9:05pm and arrived in Newark approximately five hours later. The flight was full, however boarding was quick and easy. I might add that the TSA at SNA were professional and efficient. Not so at Newark International where passing through security is needlessly unpleasant. Anyway, United Airlines transported me from SNA to Newark on time and the flight was uneventful. The crew cabin work very hard in a tight space, and have to deal with the public. It's not an easy job, however, they put on a happy face. It's nice having a non-stop coast to coast option. read more
