Giant highlighter in the sky lol. The yellow planes really stand out. Everything has to be purchased; WiFi, snacks, water, everything. The boarding staff at LAX was awful. One girl was on her phone and did not acknowledge a single passenger as she scanned boarding passes. Lack of communication between captain and guests on one flight. However we had an amazing pilot on our flight from Baltimore to Punta Cana that I wrote an email to Spirit to give to praise to that pilot and they responded with a very lengthy response saying they would pass on the component to the pilot, which I thought was nice. Would probably never fly with them again unless I was on an extremely limited budget. Also in Punta Cana, all spirit planes deplaned on the tarmac but other companies like united and delta got to use the regular terminals. read more

Spirit Airlines, where do I begin? Well, quite honestly I am impressed by you! Had heard some not so nice things about this airline, I was kind of scared to be honest. But, it was the only airline to Vegas within my price range. It was my daughter who selected this airline first and sent me the link with the price. I was going to fly via my regular airline but my daughter wanted us to fly together so I booked it! I got a round trip flight to Las Vegas with a checked bag for 160.00. The app was easy to use and navigate and we had pretty good communication from the airline. People had scared me about my decision to use this airline, bad things but I make my own decisions. Honestly, my experience was quite good. The airplane was clean and the seats were comfy! The staff were excellent and quite fun yet professional. We were offered drinks, it seemed like we had only drank a few sips when the captain informed us that we would be landing soon, I couldn't believe how fast the flight to Vegas was. The plane both departing and coming home was very full. We did have a few hiccups on our way back home, it almost seemed like at one point they were going to cancel the flight while we were all boarded and had our seat belts on. The delay was long and made me nervous. Also, the airline sent us emails a few days before our flight indicating a flight change, this happened about 3 times which made us nervous about a possible cancellation. However, all was ok! Do I recommend? Yes, I do! Would I fly with spirit again? Yes, if going to Vegas why not. Not sure about longer flights though. Thank you for the experience and fun! read more

My first time on a Spirit flight. At least you can see where they are saving money. Thankfully, this was a short flight. I would not want to be in these basic seats for a couple of hours. I have a tablet with a downloaded movie, plus other ways to entertain myself, so I don't need entertainment options, which is good, because everything costs extra. We didn't have any luggage, just our one person item, and were never asked to verify the size or prevented from putting it overhead, so that worked out with the full flight. I did pay extra for seats, which I am glad I did since the flights were full and I expect that at least a couple of folks were bumped. So if Southwest has gotten too expensive and you are willing to dispense with the perks you get there (like a seat that reclines or has padding), give these guys a shot. read more

Is this a budget airline? Yes. Will you be charged extra for almost everything? Yes. However if you go into the expierence knowing that then it will help you out. Yes they charge for everything additional from printing boarding passes to luggage. However for a short flight this is a great airline. The workers are super friendly and helpful with understanding their policies. Now with it being a budget airline I do not like having to pay for a carryon bag. However for a short flight it makes for a great economical choice. I am not sure if I would fly them again but I would if the price is right for a short flight. Unfortunately, on my last trip had to take Cancun to Houston to Las Vegas because of my work schedule that was partially paid by points This is what happen Leaving Houston, I was in the first row to witness this comedy routine Everybody is seated and flight attendants are doing their thing Suddenly there were 4-5 Spirit employees on the plane with the flight attendants not knowing what was happening Some Spirit employees left only to replace by 4 others with nobody knowing what was happening and talking on their phones Captain of the plane was confused and left the cockpit This went on for 45+ minutes while I and other passengers were laughing our butts off from seeing this Keystone Kops doing a Chinese Fire Drill as they were replacing Spirit employees on the plane After ANOTHER Spirit employee enter the plane, the working three flight attendants left the plane - lol After another 15 minutes, two new flight attendants enter the plane After waiting another 15 minutes, the Captain of the plane announced to the passengers that they were waiting for the third flight attendant. After another 15+ minutes, the third flight attendant arrive and (at last) we took off Missed my connecting flight hence complained online. On Spirit's report, they said that "weather conditions" was the cause of the delay - lol!! Complained and finally received two "vouchers" that only apply to certain flights because of restrictions where no details were provided on the Spirit Airline website. Glad I finally got home and safe - lol If you know the game (on my RT flights between LA and Vegas), that means only bringing a small bag (no carry on) and only ONE short flight (how bad can they screw up this - answer: many ways) because their ineptness won't greatly affect one's travel plans. read more

They wouldn't honour the second half of the flight, said the best they could do was refund. NO help finding a flight, no vouchers, no help on hotel.. uuggh!! Canceled my flight without any notification and no phone number to call to talk to a live human. My husband couldn't make his flight out of Orange County but needed the return flight. Because he didn't make the first flight, Spirit cancelled his return flight and didn't notify us at all. He was stuck in Kansas City for an extra day so he missed work and my daughter missed school. This was the worst experience ever. I was not able to find a friendly employee from start to finish We left OC airport for Vegas. Check-in was a joke. Kiosk didn't work had to get in line. Guy behind the counter rude, yelling at people in line and making rude comments that people standing at the counter could hear. Yikes, head to plan and board. Flight attendant was too busy to greet guests because she was at the front openly complaining about the company and procedures. We were seated in row 3. Seat belts did not work, would not lock. Oh well, hope for the best. Throughout the flight the flight attendant continued her negative talk with a fellow attendant who seemed uncomfortable with the conversation Fast forward to return flight. Yep equally rude. Lady standing at check in line checking IDs had little to no patience and was so rude that we were trying to get our luggage tags on even though the line was long and there was no need to rush. I handed her my ID and boarding pass, bent over to secure my luggage tag and she shoved my ID and pass in my face. Get to the front, self check in not working. This seems to be a theme. They were redirecting to an agent who was impatient and rude even though everyone, including myself, were smiling and friendly. Haven't boarded the plan but pretty sure it will be much of the same. Their ticket prices initially are cheap, but believe me, you pay for everything. Carry on, extra charge. Luggage check in extra, strongly suggest you pay for bags before you get to the airline as the price goes up significantly. Would never fly them again. HORRIBLE read more

If I could give zero stars I would. WORST experience ever. Here are some tips for you that I learned the hard way....a carry on is NOT included, a personal bag is....pay for it way before because they will charge a HEFTY price that is stated NO WHERE on their site. Second, make sure if you do pay for it, get it updated BEFORE your flight, if not you'll have to stand in ANOTHER line to get a reprint. I spoke to customer service and they were an absolute joke. So learn from me, pay for a carry on when you buy your ticket because I truly feel this is how spirit makes their money in cheap tickets. It's a joke and the employees had zero customer service. Because I chose not to give them medical documentation that is private, Spirit did not issue me a full credit, but only 40% of the amount paid. What's worst is that I did not even officially cancel my booking and they cancelled it anyway. Also, they only give you 3 months to use the credit or you lose it. I believe this to be tax fraud. Keeping taxes, when no services delivered. This airline does not allow any cancellation. They will give you a partial credit, approximately 1/3 with a a 90 day expiration date and will not refund the taxes and fees, which will not be incurred. read more

However, the employees at the gate were adamant that I stuck with my original ticket. No reasonable arguments given to me, just dismissive condescending behavior. Clearly power tripping. This so-called "manager" on the right threatened to call the sheriff on me twice because I had courage to speak up while everyone sat around as our flight delayed FOUR TIMES. The manager's response was "leave me a bad review on Yelp if you are unhappy!" So here I am. The curly hair employee on the left raised her voice at me while the "manager" was supporting her. I would strongly suggest that no one EVER fly with this carrier. Don't be tempted by their lower prices. I used to not care and appreciated that I would only pay for what I really needed, so having them nickle and dime for seat selection or in-air refreshments, for example didn't bother me. However, I had an instance in May this year where THEY incorrectly published the departure time on their app. When I got to the airport, I was informed of THEIR mistake but wouldn't provide any support besides rebooking me for the next flight the next day as my plane had already departed. I had to stay an extra day in a foreign country and incur unplanned expenses (hotel, meals, Uber rides, etc) and I have been emailing them back and forth since then, providing receipts and such, everything that they asked for. As of this writing, they have completely stopped communications. They don't reply to my inquiries at all now. The last communication I got was a few weeks ago from multiple different Spirit customer service reps reassuring me that they "are still working with (their) colleagues" to find a resolution for me. I let it go for a few weeks and now that I'm inquiring again since it's been 6 months since the incident, I get zero replies. DO NOT, no matter how good the price, EVER BOOK SPIRIT. They WILL NOT provide you any help should you experience an issue and will LIE, stating they are working on your case but will eventually just stop replying. You are much better off paying more for tickets with a reputable airline who you know will at least be culpable for mistakes they make. I will be taking this up with my credit card company and ensure that everyone I know not ever give this DISHONEST company any business. Mervat "The Manager" has absolutely horrid customer service. When we arrived "late" at 12:50 for a 1:05pm departure after asking to use the restroom, we were denied entry to our plane. She was absolutely rude, yelled and wanted to have a power trip against myself, friend and 2x other passengers, one being a child. All we're appalled and we were blown away with the service we received after hanging out in the airport from 11:30am till our flight. Prices for flights are great but charge $$$ for everything. 72 seats, 17 fliers, 6 bags that I could see on the one side & I had to PAY $60 to Carry-on OR Check bag. Bin's we're not even close to being full $60, for a Carry-on is more than the other airlines to Check. Tried to cancel a flight & I would have had to PAY THEM more than the flight cost me-ended up just not going. No customer service & $120 to have a bag bigger than a back pack when n the flight cost $65 is ridiculous! Won't fly them again, ever! read more

They either put me in the very front with the most leg room for my dog or they boot everyone from my aisle. They offer him water and tell me it's ok to take him for a strolll up and down the aisles. This airline is beyond shocking. It is not worth saving a few dollars because the stress dealing with them is priceless!! I had a flight scheduled my third one in two months and I used my nickname which did not match my drivers license. Security sent me back to the counter to get a name change. There was no one at the counter when the lady did show up it was too late and her system was not working and his supervisor was nowhere to be found to change the name so I missed my flight. My wife has several physical disabilities that keep her in perpetual motion. Some people may think that she's intoxicated when she's not if you speak to her she doesn't sound like she's inebriated, nor do you smell alcohol however, instead of spirit air axing us what was the problem and trying to help us fix it they simply put us off the plane and didn't refund my money. One star because they don't have a minus button. I booked my flights six weeks in advance of my trip. I arrived at the airport and go thru security with two and a half hours to spare. I check-in with the counter and let them know I had a calling and had to go to the room. I said I'll be right back. The counter help said fine. I went to the restroom... You know it's outta respect for the other passengers... but I hurried along and when I returned, returned before 12:20am my flight left. I ran to the window to get someone's attention , but my calls of distress were not answered. Furious I called, but was referred to a bot chat on Whatsapp. Which that machine told me to pay 378.00 more dollars because the place left on time. I said no it didn't and took a picture of the screen which indicated they left early. I lost out on numerous non refundable rates that I had booked. Disappointed not only my friend, but my family. Including my auntie who was scheduled for surgery, then chemo to fight the breast cancer. Needless to say I'll never ever ever ever use this airline again. I think it should be down right illegal to do these things and at least indemnify the ones they hurt. But no they want to charge me more than double to catch another fight. Horrific Experience of Cancellation with Spirit Airline Last Friday, on August 9th, I flew from Florida to Salt Lake City, with a connecting flight to my destination, Los Angeles. However, when the plane attempted to land in Salt Lake City, it encountered a rainstorm, and after several unsuccessful landing attempts, the captain flew to Boise. After refueling, the plane returned to Salt Lake City. The 18 passengers transferring to Los Angeles were informed that our plane would pick up passengers in Salt Lake City and then fly directly to Los Angeles, so there would be no delay. I was very relieved to hear this, knowing I wouldn't miss my connection. However, when we landed at around 9 PM, we were told that the flight to Los Angeles had been canceled. At that time, there were about 20 to 30 people at the counter rebooking their flights or requesting refunds. We were repeatedly told to first retrieve our luggage and then use a link on our phones to process the refund. I tried to use the link to request a refund, AI generated a message said: "You are currently in queue and your message will be answered in the order it was received." I haven't heard from the AI until I tried to re-request using that convenient "refund" link next morning. I decided to get my luggage first. After walked for about 5 to 7 minutes to the baggage claim area to retrieve my luggage, I then went to the Spirit Airlines check-in counter to request a refund. I saw several other passengers whose flights had also been canceled doing the same. Spirit Airlines rescheduled my flight to Los Angeles for 7 PM the next day. I couldn't accept this because I would miss my son's birthday gathering. The agent informed me that since the flight was canceled due to weather conditions, the airline would not cover my accommodation costs for the night. They said they would process a partial refund only after confirming that I had secured a ticket with another airline back to Los Angeles. However, the exact refund amount would need to be approved by a manager, and I would have to wait for a response. Meanwhile, I went to the Alaska Airlines counter to inquire about their 6 AM flight to Los Angeles the next morning, but it was fully booked. I had no choice but to call my family and ask them to search online for the earliest flight back to Los Angeles the next day. After returning to the Spirit Airlines counter and waiting another 20 minutes, there was still no response from the manager. I asked the agent for information about accommodation, but they were busy handling other passengers' refunds and couldn't assist me. I suddenly realized it was already past 11 PM, and I had nowhere to stay for the night, so I had to quickly book a hotel. Finally, I found a nearby hotel online and didn't check in until 12:30 AM. On the morning of August 10th, I headed to Salt Lake City (SLC) airport to continue my journey to Los Angeles (LAX). I promptly submitted my request through the link, but to my surprise, the response stated that my flight on August 10th was not refundable because there was no significant delay or cancellation. What? I was forced to fly with Spirit at 7:15 PM! This situation needed to be addressed. I then approached an agent at the Spirit boarding gate to explain my situation. To my surprise, she told me that she couldn't do anything because the refund request had to be submitted within TWO HOURS! Really? She kept insisting that it was the company's policy. Realizing that she couldn't solve my problem, I asked to speak to her supervisor. She claimed that she was the supervisor and reiterated that she couldn't help with my refund. It became clear to me that the airline only handled refunds online. Fine--I would dispute the transaction until I heard from Spirit. While I was on the phone with my credit card company, the supervisor approached me again to ask if I had any updates. I walked over to the counter, and she asked for my old boarding pass. She then called her manager for help and explained that the two-hour refund policy had been misunderstood. I told her the policy was misleading and expressed my dissatisfaction with her handling of the situation. She became defensive and accused me of having an attitude. I informed her that I had every right to end the service she was providing and asked for my boarding pass back. Suddenly, she grabbed my boarding pass and yelled, "The boarding pass is the property of Spirit, not yours!" I firmly requested that she return the boarding pass. Instead of complying, she tried to take a picture of it with her phone. Furious, I snatched it from her. She then threatened to call security to have me escorted out of the airport and the police to arrest me!! I felt threatened and being treated unfairly. I have never been on a flight where I can over hear other passenger conversations let alone the flight attendant personal conversation subject matter as she talked to the other attendant.
