Ok to be fair, I gave this business a 2 because they handled my previous loan in an exceptional manner. Fast forward to a new loan, the dealer was offering GAP coverage at $256 for the contract length. This fool that called me from Westlake said I needed it blah blah blah $9.85 a month for the length of the contract. I said No and he insisted as a true salesman even after I mentioned it to him that I had a good experience and I didn't want this phone call to ruin it. He was rude and unprofessional. Definitely a 1 Star review for this company. It is nearly impossible to call and speak to a competent professional representative from this company. I financed a used VW GTI with this company. I wanted to pay off the loan and get my title. First and foremost, the most frustrating thing is you cannot speak to a live representative unless you trick your way in. That's the first red flag. Secondly you cannot wire transfer your final payment. You can mail a check (risky), use Moneygram (major pain in the butt) but you cannot just simply wire transfer. Why, I don't know!! I did finally FedEx Overnight a Cashiers Check and now waiting for the title, hopefully it shows up. They say 10 days to release but I kinda doubt it based on all the other frustrations so far. If your car dealer mentions Westlake Financial, I suggest you respectfully decline and ask for another lender. If there were zero stars, I'd give zero stars. I paid my car payments on time every month for 3 years-then refied with my credit union a few months ago. Well, since my payoff exceeded my amount owed-I had a refund coming back to me. Refied March 2026, was sent a "reminder" email in May that I had been sent a virtual debit card for the amount with 20 days to use it. NOPE. Today, June 5th, I received an actual debit card with the amount and all sorts of restrictions on it and an expiration date along with a warning that I have until a certain date to use the card and will incur fees if I use the card in certain ways. RIDICULOUS! If I had sent my monthly payments to them this way they would have re-possessed my car!! How can they get away with this?! Not to mention the fact that they had my bank account information (I was set up for ACH payments) and my address so they easily could have sent the refund to me by check or deposited it in my account. read more

Westlake Financial is, without a doubt, the WORST financial institution I have ever dealt with. They are a "sub-prime" lender, meaning, they tend to service people with low credit scores who cannot get funded with Prime lenders. 1. I actually have an 800 credit score, and wanted to pay cash for the vehicle, but the car dealer I worked with would only give me their best price if I financed. So I agreed, and unfortunately, they signed me up with Westlake Financial. 2. I tried to make a large payment online, but the maximum payment allowed was $2000. When I got my next statement, there was a $25 insufficient funds fee. 3. I tried to call their Customer Service line, and was connected to "Taylor", an AI. I kept asking to speak with a human, and I was disconnected. 4. I tried again, and finally got "Taylor" to agree to transfer me. Thereafter, literally every 20 seconds, a recorded voice asked, "Hi, are you still there?" I answered "Yes" and it responded, "I am connecting you to someone who can assist you." This repeated itself EVERY 20 SECONDS for an entire hour, after which, the call was disconnected. 5. I called back again the next day, and finally got through to a human. He reviewed my account and said the NSF fee cannot be reversed. I insisted on speaking with a supervisor, which took 20 minutes. 6. The supervisor then told me that I had provided the wrong bank information, which is why the payment was declined, and the NSF fee was charged. I told her that Westlake never advised me of this, and submitted the payment again, and this time it cleared. This was clearly an error on their part, since the same bank information allowed the payment to be completed the second time, so I had NOT given the wrong information. The supervisor then said that she would escalate the request to reverse the NSF fee, but it would take 2-3 business days. 7. I have dealt with nothing but incompetence and apathy from all levels at Westlake. I was supposed to keep the loan open for a minimum number of months, but I am paying it off in full NOW so I don't have to ever deal with them again. OMG yes I had late payments - sorry skipper my life did not turn out as perfect as yours and you never fail. Someone should really finish nailing your sainthood to the cross ( rolls eyes ) My missed payments were during Covid. Any late payments thereafter were prompted by the fact that this is the only way to get a live agent to return your inquiry. Otherwise, their only number looped to automated entries only. That is where the sublime lender starts. If we have a legally binding contract, then I should be able to speak to a live agent to resolve any issues. When I ask a question regarding my loan/charges I was never given a straight answer. Hence, I will make my payment when I want a live agent to answer me. MUTUAL relationship. I have been asking for over 2 years why I have paid $5000 over into my interest billed than on my contract, and no one in the company can provide an answer. Mr. Anonymous with the short d, with all your wisdom a few late payment do not amount to an $8000 discrepancy. Speak when spoken to and know all facts when answering. When they repo'd my car - my past due was $700 and I had just made my 1st payment on the get caught plan. If I thought that my car could possibly be repossessed, then I would not have kept any personal valuables in the car. Which I did - my security tape shows me putting my laptop and Nike bag in the car. Neither were recovered. Within 48 hours of them taking possession, they had shipped it 3 hours away to Adesa, even though there was an Adesa 15 minutes away. Intentionally, to try to prevent pick up. After paying $860 for a transport company to drive 3 hours away to pick up my car. Because you can only pickup Fridays between 7am and 10am and I work. The license plate had been removed/missing, my new set of tires had 2 misfits, there was 3 holes punched in on my dashboard, my weatherproof carmats were gone, and there was about 1100 miles added since an oil change the day before. WESTLAKE will not address anything, as I had just made a payment on their payment plan. Sept 2022 to July 2023 - I drive my car, pay the payments/insurance. Now it is time to renew my plates. BMV wont renew because my name was removed from the vehicle 10 months earlier. Technically, I had been driving all year with an illegal vehicle. NOT ONCE notified by Westlake that this was done. I called my insurance company, all the payments I had made to them would not have covered the vehicle as it was not in my name - $1380. I tried calling Westlake, but stuck in the automatic loop. I emailed, they opened ticket, responded with information that did not pertain to what I needed and closed the ticket. This went on for 3 weeks. I finally called the dealership that I bought the car from - a new Finance guy gave me his Westlake rep's personal cell #. Then I was able to get a live agent on the phone. It then took over 2 more months are going back and forth. Westlake telling me that my BMV needs to do this and that, my BMV laughing because it was not what was needed. My BMV talked to Westlake and apologized to me that I had to deal with such ignorance. The BMV simply needed them to add my name back to the title and Westlake played games like they did not understand how to be compliant with documentation. If I am held accountable for my actions, then as a company they should be as well. SUBLIME comes in when it takes me 3 months for someone at Westlake to realize the BMV needs you to add my name back to the title really means exactly that. Yes, I have all the emails/tickets/phone records to show. I spent countless hours on the phone and online trying to resolve. 3 months of paying for a car that I could not drive - 3 months of grocery delivery, doordash and uber to feed my kids and get them where they needed all while walking past a car I was paying for that I could not drive. AGAIN - Westlake does not want to address any of that. BUT let the tables be turned. THAT is where SUBLIME comes in - give me your money but do not ask any questions or expect us to fulfill our legal agreement. Because legally, I am positive they are in violation of multiple consumer laws given the lack of action they have taken to resolve any issues. Plus they wait for you to make a payment to add the accrue interest charge. I make a $1200 payment, it all goes to an interest accrual on the same day for the same amount. Nothing I overpaid went to principal to knock it down - my interest accrued amount just changed to match the payment. SUBLIME means when I call and the company representative escalates an issue. I should not receive an email the next day like I did not reach out and you aren't supposed to be looking into something. I am the purchaser of a vehicle that is financed through Westlake Financial. The Buyer and I have been on the phone several times with Westlake trying to get a 15 day payoff letter as well as paperwork for my lender. Westlake has done nothing but drag their feet. It is nearly impossible to get through their telephone system. It was very aggravating. We started this process the beginning of October, it is now the 19th of November and we finally got the last document we needed so we can purchase the vehicle. Its a good thing for the owner because we could have easily said the heck with it and walked away. Also, they will not supply a photocopy of the title in order to get a vehicle registered or refinanced. It is ridiculous. I sure hope that Stephany S. is correct and once they get our payment, that they release the lien and and title. They are impossible. WESTLAKE FINANCIAL is super shady and unhelpful I went through a DISGUSTING, awful, scamming dealership called PLUG-IN AUTO that also has multiple horrifying reviews. They sold me a car with an oil leak and multiple other issues to the point where the car dies after a few days of sitting because of electrical issues so they had to have known that there was serious issues with the car because it doesn't turn on if it sits for more than a few days. (The car was placed up in the front in a spot blocking other cars, clearly moved to that spot waiting for me because they had to jump it before I came or else I wouldn't have been able to drive it) PLUGIN AUTO closed for scamming and re-opened under a different name. Wow! My car balance was paid off by a toyota dealership because I traded in my vehicle. My account finally reflected the payoff payment a few days ago and also listed the refund due to me.. I just checked my account again today to see if a refund was processed and suddenly my account does not reflect the payment anymore..it disappeared.I called Westlake and the service rep said it shows a payoff was never received..even though the dealership also confirmed the payoff was received. I called the dealership to see if their check bounced and he said no way. Hopefully it is a glitch and I'll still receive the refund I'm due. This is the worst people to finance anything with. Nothing more to say not gonna waste my time explaining why there so bad.

So... spoke to a rep about getting assistance about my payment. Asked if they offered covid 19 assistance. The rep told me they did not and we made arrangement that i would pay $200 that day (20th of april) and i would make the remainder payment on may 8th. I had asked if there would be a late fee and she said there wouldn't. I was a bit satisfied cause i was affected by covid 19 but then i was called by 4 agents about when they were getting their payment. I finally made my payment. 4 days before the said date and when i talked to the rep he said i had a late fee. I specifically ask the previous agent if there would be one. No covid 19 assistance. You harass people about the money. Your agents dont leave notes about what was said. I hope they review the conversation and they correct the mistake. I had no problem making payments until this pandemic. Im going to tell people about this company for years to come. Then again most financial companies are like this. I have sent out my repair check 3 times to them now and each time they do it incorrectly. I need an endorsed guarantee stamp not a regular business stamp. It surprises me that the people who work there do not know what the hell they are doing, they are not educated what so ever and it's been so frustrating having to deal with this. If you ever wondered what it would be like if Fryes Electronics ever did auto financing, welcome to WestLake Financial. To start with their loan origination costs are through the roof, so on a $10,000 loan, expect about $1500 in loan fees. If that wasn't enough fleecing, they pitch their SecureOne Warranty, which isn't worth the paper its written on. Read the fine print, but the warranty doesn't even start until you hit 1000 miles. Once you get above 1000 miles, don't expect them to pay on any claim, first they make it difficult for your auto mechanic to even file a claim (in our case Aamco Transmission). If you manage to file a claim, they will then just tell you that its a pre-existing condition, and go back to the dealer. My advise, use cash or finance through a credit union, as for the SecureOne warranty, I'm in the process of trying to get my warranty refunded. Finally, the only department that answers the phone is sales or billing, so if you're trying to get anyone on the phone, select those options. read more
