Staff was welcoming and helpful when ordering, I got the BEC (bacon, egg, & cheese) on an Everything bagel, it was mid, tasted like all one note, the eggs was overcooked, I should of added hot sauce or something to give it another layer of flavor, the press also burns the sesame seeds on the outside so there's a burnt flavor to the bagel - substitute another bagel and you might not have the same issue. The rating's for the salt bagel. It's just the perfect texture -- crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The owner recommended tiramisu cream cheese to go with it and he's not wrong haha. The sweetness balanced the saltiness well. 100% would go back. The shop's pretty small, has about five seats total. The table's wooden and single seating along the wall. I've been coming to Westmans for years now, as it's right next to my work. My favorite morning treat! Usually it's expected that the jalapeño cheddar bagel sells out fast on Saturdays. Lately it seems they've been ordering more. Yay! Unfortunately, they recently increased the price for this specific bagel and with that they've also started skimping on the cream cheese. My favorite part about just getting a plain bagel and cream cheese is that they've always LOADED it with cream cheese, and it's been heavy. Twice now I've been handed a light as a feather bagel and when I unwrap it there's virtually no cream cheese. Not enough to justify the almost $6 price tag. The service was abysmal. It was impatient, patronizing, and dismissive. I was asking about their summer special, the matcha sunrise, which is orange juice and matcha. I had never heard about that combination and he was extremely annoyed explaining it to me. It was $23 total for 2 drinks. When he called my order, he banged on the window and pointed at the window with a frustrated expression. No amount of "thank you"s and apologies for adjustments to the drink were well received. I tipped 15% and regret my experience. I understand coffee orders get complicated and customers can be demanding, but customer service should be consistent. This spot was such a yummy breaky spot, we went here twice during our trip. We both got the B.E.C Classic on an everything bagel and molted salt bagel. After chompin on the flavorful bagel it has inspired us to try and make it at home(it was that good). They offer hot sauce in your bagel for .50¢ extra and a variety of bagels. The food is made to order and the eggs were super fluffy and creamy with the cheese and bacon. This place is a tiny spot on the side of a building with limited booth seating and parking was relatively easy to find around the area. Thankfully when we went, there was no line or wait. Overall, we recommend trying this place at least once. read more

Why do people love this place so much? The bagel was super dense and kind of chalky. Having lived in NYC for over a decade, maybe this is what bagels are like elsewhere? Waited 20 mins in a 6 person line to order, then waited 20 more mins before checking in - my order was never prepared. They said they would fire it up right away - 15 more mins later (an hour after getting there!) I finally had my hard block of a bagel. I went here once last year and really liked it, so this morning I placed an online order for a jalapeño bagel with scallion cream cheese pick up with the intention of grabbing it right before work. When you order online it says go to the "Pick Up and Delivery side", but there wasn't a sign and only one register/line, so I waited in that. Even though it was past my pick up time, they had not started it because I guess the online ordering system doesn't hook up properly to their POS or something? I don't really know, but I do know that I spent an extra 15% on my order to place it online just to wait longer after getting there, which isn't awesome. (Note to the owners: if your online ordering system doesn't work, don't force your employees to use it! It's clearly as much a hassle for them as it is for the customer.) If it had been a spectacular bagel that would've been one thing, but it was really mediocre and...bready? Soft? I can definitely appreciate a bagel that's tough on the outside and soft on the inside, but this one was just...mushy, and kind of cold, and the cream cheese just made it worse. Maybe they were trying to rush it and opted not to toast it the full time or something if that's not ally how they do it, but I only got through half of before having to toss it because the texture was so unappealing. Not a $7 I'd spend again. The employees seemed nice though! And while the BECs seem a little rich for my blood at $12, they smelled good & even for a walk-up window that price is kind of par for the course on the hill these days, so I'd maybe try that if I came back. I could go on about why the 1-star reviews here for "long wait times," "unfriendly staff," and "bad bagels" are ridiculous, but I'll focus on what I love about this little shop instead. Their bagels are GOOD, they're made from scratch. They're thick - quite the oppose of Eltana, which serves up razor thin, dry, bagels down the street. But the magic here? The magic is in the bagel sandwiches. Two chefs scramble up the inside of your sandwich right in front of you. Yes, you're going to wait for your meal here. Pull up a stool. If the alternative is a frozen egg patty on a store-bought bagel which describes MOST of the bagel sandwiches on the hill....I'll gladly wait at Westman's. I recommend a BEC (bacon egg cheese) on a plain bagel (or something unique like Za'atar if that's your thing!) and add some housemade schmear if you like it messy. No indoor seating, but it suits the hole-in-the-wall (literally) vibe. Give this Latinx woman-owned baked-from-scratch-Daily bagel shop a try. You won't regret it. read more

I was pretty excited to try this place after seeing some New Yorkers recommend it in the reviews. I am also a native New Yorker and my bottom line is: is it as good as NYC bagels? No. Is it better than other bagel shops in Seattle? Probably. We got the nova lox and the BEC ( bacon, egg & cheese) on everything bagels. The BEC bagel was toasted while the nova lox bagel, to my disappointment, was not. A warm bagel makes all the difference! Even if your toppings are cold, I firmly believe the bagel should not be. This resulted in my bagel being chewier and less enjoyable to eat. The everything bagel also was too heavy on the salt. The nova lox had way too much going on - herb and caper aioli that dripped everywhere, picked red onions (I prefer non pickled white onions which is more traditional and a suggestion to the staff), cucumbers. It took away from the nova lox, which should be the highlight. The simple BEC bagel is what elevates my review from 3 to 4 stars. This was tasty, comforting and pretty easy to eat. I found it strange that you have to pay more to get this sandwich on a bagel when you're buying from a bagel shop...? Next time, I'd opt to go for the everyday basic lox. I also enjoyed my lavender mocha which was a seasonal special. read more

A solid 3.5ish Swung by at the end of the day on I think a Friday, and luckily only 2 others were in front of the line. Got an order in pretty quickly, and waited about 10 min for the bagels. If you dont see the bagel you want out front on display they'll probably have it available in the back. Now on to the good stuff on what we tried: 3 Lox Sandwiches on Everything Bagels: That dill shmear/spread whatever you want to call it was pretty damn fire. Filled with dill for all you dill lovers! The salmon was solid too. The only downfall here was the bagel itself. While the top of the bagel was pretty good it was apparent at how hard the bottom of the bagel was when the person prepping the bagel couldnt cut all the way through it themselves, so the bottom of the bagel itself was pretty damn hard. That kinda caused the whole lox to spill out from the bagel and into the paper it came in. Still damn tasty and worth a get, but the hardness of that bagel was hard to look past. 1 Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel w Scallion Spread/Shmear: Now while the lox was filled w dill this one weirdly didnt have much scallion in it. Was hoping to get the New York Feels like Best Bagels being packed with scallion, but it was weirdly lacking compared to how much dill was in the lox. The Jalapeno Cheddar bagel was pretty damn good tho, BUT again the bottom of that bagel was super hard too. Overall its probably one of the better bagel spots in Seattle, so definitely give it a try, and hopefully they work out the issue with the bagels being so hard on the bottom half. food: 5 service: 4.5 ambiance: 4.5 i've tried many bagels in this city, and i've concluded that i personally like westman's bagels the best! they've got a wide variety of bagels- salt, everything, jalapeno cheddar (my personal fav, its generous on the jalapeno and SPICY!), pumpernickel, and a few others. they also have several schmears and rotating seasonal ones that change every so often. i also really like their different sandwiches, especially the bec (bacon, egg, and cheese) which you can put on a bagel of your choice. i've tried their dill schmesr and whitefish salad too, and it's all pretty darn good! the bagels themselves are big and not toooo chewy and not toooo soft, just right! but you do have to go pretty early, they start getting busy and running out around noon especially on weekends!!! the pricing isn't too bad fir the bagels (and schmear) itself but if you get their sandwiches it can cost you $10+! (but it's worth it!!!!) the staff was quick and efficient but i could tell they were busy, the barista was multi tasking making drinks and running the register, but friendly enough. there's not very much seating, only about 3 seats along their skinny table and a few stools scattered outside, but there is a small park/area a few steps down the street where you can find benches/ping pong table to use as a makeshift table. read more

First time at Westman's and it has quickly become my new favorite bagel place. Honestly, after a handful of bagels in NY this summer, I think this one may have topped them all. I got a BEC on a plain bagel and added scallion cream cheese. By the time I got there, just past 11 am, the bagel selections were very limited. By the time I left, they were out of bagels for the day so I'd suggest getting there early especially on a weekend. I'm don't usually enjoy plain bagels, but holy crap, this one was amazing. Crispy outside and a perfectly soft fluffy inside and surprisingly amazing taste. The soft scrambled eggs were the star of the show, and the bacon being chopped instead of in strips makes a huge difference. The added shmear was delectable as well. Can't speak on their coffee or lox, but will have to try it at some point. Based on my experience, I have a good feeling about it the rest of their menu. Really like this sidewalk stop! Bagel texture is perfectly dense with a good chew. We got there around 1:30 on a Sunday, and they were out of salt and pumpernickel, so we chose pumperthing for the nova lox sandwich and plain for the other lox sandwich on the menu. Both were excellent! My partner wished for a little more from the regular lox sandwich, but I was pretty happy with it. Could be worth adding one of the extra items in the future to jazz it up. I added hot sauce to the nova lox and would recommend. The hot sauce is less sharp and reminds me more of a barbecue hot sauce, some sweetness in there but balanced the sandwich pretty well. The dill schmear is crazy and super infused with dill. There aren't any pickles on the sandwich itself, but the dill Ajmer's with the fresh cucumbers convinced me there was (a big plus for me since I'm a pickle fiend). The americano was also really good and I would get again. My partner got a cold brew and seemed happy with that as well. We are our sandwiches in the park right next door while gazing at the most sustainable building in the world! We decided to go back after finishing our sandwiches to pick up some bagels and lox schmear. These held up really well and the lox schmear is amazing. Their egg sandwiches look super yummy so I really want to try these as well. One thing to note this is definitely a pickup and dine elsewhere kind of place so don't expect to come and stay for a while. As I mentioned before though, there is a park right next door so you can do a little picnic there. Just something to keep in mind if you're looking for more of a cafe vibe. I actually really liked the small sidewalk stop energy though. Finally the service was awesome, we were even given extra day olds when we came back to get our bagels for the week.
