I asked them to choose the bagel for me and he chose the Salted Rosemary bagel. Honestly, it is not a bagel I would have chosen. But in this case, it worked with the other ingredients. I love a good bagel place and it's especially hard for me to find one outside of New York / Long Island. (It's OK... call me a bagel snob.). My hotel staff member told me to try Rubensteins which was a short walk so my wife and I had to give it a try! They had an extensive choice of bagel and spreads. I decided to get the sea salt bagel for myself and my wife did the everything. They bagels smelled great and while I don't normally have my toasted, the team member suggested I did. So... I had a toasted sea-salt bagel with salmon cream cheese. My wife had butter on an everything. We waited for a few mintues at their very nice seating area! It's clean, bright, and comfortable. They called our name and we picked up our breakfast. Not a New York bagel but tasty with a nice spread of topping. A good cup of coffee rounded it out and we enjoyed. I stopped by Rubinstein's since I was in the area, needed food, and they seemed to have some interesting flavors of bagels and schmear. I ordered a rosemary bagel with truffle schmear. They warned me as I placed the order that they charge an automatic 18% gratuity (and they had signs too) which...is fine but that's not "gratuity" anymore? Just increase the price? But regardless, I paid close to $6 for my single bagel with schmear and stood by to wait. It probably took around 10 min for them to get my bagel out, which is longer than I expected. I took a seat in their very comfortable and cozy eating space. And the bagel was good! The schmear was very very truffle flavored, which was exactly what I wanted. And the scent of rosemary was really strong, and the rosemary and salt flavor of the bagel were great, though there were pockets of a ton of salt just to beware. Overall a solid bagel, probably as good as I've found West of the Mississippi, but definitely a steep price for it! read more

Yikes. This bagel spot is pricey and we're not quite sure why. The bagels are truly nothing special. They say they're made fresh, but it doesn't taste anything different than what you'd eat out of a 6-pack of bagels from Costco. You'll spend less at Blazing Bagels or Einstein Bros a few blocks away. Trust me, they're just as good - if not, slightly better. And not terribly overpriced. Better yet- I'd try Hey Bagel if you're in the UW area. Don't get me wrong, though. I get it. They charge more because they can. It's an Ethan Stowell restaurant, it's in SLU - Amazon land, and it's below an apartment building. read more

Small clean shop. If memory serves me correct, there is a counter that faces you out the window as the only dine in option. There is a beverage cooler. The place has not been busy times I've visited but there have been times within an hour of closing that they are out, so it helps to make an online order if you want an afternoon bagel. Service has tended to be younger, not overly or underly friendly - straightforward. They have an assortment of nice sounding flavors, cacio e Pepe and Rosemary always stand out to me. I've only been here a few times and kind of forget my experience then come back, but overall it's clearly not satisfying enough to stick in my mind. My experience echoes most everyone else. There is a nice savory and doughy flavor but these bagels are very dense. Taking a bite it feels as if my teeth want to slide along the edge rather than sink in. I do really like their chorizo on the breakfast bagel! I can't say I won't be back, because every now and then I have a hankering for a bagel, this place is convenient and it's not a craving I take too seriously. However, I've had much better bagels and some day will get the motivation to check out the Seattle bagel scene. read more

I love a good bagel place so when I was that rubensteins was just near the Amazon office I had to give it a try! I decided to get a bagel for a friend and myself. They bagels smelled great and the line gave me hope! The spreads and topping options were also great but sadly the bagel it self was so TOUGH. I had bite of bagel right away and it already felt like I was chewing quite a while. The bagel I took to my friend was eaten a bit later and felt completely hard. I hope this won't be my experience next time I'm around! Maybe New York bagels are supposed to be tough? Definitely not what I was hoping for :( read more

The wait has become really long in the mornings - I waited 25 minutes for an egg sandwich on a bagel the other day. I saw Rubinstein Bagels at Via 6 Apartments, just across from the Spheres, so figured the location couldn't be better. Rubinstein Bagels is a casual eatery located in the lobby level of an apartment building. When I came here for a late lunch on a weekday, the place was quiet, with only two other individuals dining in, so had plenty of seating to choose from. I asked the employee about the duck fat matzo ball soup because I had never had matzo ball soup, but it sounded delicious. He mentioned that the soup had chicken with handmade dough balls. But when I attempted to order it, the kitchen staff let the cashier know they were sold out for the day. Darn, next time! So instead I ordered the turkey lunch sandwich with the jalapeno cheddar bagel, which was delicious! The bagel sandwich was stacked with turkey, arugula, tomato, red onion and a huckleberry-tarragon mayo. I loved how spicy the bagel was from the fresh jalapenos diced in the bread and the huckleberry-tarragon mayo complemented the turkey. I would totally order this again! read more

Legit bagels at Rubenstein Bagels. They're boiled then baked, no rolls with holes here. Consistency is great - crispy on the outside, doughy in the middle. Size is slightly smaller than in NY but every bit as tasty. Tried a bacon egg and cheese on sesame. Egg perfect, bacon crisp, cheese melty, bagel buttered. What more can you ask for? This place specializes in sourdough bagel, which is quite unique. I preordered on Sunday morning which is kinda useless because you'll still need to wait in the same line as others, just you skip the time to wait for the food, and it was very busy. Also I was supposed to get a text that my order is ready to be picked up but didn't - good thing I came on time because my order has been sitting in the counter for some time. This was a poor customer experience but otherwise, the bagels here are pretty good. I got the rosemary salt bagel (with butter) and cacio e pepe (with black truffle spread). It's definitely more than buying bagels in a grocery store but it's also good value for brunch, though it's a lot of bread. I was pretty hungry so I got two, but just one plus coffee would suffice for a good breakfast. I got them both toasted which is nice, though you should consume immediately because it turns to cardboard texture very fast. There's a small window of 15 min before that happens, and in that small window, the bagel is very good. What stood out are the different spreads and the different varieties of bagels that you otherwise won't see in a standard bagel shop here (you'll see more common ones like plain and everything bagel). read more

It pains me to give a 2 star review for what's supposed to be the best bagels in Seattle, especially since the extra star is for the super nice staff. Maybe it was an off day & I hope it was. I've been wanting to try Rubinstein's for the past couple of years, and was near their South Lake Union shop, so stopped in to pick up a few. This was at 11:00 am, so the bagels should still be pretty fresh. And also, I've lived in NYC-so really do know a great bagel. But here's the deal- the bagels I bought are harder than they should be, like in a maybe they were over baked kind of way. And the texture as I'm chewing it is a bit pasty, like maybe this batch of the dough was under proofed? Not the good kind of chewy that bagels are supposed be. So I'm guessing/hoping this was an off day. Because these bagels definitely wouldn't be on any best list. And at the price Rubinstein charges, they should be pretty darned perfect. read more

Consistently disappointed by this place and its continued decline in service, presentation and pricing. I return time and time again hoping for a different experience and am reminded why I stayed away. Due to egg supply issues, they're using liquid eggs. In doing so, you'd think they could ensure the egg going onto your sandwich was actually large enough to cover the entire bagel. When I asked for a recommendation, she referred me to the menu. I ordered a bagel with fried onion and chive cream cheese. The bagel was nice and chewy and cream cheese was fine, but didn't pack the onion flavor I was hoping for. Also, they don't serve drip coffee here which I think is odd, since I don't want to fill up on a milky latte after I have a carb filled breakfast. The bagel was good, but service horrible.
