This was my first visit to this Toasted location, and I loved it. The natural light, plants, and upstairs/downstairs seating make it feel really welcoming. The staff were kind and the service was quick. I came to try the zaatar bagel sandwich, and the flavors were so nostalgic, they remind me of meals I share with my Middle Eastern family. The bagel was fresh, warm, and delicious. My cold brew was great too. My husband, a New Yorker with high bagel standards, was impressed as well! We're impressed by the quality and taste. I am a big bagel fan, so I was a bit bummed when Toasted didn't live up to the hype. Toasted is a cool bagel shop with an open-air space, lots of natural light, and seating downstairs and in an upstairs loft space. We ordered a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese and an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The sesame bagel arrived with scallion cream cheese instead of the requested plain. I decided to just roll with it, but it's not what we ordered. It was well toasted and tasty. I enjoyed the texture of the bagel. Upon the first bite of the everything bagel, it was incredibly burnt. The "toasted" aspect of Toasted bagels was a bit overdone. Very disappointing, we ended up just eating a few bites of it. The service was ok. Not the friendliest of employees, and, obviously, there could be some improvement in taking orders accurately and preparing food with attention to detail. Great place to stop in for a morning bagel. Also one of the only places open early for food. The selection of bagels and cream cheese is more limited than I'm used to, but the green onion on jalapeño cheddar was pretty good as well as the roast beef. Service was quick and the seating upstairs is quite nice. The main issue I had was as it got busier the seating area up top got very smokey due to the toasted bagels down below. His was pretty good, but the everything bagel was incredibly stale. I had such a hard time bitting the bagel apart that by the end of eating, my teeth hurt. I read some reviews mentioning that they had a happy hour starting at 2 PM, so I went there expecting that. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out they didn't actually have a happy hour. Nevertheless, I ordered the Taste of Istanbul with a sesame bagel and a Spanish latte. The ambience was okay; however, the seating on the main level was very uncomfortable. The bagel was good overall, though the pickled onions were too overwhelming and I had to remove some to better enjoy the hummus and cucumber. Once adjusted, the bagel was tasty and enjoyable. The highlight was definitely the Spanish latte it was excellent, not as sweet as I expected, and it complemented the bagel really well. I also loved the glass it was served in. I'm always here to support a muslim owned business if i have the opportunity, but there are some cafes that rely too much on identity politics/hype and don't actually have good food/drinks. So anyway, I went to toasted and I will be back again! The pumpkin pie latte was actually so fricken good. I asked for half sweet with whole milk and it was perfect. It wasn't overly cinnamon-y like some PSLs can be. Very well balanced and actually tastes like pumpkin pie. The bagels were good too. Nothing revolutionary, I have to be honest, but the flavor combinations are unique (i.e. date and labneh) and worth trying. My only critique would be to toast them a little less. They were pretty crispy haha. Parking - the SLU location is mostly street parking Seating - fair number of seats in their loft space, but it can get busy on weekend mornings. I came around lunch time and there was a good number of people here but we were still able to find a spot to sit. I really like how they have loft seating! As an East Coaster, my default for bagels is not toasted. The first time we came here, I didn't toast my bagel. It was practically inedible. I think my jaw is still sore from the experience. Today, we came back and I tried my bagel toasted (I mean, that is their name, after all). It was BURNT. So I still can't even tell you if it's a good bagel or not. Second, for being in a location like Seattle, the lox are shockingly poor quality. Nasty. I actually had to spit out the salmon because it was that bad. Also, the toppings are so exorbitantly priced that I ended up getting the basic build-your-own sandwich and putting the toppings on myself at home. If I'm already spending over $10 on a basic bagel, I don't necessarily want to add another $6 for tomato, avocado, and capers. I tried to give this place a second chance, and I fear I was once again let down. Will not be giving it a third chance. Yet another disappointing Seattle bagel shop. P.S. Very surprised to find a spot with great coffee AND delicious food! I ordered an iced Spanish latte and a turkey BEC bagel sandwich for a total of $18, which seems pretty standard in terms of cost in the area. The bagel sandwich actually surpassed my expectations, it was filleddddd and so yummy! I'm still thinking about it and I'd probably go back to try more of them! The barista who took the order was fantastic and very friendly. She even brought my food over to me where I was waiting. The drinks were perfect as well. The issue happened in the kitchen. I'm allergic to sesame and dairy, which I shared when I ordered. I double checked the receipt and the barista confirmed my order too. When I opened my bagel, unfortunately it was an everything bagel (has sesame) not a plain one, even though the receipt said plain. I'm also afraid that if they mixed up the bagel in the kitchen that the cream cheese isn't the vegan one I ordered as well. It was really disappointing to pay for something that I can't eat so I would recommend them for the drinks but not the bagels unfortunately if they're mixing up orders in the kitchen like that.
