Apparently, Medi-cal patients are a waste of time and not worth the effort, as well as not worth the money. They're discriminating against Medi-cal patients and are now forcing them to find different dentists. Many individuals rely on Medi-Cal for essential healthcare services, and denying them dental care based solely on their insurance creates a significant access barrier.  It's disheartening to see Westminster Dental seemingly prioritize financial gain over the well-being of patients in need. I originally really did love this place. I had finally found a place that I was extremely happy and comfortable with. I have a lot of anxieties when it comes to dentists due to being yelled at, mocked, slapped, and hit by previous dentists. I grew up in the 90s, so surprisingly, it was a thing back then. Anyways, I had been coming here for about 2 years or so, give or take. Everyone there became family. Painfully, Dr. Sam Morcos did pass away. Everyone who knew him has been grieving and aching since then, including myself. He was a hell of a gentleman. I loved telling him dad jokes and trying to find the exact ones he appreciated the most. I would tell him occasionally ones that would appear a tad bit mean. It was so funny how he would just look at me, gasp, and playfully scold me. His laughter, joy, and personality were contagious. His smile was infectious. The principles he set forth were that it was going to be all about the patient's. Not the money. Whatever the patient needed, he would always, always, try to go above and beyond and get whatever done that was necessary to better help the patient. I am forever grateful to him for what he had been able to do for me. He did become a father figure in some aspects. I was going thru a lot at the time when I first saw him. His practice was amazing, highly skilled, and talented towards comforting anxious patients. So now, after his passing, the once family oriented place, now has become a very sour subject. I'm an individual who hasn't worked for the past 2 1/2 years due to some major underlying health conditions I didn't know I had. So I've been on medi-cal due to my health concerns, and I'm trying to get figured out. My eventual, hopeful plan is being able to go back to work and have a better quality of life. I had asked Angeline, a front desk representative, one, one very simple question, to which Angeline had treated with condescension. The question was, "If you guys do decide not to treat medi-cal patients anymore, is the office going to notify the medi-cal patients?" Westminster dental is now seemingly saying that they've wasted too much time trying to fight with Denti-cal to continue seeing Medi-cal patients. Tamara, the overseer of patient management, and her daughter, Angeline, have both echoed that. As well as saying specifically from Angeline, that they wouldn't be making enough money off of Medi-cal patients. Angeline had given me an example of saying, "For example, let's say a regular filling would cost $200, but for a Medi-cal patient, Denti-cal would only pay $60. We also have hundreds and hundreds of Medi-cal patients" To which she responded after having told me countless times how many Medi-cal patients they had within a 7 min 6 second phone call. "I don't think you fully grasp or understand how many Medi-cal patients we have Cera, that it would have to be explained one by one, and it would take too much time and effort notifying everyone" Now, let's keep it respectful. While I understand the complexities of managing a dental practice, prioritizing financial gain over serving the community, Dr. Sam Morcos cherished is a stark departure from his legacy. While I also understand the challenges of running a dental practice, speaking to a patient that way isn't professional in any capacity. First off, I am not daft, unintelligent, self-absorbed, unempathetic, unsympathetic, or an incompassionate person. Don't patronize me or treat/speak to patients like they're inferior in any regard. I understand how many Medi-cal patients they have. I also understand how many non medi-cal patients they have. So they're happily, grotesquely, greedily all about the money now and punishing medi-cal patients for having illnesses, being low income, not having better insurance, and not having a better paying job. Dr. Sam Morcos had kept it balanced to where they were still able to get the necessary money to keep their doors open while also making sure his employees were able to put dinner on their tables. So pardon my French, but how is that continuing the legacy that Dr. Sam Morcos created to set him apart from everyone else? How is that doing right by him? How is that treating patients fairly? Here is my honest thoughts and review. My story is my experience and it's only to inform others. I'm in pain right now after one molar fill days before thanksgiving 2024 ! The procedure took 45 mins for just one filling and after the numbing wore off it felt odd. I would get a discomforting sharp pain shooting down when I chew on that side of the mouth on anything :( gum, steak ,chips). Compromised when I eat. I called days after to ask and they said to come in and they would fix the uneven bite assuming that could be the issue. (Drove back) The fix did help a little when biting down but again days after that the discomfort is STILL there when I eat. I'm starting to think they messed up on the filling Bz I go in to the dentist every 4 months for a teeth clean/ check up and your telling me after all the X-rays and check ins that they waited this long just to address this when it could of be nip in the butt months ago. Anyways I called the front desk and told them that my problem didn't go away but Bz the front desk isn't the doctor she can only assume that the cavity is too deep that it could now be a root canal and crown situation but if that was the case why wait this long to work on this cavity ? just do the filling then instead of waiting 8 months out to work on a deeper filling to now tell me it could be a worst senerio of root canal/ crown. Now I'm worried on spending more money on that same tooth they just worked on. Yes even with insurance I still pay a portion out of pocket . And I guess the front desk couldn't ask the doctor who was in for the day. I'll just have to wait and find out my next visit in Dec 12, 2024 to get seen and talk to the dentist doctor. Mind you they noted from the beginning of the browning or staining of that tooth since the first site of it . X-rays and all with Notes to keep an eye on that tooth that potentially would become a cavity . Literally 2 cleaning later did I officially get an appointment date to come back for both of my fillings to be worked on but tell me why when the day finally arrives the dentist only worked on one cavity . I wanted both to be done and over with what was promised prior visit .So here i am with only one filling and pain and the other cavity is just waiting there .
