I LOVE YOU SHUN PHAT SUPERMARKET !!!! I love this place, it is amazing !! As a chef this place truly does inspire me, it is a field trip, my candy store for all produce, and seafood dreams and ideas come true. Everything is relatively inexpensive, it is huge, lots of room to move your cart, no one is smacking me in the face with lobster, and there is a lot of parking space on the lot. They keep it clean, and believe me I have been to many Asian markets in Westminster and they are for the most part pretty dirty, and over crowded. This is a great grocery store to get your Asian groceries, seafood, fruits and vegetables. It's pretty big and clean for an Asian grocery store minus the carts which are filthy (I wish they'd offer sanitizing wipes!) You can get hard to find vegetables for cheap. For example shitake mushrooms, portobello mushrooms, thai coconuts, several types of chilies and basil are all 30-60% cheaper than any other grocery store. The quality varies, but for the most part is great. On to the seafood - it is fresh and cheap. You can buy halibut for $5 a pound. Dong Phuong Tofu is delivered fresh, it's still warm when you pick it up. You can find it at the end of the vegetable section, it has its own case. The major con here is how long it takes to checkout - expect a 20 minute wait at least. Everyone in line has entire cartfuls of grocery and they NEVER keep the express line open. read more

This Vietnamese supermarket used to be a go to for fresh produce and seafood but not anymore. It seems that the store has trouble restocking its produce. Quick walk through the aisles and I noticed lots of molded produce, mostly molded squashes, yams. Lots of vegetables look like nearing their expiration date. Pickled section smells funny. And their seafood section, used to offer a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood, now looking very questionable. The overall feel once you walk in is...dead. Some shelves are empty, it's quiet, the employees seem like they can't wait to get out. Mind you this is a big supermarket so it really felt to me as if this business was doing poorly. I went to other supermarkets right before they closed and Thuan Phat certainly comes off as at the brink of bankruptcy. In my opinion, the decline has only happened recently but who knows maybe I wasn't paying enough attention. Anyhow, the pros for me are convenient location right of the freeway and the wide selection of products. I hope to see this supermarket improve but only time will show read more

I called to check if they were still selling the crab in the location of San Gabriel. The reception was so rude. She told me that I have to come to the store to check it out. She wasn't gonna check out out for me because she such a lazy ass, and then she hung me up! so rude!!!! bad customer service!!! Great deals and a great diversity of produce. They must have like 15 different types of bok choi! If you want to save money on coconuts, buy them here for $9 case. That averages to $1 a coconut, where whole foods down the street charges $3/per. Some of their produce may not look as good as produce found at the big chain stores, but who cares? read more

In addition to the excellent market we really like the sushi just inside the main entrance. Our preferred take out sushi place. 2 boxes, 6 each, for $6 or $8. We prefer them to make us 2 all tuna and 2 all California roll while we shop. They do not slice the tuna really thin. In fact if in the area we will stop in for the sushi only. Its that good. They have good selection of already made ups. Make what you order takes about 5 minutes if not busy. Cash only. read more

I live in South Orange County. I go out of my way to this market for fresh Thai coconuts & Durian only. I called to ask for a price check on box coconuts and they WOULD NOT TELL ME. They absolutely refused, asserting that it was their policy to not tell customers the price over the phone. The woman insisted that she would get in trouble with her manager if she did so. Though I love this market usually for their great deals on produce not found at conventional grocers, occasionally I drive all the way up there to find out that for some unknown reason (perhaps seasonality?) the price is two or three times what it normally is and I could have saved myself the trouble by just getting what I needed at a local store that while being slightly more pricey, was at least close to my house. I have to ask, Thuan Phat, what is the purpose of non-disclosure of your prices other than discouraging free-market competition and profiting from the occasional price gouging & ripping off of your customers?! BE AWARE... THEY WILL STEAL YOUR CASH !!!! I gave a cashier a $20 bill to buy a product about $4.50. She gave me back about $.50. I told her that I gave her a $20 bill. She said that she bunched in the register $5 so I must had given her $5. I told her that I took two $20 bills from my other purse from home. I gave her one bill and one bill left in my hand. She argued with me that I didn't give her the $20 bill. The manager came and asked her to count the money in her tray. She wouldn't count the money in front of me, she brought it to the back table to count. She came back and said that no extra money was left. The manager said that she would go and review the tape from the camera. After about half an hour, she came back and said that she couldn't read the bill from the tape. What did they have to hide that they couldn't count the money in front of me? As a manager, how could she not know that they couldn't read dollar bills from the tape? She doesn't know what's going on in her store? I filed a complaint. Their response was that they did enough. There were only a few cents left when the money was counted. If there was a few cents left, how can the cashier wasn't honest enough to tell me that there was a few cents left instead of no extra money left? I responded to their response. They responded back that this wasn't my first time. How absurd it is to accuse other people with something else to get away from stealing money from other people. To get the fact straight, this was my first time that this ever happened to me. It is very wrong to steal money from other people!!! read more

Wow I've never seen aisles this wide or clean or a produce area so full and clean before. Prices aren't as cheap as some of the other places I like and some of the fruit was sub-par. However, overall this place is great. They have a great variety of everything. read more

Happy shopping here. Most items are marked with the English names for things. A few were not. Like Chinese broccoli was a vietnamese name listed so I had to ask the "Mexican" produce guy who was helpful. Largest cleanest store I've seen. Soy milk and freshly packaged noodles are on the shelves near the produce aisles. Saw some older white people scampering about amounts the semi- rude impatient Vietnamese men waiting in line. Figured they would soon be speeding out of the parking lot in full traffic soon and causing an accident. read more

Worst produce ever. Always find what I need with fungus growing. Fish department doesn't look fresh. Although it's a huge market place, it doesn't have almost everything! Had to make a pit stop after shopping here the other day to finish my shopping list. I prefer 99 Ranch over this market. I'd come back for certain items that I can trust will be there. read more

Plenty of supplies of Asian food but the overall environment is dirty and some of the fruits are rotten. Sometimes they also sell expired food (Japanese curry) so be sure to check the expiration date before buying. The worst part of this supermarket is that they always play loud music that is extremely annoying and can cause headache---it makes people feel like they have entered a cheap, low quality music store instead of a supermarket, which is a nightmare for shopping. read more

im not go to the supermarket much but when i do i usually come here. They have the best prices for live seafood, vegetables and i can find everything that i need in here. The best thing is fresh coconut. It s cheep, nothing is better than having a fresh drink after a long day of work and study :D read more

So glad to find this place after our local 99 Ranch Market went out of business. Now I know why I 99 Ranch Market didn't make it! This place is my favorite Asian market by far! Clean and fresh ton of good produce. My only criticism is that I don't buy rice in the ginormous bags and their selection with the smaller bags was very minimal. In fact I could not buy my short grain rice for sushi. I could not find it. read more

Making a pilgrimage to this store has become a favorite weekend pastime for my husband and me. It's a wonderland! We never fail to find something amazing. We were inspired to buy some salmon heads that we made into a soup that I'll definitely be trying again. A package of frozen squid for $.99 and frozen mangosteens are among our other favorite finds. We found quail eggs and now regularly pickle them. The produce is awesome-- tons of variety and fabulous prices. There's essentially no way to come here and not go on a culinary adventure of some kind. read more

This is my to go store for Asian grocery and seafood. Relative to the other Asian grocery stores, its easy to park your car here. The aisles are wide and clean. Selection of dried goods, Asian spice mix, and Asian flours are plentiful. Seafood is reasonably priced with with live crabs, lobsters, and fish. The produce/vegetable section is large. Oh, there's also a sushi take out, a US post office, a tailor, a beef jerky shop, and a few miscellaneous independent shops inside the store. read more

Love, love, love this store! I come here for mostly Asian produce and meats. Being Caucasian, when I first started coming here, I was intimidated because I didn't know what a lot of the things were or how they were used. I was mostly ignored by the staff and I didn't get the customer service I am used to at other markets. BUT... now that I have been there a few times, I always smile at the cashiers or the stockers and say "Hello!" or "Good Morning" - whatever. I say something to initiate a conversation. That thaws the ice. As for the meat counter, well, they're men. I always smile. I'm always nice. And being men, it helps to stroke their fragile egos a bit with "I'd like xxxxx, which one do you think looks best?". That always gets 'em. But you must realize that this is not Nordstrom's. You don't come here for customer service. You come here for good prices and specialty items. read more

Hi, After reading everyone's reviews, guess there's many people who enjoys shopping at this supermarket. I once did too. However after yesterday's encounter, I would have to say I will never come back to this market ever again. Let me tell you why, the cashier who rung me up, charged me for a piece of fillet mignon, but didn't put it in my bags. So when I went out to my car, I checked my bags, didn't see the meat, went back in to confront, and the manager of the store said, once you walk out of the market they are not responsible for any missing items. Can you believe it? They put all of my bags in the cart, I walked from the store to the parking lot, checked my items, didn't see it, and when I went back in they denied missing any items. Can you believe it? That's what? About 5 mins difference from the time I paid to the time I walked to the car? So when someone comes into their store, steals some food, that's called shoplifting. So when the store steals from you, what do you call that? From yesterday's experience, I suggest that if you are to ever go to this market, make sure you look at all of your items there in front of the cashier before you walk out, or better yet, there's plenty of choices for Vietnamese markets to shop at from Garden Grove to Westminster.
