Instead of focusing on the specific tooth we were concerned about, unnecessary x-rays were taken. Tyler then told me she had multiple cavities. When I explained that I only wanted to address the tooth we came in for, he replied, "If that's what you want to do, you're going against my recommendations and you can take her elsewhere." Tyler, a few things: 1. Patients have the right to choose how they proceed with treatment. Your job is to inform, not pressure or dismiss. 2. A problem-focused exam does not mean a full set of x-rays and a comprehensive evaluation--especially without clear consent. I've been in dentistry for 19 years, and I've never had a provider speak to a patient like that. The only reason I agreed to proceed was because my daughter won't be back in Houston for another month. Otherwise, we would have left immediately. Disappointing, unprofessional, and not how you treat concerned parents or pediatric patients.

I'm a Flight Attendant and it's hard to call and not get interrupted and have to call back. They have a "Text" system in place that's not robotic at all; their staff actually will reply and have a conversation with you via text which has always been a huge plus for me. Before my eldest turned 17, I had 3 children receiving treatment at this location. They always made it so that I could have them come in same day, back to back, or even have 2 go at the same time depending on the type appointment/treatment. In addition, the care they provide is top tier. They are very transparent and help you with everything. They send you an email with the most in depth details of treatment, after care, and everything you need for your records. In addition, its forms you can read and understand, they don't use their medical language and confuse you and have you on Google searching every other word. They also have this thing they do where they'll give you coins afterwards to reward great behavior and the kids can take their coin and go buy a little toy from their super cool little play room area. The office is clean and cute pediatric friendly environment. The decor is cute and not too much. They have street parking which I've never had an issue with. There's stores and banking institutions on the same street, they offer Wi-Fi too. They are great with rescheduling but be sure to reschedule within a timely manner. Two of my youngest had to have a procedure at the ages of 5 & 6. They had to have anesthesia administered and the procedure was a couple of hours for them both. My children talk about it to this day because they think it's funny that they were having a conversation with their dental team and just fell asleep and didn't even know they had any work done. They kept my children there for about an hour and half after each procedure to make sure that their procedure and recovery went well. This was done on a Friday. On Saturday morning, I received a call from Dr. Mcdonald checking on them and making sure they were still doing good. I then received a call from the anesthesiologist, Dr. Kim to follow up as well. 3 of my children have been seeing Dr. McDonald over the past years and recently my oldest was referred to a adult dental office after turning 17. Myself and my 17 yr old had a horrible experience recently with another practice and it just reminded me of how much I wish he could've just continued to come here. When you get the best of the best, you are caught off when your treat like less elsewhere. My only con is they are pediatric only and don't take patients over 16/17. My only advice/suggestion would be to notify patients a year prior to them no longer being of age to receive treatment; because the bar is set high with you guys and we're jaw dropped and caught off guard when other practices don't live up to yours or maybe just maybeeeee look into adding services for adults too. It is okay to be busy, it is okay to not accept new patients. But if you are so busy that you can not even call back a possible client or patient, that is not okay. Hire more staff, obviously you need it. After moving to West Seattle, I notice that this is a theme in the area with medical and dental offices.

Poor professionalism…read more I am a patient at Sorensen Orthodontics (West Seattle, WA) with a braces treatment plan. During my care (from March to present), I raised concerns about how my teeth were shifting on two occasions. The first time, Travis provided a solution I was satisfied with. The second time, however, instead of addressing my questions with patience, and actually listening, the orthodontist referred to them as a "laundry list of complaints," spoke over me, and was dismissive when I tried to ask about possible solutions that would make me feel more comfortable.. When I pointed out the lack of professionalism and patience, his "solution" was to remove my braces entirely and he even called me "aggressive." I left the appointment feeling unheard, disrespected, and rushed out of my own treatment plan. Good orthodontic care should include clear communication, respect, and patience with clients -- unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and I will be discontinuing treatment before completion. On a positive note, the assistants have been absolutely AMAZING. Ashley, in particular, took the time to explain things thoroughly and clearly -- she did the job I had expected of Travis Sorensen.

Travis Sorensen blew off my concerns, indicating that there wasn't anything else to be done. He tried to gaslight me saying that they actually were straight but that "uneven wear" made them look crooked and that my dentist could contour them to improve the appearance. My dentist was clear that he could not contour them to improve their appearance given their position. I decided that I need to live with these teeth for quite some time and couldn't deal with how crooked they were so I sought out alternative orthodontic treatment. As an aside, another provider in W. Seattle refused to see me because I'd had treatment at Sorensen because they 'all know each other'. Seriously. Anyway, I found a kick-ass orthodontist for treatment on Capital Hill - totally worth the drive - which I recently concluded. Wow - what a difference. Not only in my results but in the process. With Keith Wong I experienced professionalism, an orthodontist that seemed to enjoy his job, and someone who was happy to answer my questions. All of these were notably absent in my experience with Sorensen. I really wish I hadn't wasted all of the money, time, and effort with Sorensen Orthodontics but c'est la vie. I made a big mistake in randomly selecting Nicholson for othodintic treatment. I had a severe jaw…read morealignment problem: class III malocclusion. This was not diagnosed by Nicholson. No referral to an oral surgeon was made before braces were put on. No comprehensive treatment plan. I was forced to search for an oral surgeon. I was unable to get any timeframe from Nicholson. I had the braces on for several years. He refused to tell me when I would be ready for surgery. I had a union job and my insurance was going to pay eighty percent of all costs. Never happened. At one point I insisted on meeting with him to discuss the surgery. He took me into his office and it was very cluttered! When I pressed him he started to cry!! Huh? He also has a really poor office staff. I so wish that I had never met this fellow. Never got the surgery. I had the braces taken off after three years.
