The Finger Steaks were alright. This was my first time trying them. The service was quick and we were helped by the Employee of the Month. Pretty laidback ambiance.

Cute vibe walking into 1950's old school diner! Came here with family, we had the steak fries decently get! The breading is thicker than normal and made it taste better! The beef stroganoff was good reminded me of my grandma's cooking! The meatloaf was good! The service was fast and super nice! We also had the famous ice cream potato it was perfect to share!! If you visit Idaho def come here!

Was in town for work and asked the people I was visiting what's the best local thing to eat and they said finger steak so we were off to the west side to try them! It's pretty cool inside, like a 50s diner. Order at the counter then they call you when the food is ready. Menu is eclectic with finger steak , pasta and beef stroganoff. Was also freezing inside, like a meat locker Got the finger steak meal and a strawberry shake. Shake was super thick and really good. Finger Steaks were interesting. Had a batter like fish and you dip them in cocktail sauce? Was wild for sure. Pretty tasty too. My job allows me to travel all over and try different local foods and this was a unique experience for sure!

Complete transparency - I only came for the dessert. I was searching for a place to eat in the area and Westside popped up mostly for the potato ice cream. Intrigued I had to try it. When I arrived the place was pretty busy. A couple of minute wait to order but nothing bad. Its a walk up to order then find a seat style diner. So a quick order of the dessert and I was off to find a table. Once the order came (about five minutes after ordering) I had to immediately take a picture. This is one of the coolest things I've every seen and it looked like a real potato! I expected very little from the flavor but was already thrilled of the experience however, the ice cream was actually really good too.

Finger steaks. The red stuff in the little container isn't ketchup. It's cocktail sauce!

As a tourist in Idaho, I've been searching for a good baked potato. Strangely, they're hard to find here! There isn't even a single restaurant at the Boise airport that serves one. Finally, though, I found a really good one at Westside Drive-In. I ate at the restaurant, which has tables outside, between the two drive thrus. Despite the triple-digit temperature, I didn't feel overheated, because they provide shade with big umbrellas and a cool breeze flows out from the ordering and pickup windows. The folks who work at the restaurant are friendly, knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food, and just plain nice. Quite frankly, I originally checked out Westside Drive-In for The Idaho Ice Cream Potato. A local friend told me about the one she had at the State Fair and, when I found out that it came from Westside Drive-In, I knew that I had to go. In addition to the one pound, loaded baked potato, I tried Boise's famous finger steaks. I even dipped them in cocktail sauce. I gotta admit, they're pretty good! I travel a lot and enjoy sampling the local cuisine of the places I visit. For me, Westside Drive-In is a "must go" spot when visiting Boise.

a solid diner style place. a tourist trap and i came exactly for the ice cream baked potato. its a cute gimmicky treat and it met my expectations. a unique treat to try if you have time in boise. The service here is very old school and i love it. they offer the usual diner classics.

I have a love of 50's style diners. This place has a great looking, if small, seating area inside. Great music with a heavy dose of the Beatles. There is a big counter where you place your order and then grab a seat and wait for your name to be called. So how was the food? Chilli cheese dog was ok. I hold everyone to the standards of Lafayette in Detroit and this is not at that level. Good but nothing special Steak fingers are a local tradition. This was our first taste of them. The meat was tender and not chewy. The batter is thick and everything is cooked well. Even with sauces this dish seems a bit on the bland side to me, but maybe that is how they are supposed to be? I think it would have benefitted from a spicy infusion of some sort but that would make it less tempting for some (and youngsters) The Monte Cristo is a diner tradition and this one was excellent. Very tasty and recommended We also enjoyed the onion rings. Not ground breaking but perfectly cooked and tasty. I like them with a side of ranch. Overall a good experience, assuming you are in the mood for some deep fried tastiness.

One of Boise's oldest institutions, Westside Drive In is whipping up incredible food with a quintessential retro vibe. The menu is packed with all kinds of meals, it can be hard choosing what to get! I had to try the Finger Steaks ($13.69), dubbed "Boise's Best." One bite and I can attest to that statement. The basket came generously piled with these golden beauties on top of crispy, crunch tater tots and served with a slice of garlic bread, fry sauce and cocktail sauce (I think? Wasn't a fan of this one). Yes, these are definitely some of the best finger steaks you will ever have! High quality cut meat coated with wonderfully seasoned batter cooked to crispy perfection - I was in heaven! My husband ordered the Famous Daddy-O burger (two patties, two ham slices, four bacon slices, Swiss, and cheddar, $17.49 for a small) with a side of fries and a strawberry milkshake ($3.89 for 12 oz). The price tag is steep on this guy but it's absolutely justified. The burg was massive - so tall I struggled to get a bite. There was a lot going on and the blend from all the ingredients is phenomenal. Add a lil' fry sauce before each bite and it's a symphony of flavor! The milkshake was great as well. Incredibly thick and absolutely no chunks of fruit. 10/10 all the way! I couldn't leave without trying the item that lands Westside on numerous lists on the internet - the famous Ice Cream Potato ($5.59). This thing is so freakin' adorable and beautifully crafted you'll almost enjoy staring at it just as much as eating it. It's a ball of rich vanilla ice cream shaped into a potato, dusted with cocoa powder with whip cream, peanuts and cookie crumbles. At first glance, it truly does look like a baked potato with whipped cream! There's small dips, scratches and textures added to resemble a real potato. I couldn't believe how hard they really went on this. What a fantastic tribute to our state's famous product. I am totally going to be returning to try more. And there's no way I will not being another potato! I 100% recommend Westside, especially for visitors! With their huge menu, there really will be something for everyone!

Such a good, classic spot. The burgers are hefty and the potato ice cream is so dang fun. Highly recommend.

I know my husband who is a huge pizza lover would absolutely love their pizza here. So for my birthday, I decided that we should hit up The James for dinner. I had made a reservation for a patio table a couple days ahead of schedule. I really wanted to sit outside with the family and enjoy our meal. Of course the day of my birthday, the weather was windy and cooler. I called the restaurant to see if we couple l could possibly dine inside. The gentleman that helped me over the phone wasn't really friendly but he assured me that dining inside shouldn't be an issue. We had a cute table reserved for us inside. It was pretty chill when we came in. A few people at the bar and another table enjoying their meal. The last time my friends and I were in, it was so busy. I actually appreciate how chill it was tonight. Nothing like enjoying my family and our meal in a calm space. We got some food ordered. We started off with some wings, clam chowder and zuppa tuscono soup. A pepperoni pizza for my husband and I. My daughter got the French dip sammy. I planned on having a little bit of my daughter's sandwich. I have to make sure it's tasty! The wings came out first. They were cooked perfectly! Crispy on the outside but the chicken wing was still tender. The buffalo sauce and ranch were in dipping cups on the side. We all had a few and then soups were dropped off. My husband's clam chowder was money. It was so good! Clams and potatoes through out each bite. My daughter's zuppa was very hearty and spicy. I love the kale in the soup. I had a couple bites but the heat was becoming a little too much for me. Our pizza was hot right out the oven. The cheese was perfectly melty. Plenty of pepperoni slices on the pizza. I appreciate the fact that the crust isn't crazy thick. It's thinner so you're not eating a tone of bread. The crust is crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. The sauce is not overwhelming in herbs. This joint seriously has some of the best pizza in town! Each slice I had tonight was fantastic! My daughter enjoyed her sammy. I didn't get a chance to snag a bite. I was too busy tearing up our pizza. I did snag a few fries and these folks know how to produce a great fry. We didn't get the gorgonzola fries this time but it will be a must have the next time we hit this joint up. It's been a hot minute since I have had them and I still daydream about them. Our sweet server got me birthday dessert. Chocolate cake with raspberry sauce on it. It was devine. I couldn't tell if the cake was flourless. It was really dense like it was but I didn't mind. It was still so good. I enjoyed the raspberry sauce that came on it. Since the cake was so dense, the raspberry sauce added some brightness to it. As full as I was, I had to make sure my birthday dessert was finished. I'm a sucker for anything sweet no matter how full I am. Tonight's dining experience was great. Our server was sweet and delightful. Our food was killer good. My dessert was banger. And the vibe was chill. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better dinner to celebrate my birthday. I look forward to coming back, sitting on the patio and vibing out while enjoying our food.

It's totally worth a visit. :)

It has a nice ambience. Inside are a combination of booths, half booths, low and bar height tables, dark wood, with a nice semi-circular bar with a nice, semi-circular metal decoration that was filled with artificial plants, wine bottles, and small kegs. There was a wine rack accent wall on the right. It is located in downtown Boise at the corner of Idaho and 8th St along restaurant row. Our server was Matthew B, and while he was a nice guy, he did not provide good service. It took him a while to get to our table, then after we ordered drinks, it took too long to get them. We then ordered appetizers but he didn't take our dinner orders. We waited too long for the appetizers, and then we ordered our dinners, which also took a while to come out. Runners brought our food out, not Matthew. He did not to refill the women's sodas, we had to ask. He did bring another glass of wine to one of the men, but that was because he was signaled. He did not ask the other people that ordered beer and cocktails if they wanted another. We never had our water glasses refilled. We told him about the birthday celebration, and all he said was, if we ordered dessert, he would put a candle on it. What? Most places serve a complimentary dessert for a birthday celebration. He also took too long to bring us our checks. We're all good tippers. We gave him 15%; he didn't deserve it. The food was OK, not spectacular, but overpriced. As far as the apetizers, the asparagus fries were not that flavorful, though nicely crusted. The cauliflower was just OK, likewise the chicken wings. I did like the honey and balsamic grilled brussel sprouts. Speaking for my wife and I, she liked the BAM Sammy. The side salad was average. I ordered the Urban Burger. While the patty was cooked well, it was small. I can get a bigger, better burger that costs less at any number of restaurants we frequent, including a few near us (we live in Star). I did like the fries. Crispy, with I believe Parmesan cheese coating them. My friend said his smoked salmon salad was just OK. We found it very loud, and difficult to hear each other in conversation. Needless to say, we have no plans to return to Fork.

The sun was peeking out once in a while. The table was nicely shaded by a huge umbrella. The sun was nice but to have it beating on you isn't the best so the umbrella was appreciated. It was the perfect table for our outing. Jerika (I hope I spelled her name right) greeted my friend and I with her beautiful smile. We got some drinks started so while they were being worked on, my friend and I breezed over the menu. I did somewhat enjoy my charboiled salmon at the Eagle Bardenay for my birthday a couple weeks ago. The chefs did undercook my first plate of salmon. The server was kind to take my plate back to have the chefs remake it. The second attempt was appreciated but it was unfortunately a fail. The salmon came out so dry. I get that I wanted it well done but not jerky. But, today's a new day and I was willing to give it another shot. So today, I ordered the salmon with veggies instead of the salad. My plate came out and it looked promising. I love beautiful char marks on my food. The char marks today were perfect. My veggies looked nicely cooked but I could tell that some of the squash was still undercooked by the color. I didn't mind, it's a sign of freshness. As much as I wanted to stare at the prettiness of my food, I was ready to dig in! My salmon was so good! It was perfectly cooked! No raw spots in the middle, it was flaky and moist. It was a fabulous piece of salmon. The sun dried tomato butter is a fantastic add on to the salmon. I honestly could have polished another piece of fish. The chef that cooked my salmon today needs a raise! My lunch was chef's kiss! My friend enjoyed her lunch and her birthday drink! The outdoor patio was so relaxing. My lunch was also enjoyed. Our server was kind and attentive. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday lunch for my deserving friend. I hope that it won't be another 5+ years till I come back. I will need another plate of salmon with that sun dried tomato butter soon.

I ordered a burger - they have gluten-free buns, although they charge $2 extra for it. The burger was good and so was the bun. Their fries are coated in flour, so I got the sweet potato fries which were very good. The service was very good, the booth was a good size and it was clean. The food good.

The decor features beautiful artificial greenery that gives the space a light, vibrant, and welcoming feel. My server, Brayden, was fantastic--friendly, prompt, and attentive. I started with the Southern Hospitality mimosa (peach & pineapple with "Blue Ridge Bubbly"), which was incredible. For my meal, I chose the $10.99 Lunch Break Special, upgrading my side to the chicken poblano soup alongside the half honey pecan chicken salad sandwich. While I was looking at the bar, a gentleman named Scott asked how I was enjoying my food. I told him I hadn't tried it yet, but that the mimosa was rocking! The soup was delicious with great flavoring, and the biscuits paired perfectly with their tasty jam. The chicken salad also tasted great, but unfortunately, I bit into a sharp chicken bone that hurt my mouth. Because of this, I stopped eating the sandwich. When Brayden checked back in, I let him know I couldn't finish it due to the bone. He handled it perfectly, promptly took the sandwich away, and removed the charge from my bill. He also brought out some bread for my soup as requested. I finished my meal with a salted caramel craft iced latte, which was absolutely delicious. Minor food mishap aside, the outstanding customer service from both Brayden and Scott will definitely bring me back!

By coincidence when walking around town I spotted it and had to go try. I'm a sucker for biscuits and gravy and these definitely beat what you would find in a Denny's or IHOP by a landslide on the taste and aesthetic scale! It's super filling since there's so many carbs, but the taters (more like small potato wedges) are actually a clever add-in. They add a slight bit of texture to the mushiness of the gravy-soaked biscuits, and potatoes and gravy are already best friends in terms of food pairings. There's also garnish on top (some sort of greens and cheese) that gives it a nice look and extra flavor. Delicious! I didn't think much of the customer service initially aside from thinking they were super friendly. However, I sat down at one of the tables and took my time eating and people watching. So many people came by the store to talk to the chefs with such familiarity that it felt like this popup was its own restaurant and community. It hasn't reached a point of popularity where it's flooded with people, but the more I look back on the experience, the nicer I feel about it. Even after a lot of time had passed and the staff had already helped out so many people, when I left, they called out my name and it made me wish I could go back again. This is one of the best experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Not because it's spectacular or mindblowing, but because it was great people watching. The food itself was also amazing for late night food-coma inducing munching.
